I stayed here for a single night, August 14th. The lady upfront accommodated me to the room I desired. However, the room I stayed in lacked cleanliness. I reported it to another staff member, she was great. I did mention to her I did not want any discounts and that I just wanted to bring it to her attention. Something else that took me by surprise was the $10 parking fee as I presumed it'd be something included. I still paid for it regardless. Great check in. Super friendly and welcoming staff. I'd just made a difficult 4 hour drive from outside the San Diego area and this was my halfway stop for returning home. It was perfect. Even had a Firestone Mind Haze draft upon arriving (needed it after that drive). My room was very comfortable and clean. Similar to another property I've stayed at, the bathroom door is in an awkward location (this time in the entry). Due to that, there's no way to leave it open. Also, traffic noise is noticeable, especially in the morning. The free breakfast and dining area were very nice. Ends at 9 am. We were kindly greeted by Q who was a pleasant cheerful well informed person who provided superb service. The rooms are nice and clean. The elevator areas and hallways are a little warm. The breakfast buffet was tasty and provided everything from hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, fruit, OMG biscuits, sausage, bacon, bagels just to name a few items. Staying here on a business trip and what a great hotel!! When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the staff. Very friendly and helpful... They truly make you feel welcome. The hotel lobby is beautiful, a lot of modern seating areas... whether you were just looking for a place to chill out, or plug a laptop in and get some work done. This is a good Hyatt Place to stay because they have friendly service and clean rooms. Nice comfy bed and my mom liked the sofa bed too. Lots of fluffy towels and decent water pressure. Working HVAC with responsive controls. I did not like the lighting of the room though it was bright enough, just harsh. Oddly there was no microwave. We asked a customer down the hall if he had one and he said no. Good breakfast with a precooked waffles, sausages, potatoes, scrambled eggs, fruit, cereals, etc. The dining attendants did a good job making sure everything was clean, tidy and replenished. After my recent stay I've downgraded this Hyatt from 5 to 2 stars. This used to be my home away from home. No longer. First of all, the lobby appeared to have some sort of chemical spill. The air was foul and made me gag. No sign was posted. Employees didn't seem to be concerned. Second, no luggage carts were available at checking. The desk clerk made an excuse why neither were available but the bottom line, they took no action to help out guests who needed it. For instance, they had another staff who could have assisted. Next morning, one cart was available. The desk clerk explained why more were not available but the excuse didn't match what the previous night's staff said. So, someone is not being truthful. Bottom line again: no effort was made to help the guests. Good luck finding the ice machines! (Pro tip: the signs are only visible if you are standing directly in front of the ice machines.) They are not shown on the fire escape map, even though it has an icon for the ice machines. Oh, and this property now charges for parking! If you have to pay for parking and carry all of your luggage maybe sleeping in the car would be a better plan than staying at this property. read more

I stayed at the Hyatt Place Bakersfield for 3 nights for a business trip and they had really competitive rates for my company. Staff was very friendly and helpful, although at times a bit short staffed. This hotel is modern and clean. Good for no frills business travels. There was a business center and a gym on the first floor. My 1 King size bed room had a comfortable bed with a sofa-lounge area. The desk area was right in front of the TV and not too comfortable to sit at so I mostly sat on the sofa or in bed with my laptop. The TV did not have cable, but basic TV. You could cast your shows from your device over but I didn't want to drain the battery from my cell phone when there were not convenient outlets by the bed. There was a refrigerator and a coffee maker. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It had handrails for safety. The temperature was comfortable and cozy during my stay. However the walls are thin as I could hear the noisy neighbors and the doors closing nearby. The biggest downside of the experience is the food. Free breakfast daily but the food was so awful. Even the most basic thing like eggs was drieddddd and crusty. All the salsa in the world couldn't save it. I ate breakfast here for three days cause I wanted to give it a chance in case someone made a bad batch of scrambled eggs... but no that's how it is. The waffle was stale. The biscuit was dry. The potatoes were okayyyyyyy-ish. I try to survive on the yogurt with granola and fruit. No room service or full on restaurant here. They have a bar that is fairly neglected and slow, and barely any items on that menu. The items they have are more like appetizers. On one lazy night I got wings and it took foreverrrrr. I was better off walking elsewhere for dinner. Lesson learned. Location is convenient to get to the freeway and to where I need to go for work. He charged us for the parking even though it was covered as part of a rewards booking and the attendant when we checked into the hotel had confirmed the same. The hotel is beautiful, very well kept and the staff we encountered at check in were polite and kind. The rooms are spacious, stocked well with all necessities and the channels on the TV were a good variety. The pool hours are great, too. After checking in, we went straight to enjoying this amenity! They could use with a bit more seating areas out here. They have 5 lounge chairs and one table with 4 chairs. We were fortunate enough to get here in time to grab a couple lounge chairs, but the groups of people who came after us weren't as lucky and kept their items on the floor as there was no where to keep or place their belongings. Also the restroom was locked. The issue we had was the following morning when we came down to enjoy their amazing complimentary breakfast. The food is delicious, hot and Hyatt offers a great variety to choose from. We helped ourselves and when we got to pouring our drinks, the dispenser nozzle came off. As I was trying to put it back on, the lady tending to the breakfast area shouted to us from a little window in the hot food are, "did you break it!?" I was appalled!! One, out of embarrassment as the breakfast area was full, but also because how dare she accuse us of "breaking" equipment in that manner! I replied that the nozzle had come off, and she responded with, "leave it there, I'll come out to fix it". That really just soured my morning. To shout at a guest from across the breakfast hall was NOT at all appropriate. Also, a better choice in word other than "break" could have been used. We sat down to eat our food and the same woman then came out to ask my husband to open a bottle of apple juice for her. In all, it was a 3 out of 5 stay. read more

