We've enrolled our son twice, and the coaches/ sessions have been good so far. However, the customer service is horrific. Both times we received broken or incorrect gear for our son and they refused to do anything. They sent a 9-10 year old jersey for a toddler, and when I followed up, advised that's their standard and the toddler versions are available online for $35. Disappointing to see a program using public space decide to nickel and dime their patrons. read more

I'll preface this review by admitting I'm no soccer expert or trying to raise a professional athlete here. I just want my kid happily and actively engaged in a team sport (and outta the house, let's be real). Anything else is extra. With that said, Super Soccer Stars was the perfect start to our son's soccer journey. This will be our 12th season--he started at age 3 and is now 5--and our son looks forward to each class. All his coaches have fostered values of teamwork, healthy competition, and self-confidence over the years. And they've been attentive to his individual strengths and weaknesses despite being enrolled in group classes. Classes are easy to schedule with multiple locations in Queens and programs are age-specific. I'm surprised by the complaints about customer service and rescheduling. The times that I've been unable to schedule a make-up class, of which there are usually multiple opportunities unless it's the end of the season, they applied a credit toward future sessions. My only gripe is that during inclement weather you don't know whether class is cancelled until the last minute and you're already on the road. read more

My toddler son has been enjoying his classes but every single time I need to enroll him in a class it is a disaster. They enroll him on the wrong day, they don't know which teacher he has and have no idea which teacher is teaching which class, etc. The latest is when my child switched from Sunday to Thursday classes, they enrolled me in the new class but kept charging me for the old one. Every interaction results in numerous phone calls. Infuriating. Agree with the other negative reviews - terrible customer service and incompetent people. read more

This is an OK class. The coach quality varies widely (we had a sub a few times and meh, not great). However, I really don't love how they say they have all these covid precautions (quadrants for kids, social distancing, etc.) then the class is nothing like that. They don't require masks for kids and our coach doesn't even wear her mask properly - it's always sliding down her face and she doesn't seem to care. The coach does activities which encourage kids to bunch up and be six inches apart, not six feet apart. It's frustrating to pick a "safe" activity in these times and have it be unsafe. I feel the class activities are OK, not super awesome, but i know they have to cater to all levels within the class. read more

This company has the most draconian customer service policies I have ever encountered. My two year old daughter's soccer class was canceled because of rain. We were not offered a makeup or refund, but rather a "virtual class," which of course is useless for a two year old. The only way we could get a makeup credit was if we signed up for an entire new series of classes, for hundreds of dollars. They must pray for rain every day of their scheduled classes. read more

This company couldn't have worse customer service. Snow day and assume class will be cancelled? They won't tell you and the coach may or may not show! Coach doesn't bother to show one week and you call the office? They don't bother to call you back or explain why you wasted your time getting your kid to class and traveling there. While I enjoyed the classes my daughter took with Soccer Stars in the fall of 2020 (outside), I chose not to continue with the program during the winter months as classes moved indoors. I have still been charged each month (December 2020 and January 2021) as if my daughter was still enrolled in the class. I was sent an email in November 2020 indicating my daughter was re-enrolled at which time I indicated that she was not going to be enrolling in the winter programs. My card was then charged and had to call to have the charge reversed. I was apologized to over and over and told it wouldn't happen again. The same thing happened in January 2021 and I'm currently still waiting for my refund. I'm not sure what the financial status of this Company is but I fear more people are being charged and it is going undisputed. read more

