This was the absolute worst Mexican cuisine I've ever had. No one at our table enjoyed their food. The only saving grace were the margaritas, but the problem with those was pricing. I'm from Los Angeles. I'm all about authentic Mexican food, and this isn't it. It's expensive. The food? Meh. They try to add a Cajun element and considering its Baton Rouge it's smart. Cloth napkins and table cloths are nice. What sells here is alcohol, lots and lots of alcohol. If you want Mexican food there's a lot of choices in this town that are much better. I come here for the margs (during happy hour). If you want good, reasonably priced Mexican food- this is NOT the place to go. A full order of guac consists of 2 tiny scoops and is a whopping $15. Not about that life. Their margs are famous for a reason and all you need is ONE to get feeling pretty toasty. I had two last night plus a shot and some other drinks later and let me tell you, not a good idea today. The food is OK, but not at all worth the price and really there's nothing special about it at all. We went back with my aunt a few weeks ago and I ordered the filet again and gave her a piece to try. The next morning she called me and said she can't stop thinking about that steak! Superior never disappoints! This joint is famous for their happy hour and margaritas from 3:00-6:30PM. We got the Tortilla Soup, which is always divine. We followed it with the Superior Platter™, which consists of the Superior enchilada, chicken enchilada and beef taco, served with rice and beans. Super tasty and filling! We sipped on the Top Shelf Margarita (Frozen or On the Rocks), which contains El Jimador Reposado Tequila, Gran Gala & Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice! Overall, we definitely recommend. However; outside of the atmosphere, drinks, and service I wouldn't necessarily make this my first dining out choice. The food is way over priced and it's not seasoned or tasty at all. Pretty much everything we ordered was either dry or very tasteless. For the prices you're paying for under seasoned dry food you should be receiving larger portions. if you have a food allergy avoid Superior Grill at all cost. My girlfriend of 5 years asked for a steak with only salt and pepper because she's allergic to garlic and onion. After 3 bites of the steak she could tell the steak had onion and garlic on it. the manager Maurico swore up and down that there was no garlic or onion grilled with the steak but after our conversation with him he admitted that the marinade had garlic and onion. then accused us of trying to get out of paying for a meal. Simply put, its the best kept secret when it comes to burgers. They have my favorite burger, and the mesquite is the reason. The taquitos are awesome and the guacamole is just about the best around. The atmosphere is unbeatable and the service is super friendly. Come on in...you won't want to leave. Superior Grill is always a favorite! I got the Superior Salad, which is my go-to when I'm trying to eat healthy. It is very fresh! You can get it with either fajita chicken or beef or a combination of both. This time I got the steak and the house dressing, but normally I get the chicken with ranch. Both are delish! I really liked the spinach quesadillas appetizer. The margaritas were pretty good but I wouldn't recommend paying extra for the top shelf tequila. I'm from Houston where there is lots of great Mexican restaurants. This is the best Mexican restaurant I've tried in Baton Rouge. "Tex-mex cuisine, margaritas and live music". This place was packed on a Friday night! Although we had a large group on an extremely busy Friday night, the staff still did pretty well with our table - taking orders and bringing food/drinks in a timely manner. I was super excited to finally get to eat here because I read and heard a lot about it! We arrived before the mass crowd attacked the place, so we were able to secure a pretty sweet spot in the restaurant. As soon as we were seated, they graced our table with some chips and salsa. Before we knew it, the margaritas were coming out fast and strong... large size was price of a small during their happy hour. We ordered a sampler platter of appetizers for the group and I gotta say... everything was quite cheesy! Since I love cheese, it was not a problem for me. The nachos and the quesadillas were delicious. Unfortunately, my order of guacamole never made it to the table, but no big deal... we were all pretty full. After dinner, it was time to paaaartaaaaay with the live band that rocked the stage! I love this restaurant because it brought out many different people and everyone was there to have a great time! The thing that is not on par are the prices. For what you get it's just overpriced and overrated. I did like tortilla soup, until I found some sort of metallic wire in the soup. Thank you for a fantastic experience! We ate there after son's graduation with family group and had a wonderful time. Our waitress was fabulous and a great staff. The place was packed and very lively. Our food was delicious and great margaritas! We celebrated graduation, a birthday and passing bar exam so triple celebration. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. The margaritas are hands down the best in town. Today we each had two large! It was hot out and we were thirsty!! Of course the most affordable way to have them are at Happy Hour where they are 2-for-1 (every day from 4:30pm - 6:30pm.) ;) During this visit, I had the shrimp and fish ceviche off of their brunch menu. I arrived at the table in a crispy taco salad shell topped with avocado slices. The fish were very fresh and tasty not to mention a nice portion for $10.95. Great Happy Hour with half off margaritas, good chips and salsa, but the food quality and the service is MUCH better in New Orleans. Plus there are much better Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge. The fajitas come with this weird butter sauce on top which is WAY too much, and the portions are small compared to what you are paying. HOWEVER - they do have a great burger. Juicy, all the necessary optional condiments such as bacon, avocado, and cheese. I'm not sure if its the seasoning or the fact that it's cooked on the same grill as their fajitas (minus the weird butter sauce), for a Mexican restaurant or any other restaurant, the burger ranks pretty high on my list. read more

