After you order ask your waitress for the free shrimp dip with crackers if she forgets to bring it out...very good. Fried oysters fried soft with onion rings and Cole slaw were good. Just found this place last week and happy we did! Have been looking for good prime rib for the last few years and found it here. Wife had shrimp scampi that was excellent as well. Add this to my "Must Visit" list! This little hideaway has quality coming out of its ears!! Absolutely darling restaurant, and the staff are just about the nicest people I've ever met. When I walked in the nice lady asked me if I liked seafood and offered me complimentary crab dip and crackers! I could have made a meal on that alone! I chose fried green tomatoes and a combination plate of jumbo shrimp and clam strips. Both were fresh and clearly battered in house. And the batter is a light, crackery batter, not a heavy beer batter. It was so light and crispy and not the least bit oily tasting. And, about the best fried green tomatoes I have EVER had!!! For sides I chose creamed corn and collards which were both made from scratch. Dinners also come with these darling cheddary mini biscuits! If I could have room for dessert I would have tried it, but I was stuffed. No booze served, so sip that sweet tea and savor the flavor! read more

Dining is more than just the food and the people at the Net made our meal an amazing dining experience. Our party of 6 walked in at 8pm to an empty restaurant and were greeted by Amanda, the best server I've ever had in Macon county, who made our meal enjoyable. The food was good. Four of us ate here at the net tonight we have eaten here before every single time every meal we've always had is been delicious and tonight we met the chef Rusty, and had not only his wonderful, seafood dishes. We dined at The Net a few days ago. The quality of the food is consistently very good. The waitstaff are always friendly and welcoming. Service is also great. My husband had the sea scallops which were delicious and cooked perfectly. A very generous portion also. I had my usual fried shrimp which were just as flavorful as always and also cooked to perfection. Everything tastes so fresh and well prepared. The desserts are equally as wonderful. We have had the homemade carrot cake (enough for at least 2 people to share) and took home banana pudding this time - yummy! This place is easy to overlook when you drive by as it's somewhat hidden away in a strip center. Stop by and give it a try - you won't be disappointed. Nice fish camp atmosphere. The staff is very hospitable and helpful with questions about the menu. We ordered a three item combo, with fried catfish, fried oysters, and calabash shrimp. Our sides were creamed corn and onion rings. It was a very generously portioned platter. Two of us shared it (there is an up charge for sharing, but that's fine with me) and we still took a sizable amount with us when we left. Finally made it here after drooling over posts of seafood and carrot cake lol. Was very happy with our experience. We were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. Our server Mandy was down to earth and had us laughing and entertained throughout our dinner. I had ribeye special with shrimp scampi and hubby had salmon with rice. Steak was cooked perfectly and the glaze was Devine! Creamed corn was yummy! The collards were delicious! It's hard to find a good seafood restaurant up here and this did not disappoint! My chocolate dessert was a perfect ending to our dinner. Next time I'll come early to get the carrot cake!!!! We def will be back. I recommend you come try them out read more

Got the white fish with black cherry balsamic glaze. Really great taste. Now if you like baked or fried I wouldn't suggest this as it is more like a boiled but I liked it. Got collard greens and they had a sweet spicy taste, very good. Onion rings were crunchy and not soggy. Price is comparable to other seafood places. read more

It pains me to write this not so great review of a newer restaurant here in Franklin. We sorely need new venues, so we were very excited when they 1st opened. My family has probably eaten here 6 times. Initially our meals were great, but have since declined & I don't think we will go back. The last few times we have gone, the hush puppies were almost burnt. The past two meals had breading on my fish that was so over seasoned that I had to pick it off, only to find mushy fish underneath. Seated promptly at 5:30 with no wait. Waitress was very attentive but the errors in foods delivered to the table indicated the cook wasn't listening to the details. Décor was in keeping w/name of restaurant. Here was my take: I ordered a 12 ou ribeye. Instead of being a THICK 12 ou ribeye, at was 1/2" thick :( (sort of diner style). I wondered what the sweet taste was to the meat. It turns out all their steaks are marinated in teriyaki sauce. A good steak doesn't need to be marinated, esp in sweet teriyaki sauce. Missed having the availability of a baked potato and side salad for my steak. Our orders had to go back the 1st time (meat too done). Fried Cream corn was a disappointment. I was SO hoping this "seafood" restaurant was going to have FRESH shellfish (crab, oysters, etc.). But alas, their menu is very limited, their prices are high. 99% of what is on their menu can be purchased in most Franklin sit-down restaurants (far from "authentic" fresh seafood as a specialty). Unless I hear things have changed, that will be my one and only trip to the Net Seafood Eatery. Do and don't recommend, there is better seafood 20/30 mins away with more variety and quality that matches price. We got all 3 specials tonight, the ribeye is low quality for $28, it unfortunately reminded me of cheaper diner style type of ribeye (also we got surf and turf so it's a little more expensive then just steak, that's fine) but regular price for just steak entree is $21, which is a lot for the quality we received. The garlic butter shrimp were really good and they were able to substitute the grits for rice, we enjoyed that. Their whitefish special is really good, but still 23.95 was a little high. Our drinks got refilled twice, waiter didn't seem to interested to interact with our table and more focused on other tables. There is not a share charge in the menu that we saw, and we had 2 toddlers that were charged $4 each for taking a few bites off our plates, I totally understand charging a share charge if a table orders one entree and spilts it, but all 6 adults in our party ordered a entree each. Our potato skin appetizer was a little bland. We tried onions rings, fries, creamed corn, hush puppies, coleslaw, and loaded mashed potatoes. All the sides were really delicious. There is no plates, entrees were being served on paper plates which I find strange with the type of prices they have. We may give it another try & try a dessert next time. A very good seafood restaurant in any location, let alone in the mountains of western North Carolina. It's clean, well appointed and the staff members are friendly and engaging. This review was written after our third visit. I have had the calabash shrimp, the fried catfish and the fish and chips. My favorite side is the cheese grits. The food was always served hot, a fact that they take pride in. The desserts are handmade and we've enjoyed all of them, especially the five layer chocolate raspberry cake. Decided to give them a try and we were not disappointed. When we arrived today (Friday) 6 pm we were told the wait was approximately 20 minutes. The place was packed with seating for 6-8 in the waiting area which was full. We were seated within 15 minutes, perhaps less. Servers, Brian and Amanda, were attentive, friendly and welcoming. Service was excellent and well timed. We tried the fried green tomato appetizer which is generous in size! 6 large slices served over creamy cheese grits with a sauce on the side. Delicious! I opted for the pick 2 which is a little bit hidden on the menu under Oysters. Pick 3 is also available. So nice because my hubs and I are allergic to shrimp and so many places offer preset combinations but are not flexible to accommodate for allergies. My flounder was crispy outside, delicate and flakey inside;clam strips were perfect. Hubs loved his flounder as well. He opted for the standard fries and slaw for sides, but there are many options. I chose the cheese grits which were SO good, and coleslaw which was also crunchy, flavorful but not too wet, chopped in the southern style. We were full but decided to share the house made banana pudding for dessert. It's beautifully presented and again, a generous serving we were not able to finish. Other options available today were a cherry yum yum or chocolate cake, both of which sounded amazing. Other desserts sometimes available until gone, but pretty popular. The banana pudding is a standard it seems. Prices were very reasonable, service amazing, food delicious. Will definitely be back! read more