My daughter loves her weekly soccer class. She is getting really good (!) and loves all the interesting drills and games. Her coach makes it a very fun and varied experience. I would highly recommend this class to anyone with an athletic 5 year old like mine. The running around is great as is the socializing with other kids. AVOID. This company is a company you don't want to deal with. I signed my toddler up for soccer within our apartment building in the Oosten in Williamsburg. Covid happened and all classes were cancelled. In April 2020, I emailed them to refund me as this was a very expensive class and it was not going to be hosted. 2 years later, we moved out of state and I AM STILL emailing them about a refund with very little responses. Overall the practice was fun for my son he always looked forward to going. I enrolled him in good faith that he would have practice every Saturday. Yet classes were cancelled quite often. They offered make up classes however they seem to not acknowledge that parents work Monday- Friday that's why he was enrolled on a Saturday class. I had a very disappointing experience with this soccer camp. In less than 3 months they changed the coach 4 times! This became a problem not only because it takes time for the kids to get used to a new coach, but also because the coaches that replaced the original one were just terrible. When my son started attending the campus I felt that this camp was mediocre at best but due to the fact that the campus was close to my house I decided to stick with it. As I said, the original coach was replaced and since that the program went downhill and the new guys had absolutely no clue how to run a class. I attempted to contact a manager and the main office in New York but I got nothing but a bunch of excuses and stupid justifications. It's been nearly a month since I took my son to a different soccer campus and I feel that for the first time I am getting something in return for my money. Unluckily, this did not happen with SSS. I strongly recommend the owner of Super Soccer Stars to spend more time trying to improve his VERY LOUSY soccer campus. read more

Had a three and five year old participate in the Super Soccer Stars Sunday morning club at Pier 5 recently and was very impressed. The head coach Nicholas that worked with the 2-3 years olds was fantastic! The activities and ideas these people come up with and interactions with the kiddos was fantastic, I don't know if they're just really well trained or just have a gift with working with kids, but if I lived locally, I would recommend this to all. They made soccer FUN for kids, with interactive stories and games that helped develop the coordination, footwork, etc. that you need as an adult but in a kid friendly way. Plus what parent (or auntie) doesn't LOVE seeing their kids having a blast and telling you how much they love soccer at the end of practice?! Notes: bring water, they don't provide it and the kiddos will be thirsty. Make sure you stick around to the end and learn the "Super Soccer Stars" song, your kids will be singing it the whole way home (and proudly wearing their soccer stickers!) read more

My first grader has taken weekend soccer classes here, attended their summer camp, and we have also had Super Soccer Stars parties... and I could not be more impressed. Coach Juan in particular is amazing. The coaches make soccer really fun for the kids while teaching them all the skills they need to know. Previously, we had signed him up for the Westside Soccer League. While WSSL is a great program too, it seems like a lot of families do these two programs in tandem for younger kids. WSSL focuses more exclusively on games while super soccer stars focuses on teaching them the rules, the skills, and giving them the practice they need. The classes are expensive, but I think the cost is inline with most other NYC classes for kids this age. And they are well worth the money! I can't recommend Super Soccer Stars highly enough! read more

My daughter has participated in both the Kick n Play program and now the 2-3yr program and it's wonderful! Super Soccer Stars provides a very nurturing, educational and playful environment where kids begin to build a soccer foundation while socializing with other kids. The program is very well thought out and I've seen my daughter flourish throughout our experience with SSS. The activities throughout class are very creative and it's amazing to see such little kids be so engaged. My daughter is nothing but smiles during class and always talks about "soccer class". I have nothing but great things to say about the friendly and professional coaches and staff, but the biggest testament is my daughter's very apparent happiness while she's there and the skills she's developed. All I can say: Coach Zac is the best! I signed my son up when he just turned two and he now kicks the ball when running and learned to understand concepts like making a goal etc... Zac and crew know that toddlers need their free play and also need guidance. It's a tough job that was handled in the most sensitive and loving way! We moms enjoyed our time on the bench outside the field as long as it lasted (and they stayed on the field) and watching our little ones bond. Great program, only one small thing, the temperature in the room was sometimes too hot before the AC kicked in in spring but that might be a problem of the building which they cannot control. My daughter recently completed a private class with her friends for 3-4y/o. Most of the coaches are lovely, engaging and enthusiastic. However, we had multiple switches in coaches; sometimes there weren't two coaches there (for a group of 12) and they were almost always late. This lack of consistency and disorganization is not helpful for these young kids. They did not have permits for the great lawn and so we also switched fields 4 times during an 8 week session. Their customer service is atrocious and they are unreachable by phone. I would not recommend this organization. read more

