Privacy-proof air conditioning. Bootleg entertainment center.
    Jason B.

Where to start... room was musty, "Air Conditioning" was a window unit, which, combined with the drapes, forced you to choose between privacy or cool air. Mainly just in dilapidated condition. Peeling paint on the ceiling, nice nail where the art piece over the bed should have been. Approximately 1' clearance on the right side of the bed. Shower was a mess, feels like the floor beneath is rotted out. Check the photos for the "entertainment center". TV, Cable Box and air conditioner were all plugged into the same surge strip? But the best part by far was the "party porch" right outside our room complete with drunk loud people until 1:00 AM! At least the drone of the air conditioner wasn't enough to drown them out!

Ha. That's so sad, Kat H. I found the lady at the front desk to be very friendly (her name was Deb) both on the phone when I was making my reservation and while I was there. Categorically: Location: 5 out of 5 Ever seen the UP, or heard the commercials for Pure Michigan? I didn't believe it at first until I got up there, but the UP is absolutely gorgeous. And Munising is a small town of only about 2500 people, so when I say that you can walk just about anywhere from this motel, I mean it. It's about .5 miles to the dock, there are restaurants within walking distance, and it's close to a grocery store, and two gas stations. Couldn't be happier with the centralized location of this place. I was able to park my motorcycle in the evenings and just take my time walking to and from dinner. Amenities: 3 out of 5 They do have wifi at this motel, but it's not like I was jonesin' to use it, you know? Why use wifi when you have such an incredible back yard to play in? But the motel had all you needed: a mini fridge and microwave, comfortable bed, a pretty powerful shower, coffee in the rooms, etc. I will say, and this is commensurate with a lot of reviews for the area, that the shower head is quite low. I mean, it was great for me since I'm only five foot 2 or so, but if you're a tall person, the head's gonna be low. No breakfast, but there are local restaurants around. Go there. Support your local businesses. Staff: 4 out of 5 I only interacted with one person this entire trip. Her name was Deb. I called her on a Thursday afternoon to make reservations for Friday - Sunday. She took my info and was friendly on the phone. I met her on Friday when I checked in, and she was nice. I mean, not over exuding happy go lucky nice, but she was very amicable, and spoke to me about the area and gave me a verbal tour of the place. When I checked out on Sunday, we had friendly words. I don't know who keeps the rooms clean (it may be Deb for all I know), but the room was very clean when I got there, and very clean when I returned the next evening. There might have been ONE stray hairball under the sink, but nothing I couldn't take care of myself. Condition of motel: 4 out of 5 Gettin' pretty old, and you see that clearly in the bathroom. But honestly, it's well kept. The decor is pretty interesting, as you'll see in my pictures - wildlife rugs, wildlife comfortable, wildlife shower curtain, wood paneling on the sides, and little teeny tv. Dont' watch TV, you're in the wild. Go outside and play. Pricing: 3 out of 5 It was 58 plus tax for an evening for a king room. This could get you a lot nicer at a national chain in a suburb, but you're not there. You're in Munising, MI where almost all of these hotels are individually-run. It's commensurate with what you'd pay at any of the other places in the area, with the exception of Sunset Motel on the Bay, which is a bit more expensive (all rooms overlook the bay there). Overall: 4 out of 5. Excellent value, and very cozy place. Would recommend if you are a single traveler. They do have bigger rooms if you have a family, so be sure to inquire about that. Other notes: They offer rags to clean off your motorcycles. Excellent that they do, if you ask me.

Quaint motel. Clean with good accommodations and friendly, helpful staff. Easy to find on Main Street. Safe and ample parking- no door dings. Spacious rooms with kitchen area are a nice plus. Walking distance to restaurants.

    Lamp with details.

Old place. Nice people. Gave us partial refund after us having to change rooms at 1 a.m. due to loud noise... Sounded like shoes in a dryer.

The hotel was dog friendly, clean, comfortable, and well-kept. The free breakfast was better than expected and gave us a good start each morning. Our room faced South Bay of Lake Superior, which made for a beautiful view -- especially at sunset (though you'll need a little patience, since the sun doesn't set until after 10 PM in the summer!). The location was convenient with lots of great activities nearby, making it easy to explore the area without driving too far. Overall, this hotel added comfort and relaxation to an adventurous trip. Would definitely stay again when passing through!

The price was high for a room with a lake view but their season is not very long so I understand. The location is good just a mile into town and a short drive to the western sights of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park. The room was decent nothing fancy except for the nice balcony looking out to the lake. Unfortunately the strong north wind and cold front limited our ability to sit outside except for a short bit. Welcome to Lake Superior at the very end of May! The breakfast room was super tiny for such a big place and on a Sunday morning it was cramped and hard to move around. Overall it worked for us.

On September 7th this year we stayed at the White Pine Lodge in Christmas, Michigan. Upon checki-in…read morewe were told nothing except the pool/hot tub was out of order. When checking out the next morning, there was a bedbug on a pillow. I was very discreet as I went to the front desk to let them know. It had already been a crappy morning because, unbeknownst to me, they had been without water for a week up until the day before our stay, their complimentary breakfast had no coffee, no juice, no meats or eggs, the waffle maker was broken, and though they also ran the attached convince store they wouldn't let you get that coffee without paying for it. The front desk person told a housekeeper of our situation then said they were calling the manager. After waiting half an hour because we were told the manager was on her way, we had to leave to make our next reservation. I made sure they had my contact info and was assured I'd be called. 7 hours later I called the lodge back and was told the manager, Amy, had left for the day. And that they didn't find anything else so she didn't know what management had decided about it. I asked to be called the next day and again nothing. So we went about our vacation. After returning to work from vacation I called the Sault Tribe in the U.P. who own the lodge. I was transferred to a woman named Jennifer and she listened to my situation. Then told me she was the wrong person to talk to and that I should be talking to Dan Doyle. She said she was going to email him about what I told her and CC me on that email. Never happened. It is now another week later and I called Dan Doyle to see what was going on. Had to leave a voicemail. It's been 3 days and nothing. Today I called the LMAS Health Department who is over that county. That lady said they can't do anything about bedbugs and I have to contact the owner Ok... soooooo.... the lodge basically said they didn't find any other bugs which likely means they didn't call an exterminator and just turned the room over. The management and owners don't seem to care and now neither does the health department. Mind you, I didn't ask for anything. Not a discount or refund. Nothing but to be contacted by management. They could have lied to me and said they fumigated the room, how would I know? But at least they would have appeared to give a shit. I will still file a complaint with the health department and BBB in Michigan so there is a paper trail and my conscious is clear. I just don't want any to get sick or take home bedbugs!! White Pine Lodge, Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians... how absolutely disgusting you run your businesses!!!

I arrived at 3:30 and the gas station / convenience store clerk/ front desk manager informed me that check in time was 4. I mentioned that my reservation stated 3, she said that is done by a 3rd party and not accurate. I asked if I could still check in, and told in no uncertain terms, no. The place is attached to a gas station, it is a sorry looking dump. It was too late to cancel the reservation I was told so I decided to stay someplace else and eat the cost of the reservation. I was happy to travel up to Marquette and stay in a nice hotel, not happy with my experience at this soon to be closed trap. Mike
