After reading some of the reviews, I was in a little bit of a shock as this has never been my experience here. I have been going to Super Cuts Redwood City and have Veronica as my stylist for many years and can vouch for her that she has always been very professional and I have never walked out feeling anything but great. Prices have gone up a little, true, but what hasn't gone up recently? I usually make and appointment as to not wait too long, and have never been disappointed, I'm ok with waiting a few minutes if need be, after all this is not like picking up a pizza or sandwich somewhere, it's a hair cut that is going to last me a few weeks, so five minutes give or take is not biggie. I don't have any experience with anyone there other than Veronica, so I can't speak for them, but have also never seen an unhappy customer leaving with a hat on after the service. My hair is slightly curly so I was recommended by a friend with similar hair, and have been a customer ever since. On Saturday June 24, 2023, my son and I arrived at Supercuts, located at 1057 El Camino Real in Redwood City, CA 94063, in search of a professional haircut for my son, as advertised. We were assisted by Trinh M.T. Nguyen License No. KK392409. Being that we came to a professional salon, we expected our requests to be met, at the minimum with standard customer service and supplied with a stylist, educated enough to perform a simple request for a low fade with a line-up in the front. A picture was supplied for sufficient reference. Unfortunately, this is where our nightmare began. Instead, Trinh, proceeded to perform a high fade with visible lines present, with no attempt at blending. Both my son, the customer, and myself made multiple attempts at communicating our concerns that the service that was being provided was not remotely close to what was verbalized and physically displayed for Trinh. We did request, multiple times, for her to please blend the fade in more. Our request was received with disregard and was advised by Trinh to, "trust me". After voicing our concerns, she removes the robe from my son and states "he's done". I could not believe the result, the look of horror on my son's face. I tried to address the issue with Trinh, requesting her to please fix this as this as it is an incomplete service. To my utter dismay, Trinh's response was heartbreaking, "what do you want me to do?" I pleaded with her, "please, you need to fix it." To our dismay, Trinh proceeded to become aggressive and visibly irritated and called another co-worker, not management. The coworker she introduced was Ana. I discussed the situation with Ana and asked her whether she agreed with the service being complete. She agreed that the cut was inadequate. I explained to Ana that I could not take my son with this appalling haircut. Ana responded with empathy stating, "no, you can't take your boy like this, let me try to fix your son's haircut." Ana was very apologetic which was very much appreciated. Trinh never once attempted to apologize. It was the opposite, her demeaner became more aggressive and hostile as time progressed. At which time I was approached by Veronica, the manager on site. She did approach me and agreed to the attempts needed to fix the horrendous service provided by Trinh. Veronica did apologize and acknowledge the inadequate customer service and unprofessional communication displayed by Trinh. The manager insisted I didn't have to pay, and she would discuss further with Trinh. A tip was provided for Ana, as she really did try to correct Trinh's horrific haircut. My son prefers his fades to be well-blended with a crisp line-up. Even though ample details, with a picture depicting his request was provided. We left with a huge and unforgivable strike to a teenage boy's confidence in an already insensitive society. The worse part of this entire situation is that Trinh never once attempted to apologize, let alone acknowledged her mistake! This type of behavior is Unacceptable on all levels regardless of career. I have since filed a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA). read more

Yesterday before heading over, I called and asked the price for a neck and sideburn trim. I overheard the woman who answered my call, ask another woman who responded $8, which she relayed to me "$8". Once there, there was a woman supervising someone on the register/device how to log me in. The "supervisor" then called me over and began suggesting that I needed a full haircut and that the top was long. I declined and explained I only wanted the neck and sideburn trim, which she ultimately proceeded to do. Once completed, the "supervisor" woman rang me up and requested $9.95, to which I replied that I had called earlier and was told $8. She repeated it cost $9.95 "long time". Rather than argue the additional $2, I would advise anyone to ask the service price before they begin their spiel. read more

