Staff had a 2.5yr old miniature poodle that was cute and drew attention as she played around the front of the restaurant chasing a ball and received attention from guests. I sarted with an aperitif, the Italian Aperole Spritz. It was good! I ordered the LASAGNA, my first in Italy, and it was best that I have ever had!!! It was less saucy than I am used to, and a bit more oil. It was filled with a lot of cheese and was a rich, heavy dish. My daughter order the MARGARITA PIZZA WITH HAM AND PARMESAN. It was very good. Great experience here, we came because my wife has Celiac and they are AIC accredited. They have a gluten-free menu in the back and there's tons of options. Pasta, any pizza, tons of desserts, even gf beer. When she said she needs the gluten-free, the server replaced her placemat with a different color placemat, different color water glass, and silverware and napkin in a protected paper cover. They REALLY know how to ensure celiac safety here and we loved that. The dough on the pizza wasn't the best we've had in Italy but it was still very good. I had the caccio e pepe with fresh regular pasta and it was very good. The servers were attentive and it was cool to sit outside the Campo de' Fiori market. Definitely recommend. read more

Food was good to very good: Pasta Bolognese - 4/5: simple dish that just works. Pretty big portion with a good meat sauce. Pasta Carbonara - 3/5: traditional carbonara but too salty. One of two restaurants we ate at in this piazza. Neither one was worth it. We had caprese salad, Tonnarelli seafood pasta, spaghetti with meatballs, tiramisu and house white wine. If I could give a half-star, Mercado Hostaria would have 3.5 stars from me. The patio of Mercado Hostaria called to my friends and I when we explored Campo di Fiore on a Sunday afternoon. We'd already looked through the market and wanted to sit down and eat. The host was very personable and funny as he talked to us while we looked at the menu board. When he told us that they did have gluten free pasta, we decided to sit down and eat here. We ordered fairly quickly, and I confirmed with our server that my meal needed to be both gluten and dairy free. He made a note in his phone that my spaghetti pomodoro was gluten free and without cheese. My friends ordered a pizza and a gnocchi dish. The food started to come out in a fair amount of time. But after my friends got their orders sat in front of them, the server looked at mine, shook his head and walked away without another word. I figured it was probably not gluten free -- turns out I was right. Several minutes later, a woman from the kitchen came out to apologize for the mistake and let me know my gluten free pasta would be out soon, they were remaking it. I was grateful they caught it before giving it to me! I told my friends to go ahead and eat and they did... good thing, too, because my food didn't come out until at least 25 minutes after the woman's apology. We didn't note the time before then, so it might've been closer to 40 minutes between when my friends received their food and my dish came out correctly. Mistakes happen, and they did apologize three or four different times. The wait to get the correct order was a bit long for a simple pasta dish, though, in my opinion. When the gluten free spaghetti pomodoro did come out, I wasn't super impressed at first. It tasted fine, like spaghetti. Then I stirred it up and the olive oil in the pomodoro at the bottom of the dish was able to cover more noodles. Made a big difference! I ate the entire dish pretty quickly (I was hungry by this point!). It was a tasty meal, one I'd say is worth the 10 €... if it wasn't so delayed in coming out. I did enjoy the people watching and chill vibe of the patio and the food, when it came out, was good. The servers were all kind and personable to us. So I'd be willing to potentially eat here again and give them another try. If my food didn't come out more quickly though, I'd walk away next time. read more

Recommended from our bnb host. One of the many restaurants found in the Campo di Fiore are, and one of the best IMO. They offer outdoor seating, to enjoy a bit of people watching and the beautiful rustic buildings that surrounds the plaza. Menu includes Italian favorites like pasta, pizzas and variety of appetizers, as well as some American favorites that cater to a tourist clientele. The bread is very good, might be freshly backed, which makes all the difference in the world. They also have a variety of beers, cocktails and of course wine. I had their cheese board and meats as an appetizer, very delicious and the bread was great as I mentioned before. Followed by Carbonara, one of my favorite Italian dishes, I would give it a 8 out of 10. Also recommend a cocktail by the name of "The Godfather", think of it as an Italian Old Fashioned. The service is a hit or miss. I've been a total of 3 times to this place and I could say that its not consistent. It's either really good service, or just ok. Overall it was Delicious!! read more

W have been in Rome for a few weeks and this is our go-to restaurant for afternoon beverages and great dinners. The risotto is as good as it gets, pasta dishes are uniformly excellent and we are working our way through the secondi plates all of which are very tasty. May be the best food for the Euro we have enjoyed in Rome. The people are great with excellent wine pairing advice from a fair priced wine list. Perfect location for people and dog watching. I asked if the pizza was large enough to share and the waitress said "no", she said it was very very small. So, we ordered 2 pizzas. She suggested we also get a salad.... The pizzas are as big as a large dinner plate!!!!! More than enough for 2 people to share. We couldn't finish all our food, it was too much to eat. The Wi-Fi doesn't connect and they refuse to help you. They don't even like giving the code after you have ordered. They seem to prefer "non English" clients. The last time we were here my daughter and myself had the most fantastic lunch of fried fresh tiny baby squid. A meal so good it became the stuff of myth. Nice location right next to the market. We were walking through to check out the market and realized we needed some food and water. This place looked decent. Sure enough it was really good. My only disappointment was the service. The waiter(s) were coming out frequently for smoke breaks but wouldn't check in on us regularly. Also, I ordered a pizza and was delivered the pomodoro spaghetti dish instead. Thankfully they were quick to fix the issue. The pomodoro pizza was honestly the best pizza I've ever had. I could have eaten many many more, but they are pretty rich. Highly recommend trying it. The staff wasn't the best, but the food was all pretty good. Make sure to have your waiter completely confirm your order, as I even pointed at the menu to the pizza I wanted and said it, yet still ended up with a spaghetti dish. Had an amazing dinner here on our last night in Rome. We wanted to see campo dei Fiori because we heard it was a fun place with bars and cafes. We did not know where to eat but this restaurant was cute, had a good view of the square and the live musicians (who were all fantastic), and a good looking menu. I ordered the fresh pasta - spaghetti carbonara, which was delicious! It was my best tasting meal in Rome! My husband ordered the calzone, which had a wonderful flaky crust. We also shared a delicious bruschetta and the dessert of the day, which was described as a hazelnut almond cake but I would describe as a cheesecake with homemade whipped cream and caramel. Horrible, rude & I believe they spike drinks of single & alone women late on Sunday nights when the actual Restaurant Manager is not there. Yes, you read correctly. You don't want to be in this restaurant late when it's close to closing time and the Restaurant Manager is not there. Avoid ever being served by "Kelly" and his friend "Constantine". They are supposedly from Albania and Moldavia. They are not Italian and whatever they are doing half the time during their shifts it has nothing to do with service and food and more with selling drugs on the side lane to tourists and spiking drinks including chamomile teas!!! read more

Even the bread is good here! Started with the Pulpo Grigliato al salmoriglio, wow! I've never had anything like it. It was grilled and tasted great, (I'm alergic to that stuff but this was so fresh it never bothered me). The Bruschette al pomodoro a basilica had fresh ingredients and had the right amount of oil. Very tasty. Pizze Salmone mozzarella rucola pachino, another very tasty dish, the bread was sweet and thin and was slightly crunchy. Perfect. And a Calzone classico I forgot to get all the ingredients but regardless of it it was also great. I ate here 6 years ago and still remembered the taste. I came here yesterday while on honeymoon for my wife to try it and she loved it. Yes it's a little pricey but it's worth it. The ambiance is romantic with fire heaters everywhere (outside setting ), musicians out in the middle of the patio playing.
