Chicken Fajitas, rice and charra beans, lettuce, pico, guacamole and sour cream. Oh and a side of fresh jalapeños!

I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to discover El Paso Mexican Grill but boy am I so glad I did!! This place never misses with the quality to the food offered. Yesterday I learned they have a different take on the traditional "Taco Tuesday" and instead they do "Tuesday Fajitas." I'm not usually big on fajitas because it's typically more food than I can eat however Moses, our server described them as something we didn't want to pass up. So chicken fajitas was the chosen dish for me while my friend ordered the steak fajitas. Well let me just say.......OOOOO MMMMM GGGG.......delicious!! The meat and veggies were cooked to perfection!! Like I didn't even need the tortillas. I only had one and ate the chicken and veggies. While the meal came with the whole set up and rice and beans, the main attraction stole the show!! My friend had jalapeños sautéed with hers and it elevated it to a full fledge tastebud party! Our server, Moses was very attentive, gracious and extra patient. He treated everyone sitting around that bar as if they were the ONLY patrons in the place. That level of attention is rare in today's service industry so it was very much appreciated. El Paso for the WIN!!

My daughter and I enjoy girls time at a restaurant. We normally order mocktails, appetizers, and entrees. We were disappointed to find out that there are NO virgin drinks here! I asked could they modify one of the delicious drinks and not add any alcohol but the waitress said no they could not. Bummer! First time this has happened. The food was just okay. I probably wont return.

7-22-24 We stopped in late on our way home around 9:30pm. We were out of town at a meeting. The service was great! The food was very good! I forgot to take a picture of my avocado & Grilled chicken salad. But it was very good! The music was a bit loud. But other than that we enjoyed ourselves and left very full!

I'm so frustrated. We've been here 2.5 hours. I've haven't gotten my food. We have a party of 25, and I know that's stressful but, the server is so overwhelmed that he can't even manage our tables, and his other tables. I'm currently waiting to pay out, so I can go somewhere else and eat. I completely understand being understaffed, but this was more than ridiculous. As a restaurant manager we try not to take reservations we cannot accommodate. And my suggestion is they should adopt the same policy. I know the hospitality industry is struggling with staffing, but I'm not sure this was the issue tonight. I was only able to get the Patron margarita I ordered, my oldest niece didn't get her food, and my youngest niece never got the drink she ordered. As a party of 25-30 ( I'm not sure how many people came) the servers grat would have been so much more if he had the proper help. Also, He kinda just stopped taking our tables order half way thru the party. We had to call him over to take the order for our quarter of the table. We had to go to the bar to order second and third round drinks. Once the people that came SUPER late received their food, I kinda gave up on patiently waiting, and made plans to just go somewhere else and eat. Again, trying to be understanding. My review is a 3, cause I'll never give a local establishment a low score. My patron marg was decent. It was pretty Strong too. The complimentary chips and salsa were basic. There was a live performer that was AMAZING! Didn't realize how much I've missed the normalcy of listening to live music while doing outside on a soring/summer night.

I will go back and continue to try a new dishes ! But they also have tacos and burritos. The drinks were good too!!! Service was awesome. It wasn't spicy like most salsa that I taste, but it also had a different flavor. I couldn't really put my finger on what the difference was, but it was really good. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was 10 out of 10 for presentation. The dish came steaming, sizzling and smoking as they sat it down and it continued to do so for over a minute. While the steak was cooked properly, medium well as I requested, it was very tough. Maybe it was an angry cow. Regardless, the staff was very attentive. And the service was very fast. Ambience was nice and it felt very comfortable although it was a bit cold so I had to go and get a jacket for my mom and my sister-in-law. I would give them another try the next time I'm in the area. The menu had a few options that I would be interested in.

Tonight I got Spanish coffee and a chili relleno. The Spanish coffee is an alcohol drink that can be used as a dessert. Yummy! The chili rellenllo was filled with dellicious ground seasoned beef. It has a coating and is deep fried. The pulled pork quesadillas are so yummy- this is what my hubby got tonight. I like the way the seating is here. There are booths and tables and all are comfortable. Though you may be sitting near another table, the acoustics are such that others talking are not bothersome. This is a pet peeve for me- many times I would rather eat at home - but here, the restaurant here feels like our family now. They are known for their delicious margaritas; but the bar can mix most any drink . I love Mestizos, the yummy food and varied menu mmm is the word! My husband and I are self proclaimed foodies. We love most everything on their menu. The chefs Dad owned a Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge for years- " Carlos" Uridales inspired his son, Jim, to open his own restaurant. Mestizos has been in business for over 25 years. Jim Uridales and his crew are also benevolent members of Baton Rouge and they are a service oriented group of professionals. The menu prices are slightly higher on some items, however, scallops with shrimp here are very delicious and perfectly browned in a buttery flavored manner and this menu item sells for 30 dollars and it's the most costly entree on the menu. Their tapas menu is more budget friendly and delicious. I urge you to try this delicious menu for yourself. We love their catering department too!

Immediately upon walking in, I loved all of the colors and the vibes of this Mexican restaurant. When you sit down, they bring chips and salsa to your table. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa or the chips. The chips had some seasoning on them and to me, it didn't mix well with the salsa. The salsa was really thin, and I prefer a chunky salsa with a salted thick chip lol. I was feeling adventurous and got the French toast on the brunch menu. It was delicious! The berry compote and the two different syrups paired really well with it. The bacon that it came with was perfection. I ate every last bite. I did have a bite of my friends tacos, and they were good but on smaller side in my opinion. Our waitress was great and there were plenty of tvs to watch while we waited. This is definitely Tex-Mex rather than traditional Mexican, but it hits the spot if that's what you're craving. The real standout is the decor and ambiance, especially after renovating and expanding. Their yearly Cinco de Mayo party is also always fun and a vibe! Overall, still a solid spot in Baton Rouge for Tex-Mex and close to LSU campus.
