For today's review, we're going back in time to ride SUPERMAN: Escape From Krypton when it was still alive at Six Flags Magic Mountain. After waiting in a TERRIBLE line and choosing which side you want (You can go either forwards or backward), you board the trains. Once you get in the trains and you pull down the OTSR'S. We prepare for the launch. After counting and waiting, the time has come. We LAUNCH!!!! Now, unlike other launched coasters. Superman does it a bit differently, instead of instantly launching the full 100MPH. This ride gradually builds up that speed. So you slowly go from snail speeds to 100MPH. And honestly, it's.... ummm..... I mean it's not bad. But.... ummm..... it's a bit forceless. It's still fun, but it's not Xcelerator good like it may seem. At least it was better on the forward side than the backward side. What makes matters worse is that by the time it hits the 100 MPH mark, you shoot up the tower and lose all of that speed. But hey, depending on how high you go, you are gonna get some GREAT hangtime and even some solid ejector airtime hitting up that spike. If you're on the forward side, you're staring straight up at the sky. If you're on the backwards side, you're staring right at the ground. Eventually, you roll back down and head back into the station. So.... was it a good ride? Ummm. Well, it wasn't a bad ride at all, it was mostly just a gimmick... Yeah, I think that's how I can describe this coaster. One massive gimmick. It was fun and I do like it fine. But really, the only good part is that vertical spike and the brief period of time you hit the 100MPH mark on the launch. And sadly, this ride's time is up. Six Flags has been removing A LOT of high-maintenance rides without warning. Anaconda at King's Dominion, Nighthawk at Carowinds, La Vibora at Six Flags over Texas, Green Lantern at Great Adventure, Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland and Kingda Ka at Great Adventure (ESPECIALLY PISSED ABOUT THIS ONE CLOSING). All closed down without any warning or notice before they died. Even if the merger didn't happen, I knew Superman would eventually die one day. I hope that Lex Luthor stays, and they just use the tower for Lex Luthor while turning Superman's area into something else. Maybe a new flat ride or restaurant (I would say new coaster, but SFMM has plenty of those, and honestly, there's not much you can replace it with). If you missed out, then you honestly didn't miss much. This wasn't a great coaster. But it's still a bummer knowing that I'm never gonna hear that roar again and that a rare model is now extinct. This is honestly the worst intamin that has a launch. Very short ride and a 7 seconds launch. I would rather ride X2 more than that.

Superman was the first coaster to ever hit the 100 mph speed marker in order to make this happen they had to develop a new type of technology to pull the train so that it would get to it's needed speed what's also cool about this new system is that it's also used to slow the train down as well creating a all around totally useful device for the late 1990's when this ride was introduced. It wasn't tell 2011 when superman added the escape from krypton to it's name when they reversed the trains to make them launch backwards so pretty much this means when you load the back is now the front and front is the back when in line to get on! The overall ride is super short but quite fun at the same time as it takes off really fast and just provides an awesome overall experience as it's quite smooth and overall really awesome! The line inside the building has air conditioning that's always much needed on those insane Valencia summer days! The only really downside to this ride is how loud it is wile you are below it in the park as it almost sounds like a jet when it takes off! Being that it's super loud when you are below it you really don't hear the jet sound wile you are on the ride so I guess that's a plus! I'm sure it won't be long before another trip to escape from krypton because this is always a good time wile you visit Magic Mountain! Now it's time to fly like Superman! As I'm getting older, I'm more susceptible to dizziness after riding rollercoaster. I was hesitant to ride this because I didn't want to end up with dizziness or a headache after the ride. However to my surprise I really enjoyed this ride. I definitely would ride it again but only once per visit. (Don't want to push my limits right?) I mean aside from what everybody knows. This park is in dire straits of a total remodel. There's absolutely nothing good to say unfortunately about the place not even the employees what a mess so today's problem is and always has been. Is they have a Lotta young kids working here which is fine but these ones have smart mouth there antagonizing to other minors in the park. For example my children went on superman, there was a couple girls today around 1 o'clock antagonizing my daughter making unnecessary comments so I asked for a park manager I went to gas relations they don't even have one they have department managers, depending on what department you have to complain about I mean honestly, how do you go to a problem about the problem, this place needs to be sold to somebody that has the money to take care of it and more knowledge and common sense when they're hiring employees read more