the food is delicious we liked everything that we ordered. the place is cool but it was completely crowded. they're not following any covid restrictions, people are drinking very close to the tables where people were eating and the tables are so close to another table that is hard to walk between them. Parking sucks, yes, however it's worth the adventure. Upon entering the restaurant you might get smacked with a crowd of people. Do not worry! Even when you approach the hostess and she tells you it'll be a one hour wait. Just politely decline and scope out the bar area. Someone is always leaving (at least in my experience). Every visit comes with complimentary chips and salsa. Although the salsa is kinda blahh in my opinion. Happy hour is where you'll get the most bang for your buck though. Went today for the $60 gallon margaritas special they had for Cinco de Mayo, I ordered 3. The line was very long but moved pretty smoothly. The guy took my order and my card, when he brought my receipt to sign, my total was $262!!!! I was charged $70 a gallon AND a $31.50 service fee that NO thought to mention we called earlier and was told that the gallons would be $60 not $70. I called and was put on hold waiting on the manager for 30 minutes, the manager NEVER came to the phone. I know they're busy today, even more so with everything being curbside due to Corona but I feel as though they were very misleading and wrong to charge more than we were previously quoted AND that ridiculous service fee, I want my money back!!!!!!!! read more

Went for lunch on Friday. I was looking forward to having fajitas... I was disappointed. I had the lunch combination fajitas (chicken and steak). Let's start with what I liked: - The best thing I ate was the black bean soup. It was absolutely delicious. I would return just to have the soup again. -The customer service was great. The waiter was attentive and courteous. -The mesquite smoke flavor on the meat. It gives the food a great grilled taste. What I didn't like: -The meat was cut very thick, which wasn't ideal for fajitas. The steak was my least favorite thing on my plate when usually that's my favorite. - The tortillas were just ok, I think I'm spoiled by another Mexican restaurant that makes their own tortillas.lol I just don't think I'm a fan of Superior. So we went to happy hour there and it Cleary States on the website (see picture) 2 FOR 1 margaritas (doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out) and we clearly stated to the waitress we wanted to happy hour margaritas( see picture) so that's what she gave us AND didn't say anything ELSE otherwise..other than "OK" indicating she understood what we had asked for..WELL when I got my bill she charged us for all four Margaritas ( we only got 2 apiece.. therefore taking advantage of the buy one get one at happy hour) so we should have only been charged for two of them.. when asked to speak to the manager Jose Botello he acknowledged that the website showed two for one but he would not honor it and told us that he had no power to do so that we would have to call back the next day and speak to another manager.!! .. so if you're a manager ( Jose Botello) but you have no power to do anything then what is the point of your position!! Holy Frijoles. This joint is the best Mexican ever. Pricey but darn good. We had the steak fajitas. They contained ACTUAL marinated tender steak. That is very hard to come by in mexican joints. The TL got something that consisted of bacon wrapped poblano stuffed huge shrimp. Wow. I stole two out of 6 and I must recreate this dish. He was pretty mad but when I made his a steak/shrimp fajita wrap he calmed himself. I was a bit surprized when the bill came and I found out the large margarita was $11.50 and was about 16 oz. (I think) they were sooooo good tho. I would say just go here when you want expensive Mexican and go somewhere cheaper if you just need a fixx. Super Super Duper enjoyed lunch. Honestly this place likes really cool and promising but overall I was very disappointed. I ordered the tacos and my friend ordered the enchiladas, it was not exactly cheap on either so you'd assume the food was going to be above par. The chips they put out on the table had a nice crisp but were not salted and were just very bland, the salsa was good but again more bland than you would expect from a traditional Mexican place. Now the tacos and the enchiladas were extremely disappointing. The tortillas on both were very undercooked, and both dishes honestly lacked flavor. The brisket tacos were honestly unrecognizable in taste I wasn't sure if it was pork, or brisket cause I honestly couldn't even taste the meat, they were deconstructed, which is fine but what they gave me to put in the tacos was jalapeños cilantro and avocado... that's it. Rice and beans were on the side, the rice was very chewy and I honestly didn't even wanna touch the beans after everything else. The enchilada tasted like they threw some jarred preggo on top of it and threw on some cheese, the steak on the inside was the only thing seasoned even somewhat out of this whole meal, but even that was a huge disappointment. The other thing that bugged me out was that they gave us waters with the straws in them (not covered or sealed straws just opened straws in the water when they arrived) which as I said concerns me for health reasons above all else.