the lady at the front desk (couldn't quite catch her name) was so amazing and funny. she really knew how to greet and was incredibly friendly with all the staff. had i not known better, i'd have thought she was friends with everyone that entered that hotel. the pool is small, but just big enough that it's not claustrophobic and is actually quite fun to swim in. i got a really good tan when i was there, and if i didn't want to tan there was plenty of shade. the one negative thing i'd have to really pick apart to say was that the tvs are a little confusing. we got it eventually, however. the hotel is also quite close to a plaza with a few very good stores if you need to waste time. would definitely recommend. read more

The worst of the worst. I have stayed at many Hyatts as I am a credit card holder and a loyal customer. When I got into the shower, there was no soap, no shampoo, and if you can believe it, no conditioner either! I was in a rush and took my shower and checked out and let the front desk person know of this debacle. She told me that the manager, Robert would call me as I gave my phone number. Robert did not call me. So, two days later I called again and left a message. Once again, Robert did not call me Today, a week later, I called again and finally reached Robert. He told me that he could offer me a small portion of the room in points as a form of compensation. I told him that was insufficient. He asked me if I called the front desk to let him know about the absence of the soap and shampoo and conditioner. I told him that I could not run out to the phone while naked and do that. Essentially, he was blaming me for not calling the desk and jumping out of the shower to do so while waiting for someone to come and refill the shower essentials while I waited naked. This is ridiculous. Please note, in addition to blaming me for not calling downstairs in the middle of my shower, he did not call me back once. I had to call him three times. This is horrifically bad customer service from a top-tier brand that has had my loyalty. I expect better from Hyatt. I recommend you stay elsewhere when considering your options in Bakersfield. read more

The people were great, the rooms large but very plain. nothing on the walls. look like a dorm room. Cheap furniture. only a small fridge that had the knob taken off so I couldnt get it cold. I asked the front desk and they said they took off all the knobs because a few didnt act right with them. I felt like I was looked at as a child. I spilled some water out of a cooler and when I took a towel to blot it up the towel turned black. The carpets were filthy. I would bet never shampooed or clean other than a vacuum. I took a goog look and there are stains and dirty parts all over. I had to wear my shoes. I should have left but I stayed. They didnt have a microwave just the fridge. I killed 3 bugs in the first 2 hours. On the outside it looked like a really nice hotel and the people were great but in the end, I wont stay in a dirty hotel. stains everywhere. First time staying here... Just passing through.... Nice part of town. Property appears clean and well lit. Went to bed about 10pm, and was awakened by children and young adults talking loudly, slamming doors, and throwing something, running up and down the hallway at about 11pm. Called the front desk x3 for the same problem. I specifically requested a quiet floor no large kid groups, no pets, no smoking. Shower is weird.... the water control is at the opposite end of the shower head.... Shower looks dated, but with a sad soap dish, and an ugly strip of blue tile; they feel it's an upgrade. Quality of work is less than desirable. There are 8 holes total in the shower head for water.... Skimping on water and water pressure.... The bathroom is bright, and the vanity is spacious. The bed was sloppily put together. I am praying they changed the sheets.... The phone is not on either nightstand...? Would I stay here again- unsure...? Maybe the Hilton Home 2 Suites can control their guests better.... Who knows? You got 2-stars because clean appearance, well lit parking lot, and the room was ok. read more