100 miles an hour. BACKWARDS. For those of you who have ridden Superman - The Escape at Magic Mountain this is the same exact ride with a cool new paint job and you do the whole ride backwards. If I remember right in the last couple years the cars you ride in didn't really go quite 100 mph anymore and they didn't go quite to the top but no longer. If you've been to Six Flags Magic Mountain, you know that sound that echoes through the park. That sound is coming from the Fortress of Solitude. Home of Superman: The Ride. Located on top of the park near Ninja, you will find the white Fortress of Solitude. Superman has gone through many various changes and kinks to be worked out. Since it opened back in 1997, it has been one of the most popular and adrenaline filled rides that Six Flags Magic Mountain has to offer. The rides shoots you to 100mph in 7 seconds. Just don't try to simulate it on the road. For 25 seconds, it can seem like a long ride. The name has gone from Superman: The Escape to Superman: Escape from Krypton. Riders enter the Kyrptonian's Fortress of Solitude. On a busy season, both queues are open. In slower days/months, only one side and car is available. There are four lines: three with four people and one row with two people. Before, Superman used to be a face-forward attraction. I believe Superman used to be backwards during Fright Fest periods. However, it looks like it has become a permanent backwards attraction. When you are launched forward and shot off, you would see Superman at the end standing tall. When you are shot off backwards, you get a great view of the entire park and surrounding areas. With Six Flags focusing on synergy attractions, you'll notice another ride connected to Superman. Its Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom. Superman's biggest rival and definitely fits putting both characters. Imagine if Lex Luthor and Superman ride were timed well to drop at the same time versus having gravity drop you. This would give a story to this ride.The ride has gone through many various color schemes, but I do like how it was re-invented with the blue, yellow. and red. Superman's colors. Superman: The Escape or Escape from Kyrpton is a fun attraction. With Six Flags' theme catering to the DC Universefans, all attractions from Superman to Batman will always be fun. The wait is sure worth it! I'd ridden Superman: The Ride years ago, and the speed rush is exhilarating (not to mention feeling your butt lift out of your seat is quite terrifying). The ride's been changed to Superman: Escape From Krypton... and not only have the seats been reoriented so that they're facing backwards as you're being launched, the hang time at the top seems a bit shorter. It was also my girlfriend's first time riding this, and she loved every second! Plus, we were wearing our Superman capes that we'd won earlier in the day - a fitting touch! Additionally, the air-conditioning inside the building feels nice, especially on a hot day, and hearing the John Williams score from the Superman movies is stirring. FASTEST RIDE?! I have to try it out! We waited 1 hour. The sign that says "at this point the wait time is 2 hours" is a false indicator! (For the good.) It's quite chilly in the little ally way, so be prepared! Also, it's a tiring walk up, so bring food and water! You don't want to be sending messengers down that slope. Only thing is, I wish this was longer! It's crazy because if you don't know what's happening, most rides go forward...but this goes backwards! Hell to the yes! I will ride this one over and over again for a number of reasons. 1) It's really short and I selfishly want more time on it. 2) It's really effing fast and drops you down almost vertically without the feeling of losing your nachos and dole whip you had earlier. 3) The line seems to be the shortest when both coasters are working. I could probably go on and on. I gave it one less star because I just wish it was longer or they got you on twice or SOMETHIN'! Sheesh. This is one of my favorite fastest ride at six flags magic mountain, because it goes from 0-100mph of speed. Also, I remember riding the forward carts, before they refurbished backward carts instead. They included the movie theme song from John Williams, while we're waiting in line. If the line isn't that long, not a bad ride at all. If I had to wait in line for more than 25-minutes... I dunno. I didn't realize that this ride went backwards when I got on it, so being jolted in reverse going 100mph was surprising, to say the least. But it was fun and an excellent wake-up ride in the morning. It lasts like 12 seconds and def takes about 40 times longer to load in and get your belt checked than the ride itself, but for the 8-minutes we waited to ride, I can't find it in me to complain as it was super reasonable given the thrill and surprise factor. I'm of the age that I remember when Superman was state of the art. Launch coasters were in their infancy and being accelerated on the flat to 60mph was a novel and crazy sensation. I have to say that the theming was also a stroke of genius These days, Superman still dominates the MM skyline with its vertical tower structure visible from a large part of the park. If you can't see it, you can certainly hear it - I'm not sure if it was a deliberate design but it's got a distinctive and noisy launch. If you're new to the park and wondering what that intermittent loud roaring sound, that's Superman launching! Basically, the entrance is at the top of the hill in the middle of MM. There is some respite from the heat in the entrance hallway, which has some Superman theming. However, car capacity is low and the queues move slowly. There are 4 riders to a line except for the front which only has 2. Bear in mind that these days, you get launched backwards After a mini countdown, you get catapulted backwards out of the station into the brilliant sunshine and before long, you'll be shooting up the vertical tower backwards. I still prefer the forward launch because you can then do the physics experiment with your penny right at the top of the tower as you achieve a split second of weightlessness and the penny appears to float It's funny how being launched to 60mph these days can feel so tame but with the passage of time, coasters have moved on and the fastest ride I've personally been on accelerates from 0 to 128mph in 4 seconds. Hands down my favorite ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain! My first time riding this was a couple of years ago, and I rode it three or four times that same day! I just love the rush of being pulled backwards and up at ~100mph! It's downright addicting. During my most recent visit, I was only able to go on this Superman ride only once, since one of the cars wasn't operating. (Even though this is my favorite ride, the frequent repairs/maintenance that this ride seems to require prevents me from giving this 5 stars.) Wow what a rush. I been on both the forward and backwards part. I do miss having the superman going up in the forward position and then high fiving him once you get there as when you go up that you start to fly up. Now you go backwards. I wonder why after doing the renovations how they not have 2 trains run. I wonder it costs a lot or the ride breaks down if 2 are running. It is rare to see 2 of them running at the same time. Backwards is fun as well, I went on the ride 4 times in a row and never gets old. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Sitting in the back is the best however, but only sits 2. This is probably one of my favorite rides here at Six Flags. Even though this ride is very short I enjoyed every second of it. There are a few Pokèstops around this amusement park so get your phones out to collect some items. I'm here on a Monday and the line is not that bad. This is our 3rd time today and average wait time was from 15 minutes to an hour. The inside is very cool and away from the sun. I don't mind waiting inside here instead of outside heat. Each row sits up-to 4 people. You're strapped on and in a matter of seconds you are launched backwards at a high rate of speed. Once at the top you have an awesome view of Six Flags and what goes up must go down, Superman takes you back to planet earth in one smooth motion. read more

