Short Review: When…read moreI someday move out of Lansing this will be one of the places I expect to have the hardest time replacing in a new city. Friendly staff, quality service and repair, phenomenal customer service, and rides to and from surrounding area if you need to leave your car for a bit. Long Review: I've been living in the greater Lansing area for a few years now, and have a somewhat older car (12 years/140,000+ miles at the time of this review). I've been to a number of auto mechanics throughout the area, and never really felt attached to any one of them until I started going to East Lansing Auto. East Lansing Auto used to be on Grand River Ave, just east of Hobby Lobby. This was particularly nice in terms of getting to campus - if you need to drop your car off they will give you a lift to and from MSU. They are now located just up Abbot/Chandler Rd, and still give rides to and from MSU. I can't speak for other destinations, but I would imagine that they also give rides to and from other places within reason. The staff are great, and you'll basically only ever run into one of two people working the front desk. They will learn your name and your car fairly quickly and make you feel right at home. They are always very upfront about diagnosis and repair, and put in effort to ensure you understand (if you want to) what's wrong with your car and what they're going to do to fix it. I've learned more about cars since I started going to East Lansing Auto than I ever thought I needed to. Prices are the price of auto repair. If you are headed to an auto mechanic there's probably something wrong with your car, and it's probably going to cost you a bit of money. They are no worse than any other mechanic in town, in my experience, and they also always give you options on different manufacturers' parts (when it is an option). East Lansing Auto is also the only auto mechanic I've ever been to that was willing to admit (and resolve) their own mistakes. A few summers ago I went in with an intermittent noise coming from under the hood. They diagnosed it as a problem with a part of the air conditioning system, and I had them replace it. A day or so later I received a call that the air conditioning system had been replaced but the noise hadn't stopped. I was a bit upset, but they reassured me that they would keep troubleshooting, and since the replacement of the A/C was a product of their misdiagnosis that it would be at no charge to me. The problem eventually turned out to be a broken flywheel in the transmission, which they fixed with no other problems. These days I even bring my car to East Lansing Auto for oil changes, which are actually cheaper than some of the 'oil change only' shops. They also give your car a good once over while in there and will alert you to anything that might be going wrong. If you're looking for a good mechanic in the Greater Lansing area, give them a try.

I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience with A&D Automotive, especially Roy…read more After reading some reviews online, I was a little hesitant, but I'm so glad I gave them a chance because my experience was completely different. From the moment I dropped my vehicle off, I was treated with respect and kept informed throughout the entire repair process. Roy went above and beyond to make sure I understood what they were finding, what my options were, and never once made me feel pressured into unnecessary repairs. He took the time to answer all of my questions, explained everything in plain language, and made sure I was comfortable with every decision before moving forward. What really stood out to me was the honesty. Instead of just throwing parts at the problem, the technicians took the time to properly diagnose the issue. They were transparent about the process, realistic about timelines, and genuinely cared about fixing my vehicle the right way the first time. It's refreshing to find a shop that's more focused on doing quality work than simply making a quick sale. Roy's customer service was exceptional. He was friendly, professional, and easy to reach whenever I had questions. It's obvious he truly cares about his customers and takes pride in the reputation of A&D Automotive. That level of communication and accountability is becoming harder and harder to find these days. When I picked up my vehicle, it was running better than it had in months. Everything was repaired exactly as promised, and they even took the time to go over the completed work with me before I left. There were no surprises, no hidden fees, and no last-minute upselling just honest, high quality service. If you're looking for an automotive repair shop that values integrity, communication, and excellent workmanship, I highly recommend A&D Automotive. Roy and his team earned my trust, and they've gained a customer for life. I'll definitely be bringing all of my vehicles here in the future and recommending them to friends and family. Great people, outstanding service, and a shop that truly stands behind their work.

