We had our daughter's science themed 4th birthday party at the Art Farm this past weekend and it was "truly special" (quoting another parent). I chose this place because their package included everything (I could also order catering from Eli Zabar so grown ups can enjoy some nice appetizers and coffee) and also because they are fairly conveniently located for us and my daughter classmates' families to travel from the Bronx but also for our friends to travel from LIC and Brooklyn. Everyone had fun during the two hours we were there. The on site petting zoo has a lot to offer, the Mad Science show was a huge hit with the kiddos and the staff at the place was courteous and efficient. Pretty much every parent told me how much they loved the place and the party, and that says a lot. Thank you, the Art Farm! We'll be back! read more

Best preschool. My son is really learning and development his communication skill. I love all the teachers at the school. Mrs. Maureen and Valentina are always available to answer any and all questions. The tuition is fairly priced for the education my son is receiving. A+ for birthday parties. Every one of the staff was enthusiastic and look like they honestly enjoyed what they were doing. They have it down to a science how long each activity should take while one person is setting up for the next one and someone is cleaning up from the previous one and the options are age appropriate and take into account their attention spans. The parents can sit back and participate with their child instead of worrying about the party. It was the perfect blend of craft, animal facts and petting them, music and dance, and food. We were lucky enough to attend a birthday party for a friend's five-year-old and had a wonderful time. Very easy to find and there is either street parking or a closeby garage that wasn't terribly expensive. Once inside, take the elevator or the stairs one flight up and you enter into a huge space for play, entertainment, and dining. Our friend hired a magician for the event and there was a large carpet set out for all of the 20 or so children to look on and participate. This still left several thousand square feet of floor space to run and play and a long table for art projects. A sure hit for the kids was the petting farm set along the back of the space. All of the children got a chance to pet and hold many small animals. From lizards and turtles to bunnies and chinchillas and birds as well, the kids loved this experience as much as any other. The staff was extremely friendly and plentiful. Smiles all around and a true love for the kids they serve. Our birthday soirée lasted about two hours and that was plenty to knock out our two year old and most of the older kids that were celebrating Ethan's fifth birthday. We had a nice visit with the animals. My son is 9 months old and after petting we wiped and thoroughly sanitized our hands. He spent the entire night throwing up after contracting some sort of bug/virus which I can only assume was from our visit. We came to the second round of play time and I doubt any of the children's toys were clean. They are all extremely worn down. Shoes are recommended to be removed in the play area however many of the walkers had kept their shoes on (probably after walking in the bunny cage.) Not entirely sure why it's a good idea to have an animal area next to a play area where babies put things in their mouths. (Which I made every attempt to not allow my son to do but alas he was able to stick a few in.) read more

Great place with great programming and staff. The people who work here are friendly and kind, so I think that's why a lot of families like to come back! Us included. :-) The animal classes are great. I wish they had more course offerings though especially for older toddlers, and an all day drop-in so people could come in and see the animals throughout the whole day (not just 12-3) so it's more flexible. I brought my children to The Art Farm for a birthday party. It was our first experience and we won't go back. The people working don't seem to love what they do or don't love working with children (or both). I cringed at a couple interactions the workers had with my daughter (shushing her when she exclaimed "I'm so excited" (before we were in the animal room) and responding sarcastically when my daughter's (5 years old) story inevitably started going off course). Terrible experience this morning at the art farm. We are in a nyc heat wave, and my husband and I took our 23 month old son to the art farm, to escape the heat and pet some cute animals. The art farm had no air conditioning running. No windows open for cross ventilation and no fans. When I brought up my concerns for the animals well being, they relied, 'we haven't had any incidents yet'. To think a death of an animal is going to then make someone say, let me turn the ac on. This was animal cruelty and negligence. Pleas folks, avoid the art farm at all costs, they do not care for their animals. Terrible, terrible place. read more

We celebrated our now 6 year old daughter bday there. They are renovating the original place so we used their other space which is still perfect. We had 3 helpers. All phenomenal. Friendly helpful. Just great ladies. We coordinated with Victoria who was always on top of everything. We added on the exotic animals and omg was that amazing. People are still talking about that part of the party. We had 12 kids he lady worked alone and was able to keep all 12 kids engaged. She was AWESOME! So many animals and creepy crawlers lol which my daughter loves. People may think it's pricey. The Art Farm in the City is clearly a multi dimensional facility and without a doubt there are many different activities the centre provides. My review is purely on the daily drop in session as this was my experience. On arrival the staff at the desk were welcoming and friendly. They weren't overly enthusiastic about being involved in our experience but this didn't worry me too much as I was happy to lead my own time there with Viv. We were told about the different areas and away we went, ready to enjoy our visit! We headed straight to the animal area which was very cute. The staff were friendly and keen to help us to engage with the animals. Viv was able to meet a guinea pig, a rabbit, Benny the Tortoise and some birds. A lot of the animals are in cages and there seemed to be less in the centre than what was suggested on the website. But we did enjoy ourselves and spent a while just being in the space and having fun! The upstairs area is what I felt was very disappointing. The art area was completely inaccessible for us as the activities were aimed for much older children. I feel if you are making a drop in session for all ages then maybe it would be good to have something a tiny one can enjoy. The play room was also a little limited and the toys were definitely a little tired. We spent quite a while with the toys and made the most of it. On reflection, we did enjoy our visit and I am happy we spent a session there. To be honest I'm not sure I would hurry back but it's definitely a place to go every now and then! read more

Went to the Sunday AM session... wonderful for our 2 year old. You get a little basket of food to feed a small pen of bunny rabbits! There are also guinea pigs, a chinchilla, horny lizard, birds... Best thing about it was that all the staff members were cheerful and helpful when our kid was a little scared at first. The helpers will take out the animals one by one to have a little visit with your kid. There's also a separate room with a little table for snack time, a bunch of animal toys (for sale, but did a fine job distracting our son), and clean bathrooms. Is it too much to ask for people to smile and be helpful and courteous? As soon as we entered the vibe in this place was depressing. No one greeted us warmly at all. The cooking class was advertised as educating kids about farm fresh ingredients, nutrition etc. this was totally misleading. For $40 my three year old rolled out some dough, put on tomato sauce and cheese. Our neighborhood pizza restaurant in Cali lets kids do this for free. The Chef was harried and impatient. The entire place felt too frenetic. Cramped, run down and unfriendly is how I would describe this facility. They had a ton of staff and yet the place felt chaotic and unorganized. Perhaps if the administrative employees at the front desk had better attitudes our experience would have been different. Never coming back. Ever. read more

We still love the Art Farm!! My youngest daughter just completed the Nursery School program and we could not be more satisfied. Brandi, Julie & Kara are amazing teachers. Brandi is able to reach the most difficult of children and you can see that she really loves the kids. Julie and Kara are wonderful people who are great with the kids. They provide a wonderful, warm and nurturing environment. Christina is a delight to deal with. She maintains a very controlled, welcoming environment. My daughter learned so much (counting, days of the week, basic mathematics) in a safe stress free environment. She especially loved all the animals, which are well maintained by "Farmer" Jen. We recently had my older daughters birthday party here. She and all her guests had an amazing time. We did the "animal" party. They had someone come in with all sorts of animals, snakes, tarantula, a dove, a weasel. He was extremely entertaining and the kids loved the experience.