*UPDATED REVIEW* -- Our twin girls (age 5.5) started Stars Premier to take their soccer to the next level. The regular Super Soccer Stars program was a great introduction to soccer when they were toddlers but for any parents out their that actually see a budding soccer star in their child, I'd highly recommend looking into Stars Premier. It's a bit more serious, focusing on ball skills and 'real' team play. But the coaches and creative drills still keep it fun. Their coach, Coach Charlie in Park Slope, is excellent. Great with the kids, focused on developing strong fundamentals, and giving the kids a taste of what a 'real' coach is like... a mix of friendly and serious, with an ounce of tough love. It's amazing how quickly I've seen my girls develop and how much they genuinely look forward to class each week. My only critique would be I wish there were more girls and even more location/time options. Something more than once weekly would be amazing. Hope this is helpful to other parents out there. read more

I posted an honest review today giving the program 2 stars. Cannot believe you think that insulting me personally because of a less than stellar review is somehow appropriate. I just gave my honest opinion. I have a right to review your program. I was not happy with the classes but even so was kind enough to say other people were very happy and that was great. I gave the following examples: your instructors did not care to learn my child's name correctly and that too many kids were in the class. The response from Super Soccer Stars, although very long, was insulting and inaccurate: ---You do not have the lowest kid to teacher ratio. The course my child is in has a much better ratio and has had better ratios every time we have signed him up with that program. That is why he is back with SocRoc (and he absolutely loves their classes). ----In addition, you attacked me as a parent by saying that you as a parent would not have allowed your child to be called an incorrect name. Let me be clear: I did try to correct your instructors. After which, my kid ended up missing the last few classes not only because he told me they were not fun but also because I was frustrated with your instructors not able to get his name right and were too overwhelmed with the number of kids. --And lastly, I have absolutely not been asked my any "competitor" to write a negative review on your program. It seems you are really reaching to explain away bad reviews. Could it be that by experiencing a much better program, I felt it that the purpose of yelp is to let people know that other great programs exist and give a program an honest review? One piece of advice to a program that is supposed to cater to families: don't insult the parents. It is not only completely unprofessional but also completely unjustified and just plain mean. I think your response speaks volumes about the kind of program you run. You are great at marketing and respond forcefully to every negative review. But you do not do it with any kindness -- and instead of taking the criticism constructively you instead lash out and insult. They list on KidPass and accept payment and sign up via KidPass, yet two weeks in a row we have showed up for a class and have received email confirmation and then the class does not exist. Multiple disappointed toddlers and parents/caregivers. SSS says KidPass doesn't show them the reservations...okay, then do not list on KidPass and have people show up with excited little kids only to find nothing there. I also don't appreciate being told that the class was going on but that I was in the wrong place. This was false, and we discovered this on the second week. Not giving them a third chance, and do not recommend for their poor organization and lack of ability to coordinate with KidPass. Never had this issue with any other classes signed up for through KidPass. read more

