We are quite loyal to the Super Cuts in Mission Valley, as "Michael" has performed miracles for both myself and my hubby AND today I joined my girlfriend at this Super Cuts off Mira Mesa Blvd, [on Hibert St.] so we could both have this experience together before going to the Safari Park. To my delight, we both got in promptly, had terrific haircuts from "Rene" and "Rita," who finished at the same time, took a few "after" pics (won't show the "before" haircuts) and were on our way as both stylists helped start our day in a most fun way. I seldom do Yelp reviews, but this one is overdue. I have been getting my hair cut at the Scripps Ranch Super Cuts for many years. My experience over the years has been great. It starts with the owner Rene and then to the amazing staff he has. I normally have Nicole cut my hair. She is does an excellent job every time and she's always so happy and upbeat, really makes it enjoyable to get a haircut. So, if you`re looking for a shop where you`re valued as a customer and they always want you happy with your hair care this is the place to go. Highly recommend paying attention, at the cash register. Was loyal to the salon for over a year with my Mom. Sometimes she recieved wash & Style only, sometimes Wash, cut & style but frequently there was $5-10 difference in pricing charged for the same services. On last visit, Owner Rene overcharged my 87 yr old Mom $25 and when the situation was brought to his attention he denied it and would not provide the refund. Went to this location today for the first time. Walked in and didn't have to wait! I was greeted by Kayla who also gave me my haircut....Kayla was awesome...great customer service and then followed that up with a great haircut as well. I always appreciate someone that tries to make you comfortable. The store was very clean and organized. Outside the parking lot is large and easy to find a space. Came here and figured what could go wrong with such a simple, basic cut Asking for 1/2" trim straight across- no layering, nothing fancy... Rita gave me the most choppy, uneven, short and awkward face framing pieces that will take 6-12 months to grow out. Shorter pieces behind longer pieces in the front of my face. I absolutely hate how I look and how I feel about myself now. What I got was not a haircut. The front pieces have no shape, not to mention something I never even asked for. I specifically said No layers. I gave very clear and simple request regarding my hair. This was disregarded and she decided my trim become an experimental haircut session. I'm never going back. I'm highly dissatisfied with everything I experienced. I regret going here. I was NOT EXPECTING 1/2" straight trim to become 3-4" shorter with short/choppy /uneven face framing (not face framing) layers that I am forced to wear in a ponytail for a year. I regret having faith that a $25 straight trim should be nothing to fear as it's so easy and straight forward. I would pay $350 if I could go back in time and go elsewhere for the basic cut I was seeking. Even my boyfriend laughed at how unforgivable the layers look. read more

Previously we've only been to the specialized kiddos haircut places but as all of these were booked we took a chance with Supercuts. We were greatly pleased with the service! Overall I'm happy with this place. I have been going to this location for over 25 years. However, I was disappointed today when I came in thinking the store closed at 7pm which is posted on the door. I just needed a quick trim, but Nicole told me, "No, we are closed and plus there is only 10 minutes left till we're closed. I would assume that they would make an exception considering that I'm a long time customer and as Renee, the store manager stated previously, if a long time customer like myself showed up 10 minutes before the store closed, I would have made an exception. 2 stars because it's a mix review, well only one thing is good and I have many bad things to tell. I went in for eyebrows waxing and hair wash. The lady who attended to me washed my hair and let my cold head lie in the basin while she then took over my eyebrows. I had to tell her to wrap my head at the least because I had a bad cold. She was horrible at doing eyebrows, she couldn't take off all the hair from a target area, little hair were still on above my eyebrows, I had to pluck them myself after getting home. She left wax stuck in my hair(which she had just washed before setting foot on my eyebrows) and eyebrows which were a hassle for me to clean later. The only thoughtful thing she did was to blow dry my hair a bit and tie them in a braid before I left to get home because I emphasized on my cold. I have been putting this review off for a bit over a week now, trying to find the best way to handle this situation. I'm just gonna say it. The thing that all stylists hate, myself included. When people say, "I used to do hair...." Well, I did. I left to spend more time with family, but I do still have a few clients. I love Supercuts. I even worked there for a few years. I like going to Supercuts to get my hair cut because I believe in their technique. I usually go to my friend at the Santee location, but this location is really close to my work and my kids school. I am not picky. It doesn't take much to please me. I just want it done correctly. I get a pretty standard cut that all stylists learn in cosmetology school. I have gotten my brows & haircut twice here. They do great on my brows. Unfortunately, I have not had the best of luck with my haircuts at this location which is really disappointing. These stylists know what they are doing, but they are rushing & not checking their work. I know this because both times I watched to see if they would check it & they didn't. This is cause for many mistakes. My first haircut here had a hole in it, the shape was rounded which I'm not a fan, & the layers were way too long which caused it to be very bulky & heavy. I did go back to have it fixed, but I was still not 100% satisfied. This time around, it felt amazing, it looked good, it felt good, & I was happy. Until I got home & styled it. The guide they used for the layers was way to thick, which created a very shelf-like layer that was very visible. The layers are extremely disconnected & unbalanced. There is also a pinch of strands that didn't get cut, so it is longer than everything else. I highly recommend to all stylists, please check your work. It does not take long. Even if you have a whole waiting area full of people, just take a minute or two to check it. It will highly benefit in the long run. read more

