Great barber shop and barbers except one. My son got a cut by Keith and asked for a high skin fade. One side was higher then the other and the line up was uneven. The blend in the back was not blended well. He doesn't dress professional. I was skeptical about his appearance but unfortunately he was the only one available. Now we know why. This place lost me as a customer. Showed up on a Friday after work, and there seemed to be no order in the way the business is ran. I signed my name on the wait list and was told that it would be about a 25 minute wait. I ended up waiting 45 minutes. During those 45 minutes, I saw alot of the barbers "friends" come in and get attended before myself. At no time was I given an update on my waiting time. Finally after 45 minutes, a barber told me that another barber in the back was ready to cut my hair. As I walked back towards the barber, he told me he couldn't cut my hair because one of his clients was on the way. At that point, I decided to walk out. I let another barber know I was leaving and complained about the wait. At no time, did he try to get me to stay, he just said "ok". Then as I left, I saw the barber that wouldn't cut my hair, walk outside of the shop and get on his phone. Horrible customer service. This place might be ok if you know one of the barbers. But, if not, get used to waiting and no one attending you. Came here for about 3 months... Time to look for a new barbershop. read more

I decided to give this place a second chance as my son cut his hair here he asked for a haircut he came out half bald of the shop so we probably thought the guy didn't understand how my son wanted the haircut . So I ended up going for the second time to cut his hair and I explained to the guy only trim on the sides and the front of the face only cut the tips he end up cutting way more super short that is not what I wanted on my wedding pictures awful I asked the guy why did he cut the very top when I told him not to and his remarked says its the style! Great Barber Shop, to me it's the best chain of barbershops in SD hands down. I think they got bout 4 shops now. I've been coming to them since they started in a little shop near J Street in Chula Vista then on H Street. The owner Jerry Moreno is a real cool humble guy. And probably the best barber in SD. Well he's done a good job growing his business & hiring & training new good young barbers. Tho you might not see Jerry as much it's ok his barbers are real good & can handle the job. I had a kid name Felix do me a skin fade & it was a awesome job, I will continue to go to him. Weekends get busy here but don't worry they got a lot of barbers & they move really fast. But if you do have to wait a bit it's ok cuz this shop has big flat screen TV's to watch sports & the guys are good at talking it up bout sports, politics, life, especially if Jerry is there he can talk bout any topic. There really polite & friendly. It's like a family in there. They have a lot of loyal customers & I'm one of them which leads to a friendly atmosphere. The one on H street I believe you can play XBox while you wait (when I use to go I was able too). All the shops have good music playing & are good looking hip shops. I actually feel a little younger when I walk in the shops haha. There real good with kids too & most of the barbers are really talented with designs. I can really only attest to my barber, Carlos, and his customer service and cutting ability. I've never had issues with scheduling or haircuts, so I've always had great experiences. The price is just right but I've been with them while this inflation is actively changing the landscape of our economy so the prices of a good haircut is getting costly too. I know every barber is different and can alter everyone's experiences, but one thing that caught my eye was a younger barber paying his dues and sweeping without being asked. I'm not going to judge this place on everyone I see here only because my barber is professional and takes care of me, it's tough to rate the store as a whole because unless you have a regular barber, you'll get someone new or someone who has nothing on his schedule regularly. Came in for a simple trim. Barber who cut my hair didn't care much for what I asked him, customer service was almost nonexistent. Like the barber just wanted to get it over with and rushed my haircut. I told him to cut around my ears, or "off the ears", instead he left big chunks of uncut hair pieces that poked out on both sides and wouldn't tuck behind my ears. I got a haircut from Jose yesterday. I asked for a buzzcut...1.5 on sides and back and 2.0 on top. Jose was friendly and professional. He chatted during the haircut and even showed me some personal pictures from his phone. Nice guy. He asked if I wanted a razor around the sides and I agreed. He shaved a lot of hair from around my neck. Basically, I'm satisfied with the job he did on the haircut. Why two stars for the review? On Yelp, there is a picture of the price list. The price shows regular haircut is $12.00. I asked for a buzzcut and you can't get more regular and plain than that. Jose charged me $17.00 for the haircut. At first, I was surprised but thought maybe I had seen it wrong on Yelp so went home to verify and sure enough, I was correct. Not that I can't leave without the $5.00 discrepancy, I decided to ask Jose in person why the difference. The answer: Because I asked for the difference in size of blades, he considers this a "fade" and not a buzzcut. Of course, he didn't tell me that up front. Maybe he thought I knew. I've received this type of haircut before and no one has called this a fade before. I think it's also important to note that Superior Cuts Barbershop does not have their prices posted anymore as is shown in the picture on Yelp. I was told by one of the barbers yesterday by phone that it was because they were going through a remodel. Seriously? This same barber let it be known that they could all charge what they wanted which is probably why they don't put the sign back up. Bottomline, is that the haircuts here are probably not bad and that's why most of the reviews are good. Superior Cuts WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS AGAIN!!! My husband just had an appointment for 2:45pm and as he gets up to get in the chair for his scheduled appointment the barber calls someone else up. He explained that he had been taking his time and fell behind schedule I assume. He then asks if my husband minded waiting until after he finished and my husband asked what was the point in making an appointment only for the barber to take someone else? My husband then said wasn't going to wait and walked out. The barber comes out after my husband as if he was in the problem. This was not the first time my husband has had a problem with their services. The last time there was a mix up with his appointment, however, he waited. I've taken both my very young boys here for a while now and always had good cuts, where I have the issue is last time we came here about 4 days ago, they have hard core rap that as a mother of a toddler and a 7 year old, the last thing I want blaring is music calling women the B word over and over and over again, N word over and over and over again, gun shots in music... I was horrified and I'm fine with hip hop and what not but this was too much, maybe fine for some gang banging drive by bs... I've paid plenty here even with their fluctuating prices because the cuts are pretty good,but they purposely turned it up when we got there, and I felt like that was a slap in the face. On Saturday, October 5, I called to ask if I could drop by at 8:30 pm and still get a haircut, since they close at 9:00pm. The guy that I talked to said yes, as long as I got there no later than 8:30pm. The reason i called is because I live about 20 minutes away and I didn't want to just drive up there for nothing. However, since he said yes, I went up there and showed up exactly at the time he said, 8:30. I went inside and there was 3 barbers. One of them was finishing up a cut, and two were doing nothing. But one of them told me that he was already leaving the shop, and the other 2 said they still had 2 other appointments coming in later. So I basically drove up there for nothing, even though I had literally been told 20 minutes before, that they would be available. So they practically just waste my time . read more