Service is very friendly here, and I would so probably the most attentive of any Hyatt place I've stayed at. Everyone's trying to make your life easier at this no frills hotel. I tried to check in at 8am but they were sold out and rooms wouldn't be available ten am, so as a globalist they offered me a private conference space to take my work calls. The room is functional, very clean, and has relatively high ceilings. The toilet seats don't stand up in the rooms which is annoying, and the bathroom door seems to have a soul of its own (automatically closes). That being said, I enjoyed my stay here- the complimentary breakfast is decent (hey it's free so can't really complain) and the gym is spotless and has modern equipment. I appreciate the little touches the ownership group put into this asset, I think this level of attention to detail is what makes this my go to hotel in Bakersfield. That being said, this is no Park hyatt so taper your standards accordingly. Beds are also pretty comfortable and the optionality of pillow firmnesses is appreciated. read more

Pros: -Continental breakfast with plenty of options -Easy Parking -Close to/Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and convenience stores -Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Ours had 2 queen beds + 1 pull-out bed couch -Friendly service Cons: -Gym was lackluster and didn't inspire a good workout -Very busy the night I was there, housekeeping requests were slow -Bar drinks were poured very weak. I have stayed in a few other Hyatt Place locations, and this one basically follows the same format as the others I've stayed at. It's a clean modern hotel. All the rooms are basically mini suites, with a small living space area with the bed area somewhat separated off. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, and is pretty much your basic hotel breakfast. It's nothing fancy, but is certainly more than adequate. Absolutely loved our stay here! We were in town for river rafting and decided to opt for a hotel stay versus camping. Both the exterior and interior of the hotel are beautiful. It feels safe, welcoming and very clean. The staff at front desk were very kind and helpful, especially "Q"/Kirsten. She had a very fun and loveable personality. The pool was great, too. However, someone had an accident in it on a busy Labor Day weekend and it was closed Sunday. The lobby area is beautiful. A lot of seating options, and they even have a computer area with easy printer access. I had a 30 minute workout in their fitness room and it is in pristine condition! The wood floors are beautiful and the room overlooks the pool. In terms of breakfast, it was great! The eggs were fluffy and delicious. They also had sausage, pancakes, hash browns, breads, cereal, milk, juices and coffee. We loved their breakfast!! We also brought our dog daughter and I knew from prior reviews and guests that it would be a $100 fee. We knew that upfront and were okay with it. Because of us having our pup, we were restricted to the second and third floors, so we chose the 2nd. The fridge that was in the room didn't work, but the staff was very quick to bring in another and help us keep our drinks, medications and dog's food refrigerated. Not all rooms have a/c..... in Bakersfield Found this out the hard way. Checked in. Set the temp to 72. Left for dinner cake back to a 81 degree room. Went down and they had no rooms left. Had to call and tell someone they would get my room with no AC then moved me to one with. Front desk said this was known, Managent just isn't taking care of it. The staff was incredible! I really felt like I was valued. The hotel and my room were attractive very well appointed. I had a great chicken Caesar salad which was delicious, reasonably priced, and delivered to the room by a great lady. Kim, I believe. The breakfast was very good - fresh and flavorable. Here comes the BUT. Big BUT. In 2025 - the end of 2025 - there was NO internet connectivity in my room! 2 USB ports (10 feet from the bed) and neither one worked! No electrical outlets near the bed at all!What's up with that? Even a Motel 6 would have USB's right by the bed! Not clear across the room and nonfunctionable! I think the 3 stars for this Hyatt is warranted. I say that because I feel a Hyatt should be above standard and it fell short. The room itself was nice. They have bottles of shampoo conditioner and body wash in the shower and it was remodeled a short time ago. The only issue was the toilet seat would not stay up so guys have to hole while going the bathroom. Really? I mean it seems small but come on I shouldn't have to do that. The breakfast was above the standard complimentary breakfast I've had at other Hyatt's and other hotels. It was decent. The eggs and potatoes were good as was the sausage. They also had warm tortillas so you could make breakfast burritos. There were also other options such as oatmeal, cereal and breads. The main issue was the pool. It was absolutely disgusting. The whole thing was covered in dead bugs including cockroaches and the bottom with dirt. It was obvious it had not been cleaned in some time. I spent one night at this hotel, but I paid for two they did not have to clean it the first night as I let them know I would not be staying there. From the outside looking in, this hotel looked new and clean. Upon entering, there was no one at the check in desk, but after waiting for a while, the girl who ended up helping me was nice. The first room on the third floor had a moving bed bug, so I made my way back down to let them know and was moved to another room on the fourth floor. This one didn't have a bed bug, but was not very clean. There were bug shells in the lamp shades and I ended up killing a bug that looked like a mosquito crawl along the wall. The table was not clean and had crumbs from the last person who stayed. I ended up placing towels over the sofa bed and table so that if anything tried crawling I would see it. The side wall of the bed had gross stains that previous guests had left behind. Even with all of the lights on, the room was very dimly lit. I needed more light, but worked with what I had. I stayed for one night, which was close to $200 per night and cleanliness should not be a concern. The location was convenient to where I needed to go and the staff were friendly. Breakfast and parking were included with the stay, which was great. The breakfast wasn't bad and there was a fully stocked selection of food and beverages to choose from. The dining area for breakfast was clean. The check out process was simple and straightforward. I was able to easily check out on the app and leave the hotel without having to rush down to the lobby to do so. read more

