Unfortunately I had a bad experience (fraud) with this store in many ways:
1-Some of the items prices are mislabelled too low. BUT BEWARE!When you check out you wil be billed more than the price shown on the item. In my case it was up to 17% more. If they do that regularly, it becomes significant, especially with PST and GST added.
2-Some extremely similar items do not bear price tags. Let's say you buy 3 extremely similar (nearly identical, but color different) items from the same shelf, one of which is marked $6 and the two others have no price tags. When you check out, you can be billed unexpectedly $7 for the two unpriced items unlike the $6 tagged item. Also because of what I mentioned in 1- above, your $6 price tag item will likely be billed $7. If you argue with the personnel, they always win.
3-Personnel is impolite and hide behind the 'no refund no exchange poilicy'. May I mention that such a policy does not entitle them to steal and lie which the store (?willingly) does by mislabeling and overbilling.
4-Personnel is arrogant. Personnel accuses frivolously customer (me) of possibly changing price label to get a single $1 fraudulous refund. 'I can not prove that you did no do that' I was told by a blonde clerk who DENIED giving me her name when I asked.
5-Cash register personnel enters items too quickly (barcode reading) when checking out rendering nearly impossible to check in real time if the price billed is ok.
6-Cash register price display is far from customer , making it difficult or impossible for him to check if price billed is accurate.
7-Personnel lacks judgment: when asked for a reimbursement of the $1 overbilled plus taxes, personnel prefers to antagonize customer using all kind of silly reasons to not reimburse (implying that customer switched labels between items to get fraudulously a single $1); also asking repeatedly why customer did not come back earlier, despite customer explaining the truth - he's a busy physician and he came back earlier but parking lot was full. By such a behavior the personnel makes for an extremely unhappy customer, insults the customer, humiliates him in public, steals from the customer, looses the customer forever and will get a Consumer Protection Office (OPC) formal written complaint, as warned by the customer, who had contacted the OPC before returning to the store. OPC had told the customer that the store HAD TO REIMBURSE HIM. The store obviously did not do that.
8-Finally, blond clerk (2010-01-10 1300) obnoxious to the customer DENIES giving her name ('I am not giving you any name') - which is fishy and suggests that the person is unsure of her behavior and/or knows that she or the store is guilty.
CONCLUSION: Illegal fraudulous labelling and pricing practices art Supermax Depot Van Horne . If you nonetheless shop there (despite the disorganization and untidiness) you may benefit some of the bargains and unusual imported merchandise.
*BUT DO CHECK ALL PRICES WHEN AT THE CASH REGISTER CHECK OUT- OR YOU WIL END OUT HERE LIKE ME
**DO NOT BELIEVE THE DECEIVING PERSONNEL-
***ONCE OUT OF THE STORE YOU WILL NEVER BE REIMBURSED EVEN IF THEY STOLE YOU MONEY
p.s.: I do not need the money they stole me but as a principle I do not like to be the victim of fraud or dirrespect in any way. May this feedback cut down on this kind of practice at SUPERMAX DEPOT. I earn my money the hard way and do not deserve being treated in such way by impolite and likely poorly educated clerks. I thank Yelp for giving me an opprtunity to share my experience. read more
