I was referred to Chris & Mary Smith (husband & wife team) a few months ago and although I have only had 4 sessions one time a week with my 6 month old mixed lab from North Shore Animal League, my puppy is a new dog. Still a puppy but alot more obidient. They have a team of trainers that work thoughout Suffolk, Nassau & NYC, and if you have an opportunity to take a look at their website you will see what I mean about their reputation and devotion. I just found out they have 11 dogs! Yikes. They take in dodgs that some or most people can not handle and then they fall into their pack.... I believe in doing business with small businesses and rest assured you will be very pleased with the results. What a nightmare. We did the one month intensive program boot camp (more like bs camp) in a vulnerable state and in desperate need of a trainer after adopting a puppy. This company promises the world but simply doesn't deliver. Our dog did not come back well behaved at all. Worst of all he assured us he'd be in touch with constant updates, pictures and videos because at the end of the day we were basically sending away our baby and it was an obstacle to even get him to answer the phone. superpaws is a waste of a lot of money and time and is nothing but a headache. read more

What a horrible facility. I looked around for a tour. Dogs were all kept in one small room in kennels stacked on top of each other. It reminded me of a horrible puppy mill. Dogs were barking like crazy and the room was sound proof so if something horrible happened, the staff wouldn't know because they wouldn't be able to hear and there wasn't a see thru door. I walked in and out. I would never board my dog here. Ever. This is where you would leave your dog if you don't have a heart and don't consider them a member of your family. read more

Just got my boy back from Super Paws for a three-night boarding stay while I was out of town. It's so wonderful to have peace of mind when away and to know that the people who will take care of my dog love him almost as much as I do. I was able to easily reach them by phone for updates and also received emails about how well things were going. Super Paws is a small team of very reliable and unbelievably knowledgeable professionals in their field. I got my Dachshund from a breeder who didn't invest much time, energy, or attention in him because he wasn't "perfect" for the show life or breeding...the result was an unsocialized, defensive, lump of nerves. Mary and her team did the three-week intensive training at their facility with him and he came home just before the holidays - December 22nd. My guy had a wonderful Christmas holiday among family and behaved beautifully. My family could not believe the change in him. I was nervous to send him away for three weeks after only having him for a few months myself, but I received multiple updates via phone and email, with pictures of my boy in his training regalia (vest and leash). Any time I had a question about how to set the collar or anything else (even on Christmas Eve), someone was there to pick up the phone and expertly walk me through what I needed to do. Success every time. Anytime Mary or Ashlee were scheduled to come to the house for follow ups they were there on time and we were able to have a successful training session. They are all very compassionate and made sure to schedule visits when the weather wasn't unbearably cold (as this winter was brutal). My vet has asked me for Super Paws' contact information to make referrals after seeing the change in my boy from pre to post-training. That's a high endorsement! Super Paws cares for the "whole" dog...not just obedience training. My guy has the propensity to put on weight and they counsel me on what foods are the best, how much he should be getting, and what works best for exercise for breeds with long bodies and short legs. He's already signed up for a return stay at the end of June and I'm working to show off a much trimmer Dachshund for that stay! A friend from work referred me to Super Paws who did training with their little dog who also visits for boarding. She is overwhelmingly pleased with the service as well. One star, that's even a lot. More like no stars. So I have a puppy, and hire Chris. Well worst decision of my life, more like getting scammed of 1000 dollars. I was handed a shock collar and was told "here's your training" a joke that's not even a question. He than DIDNT show up for five lessons making up excuses after excuse. Than he suggests to bring her to his house for some intensive training(because he didnt show up five times and "felt bad" so he so called "upgraded" us). My dog is my family, I told him he would need to send me pictures he said of course pictures and updates all the time. When I tried contacting him, is was a hassle I had to call him multiple times, and email him. Finally I called and this is his response, why are you calling me its my only day off I'm out. EXCUSE ME WHERE IS MY DOG... Crated up getting nothing. I finally demanded I'm coming to get my dog, but I wasn't allowed. I could never see where my dog was. Well let me tell you when I got my dog back she was under weight, we got back food when we shouldn't of received any food back because she is a puppy and we have her on a premeasured diet of raw meat. Also she was so dirty, she was wet full of urine, I never saw such a dirty dog, and the rancid smell that was coming off of her was undescribable. Let me tell you this Chris, all your firefighter talking is b.s. You are a disgrace to firefighters for they are trustworthy. Obviously you desperately needed the money so so be. But oh believe me I know where the facility is. Sincerely a customer that believed your nonsense, always knew you were a creep though. How you can do that to people and be okay with it is not only mind boggling but really just hands down sad.I just really hope that no else falls for this or has to lose money. Please take the time to see that after I put a poor rated comment up that two greatly rated comments came in within an hour. On top of that both the accounts who commented were just created. I guess some people really will do anything to keep their ratings up. But don't fall for all these stories that clearly aren't true, and those comments are either family, friends, or the owners of this business. read more