We got some harsh critics out there, but with every hair salon, it really is unfair to rate the WHOLE establishment based on a few bad experiences you know ..and hey each hair dresser is different right ?! What can I say? I was in dire need of another 'do' change. I know. I know. What happened to growing my hair out ? Well, let's just say my hair wasn't growing out the way I wanted and it was hmm...boring IMO. Shaynizzle needed a change. My reason: New year = New do ! It was 'meant to be.' Spontaneous day out. Whatdya kno? A Supercuts ? Walked in and Rachelle was working ! Score ! Even better, it was DEAD. No long wait. Within 30 minutes, I had a quick hair makeover and a complimentary style done for only $15 ! You heard right ! 15 measly dollars ! Rachelle was great. My cut isn't over the top. Just a simple, even length V-cut. Low maintenance (just the way I like it). She demonstrated the easy steps to style it using a flat iron and I loved it. The best $15 dollars I've spent on a haircut in a loooooong time ! I can't speak for the other hairstylists, but Rachelle provided wonderful customer service and was friendly as can be. I just left Supercuts and I cannot recommend this place enough. I called as I was driving over to check the wait and the gentleman who answered the phone was so friendly and helpful. Then, I arrived and had the privilege of having Nicole cut my hair. Now, I haven't had an actual hair it in at least three years because I had such a bad experience at the last place I went. My review which are my words that our are RIGHT as Americans! My freedom of speech that I PERSONALLY FOUGHT FOR in the Marine Corps or face legal action... Legal action for what? Hurt feeling? Is claiming defamation of character I would say don't quit your day job, But in this case, you really need to find something better suited for your speed, I hear apartments always need people to pick up dog poop and will sometimes pay you $5! I'll make up a resume for you and post it on care.com I went to see Rene; the manager or owner at SuperCuts, and he was just as horrible as the other two people he employs. Cruel, obnoxious, and condescending. I tried explaining to him how I suffer from extreme PTSD with severe anxiety, depression, insomnia, night terrors, and hallucinations. This is important because the last time my hair was this length my PTSD was at it's absolute worse and I could barely leave my room without having a panic attack.. My PTSD therapist suggested I change my appearance in order to "hide" from my PTSD "monster that I felt was hunting me" Now that is this length again I'm experiencing all the same issues again. When I tried to explain that to Rene with tears in my eyes, he cruelly cut me off and told me to "Get over it, it's just hair, it grows back, suck it up, deal with it." I was appalled! I've had to return to PTSD therapy again! I asked him for the names of the stylist, anx his assistant manager so I could file a complaint with the BBB as well as with other formal business companies, he gave me the stylist name, but flat out refused to give the assistant managers name.. Nice loyalty. Protects his assistant manager that he's sleeping with, but throws the older woman under the bus! It doesn't matter, I will get all the information I need one way or another. read more

If I could give it less I would. I didn't get the name of the "stylist" who butchered my daughter's hair but she had wavy blonde hair that was shoulder length. I showed her two pictures of the stacked bob my 8yr old wanted. The front I told her was to be NO shorter than her jaw. Apparently that translates to her cheekbones. The sides are uneven and all around choppy. It shape is definitely not an a line bob. Her hair was wet still when we left so you couldn't really tell how bad it was I thought perhaps it just was laying right when it dried. I took her home washed and styled it and it still looks awful just in time for school pictures in two days. My other daughter just got bangs...simple enough right!? Nope! After we got home to style them they are also uneven and look choppy. Overall do NOT go to this lady! Horrible experience. read more

Hello there! Today I went to supercut to this location, obviously to cut my hair. Lady did excellent job cutting my hair. I was very impressed that I wanted to give a tip but then I experienced something that made me not to... Lady didn't finish post hair cut cleaning. I found out later on once I came home. Hair all over me :( Knowing we all live in this uncertainties due to COVID-19 and as per CDC, CA state and county requirement to wear mask for everyone, but lady didn't wear her mask properly. What I meant to say that she wear her mask below nose! Why though? Don't wear mask at all if you want to be non-compliant! Unfortunately! I have to write this in review not as a complain but to be aware what must be done properly. I don't want to affect the business in the rough time. Can you follow the protocol, please! read more

