Many things could have been better here, but the staff is very kind, helpful, and understanding…read more Vagabond Inn and Studio 6 is located on the same property just in the rear of the facilities. Studio 6 has more room amenities and both are owned by the same corporation behind Motel 6. Vagabond Inn is a budget friendly motel to say the very least. Rooms are smaller, amenities are on the frugal side, decor and room details are worthy of the two stars they get on average. The cleanliness is the only issue I am most concerned for. Floors do not feel clean enough for your bare feet, bathrooms seemed they were quickly given a once over before the room was turned over. Bathroom fixtures needed repairs, and most everything in the room just was well used. The remnant of cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room was also quite a annoyance. The staff is most understanding here and very kind. They were fast to accommodate a room change once I was not happy with my first room given to me. For a budget minding stay, Vagabond Inn is a good value if you really just need a place to rest and get cleaned up. The beds are comfortable and clean.

Absolutely do not stay here. Under no circumstances should you stay here…read more We reserved a room via Hotels.com. Upon walking in, it smelled like cat pee, and the people next door were obviously living in the hotel with their six rat dogs. If it were possible to photograph a smell, I would do so. The beds don't look like they had actually been made and stripped in some time, all of the baseboards were covered in dirt and grime. You can see how many times the door had been kicked shut from the damage and footprints. Take a look at the bathroom in the photos. No way in Buttonwillow could I sleep at night in a room this dirty. You're better off sleeping in your car at one of the truck stops, at least you know the last time it was cleaned. Don't stay here. Just keep driving or go to the actual Motel 6 about 500' west.

2-stars seems accurate for my experience. I thought it would be about on par with the Motel 6…read moresince it's an extended stay version, but it was pretty rough. While the room was technically clean, the bed cover was stained, the drawers on the dresser were misaligned and possibly damaged, and the lighting was a super harsh white. The shower pressure was good and the full sized refrigerator was a surprise. The A/C worked well also. We never got around to the pool, but that's another reason we chose this hotel over some others. In general, it seems very safe, just worn down.

The floors are CAKED in some black dirt deep within the floor boards. When you mopped the water turned black instantly. We had to use their towels and those turned black instantly. Someone punched a hole in the bathroom door. The door was falling off the hinges. This place does have black mold sometimes in the bathrooms sometimes in the A/C and sometimes in the vents. Yet this establishment instead of having any shred of integrity at all decided we were why that was. When in fact we fixed a lot of that just to sit down for a few weeks. Thanks motel 6 enjoy the 3000 ish dollars over 2 21 day periods. Also when we left the first time and came back they complained about the towels and sheets. I think they are racist. I think this is a descriminitory issue because the rooms were not clean. We cleaned them. We did their jobs. All they do is TAKE YOUR MONEY . FLIES EVERYWHERE THOUSANDS OF THEM. Looks like a plague fr. We just are able to endure a lot but people take our kindness for weakness but I dont know how many health violations I found off the top of my head. Good day and God Bless.

While it is clear that the management tries hard - this is the most atrocious hotel I have ever had…read morethe displeasure of spending the night. All the other big chain hotels were full - no vacancy anywhere on the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. We found a vacancy here - but couldn't get into our room due to a card key/door malfunction. A new key and different room didn't work any better and the "maintenance manager" had to let us in with a master key. Clearly they are going for the "weekly" and "monthly" markets because they are doing some renovations where they are knocking down a wall between two rooms, putting a sofa and oversized crappy tv armoire in the other room. In fact, there were still open holes in the walls and crumbled sheetrock on the carpets. There are still two bathrooms (shower stall only) - and a distinct lack of sufficient overhead or task light. The controls for the thermostat didn't work well (one in each room) and the linens had clearly seen better days. We felt very fortunate that we did not end up with lice or bedbugs. The beds were so uncomfortable that we probably would have been better served sleeping in the car. We were so disoriented in the morning that we continued South on Hwy 5 instead of taking 58 east into Bakersfield as we intended, such was our haste to make tracks away from this awful hotel.
