fried rice ball. tastes exactly how it looks. rice is a bit mushy. nero was a vibe, it is good. its just not up there for me if i have limited time in rome.
Walking around Rome , we stumbled across this spot. Little shop, long line, my wife had heard of it so we stopped. Had a couple pizza slices and a couple regular suppli. Different delicious snack. Google it for directions, its worth stroll.
If you go in and choose blindly, I'm sure you'll come out with something you will really like. I mean that's essentially what I did. I just pointed to things I saw that looked good, got things all wrapped up nicely to go, and ate really delicious suppli, pizza and pasta. On a Friday afternoon this line was 30 person deep and quite frankly not moving fast enough to quell hunger. When I finally got into the shop it seemed like pandemonium with each staff member taking orders, and running back and forth behind an L-Shaped counter. The customer footprint was really tight, and to be honest elbow to elbow, but not as vicious as the NYC Subway during rush hour. This was a pleasant crowd and the staff were working hard. The conversation seemed endless and the primary language spoken was Italian to which I was at a huge disadvantage. But I pulled out the trusted universal language of the pointed finger and I was able to get most of the items I wanted. All my items were wrapped quickly and I was on my way to search for a place to eat. Once to get your goodies, you are on your own to find a spot to eat. There was nothing nearby so I walked further until I found a bench near a bus stop. True to their name, the suppli here is fantastic! These crunchy oval shaped risotto filled snack, with a touch of tomato sauce, was the first thing I ate when I got off the plane and every time I needed a snack in Rome. I loved the ones with meat or without. Can someone tell me why we have suppli's like this back in NYC? The pizza needless to say was also delicious. I couldn't finish the rigatoni pasta for lunch but it was so good I toted it around and ate it after my dinner! Definitely visit!

The most amazing food! This was my favorite spot in Rome. It's a small order at the counter place. For the pizza, you pay by weight instead of slice. Our favorite was the red sauce pizza, it just came out of the oven when we ordered it. Thin, flavorful, and delicious. We also tried the ceci de pepe and lemon supplis. AMAZING! I've never had these before and they are now my new favorite food. The lemon in particular was so good. This is a very local spot. The staff is friendly and efficient. We came on a Saturday evening and it was packed. There were a lot of food tours that stopped through. We also came on a weekday afternoon and lucked out with just a short line. After you order at the counter and pay there is a small standing area outside where you can eat. Most people stand around to enjoy their food and a beer. It's a great environment and a true experience. I will be recommending this place to anyone who visits Rome!
Suppli is a hidden gem in Rome for delicious snacks specifically, as their name implies, the Suppli. This snack is phenomenal and addictive! A savory ball of al dente risotto is mixed with flavorful tomato sauce and gooey mozzarella and covered in perfectly crisp breading. If you are in Rome, please do yourself a favor and make a visit to Suppli.
Delicious and authentic Italian street food. The service was prompt and the atmosphere was cozy. I'm glad we stopped by to try their delicious supplì.
Who doesn't love suppli? The best suppli is definitely at Suppli! I tried the cacio Pepe and the Classico and with a cold Peroni- great little bite of a Roman snack!
Absolute banger from Rome the Arancini here is grade A Amazing. It's like Olive Garden but somehow even better
Crack. Crack. Crack. Never had or even heard of suppli before arriving in Rome. These little fried breaded nuggets of tomato, cheesy deliciousness are incredibly addictive. Crack Crack Crack. This place in trastevere is always busy (good sign). Lots of different suppli varieties - for example, cacio e pepe, one filled with pork, etc but nothing beats the original in my opinion. My stomach is going to turn into one giant suppli. But I'm ok with it.
The place is super cool with the workers cutting and weighing the pizza right in front of you! It's a very authentic Italian experience. There was a long line as this place has gone viral recently. The pizza was great, but not the best I've ever had, which is why I'm giving it a 4 star. Still really good pizza and I would recommend to anyone staying in Trastevere! read more
Suppli was dangerous for me: the food was so good that I ended up returning several times. When I first visited this location, it was crowded but well worth the wait - in subsequent times, I came during weirder hours (10:30am, 3pm or so) and didn't have to wait. The suppli was superb - I tried suppli at other locations but this remained the best suppli I had in Rome. The breading was so crunchy and perfectly fried - and the cheese pull was magnificent. It was a long cheese pull that would belong on any type of food blog. The rice was also so creamy and rich. If you need a great snack, order one - and honestly, three or four would probably serve as a great meal. When I'm back in Rome, I'm definitely returning. read more

Partner thought this was the best suppli. Best flavor for sure and freshest melty mozzarella. The rice was a bit crispy/undercooked for me but he liked it. They make the suppli to order so that the cheese is amazing in that bite. read more
Still taste the same 5 years later (: I use to LIVE off of these while study abroad here five years ago. I mean for 1,50€ with delicious mozzarella in the center you can't beat it! Employees are very nice and welcoming! They speak good enough English to help you and if you're lucky there will only be 1 or 2 people in front of you! Employees are very quite in getting people through the lines though and food is always fresh! read more

