Came in for a haircut. I was trying to grow my hair out so I told her to take about 3" off and give me long layers. While she was drying my hair, she kept getting my hair caught around the brush handle and it was actually pulling my hair out. The fact that I kept saying "ouch", didn't even phase her. She saw my hair when I came in, yet when she dried it, she flattened it out completely. That was fine because at that point I just wanted to get out of there. The next morning after I washed it, I realized there were no actual layers, she just thinned my hair out. I could have done a better job cutting my own hair. I've been getting my hair cut here for years, various styles and lengths, so obviously I think they do a great job (especially Vanessa!). I'm often asked where I get my hair done, and when I say "Supercuts" people are amazed...and then they ask for the phone number! Although you're unable to make advance appointments like a traditional salon, between calling or using the app it always works out - I usually get a spot when I need it. No, it's not fancy, but you're also not paying $80 for a haircut just because the salon has elaborate decor and offers free tea and coffee (and gives you the same styling service you can get at Supercuts!). I was just there today and learned a blowout is only $40! As far as I'm concerned it's a too-well-kept secret...the clientele is typically kids and guys (my own kids have been going there since they were little, and my 20-something daughter who's very into fashion and makeup won't go anywhere else), but as I said, other women are always impressed when I tell them where I get my hair done. Supercuts also sells lots of high-end hair products and often has sales going on, as well as email coupons, and parking is easy at this location. I had a haircut from long hair to shoulder length. Lina did my hair. She never asked me if I'm Ok with the length of the hair. I told her an inch shorter but she refused to do so and said that she has to go over it again and If I'm not happy about the length I should come back in a month. I'm definitely not happy about such an attitude. But I'll probably go back to a different stylist in same location as my prior experiences with a different stylist were good. Broken check-in system, average wait is about 60-75 minutes during weekends, so bring reading material and lots of patience. They only have 1-2 barbers at a time. If you need a buzz, this is fine, but well overpriced. Don't let them near your dome with scissors. Yikes! Place is an absolute mess too. So many cheap haircuts around, I'm not sure how they stay in business. read more

This review is specifically for Sonal at the Chatham, NJ location. 10/10 - Sonal consistently does an exceptional job cutting my hair and provides outstanding customer service. I never use to go into a salon/barber and request a specific individual. That all changed the first time I got my haircut with Sonal. I explained the type of haircut I was looking for and she executed it perfectly. She was also pleasant and engaging, which was a great added bonus. We've been going to Supercuts for over a year now! The stylists are always welcoming and patient with our 3 boys. They give an awesome cut and boys always leave happy:) since covid started we've been 3 times. I feel very safe there as they do temperature checks upon arrival as well as health screenings on the phone and again in person. I highly recommend the ladies at Supercuts!!! read more

I love Lena. I got a totally botched haircut from another salon and considered cutting my own hair to fix it. Family and friends all referred me to Supercuts. Luckily there was one right in town (Chatham). I walked in, Lena took me right away and, in no time, I felt human again. She is so knowledgeable. I come here at least once a week for a shampoo and blowout with Monica. She does an amazing job. I even have people in the salon waiting room complimenting me on how my hair looks when i am finished. And I get compliments on my hair everywhere I go. Monica is also fun to talk to and that makes my time at the salon enjoyable. I always call ahead and book an appointment and I am always taken on time and never have to wait. Being able to select a time on line beforehand is very helpful especially because I work in the city and can plan ahead. I will be back every week for Monica! I have been going here for many years and it has been hit or miss. This is the last straw--will not be returning. I went in for a haircut, a trim and some layers. She cut off five inches and said it was a 1/2 inch! My hair is above my shoulders. I was so shocked but the lady kept insisting it was good and a "professional haircut". I did not want to argue, bc she was pregnant, I think. This was such a bad experience--how do they hire people like this! Again, I am not talking a little bit--from long hair to a bob! My husband and I both go there. They do a decent job on his hair (he has low maintenance do). I love my cuts from there-where else can you get a trim that looks pretty for $14? The only complaint is that if you want a wash/blow out and have long hair it ends up costing about as much as a salon in the area with more relaxed atmosphere. Go there with freshly washed hair, expect a great cut then go blow dry your hair yourself at home :) read more

The stylist does not understand what TWO INCHES means and then asks if you like your haircut, which you might have liked if it had been cut two inches as requested, instead of four. Was she somehow going to fix it? Also this place also has what is quite possibly the most uncomfortable seating in the waiting area in the entire state of NJ. read more

I don't normally set reviews but this place has inspired me. I have tried to give this place a fair chance but they have continued to disappoint me. At least they're consistent. They say they allow walk-ins only to turn you away at the door. You call ahead and you're still waiting anywhere from 15-30minutes. The last time I was there the front desk lady was on the phone and did not even acknowledge that I was there or another customer who was waiting patiently ahead of me (for quite some time). Another stylist came out and asked if I had an appointment. I said no and she rolled her eyes. While my timing might be poor, this attitude is really not needed. I finally get my name on the list and 1 stylist was talking to her friend for 20 minutes instead of cutting hair. She was NOT on break. She was just lazy and didn't care there were others waiting. There is nothing super about Supercuts other then the price. I'm a guy with simple straight short blonde hair. It kills me to spend $30+ for a haircut. So I started trying Supercuts. I've tried 3 separate locations, Chatham NJ, Basking Ridge NJ, and West Caldwell NJ and its basically hit or miss. Out of the last 3-4 haircuts I've only had one where I thought the girl did a good job. When I went back for a second cut a month later she was gone. They basically just clip around the perimeter of your hair line and that's basically it. No feathering, or thinning/shaping the sides where its obvious my hair is thicker. It seems they do whatever they can get done in 5 minutes. Side burns are usually uneven, bangs and back of the neck are uneven and they don't trim any ear hair. The girls are all very nice and I think they probably are skilled but again, I think management has probably trained them to get you in and out with just the basics. When I was going to my other hair stylist (unfortunately, she retired) I found I didn't need to return for 4-6 weeks. Now, using Supercuts I'm lucky if I can get 3 weeks before needing a trim again. What do you expect for $15 I guess. read more
