The staff was lovely from check in to check out. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The rates were on the lower end of the spectrum during high season in Northern Michigan. We preferred staying here and supporting local business over some cold, impersonal big box chain motel (which probably wouldn't have been any better in service or quality) The rooms were simple but super clean.. sparkling clean bathrooms, clean soft cotton sheets and comforters (not those icky polyester comforter covers) and a nice TV with all the stations we needed. We liked sitting outside on our own chairs at night.. and enjoyed the fire pit on the lawn! The morning was bright and crisp, and only 5 minutes down the road there's a coffee shop with delicious bagels, Bay Furnace Bagel Works. We brought our bagels home to motel and enjoyed them as we got ready for a big day of adventure in the UP. I was traveling 9 months pregnant and left my sacred most loved pregnancy support pillow in the bed (hidden in the covers) and the owner was nice enough to offer to ship it to our home!!! They are SO NICE here! We will definitely be returning! We loved staying here!

The living room In our cabin had a queen bed-comfortable for sleeping but we either had to sit at the table or on the bed when we were just hanging out inside. It worked great for us! 4-6 minutes from our kayak tour, the sunken ships tour and the ferry to Grand Island all in Munising.

Sitting on the porch an enjoying the sun in the morning was great. Cabins 1 and 2 are by the water but the rest if the cabins do not have a place to access the beach. We came to kayak so it was not an issue for us but if you are looking to hang out at the lake you definitely want cabin 1 or 2.

The owners told us about 13 different waterfalls in the area, and Pictured Rocks coastline which is gorgeous! We had a blast fishing and hanging out at Kemosabe and will definitely go back! The cabins have full kitchens right down to spices and coffee! When we arrived, there was fresh-baked cookies waiting for us that were awesome! They offer dinner home-made and delivered to your cabin---we had lasagna and loved not having to worry about dinner one night. This was homey and so cool! You rock Kemosabe!

Washer and dryer in the house is a luxury compared to other cottages I've stayed in. It isn't perfect but it really works well for group of friends or family. Love the sauna too. The casino is within walking distance, just look out for highway traffic. Grand Island is just across the water. It's a neat place to tour on bike, they also have bus tours and hiking. A lot of it is up hill (it felt like 90%) but, a beautiful ride. Watch out for bear scat in the road. Uncle Ducky's kayaks is across from the casino, we just walked down there to the Duck Pond Bar. Overall I definitely recommend this place.
