She was very rough, the comb and the brush were really hard, and the hairdryer was on super super hot, which was very alarming. Affordable, no frills women's hair cut. Would return! I wasn't sure how the haircut was going to turn out before I went but I've experienced my fair share of dissatisfaction with expensive hair cuts that I thought I'd try this one (also it's open every day of the week). I wasn't disappointed at all. However do note it's a no frills kind of place. I was in and out in 30 mins but I still felt the hairdresser did a thorough job. Tina always does a great job on my hair, listens to what I really want (I used to bring a photo !) and is pleasureable in communicating. The price is certainly reasonable. Sometimes the wait is long, but one can sign up from home, so one can get one's name on the list. I used to call, but can no longer get through. The phone is set so they can't take calls any more, I guess (frustrating when I want to find out if Tina is there today). I live close, so sometimes I drive over just to see if she is there or not, since the phone is blocked. I'm glad they offer a senior discount. It's a happy place, generally. read more

TO MEN WITH THINNING HAIR: HARD AVOID! 48yo man here.. went in for a cut today, with a lot of built up skepticism. My girlfriend had stormed out of here after being summarily ignored for nearly 20 mins.. even tho she was on the waitlist, multiple customers were taken out of order, etc. But not so much as a hello. Back to my story. It started plesantly enough, with Rosario saying, "Thanks for coming in!" enthusiastically. Great start. Then, halfway through the cut (once i was thoughly stuck with a half cut head of hair), she mumbles something about me needing a new shampoo. I explained that i need medicated shampoo for the psoriasis on my scalp. She literally turned her back, stormed toward the front of the shop, dismissively waved her hand at my condition, and returned to loudly slam a package of Bosley brand shampoo for thinning hair in front of me. After my repeated insistance that i dont want and cannot use her snake oil garbage shampoo ($55 a box), she continues trying to upsell me. After being silent and visibly frustrated for several ackward minutes at her failure to upsell, she puts on a fake happy voice and chirps, "What a lovely day outside, huh?" Yeah, go ahead and try to salvage your tip you succubus. I have a totally normal bald patch for my age, and am happy to have not doused expensive BS to try to regrow it on my head in 10 years. I will never be back to this establishment, and i advise you to stay away unless you like being insulted. read more

Tina is amazing, I just went in last week to get my haircut; told her I needed to clean it up (it looked like an over grown garden - at least in my opinion). She restyled it and it turned out beautiful, absolutely beautiful! It's what I needed. Been going here for a long time and I love everyone there and Jasmine cuts my hair perfectly. BUT MY BIGGEST ISSUE on my last visit!!!! Why is the radio playing nothing but Sad slow old country music?! All the ladies looked depressed cutting hair, I watched a Gentleman that was waiting and he started to fall sleep. The assumption that Great Clips has standardized their level of customer service and quality of cut across all stores is far from reality. Having said that, the Great Clips in Woodside Plaza is the best one in Redwood City as far as customer service, quality of cut, timeliness and overall efficiency. Yes, this is my personal anecdotal experience, and I understand that. But I've been to multiple Great Clips in the area and can say with confidence that I would trust a solid experience here, every time. read more

This was my first time trying out Great Clips - I was in a hurry due to a few important engagements and my regular hair dresser was not available. It was a great experience. I was greeted by Kimmy who very quickly checked me in. She took me to my seat and asked me how I would like my hair done. I explained my requirements and Kimmy asked for clarification (I really liked that) - then started to cut my hair as I asked. She took my feedback during the cut and was very careful about not using clippers but used scissors to trim/thin my bushy side. She did a fantastic job - I had a very positive interaction with her and it was quick and easy. I will definitely go back! read more