Best suppli in Rome! The doors open at 10am, people loitering around the door waiting for the goods! Went there four days in a row...walked 2.5 miles Pizza is amazing also! Trust me you will not be disappointed! read more

I have had Supplì bookmarked for awhile now and was very excited to give it a try. Be forewarned: it's out of the way. We like to walk everywhere -- and we stayed at a cute little airbnb outside of the Vatican, roughly a half a mile to a mile from the "main" attractions. Supplì is nowhere close to any of these. It is roughly a mile+ south of the Vatican and the Roman Forum, making the point of a triangle of the three locations. We debated if the food was worth the walk and it is not. But the food IS worth the price. They have sandwiches and fried rice balls with a variance of other foods to try. The sandwich was not superb, something cheap to get when hungry to pass you to the next meal. The rice balls, though, were delicious. The tomato was delicious and had oozy cheese in the middle. It was my favorite. My husband loved rice spin on carbonara. There is no seating but there are two tables to stand to consume. There is also little to chose to drink. Would we go back? Yes, if it were a few blocks away. read more

Suppli, from what I've heard, is a small bite local to Rome. It is a fried ball of tomato, rice, and mozzarella. You won't believe how delish just the combination of these ingredients can be. The store is very small and basic: just your average deli-looking counter with hot foods, no seats. One suppli was about €3 but if you had to try it anywhere, it would be here. The suppli was so hot as if just freshly made that the cheese was melted perfectly. I love tomato sauce, so this was the perfect snack for me, especially on a cold night of walking around town. Definitely stop by if you're in the Trastevere area. read more

This was the fifth stop on Eating Italy's "Twilight Trastevere" food tour. Supplì is a fried food native to the Lazio region. It is a small fried ball covered in breadcrumbs and filled with rice (mainly risotto) cooked in tomato sauce and stringy mozzarella cheese. When you split the supplì in half the mozzarella tends to cling together like string resembling telephone wires, hence its nickname supplì al telefono. Supplì is very similar to its Sicilian counterpart arancini. It's also a fried ball but it's slightly bigger like a mini orange (hence its name), more conical-shaped and the filling is a tomato/meat ragu with peas. Don't make the mistake of calling a supplì an arancini in front of a Roman. It's a bit of a faux paus because the rule in Italy is to always eat according to the region. The shop was rather small so the guide brought some supplì for us to consume outside. Best eaten when immediately served. One ball is very filling. Though I did like my supplì, I do like the filling of arancini more. We also had an opportunity to try Rome's version of a pizza. We each had a slice of marinara pizza with the sauce consisting of tomato, garlic, red pepper and parsley. Rome's pizzas are very simple as they are served in small squares with a thin, hard crust and bare amount of toppings. It's meant to be a small snack as opposed to a full meal. Slices had a bit of a spicy kick. With a suppli and a slice of marinara pizza being less than €2 each and being quite filling, it's very budget-friendly for Rome. I wouldn't mind stopping here again should I find myself back in Trastevere. read more

A great place for a midday snack on the go if you happen to be passing by. The shop is rather small so there's only really room to order and then stand at two tables pushed up against the wall. However, their food is served to you in seconds and piping hot. Some friendly locals were also there dining so it was nice to chat with them! My friend and I just shared a suppli (1.50 Euro) which is just a big fried rice ball stuffed with cheese which stretched for what seemed like miles. It would be really great for drunchies haha read more

Woot woot!! Another great place from another great recommendation!!!! Man I am missing Rome and missing this place!! Must try the red margarita bead/ pizza!! after you order they warm it up and POW you bite into this delicious crispy saucy bread!!! Yum! the suppli is delcious as well i could eat a bunch of those but 1 is a really good size and the price is veryy affordable! Wish I tried everything they had!! Highly recommend!! Delicious and great service!!! read more
Risotto ball? Suppli? Need I say more?! My husband, friends and I stumbled across Suppli while wondering on the other side of The busy Roman Center. It's pretty simple. They offer takeout of pizza, risotto balls and pasta. My husband and I got a mix of pizza and a ball to split between the two of us. The pizza was a white base with zucchini, onion, garlic and mushrooms. It was really tasty - soft and flavorful. The couple we were with got the white pizza but it's not the same americanized "white" pizza we're use to. It was essentially crust with garlic sauce on it. They were super sad. The risotto ball on the other hand is where the party is at. They were made fresh and stuffed with gooey mozzarella cheese. It was so tasty, but very savory. Overall, Suppli is a great option for on the go. In addition there are two lines formed here. One for pizza, the other for pasta. Make sure you don't order both in the wrong line or they will look at your crazy. Enjoy! read more
