The Buckhorn Lodge sits right on Hovey Lake in the woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Whether you're there in the Winter or Summer you can enjoy a great view. They have a great menu here with several fish options, the species depends on the time of the year. They also have burgers, sandwiches, broasted chicken, pizza, and many other options. I generally got the Perch while I was here, but I've enjoyed the Bluegill as well. The fish here is always fresh and cooked perfectly. During my last visit here my wife and I each enjoyed the Perch Sandwich and were not disappointed. This fried Perch sandwich on a homestyle roll with lettuce, and tartar sauce. Though it may seem basic, it tasted amazing! Looking over the lake is always a plus. There's a great beer selection as well. The service here has always been great as well. Do yourself a favor take a drive into the back woods and stop at the Buckhorn Lodge.

Room was spacious and luxurious with second floor deck to view two lakes. Upon arrival to our room we were greeted with refreshing limeade and the best tasting spring water you will know from their own well. Our hostess and host made us so comfortable and gave the best recommendations for sites and restaurants in the area. Our breakfast each morning was incredible and very healthy ranging from fruit bowl, homemade yogurt with berries & nuts, great coffee, oatmeal and also bacon and other items at your request. Although I had not visited when the previous owners ran it, the current owner clearly cares about the Inn and the experience it provides for its visitors. The historic nature of the building includes what you might expect: beautiful solid wood finishes, slightly creaky floors, enormous original windows, nooks and niches. It's clean and there are decisive design updates (period-correct wallpapers, lace curtains). The restaurant was great and a step up from the also delicious but more classic corner dining experiences in the area. We plan to return and look forward to the Inn's continual evolution and warm hospitality as we explore Michigan's incredible Upper Peninsula.
