Back in my day, it was much more limited: swimming took up about 80% of the time, with occasional trips to a run-down movie theater (where half the seats didn't work) and Adventureland amusement park. The one genuinely awesome activity was visiting this old-school arcade - that place was dope, and along with one kind bus monitor named Melissa, it's the only reason this review gets 2 stars. The camp's unprofessionalism and poor care really stand out in my memory. When I was 9, I had a bad fall that left scrapes all along the side of my face and knocked out one of my teeth - thankfully it was just a baby tooth and not a permanent one. Their idea of first aid? A band-aid and ice water in a plastic glove because they didn't even have proper ice packs. They didn't properly inform my mother about the extent of my injuries, so when I got home, she was shocked. She wrote a lengthy letter expressing her concerns about their negligence. Their response? The next day at camp, they pulled me aside to tell me I had "embarrassed them." I was just a kid who got hurt under their watch - what was there to be embarrassed about? The camp's staffing practices were concerning, to say the least. Instead of hiring qualified teachers or experienced childcare professionals, they filled positions with high school students as junior counselors and a few 18-22 year olds as the lead councelors. I remember overhearing them getting their monthly paychecks, well not overhear we were in an open field just sitting around cause that tends to happen there and then someone came with a whole bunch of envelopes and handed them out to them. I remember one girl received just $430 for four weeks of work, and she was visibly upset. At the time, as a kid, I thought that was a lot of money. Now I realize how absurd it was - less than $500 to watch other people's children for a month? No wonder the care was subpar. They were paying teenagers peanuts to handle significant responsibilities. Most of the bus monitors were incredibly mean to the kids, with one shining exception - Melissa. I still remember her decades later because she was the only one who showed genuine kindness. One counselor convinced a little girl to let her "borrow" her cell phone, then made international calls to the Dominican Republic (imagine that phone bill in the early 2000s!). Another counselor was eventually fired for being consistently cruel to the kids - she was clearly just there for the paycheck. While I see they've added more activities since my time there, my experiences were memorable for all the wrong reasons. Based on my time at Magic Day Camp, I wouldn't send my own children there. The administration seemed more focused on collecting fees than providing quality care and activities for the kids. That old arcade was amazing and Melissa was a saint, but two bright spots don't make up for everything else.

Unfortunately, when Brad went on vacation, they switched her to a completely different instructor, a newcomer with very little experience...instead of simply using a temporary substitute. I understand needing coverage, but changing instructors unnecessarily, especially to someone so inexperienced, is disruptive ! We recently participated in a tennis tournament here, and unfortunately it was the most…read moredisappointing and unfair experiences we've ever had in tennis. My son was completely cheated out of a match that we paid for. The line judge consistently favored his opponent. When my son challenged calls, they were almost always ruled against him. When his opponent challenged calls, they were routinely given in his favor. The inconsistency was blatant. What made this even more concerning was that at the very beginning of the match, my son's opponent was walking side-by-side with the line judge, talking to him and even touching him. It was very clear they knew each other and that the opponent likely attends the school. That alone created the appearance of bias and the officiating only reinforced it. After the match, I asked the line judge to explain some of the calls. He had no reasoning and admitted he did not even see at least one of the balls he ruled on. That is unacceptable in a paid tournament setting. To make matters worse, the front desk was extremely uncooperative. At the conclusion of the match, the front desk staff member even escalated the situation by asking both players if there was "outside interference from parents," despite already having spoken to us, the adults. It was an attempt to shift blame rather than address the clear officiating issue. We understand that calls can be missed, that's part of sports. What is not acceptable is consistent bias and a complete lack of accountability. We expect fairness and professionalism when paying for organized competition. That absolutely was not the case here.

She is the worst of all don't waste your time. She is unpleasant and impolite. Not very unhelpful and extremely disrespectful. If only they made sure they accommodated you as they charge you. First, make sure they explain the payment situation so they don't make new rules as is beneficial for them. They have a pay-per-class or pay for four weeks in advance. Apparently, it doesn't work like that. My daughter signed up for 4 weeks of classes which were paid for in advance as they should or as the policy seems to be. At the end of her 4 week classes, my ex-husband couldn't go to Ninas to make a payment. We wanted to sign her up for another 4 weeks but my ex husband had a family emergency and couldn't make it to pay and there is no contract. He paid the following week and they charged last weeks class that wasnt paid for as if that was part of the package when I inquired because to my knowledge you paid for your classes in full. The receptionist was like no no no that class count. That class was never paid so why should it count? I even witness another parent having to deal with the same situation. New policies need to be made. One were the parents are sure of what they are getting themselves into with this establishment.

Some might say they are mean to them, but I'd say they are just teaching them discipline. Something I never experienced there is being harassed for payment. I never regretted enrolling my daughter to Nina's, and I highly recommend Nina's if your child wants to be a gymnast.