My four year old son has been taking soccer with SSS for the past year on the weekends, and he begged for a soccer party for his birthday this year, which we celebrated last weekend. Katie from the office was fantastic and made all the arrangements virtually effortless. We have a large common outdoor space in our building and she had no problems holding the party there, but was also ready with alternate sites if needed. She was super flexible with timing, duration, etc, and even made plans for rain dates. We did the food and set up ourselves, but they can also help with that for an additional cost. On the day of the party, our two awesome coaches, Luke and Errol, showed up right on time with all the equipment and a big bag of silver soccer balls for each kid to take home. The party was a mix of four year olds with a few older kids, but the coaches incorporated everyone seamlessly. We had 10 kids and two coaches and it was perfect. There were lots of fun games, coordinated, crazy running around and then an awesome final game. My son had the best time and everyone else is still talking about it at school. We just had my five year old's birthday party in Central Park with Super Soccer Stars and it was really wonderful. The coaches were fantastic and all of the parents were raving. The party coordinator from the office, Katie, was great. She dealt with all my stressed-out questions in the days before the party, made suggestions for rain dates and locations, and reassured me while I second guessed myself and watched the hour by hour weather forecasts on the web that the coaches had done lots of birthday parties and could make anything work. She was so right. Between my son's friends and siblings there were at least 30 kids at the party, and I was concerned that it would be too much too handle. But they made it seem like a breeze.... We were lucky to have a warm (slightly windy, but really perfect) day. The coaches were already there when we arrived at the location I'd chosen in the park (You should apply for a permit with the parks dept at least 21 days before if more than 25 people). They had scoped out the best place to play, but were incredibly flexible when I asked them to move it a little to a place that wasn't as ideal but was a little closer to where the parents and food was going to be. They made it work perfectly. As soon as the kids started to arrive the coaches, headed by a wonderful and super-energetic, coach named Luca, who knew how to put in just the right mix of sport and silliness for the age group, jumped right into action. They got all of the kids going and having a wonderful time so that I was able to deal with all of the other elements of the party I was worried about. They noticed when someone went off on their own and gave individualized attention to all, made them laugh and run and generally have a great great time. There were mostly 4-5 year olds but some older and younger kids and the coaches knew just what to do to involve them all. Such a load off a mom's back to see so many kids involved and engaged - all the parents were psyched too; they were able to go back and forth easily from mingling to watching the kids play. My kids already loved the classes, now I can say that I highly recommend their birthday parties too! read more

My son is now 11 and I have good memories of the classes he's had. We had 3 summers of "drop in" classes that were as good as it gets. There were very few kids at the summer drop in classes and consistently wonderful coaches. I even signed up my nonathletic daughter for summer drop ins and she played and loved it. The summer drop in classes are my favorite. I WISH THEY HAD SUMMER DROP IN FOR OLDER KIDS AS WELL!!! My son also played during the year, in "regular" weekly classes, and is now in their Premiere program. Unfortunately, there are fewer offerings for older kids, but he still may continue in their travel league. The coaches are what makes Super Soccer Stars. I don't know where they get them, but they are people who really care about the sport and are consistently positive. read more

Always top top experience. Coach Dennis is such a superstar. He is magical with kids, and so creative. He thinks of innovative and fun ways to get/keep kids involved/interested. He manages a group so well and somehow gives each kid the impression that they have his full undivided attention. He can turn negative behaviors into positive so quickly. Maybe because he's a parent himself... Highly recommend. Jesse on the managing/administrative side is also super fantastic. He will help any clients with anything whil still somehow doing all the things he needs to be doing. Ive never seen someone juggle so many balls behind a desk before. He is always upbeat, pleasant, honest and FAST and accurate. Really really glad they have this guy on their front end staff. read more

I totally agree with Michelle B.'s previous statement in that the class is boring, the kids get to stay in lines, listen to long instructions and almost not play at all. My 3.5 year old boy went on the first class in Hoboken and spent the entire time running around on its own, picking up grass and trying to play with the balls but was only allowed by the teacher (whom I asked if I should help) to stay in line and wait for his turn. The drill was to run without the ball to a pole and come back. It was interesting to see how the parents had to intervene to get their kids to stay put while the papers distributed before by the teachers were asking for parents to stay on the side. Hard to blame the parents to try to help as otherwise the kids would have gone crazy. To sum up, this is very surprising that the teachers didn't even let the kids at that age get to discover what "running with a ball around other kids" means and just tried to get them into that polished, in-line type of drills that doesn't make any sense at that age. Guess what, they want to run and play. Teaching drills should come second. The next annoying thing is that I called on Sept 6th to get my refund which was approved by the office manager to be done in the next few business days. After almost a month and a few more phone calls, I am still waiting for this refund to hit my account. This was my last call today. Next time I will have no choice but to file a complaint. read more