A BIG wake up call for me today..........Just went on my 4th and last time. I'll explain why. If you know exactly how and what equipment she used on you the 3 previous cuts......by all mean, continue going there. I asked for a trimmed haircut and she gave me a butcher style cut. If she didn't want me to return- mission accomplished!! Before I left the house my husband yells at me.....make sure they cut your hair really really short!! When I got home, we laughed and said that I won't need a haircut for a long time! I'm not going to cry about it because my hair grows fast, it's perfect for summer times and I am an eternal optimist. This too shall pass. Everything happens for a reason.......it's winter time THANK BE TO GOD for that ......so, I'll be wearing different hats because my ears get cold!!! TWO stars because she's a nice person, the appointment was on time, the ladies are very courteous and friendly. I really think she only wants easy peezy heads. I was with my last hairdresser before for 8 years until she stopped listening to my requests - people change and it was time to move on. Once I arrived I was told that they do not have me on the appointment list for the day and that I called the wrong place, which was not the case. I called ahead and made an appointment for a cut and wanted to discuss options for high lights or color for today and the girl on the phone said a consultation . I arrived early and was taken a few minutes before my appointment. Once I was in the chair, and I spoke to the hairdresser, we both agreed that I needed a trim, and she would do high lights. She then walked away and spoke with the woman that took the phone call for the appointment, and she can back to the chair and informed me that she could cut my hair, but I would have to come back tomorrow, because some of the staff was going leave soon and it may get busy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?!!!! The woman that took the phone call came up to me as well and stated that "you just scheduled for a consultation only" -NO I DID NOT. I wanted to speak with the hairdresser beforehand only to make sure it was either highlights or color. My health has been an issue for over the last 6 months I have had 4 surgeries in the last 2 months with 2 more scheduled. I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF BED TOMORROW. This was the first day in 3 months I felt go enough to leave the house. I don't have that option. Brenda, the hairdresser did a good job on the haircut-but I will never be back to Supercuts. You don't tell a customer sitting in the chair to come back tomorrow, because a few employees are going to go home soon. The old lady had a rude demeanor and tone when I asked anout a certain haircut and she got all defensive about the establishment being old and new like the kids want it. I've had my hair cut with almost everyone in this location and they were prefect, exactly what I wanted. Today I went in and was seated with women named Ana. After asking what I would like, almost instantly she told me it couldn't be done. All I wanted was to cut my hair where it curved, with an attitude she then proceeded to pull me back, to sit straight and grabbed the back of my hair and said no matter what this will be curled. I tried explaining that it was the front not the back. Each time I tried to show her how to do it she would shut me up (specifically put her hand up and said eh eh eh eh) I asked her if she was okay cause she was so mad about my hair. No rhyme or reason. No measuring. I thought she was going for some new modern hair cut but boy was I wrong. THERE IS NOT A HAIR ON MY HEAD THAT IS EVEN, it is chopped. Short like a boy and you can tell. I will be wearing a hat. I personally thought she was going crazy for that 2 min she ruins her very nice hair cut. And I was quoted one price for color and she upped it. I gave her a very good tip because I wanted to get out fast. You get what u pay for. I've been coming to this Redwood City branch of Supercuts now for over a year. It is your run of the mill chain hair salon. As I'm looking for a basic haircut it serves my purpose well. It is located in the Sequoia Station plaza that has a large parking lot where getting a spot at peak hours is a little tough as there are a ton of business in the same plaza. I generally drop by unannounced as the wait is about 10-15 minutes but they do have some web based check-in system that you may want to try using. The striking thing about this location is that I've almost never encountered the same hair dresser twice even though I'm in once every 6 weeks. The quality of hair cut is completely dependent on the mood of the hair dresser that you end up with on a particular day. They don't seem to have any standardization even for the most simplest of cuts that I get, so sometimes I end up with someone who is willing to take a little effort to level out the hair with a pair of scissors but most times it's a quick run of the the machine around the head and out in under 5 minutes. It's like you are a burden that they want off their backs. Price for a hair cut currently stands at $17 (up from $16 a couple of months ago). If you visit the Safeway in the same plaza, your receipt will have a $3 off coupon (down from $4 a couple of months ago) so use that for an all in price of $16 which is a tad more than what you would pay at independent hair salons. I still keep coming here as there is hardly any wait when compared to independent hair salons. Overall even if you are looking for a basic hair cut this location just about makes the cut. read more

When i entered they said "We have no certification to do eyebrows. SORRY and person who had it left. Then some person-in-charge came to talk to me. Here's the thing Yelpers... Supercuts isn't upscale.. although their staff is friendly and able to do a good job, they aren't Tabitha. That's fine. For $17, I think that we should all accept that. Kapeesh? I really don't know what you guys expect. I've had expensive hair cuts and frankly, I wear my hair in a straight blunt cut, I don't need to spend a lot for the maintenance. I spend more than enough on coloring..that's another story. The people who work at Supercuts are nice enough and are willing to do the basics...if you want to pay for chopped liver and receive prime rib then you are setting yourself up for failure.