Working with A&D automotive was the worst automotive repair experience I have encountered. I had…read moreleft a message for Eric (CEO /Owner) or Roy (COO) to call me back to discuss. No on has, so I will share my experiences here. Summary: Vehicle was running fine, but set a check engine light. Autozone indicated intermittent cylinder 6 misfire. Local mechanic indicated there could be an issue with a cylinder 6 spark plug, or some type of issue with a leak in the rear head. If so, that was a more advanced repair than they were capable of and they recommended A&D. Dropped it off at A&D on a Wednesday. Mechanic called on Thursday and said he was going to install new plugs and wires and would monitor / diagnose accordingly. I didn't hear anything Friday or Monday so I stopped by the shop on Tuesday at noon. I spoke with a Service Writer named Jackson. He did not seem at all pleased that I had stopped in to visit in person. He looked at his screen for about five minutes. He then told me they replaced the plugs but I could spend thousands trying to diagnose this and get to the bottom of the issue. I maintain my vehicles very well and was perfectly willing to spend $2-$4,000 to make repairs. The car has been maintained very well and although a 2008 model, that would be less expensive than looking for another vehicle for my son. Jackson just looked at me and said nothing else. I then asked "So my choice is to just run it until it stops running?" Jackson replied yes. I wasn't pleased, but Jackson seemed to have his mind made up and indicated he would get the car ready for me to pick up. I left for the day expected a call that the vehicle was ready to pick up. I still hadn't heard anything at noon on Wednesday (the next day) so I called over and spoke with another service writer who told me he would have someone call me back. I received a call at 2:30 that the car was ready to pick up. I Went in and spoke with Jackson. He again stared at his screen for about five minutes and told me he had an SUV like this once that had the same issue and he drove it until it died. Really? That sounded convenient. I was not at all pleased because I had been informed by anther mechanic and A&D they were capable of more detailed engine repairs. I paid my almost $600 bill for spark plugs and they drove the car to the front for me to pick up. I started the car up and was immediately greeted with flashing warning codes reading "Service Stability - Service Traction control" and the car was shuddering as if it were running on half of the cylinders. Went back in to talk to Jackson. Jackson came out with a device to reset the codes. I also asked him why the car was not running correctly as it had most certainly been running well when I dropped it off. After resetting the codes, he said he noticed it had been running rough but there was nothing he could do. He went back and consulted his screen for another five minutes while silently wishing I would leave. I asked Jackson how this was now my problem and he didn't respond. I walked back to the car and had serious doubts it would leave the parking lot on its own power. I walked back in the shop and told Jackson that was unacceptable and after paying almost $600 I at least expected it to run as smoothly as it did when I brought it in. I told him I was very disappointed that neither the mechanic or he even looked at the vehicle to address the clearly flashing codes or the poor running condition before returning the vehicle to me. Does A&D have no quality control before returning a vehicle to a customer? He took my keys and said he would have someone look at it again. I returned home and immediately called and left a message for Eric or Roy to call me back so I could express my concerns. About five minutes after leaving that message, I receive a call from Jackson that the problem had been resolved. He explained there was a sensor that had not been hooked up and the car was once again running as it should. I made a return trip to pick the vehicle up. I explained to Jackson that I wasn't trying to be difficult, but I would expect that someone on their end, either the mechanic or him as the service writer would give a vehicle a once over before returning it to a customer to make sure it is in an acceptable condition. He knew it was running horribly when he returned it to me but was unwilling to do anything until I put my foot down. Jackson apologized and agreed with me. I got home and noticed the housing on my passenger side mirror had been dislodged, as if they hit the mirror on the side of the garage wall when the pulled it out. I was able to snap that back in place. I never did receive a call from Eric or Roy. I do have video of the car running horribly before they reattached the sensor and the mirror housing. It doesn't appear I can post them here.

Ok so I went for an oil change yesterday and the guy who changed my oil showed me a small broken…read morepart which was the filter bypass valve. He had me take a picture of it so they knew what I was when i went to fix it. He said it was a very quick fix but needed to be done before I go home (I live in California and was supposed to be on the road YESTERDAY) he sent me to this place DeWitt service center to get it fixed. While I was there they said it would be about 30 minutes to get the part. So I went to get food with my kids 9 and 9 months who were in the car with me and came back and sat in the parking lot waiting for the part to get there. When it "came in" he said that I couldn't drive the car in the back which in pretty normal but did seem kinda weird for such a small part. So we got out and waited for probably about an hour for a 30 second fix. Then he said there was an even bigger problem. He said the who bigger part that the little piece goes into was broken and eaking oil. He said it was gonna be a close to 900 dollar fix. I thought about it for a minute and then said ok let's just do it cause I was more in mom mode. Then he said they wouldn't be able to fix it till next week. I was like well I can't wait till next week so I'll just pay for the other part. He said there was no charge because they didn't do anything since the other part 2as broken there would be no point. All while smiling and joking around with me. (I have a very friendly and joking around personlity) so I took my van and left. When I got home to my parents house in perry I told my step-dad what happened. I showed him the picture and he sent it to his friend who is a mechanic. He said he would look at it in the morning. Well it's the morning and the only part that was broken was the original part I was told and showed was broken at the oil change place which is a 31 dollar part! My step-dad told me that they were gonna make an appointment with me to fix it. Put the 31 dollar part in, wait around for 3 or 4 hours and then charge me 900 dollars for it being "fixed"!! They tried to SCAM me and not only that but took away time for me to get home as like I said I was supposed to be on the road YESTERDAY which I told them they. All they saw in this single mom was a dollar sign. I would NOT trust these guys!