This is one of the better programs in NYC for little kids but the value proposition is lame. Super Soccer Stars is now $55/session. Really? Chelsea Piers soccer is a fraction of the cost. Downtown United Soccer Club is $23/session. Sorry your program is good but its not worth 2X the cost especially when we are talking about little kids. read more

We attend the classes in Hoboken and they are excellent. The coaches we have worked with over the last two years have been very good. They keep their eye on all children and keep them all engaged. I would highly recommend this to teach your kids soccer, give them a very structured physical activity and get them out the house and burn off a ton of energy. read more

My four year old son has taken soccer with Super Soccer Stars for a couple years, and his older brother had as well, and we have always had a good experience. My 4yo's birthday came around, and he decided he wanted a soccer party. We had never gone to a Super Soccer Stars birthday party before, but it ended up being perfect! Katie from the office made it so easy, we were able to have it in our own outdoor space which made it so reasonable, and all of the kids had a great time! Coach Jordan and Coach David did a fantastic job. They had a difficult group -- many of the kids were shy about joining in at first -- but they managed to include and encourage everyone. Most of all, they made the birthday boy feel super special. I highly recommend them for general classes or birthday parties! read more

My sons (4 1/2 and 3) have been taking classes with Socce Super Stars on and off for the last two years. We've always been super happy with the coaches and classes -- the boys really love them. So, we decided to do a Super Soccer Stars birthday party with them when my younger son turned three. He loved it! He had the best time. The coaches were funny and engaging and all the parents have told me over and over again how much fun their children had. I can't say enough good things about them. We've done past birthday parties at the various kid places in the city and I would say this seemed to be a much better value. read more

I had been taking my sisters child to classes for a couple of week when the coach was replaced by a less effective one. When asked about where the previous coach was, I was told that he was moved to a "more important" location, and that this practice was not uncommon with the company. The new coach seems like a fine young man, and similarly unhappy about the situation, noting that he now has to travel a much longer distance to coach. The child loves soccer and doesn't care about the last minute adjustment. He's outgoing and gets along with everyone. But, this seems like information that parents should know before enrolling into these programs. With what is being paid for classes, why is every location not "important?" read more

My kids 3 and 5.5 have had a great experience at Super Soccer Stars in Hoboken this summer. My 5 yr old took another local class that I thought was good, but she thought it was boring and wasn't sure she wanted to do soccer again. She's loved Super Soccer Stars and now takes the initiative to play around with the ball on her own. The program's curriculum is clearly well-thought out. The teachers handle the kids really well - keeping the kids engaged and having fun - it's even entertaining to watch as a parent from the sidelines - while teaching a range of good soccer fundamentals, like dribbling, moving laterally and backwards, and defending. And while I've been impatient with other classes where kids seem to stand around too much, in this class, they keep it going (e.g. quickly dropping a new ball into play when one gets kicked out). My kids have also had Super Soccer Stars at pre school, and while I haven't observed that, my kids have been equally positive about it. I also had an issue where the number of classes we had taken were not tallied correctly, and the teachers went through the effort to resolve this on the spot at the class even though I had offered to just call into the office. read more

My son has tried 3 different programs and it's hard to believe that the coaches can't keep the class moving. I think he played for 15 minutes of the 45 minutes because the coaches talk too much. The kids get bored and then don't pay attention. THey need to keep the class moving and exciting. Sorry, would not recommend. read more

Both of my boys (5 & 3) have played here and we love it. Class sizes are small and geared perfectly to their age and abilities. Coach Juan is amazing! They love him and talk about him all week. He knows every child's name and makes them feel special. It's been a great experience for us at super soccer stars. read more