Super Paws literally changed our lives and we are so grateful for their amazing training system. Our English Bulldog, Athena, was completely out of control. She would listen only when she wanted to and thought she was in charge of the house. She would pull on walks, only knew how to "sit" (which she didn't even do all of the time), and was extremely territorial in our home. We started working with Chris and a training collar/remote around Christmas time this past year. 4 months and multiple sessions later, Athena is a different dog. She knows sit, come, stay, heal, place, off, quiet, and down. I now feel comfortable and confident taking her to the park, beach, public places, etc. because of how controlled she is. She is also SO much happier- as we have learned, dogs want YOU to be in charge, not them. The other day when we had food delivered, I put Athena on her "place" and the delivery man knocked on the door and my boyfriend answered, spoke to him, and got our food all while she STAYED on her place- remarkable. Never in a million years would I have thought she could be this well behaved. The entire Super Paws team has been incredible with us and Athena. Chris knew that one of our major problems was Athena acting territorial in our home, so he arranged to bring different "strangers" to our home to test her out. He brought Ashley one time, and then his wife, Mary, came to our last session- Athena did great with both of them, but this was a way for us to test out her training and exactly what I wanted. We are so excited for group classes to begin next week! Also, take the time to read the reviews that fall in the "not recommended" category. For some reason, these are all the best reviews- I honestly do not find any truth in the 1 star reviews- and no, I am not family, friend, or the business owner. We are just new customers that found Super Paws online and decided to begin training. The quality of training is second to none and everyone is extremely responsive. There have been times where we needed to reschedule, and we were always accommodated. I would highly recommend Super Paws- it is 100% worth the money- as long as you put in the effort every day to work with your dog, you will see amazing results. read more

We are currently working with Chris & Mary for the 3rd time. My wife and I foster bulldogs (we try anyways, we seem to end up keeping most of them) and Super Paws has been a godsend for us. The first two dogs they trained for us were both puppies and before their 1st birthday's both of them knew a slew of both basic and advanced commands. If you've ever tried to get a puppy to sit/stay while someone rings you're doorbell you'll know what kind of accomplishment that is. Another great thing about Chris & Mary is that they genuinely care about the dogs. Months after we finished training the first 2 we still were able to call them when we had a question or a new issue and because we have so many dogs, different issues are always popping up. Chris & Mary are always there for us, helping us with everything from suggestions about diet (bulldogs often have allergies) to helping integrate a new foster that may be staying us. I really can't recommend them enough, having dogs is great but having well trained dogs is so much better. read more

I have known Mary and Chris owner of Super Paws for over 7 years. They have trained 3 of my cockers over those years through their Board and Train program. They did an absolutely amazing job, and my puppies came home fully trained and housebroken. They have helped me say good bye to my most senior dog at age 17 and embraced my decision to find another cocker. I have a high level position and without their help with my pups, I could never manage. When I travel, they come and pick up my pups and take care of them for days or weeks. At one point I had a severe accident and needed emergency surgery, they came at midnight to get my pups and cared lovingly for them until I was well enough to have them back home with me. They do not do just standard training, they learn about you, your life style and what will work well for you and to make certain you pups are happy in their home. My pups always come home, freshly bathed and exhausted from hours of play. My one dog has severe food allergies and they are so careful that she receives nothing but her special diet. They have even shopped for her special food, when they ran out b/c one of business trips got extended. They are truly passionate about their work and their and the dogs they work with. Both of my pups literally run to the door when either Mary or Chris come to the door. If you have questions, you can e-mail them or call and they will help you thru whatever issues you might have or make a home visit. They are my pups "god parents"!!! I have had a number of trainers over the years, and have never had anyone as caring and helpful as Mary and Chris.