On a monday, took twice the posted time to ride, (nearly an hour !) couldn't understand the announcements. Music was totally annoying while trapped in the blue tunnel. Makes us wonder if they're doing this BS on purpose to sell more fast passes. We've been here two hours And rode on ride. It's fast, smooth and goes up really high. What else do you expect? It's a really fun coaster and it was smoother than I thought a 100 mph ride would be. If you are nervous, at least it's a really quick ride, so it will be over before you know it. I used the regular flash pass and the line was relatively quick, so I rode it twice in about an hour. The second time there were no employees inside of the "green room" and I just stepped into the line from the Flash Pass entrance and walked on in. No one accused me of cutting, but I thought it was pretty strange. Oh, there are different lines and try to pay attention to which you are getting on. Once we got in the line that says "Groups of 2" instead of "Groups of 4." The Groups of 2 line takes a lot longer. You think you are sitting in the front, but because you face backward, you really can't tell. I guess the biggest benefit is that you go a little higher up than everyone else. read more

In it's original configuration, Superman was an A-OK ride. In its new configuration as Superman: Escape from Krypton, it's still an A-OK ride. In other words, reversing the cars hasn't really changed the ride for better or worse. It's just different. Personally, I think I prefer the original. read more

Awesome ride. My Favorite at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It was the only ride I went on multiple times. The lines suck but all of the lines for EVERY ride were horrible (worse than disneyland) by far. However, this ride was awesome. Worth the wait. read more

Please destroy this ride or eliminate the insanely loud noise. This ride makes this area in the park exceedingly unpleasant.

The ride itself is pretty fun, but it ruins the experience of the whole rest of the park with its obnoxious noise. My ears have been desensitized and damaged over the years from too much loud music, and it hurt my ears. I can't imagine how it feels for a child to be walking around this side of the park to be hearing the ear-bleedingly-loud sounds of the Superman every couple minutes. read more