I've stayed here maybe about ten times - maybe a little less, maybe a little more, but ten is a comfy number. I stayed here with my mom as a little getaway as this is usually a very nice and comfy stay. Until this time. I was taking a shower - I am somewhat handicapped, I do have to use a cane and a brace from time to time - and as I get out, the power snaps off. I could have tripped on the lip of the shower and seriously injured myself. I wrapped a towel around me and fumbled to get out of the pitch black bathroom wet, and the moment I made it to the couch, the power snapped back on. Okay. California is known for power outages. Hate it, but it is what it is. Then I go down to the lobby to get on a video call with my long distance boyfriend. My mom - who is upstairs - is laying in bed reading- called me. Power snapped off for her. I go to the front desk, and the women working there get super worried and begin to fret. One goes up and apparently knocked on the door and the power snapped back on. Okay. Whatever happened, fixed itself. Maybe about an hour or two later, I get another call. Power is off again. I go back up to the front desk, and there is a tall, skinny hispanic man. I explained what happened - and both of those women appear and start fretting. He tells me - while copping an attitude, we had been given a "power save" room, where if the sensor doesn't sense someone in the room, it turns the power off. So, that explained a whole hell of lot - that's why drinks weren't getting cold, that's why none of my electronics were charged in the morning, it's why the AC was off and why I woke up drenched in sweat. But someone should have TOLD ME the room was a power saving room and have given me the chance. We complained to Riley and the morning manager, and there was literally nothing even attempted to be done to try and save us as repeat customers. Just "sorry, that's just how some rooms are". I do rather enjoy Bakersfield, great town, but I think next time, I'll be staying somewhere else. STAY AWAY! read more

The reason it is not a five star is because the room was cold and the thermostat only went up to 65. I called the front desk and they rushed me in a down comforter. Almost perfection but a few minor tweeks and they nailed it! Hotel is 2 years old so still really new looking and clean! Rooms are spacious and beds comfy. Amazing shower!! Great water pressure and Delta shower head. I really appreciate the ionic hair blow dryer. Yes it makes a difference. Towels are fluff and large. Love all the hair and body products in the shower. Clean ingredients. The only bummer is the bathroom mirror is far away so makes it hard for us ladies who put on makeup. This is also the only mirror in the room so if someone is in bathroom you will have to wait. The room ac/heater was so quiet. Love this! Many hotels at this price point use the window units which sound like Mac Trucks when using. Room also seems insulated well as we didn't hear anything from neighbors next to us or above. Breakfast was really nice. Good choices. Love the Tazo tea and real half and half. Would definitely recommend this hotel! read more

We made reservations for 2 rooms 3 months ago. The day of our arrival, we were at an afternoon party and received a phone call from the manager, confirming our reservation, assuring us that our room would be available whenever we arrived. We checked in at 7 pm to be told we had the LAST 2 ROOMS in the hotel with NO AIR CONDITIONING and no ability to open the windows. This is HOT Bakersfield. The consolation by management was lowering the room price to $121. Ridiculous! We should have been given a free room. We said $75 would be reasonable on our part. The manager stuck to the $121 price so we got in our car and drove 3.5 hours home. read more

The place has its ups and its downs, when me and my mom first went there, the Kleenex ran out and we found out there was barely any channels to watch shows on and the remote switches to guide closing the show out, the pillows are not soft at all.
