It was stuck right in the middle of my backyard and he swung those massive slabs around it, within inches, but never once bothered it in the slightest. It was quite a show. I made the mistake of telling how great he was and he promptly backed right into my gate. His helper Jamil bent it back into shape of course, no charge. He had some equipment malfunctions and had trouble getting it fixed. This happens with heavy equipment and there's nothing you can do about it. Stuff breaks. Even when it's well maintained. His bill was very fair. I didn't understand it so I asked him about it and he got defensive. He could've written a clearer bill and/or simply explained it but some guys just aren't good that the whole communication thing. At 10a.m., they still hadn't arrived, so I called and the man who'd we'd set the appointment with said he couldn't come because he'd forgotten he already had a previous job set in Union City. -- Made me wonder if he would have even bothered to call me if I hadn't called him. Anyway, this left me in a lurch because I had painters and carpet layers scheduled around this furniture demo and hauling that DC Hauling was to do. Fortunately, after a frantic internet search I was lucky enough to find another company to come on a moment's notice and they did a great job. That company was Jose Diaz Hauling. I used DC Hauling several years ago and was pleased with their work, which is why I remembered their name and called them again. Perhaps their flaking out on my job was a one time fluke, but if I had to do it again, I'd sure call Jose Diaz first. Last year, we hired them to move furniture and items very locally, no truck required. We had 2 movers for 2 hours and took advantage of the lower rates Mondays-Thursdays. Julio and his helper were fast but careful with our items. This time around, Chalo and his helper were efficient. There was a point that we thought it was taking them a bit long to make trips back and forth to the truck but at the end, we understood why when we saw how well the truck load was organized. Both moves involved stairs within our apartment and they tackled it quickly and without complaints. I didn't like that they charge for move supplies but luckily we had enough of our own moving blankets, tape, and shrink wrap. They don't charge double drive time like their competitors and only a 2-hour minimum. While Chalo was the lead, both of them split the work evenly and we never worried if we were getting our money's worth. Thank you Jubel Movers!

The first crew, Vladimir and Luis, handled our furniture and boxes efficiently and professionally. They worked quickly and got our entire 2 bed, 2 bath packed up and into self storage in under five hours, which was impressive. The second time, William and Max helped us move to Oakland. They were on time, organized, and clearly experienced. We were out of self storage and in our new home in under four hours. Moving is inherently stressful, but they made the process far smoother than expected. I would absolutely use Kalin & PO again. Highly recommend.

They dealt with some bulky and heavy items down stairs at both houses without complaint or incident. I would definitely call on them again if we have the need. The only reasons for 4 stars rather than 5: minus 1/3 a star for insisting on cash and charging extra for electronic (not debit or credit card, mind you, just Zelle or Venmo). To me, this is an annoying trend in smaller businesses. Minus 1/3 a star for all three movers spending about 40 minutes trying to reassemble a sleeper sofa - that was a lot of cash burned! They had taken it apart much more quickly, and should have kept in mind how it went back together. And minus 1/3 a star for leaving all of the wrap used (which was a lot, but justified, I think, because there was no damage to any of our items) for us to dispose of. They did put it into a couple of big trash bags that we provided, but we still need to get rid of it.