I don't say this about a lot of salons, but I think they do an awesome job (on my husband and daughter's hair). I'm really thankful that Great Clips is 5 minutes from my house. They've done my husband's hair for years at this point, and we had stumbled on it being the only place open / with availability at 5:30PM on a Saturday at the time. Fast forward a couple years, and they are still doing my husband's hair, and now along with my daughter's hair. Pros: If you have children, the stylists seem well adjusted to working with children. There were 2 child cuts going on when we arrived and these were toddlers who seemed to be getting a first haircut (based on the amount of direction from moms). Our regular stylist, Han, was amazing with my daughter who is not the calmest kid and can be frightened by pretty much everything. Han was not pushy, and cut as much as possible noting my daughter's comfort level. Note the pics -- she took it a lot better than I expected ;-) Lollypops for the lil ones after a haircut! Play area for little kids with lots of books :) Great for waiting for daddy's haircuts. Pretty clean facility. Price is reasonable for a haircut in the Bay Area (~20ish). Fast and efficient, no frills! Even if you walk in, the wait is not crazy -- they have plenty of stylists able to take walk-ins. Huge parking lot, you'll find a spot Cons: None really! To be fair, I am super picky about how Asian hair is cut, so I go to my fobbed out haircutter and not here, but looks like generally speaking they do pretty great. This is a great place for a haircut. I like the online/app check in process. I have Tina cut my hair and she does an excellent job. The first time I went to her, I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she knocked it out of the park. Tina and I have nice conversation while she works her magic. This is now my go to for my hair. I have been a customer at great clips for many years and I have never received such a horrible experience there. When arriving I requested a specific style of haircut which didn't seem too difficult, but the person I got the haircut from was new (Chi). When giving her my instructions of what to do she said she understood and proceeded to cut my hair in what she assumed was what I said, but didn't even stop to confirm what she was doing was correct. Midway through the cut I started to realize the cut wasn't right and let her know to not take off anymore hair, but she continued to do it her way. I had my glasses off which didn't allow me to notice the problem until it was a mess. After the whole experience I complained to the manager (Jasmine) letting her know my dissatisfaction with the haircut to see what solution we could come up with, but see insisted nothing was wrong with my haircut when I told the lady (Chi) to cut only 1 and 1/2 inches of my hair and somehow she only left me with 1 and 1/2 inch of hair left. Instead of coming up with a solution she got upset at me the customer when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service I received. The place was very unprofessional and rude. The manager was not helpful and rude and service I received was horrible. Do not come to this location if you are looking for adequate service. read more

I first brought my elderly mom here for a quick haircut and a VERY reasonable price. She had dementia but the staff was ever so kind and gentle with her; as they were with the kids that parents brought in for school day and holiday photos. I finally decided to give them a try and as I keep a short "bob" cut, I found that Jazmine knew exactly what I needed. She used a razor; no previous hairdresser ever used that on me before. I was surprised but it turned out perfect. I hope she doesn't leave...she's a treasure! I took my 3-year-old son for his first haircut this weekend at Great Clips. The staff were well organized and quick to accommodate our last-minute appointment request. Wing was our hairstylist and he did an incredible job of making my son feel comfortable, helping us celebrate this milestone, and providing him with a perfect cut. One of the latina hairdresser cut my hair 2 weeks ago. That would be the last time she's gonna cut my hair. That was my first time I've encountered a latina profiling me (I'm Asian). I've put my name online 30 minutes before driving there and when i got there, I'm 3rd on the line. This latina lady put my name again on the thing so i'll be at the end of the line (7th). Then she called the white guy that just came in that time and was supposed to be 2 more person in line after me. After i've noticed it, I told her why she haven't called me yet and she called the other guy, she just reason out that she thought that I haven't checked in online. So, I've waited 20 to 30 minutes again for her to finish cutting the other guy's hair and when it was my turn, it took her 5 to 10 minutes to cut my hair and did not even cut my hair the way I wanted it to. When I told her to fix it, she gave me that look but fixed my hair anyways. Would never ever coming back to this place ever again. Lucky I can't give 0 star. read more

Unfortunately, both the customer service and the haircut I received at this store were bad. I did check in online, and was the first person on their TV screen and next in line. However, the stylist decided to take care of another customer first, and then told me to wait a bit longer for the next available stylist, which ended up being another ten minute wait. She proceeded to talk about my behind my back since I complained that this is not the right order. The next stylist, either because of her inability or because she sided with her colleague gave me a horrible haircut. Just taking her machine, browsing over my head and sending me off. Well... went in for a simple men's haircut... Good location and nice place. But the results were less than good. They were nice people and they followed all the right procedures. But the woman cutting hair was in a rush (even though no one was waiting) and just didn't do a good job. Surprisingly the charge for the haircut was $20 (not including tip). That seems high all things considered. I doubt I'd go there again. read more

So this was for my son 4yrs old. So we were next to get a haircut and 2 other guys walk in that said they booked online and went before us. Then the receptionist that also cuts, rushes her haircut gets that guy outta the way. And calls my son I said he needs a fade. I don't know exactly how long I've been coming here, but it's been at least 5 years, and I've never had a bad haircut. They give a senior discount, which I appreciate, and their prices are very fair. With the online sign-in option, there's rarely a wait, and I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 5 minutes once I got there. All the stylists are courteous and even though they do the job quickly, I'm always very pleased with the result. Jasmine, Tina, and Aida have cut my hair numerous times, and the experience has always been excellent. Quite frankly, I don't know why anyone would waste money and time going anywhere else. It wasn't immediate, but they did keep to their word and I was the next person to get their hair cut. They did a decent job! Honestly, one of the best haircuts I've had time and again. Lived in many places, had many barbers both cheap and expensive, but this great clips in particular is different. I never would have even though about getting my hair cut at great clips before this place. If you're working in tech just moved here make sure you check in on the app first.