I was the only one in the store thinking I will be out in a few minutes. A good stylist can cut my hair quickly; trimmed neatly and over my ears. I sat in one of the chairs and the haircut commences. The next person came in five minutes after me and left before me. I kept wondering what was going on when the stylist was using five different tools which I haven't seen before. The third person sat down next to me and was gone within minutes. After five minutes later I hear "I need some help." Another stylist started asking me all of these questions. I sat their confused for a second because I said "I didn't request anything special. I simply wanted a trim and cut over my ears." I was finished up within a minute. I went to work today and had to endure ten minutes of laughter. I was told "The good news is hair grows back." Thanks Supercuts, you provided my co-workers with some laughter but you lost my business. read more

I went here awhile back-but that girl's name is forever etched into my head-yup, that's how badly she pissed me off. So she shampoos my hair and when I get back to her chair, she's combing thru my hair. She asks "Do you dye your own hair?" I answered, "Yup." Then her response..."It looks like it." Now then, in my world, that response is worthy of a major ass kicking. But I maintained my cool. What I wanted to tell her was "Actually, biyatch-I get a lot of compliments about my hair color." Then she went on and on about how they're experts at coloring and how I should go to her so she can color my hair. I let her yap and yap some more, because this girl LOVES to hear herself talk. The cut was nothing fabulous. I'd go somewhere else, but that's my OPINION. The name of offending party is held to protect the insanely stupid. P.S. My friend called Monday to book back to back appointments for updos. We expressed we were doing 1920s themed hair as we're going to a great gatsby party. Confirmed date, time and price. Great! We walked in today prepared w our pictures of what we wanted or something similar. The girl that helped us, supposedly the assistant manager said. " I can't really do that, that's more advanced, I can curl your hair. I don't really know why they assigned me updos to be honest I can't really do them." Greeeeeattttttttt She did her best. However she literally just curled my friends hair. That's it nothing else! She could have done that at home. I expressed I didn't want my hair entirely up. Well my hairs entirely up because she said she doesn't really know how to work with long hair Okay whatever it's brushed. So I go to pay. She wants to charges $10 more per person that I was told. I have never been to this location before, but I went yesterday, and Lonnie was my hairdresser. Instantly, we hit it off. She was very nice, polite, and professional. She made me feel comfortable, and knew what I wanted. We talked about my wedding coming up next year, and I got to show her ideas of what I wanted my hair to look like for the wedding. I feel much more comfortable now on knowing how to make that hair happen. I appreciated her for listening and for doing a great job on correcting my past cut, and for making my curls pop! On 27Jan2021, I dropped off my wife at Supercuts, 9872 Hibert St # D3, San Diego, CA 92131. Owner Renee's wife got hair dye on the outside neck of my wife's sweater. I called Supercuts and she said she thought she had gotten the stain out. I said it was very visible, especially outdoors, the sweater was ruined, and I wanted $25 dollars refunded as compensation. I drove back to the salon to talk with owner Renee, showed him the sweater and again asked for a refund of $25 dollars to compensate for it. He said that "to be fair", I had to find the exact same sweater, purchase it and bring it in with the receipt, and give him the receipt and the old sweater in order to get refunded. I could not find the sweater online, as the tag # was no longer being sold. I spent 30 mins scrubbing the stain at home, then 30 mins more bleaching it. I got the stain out, but the beautiful long sleeve, button up, cartigan turquoise sweater was bleached to a much lighter, ugly color. The owner's wife is a sloppy beautician and Renee is an unfair, downright cheat who would not compensate for it! read more

Place is straight up awful. The people you want to cut your hair are never available, and when you make an appointment they are in the back having lunch. None of the other employees even have the intelligence to come inform you of the delay. You're just left alone, wondering what is going on, for long periods of time. They also always try to upsell you on services you don't want. Stop upselling, it's annoying. If I want something, I'll ask. Never coming to this awful place again. read more

I'd gone to a pricey salon where an patronizing and arrogant fellow butchered my hair. I thought my only recourse was to let it all grow out. An upcoming social function made it a necessity to get at least my bangs cut so after actual prayer - no kidding! - I ended up at Supercuts in Malina's chair. She cut my my bangs to manage my cow-lick and then suggested that until my hair grew out, I could style it w/a curl creme to enhance some natural wave which would disguise the uneven cut.
