My friend and I recently had dinner at Wild Thyme, and everything was amazing...the food, the service, all of it. It was our first time there, and we will definitely be back. We didn't have a reservation, but Dindu at the host stand was so kind and was able to seat us right away, which we really appreciated. I also have to give Dindu a special shoutout. I accidentally left something behind and didn't realize it until I was already back home in Florida. Dindu was kind enough to mail it back to me, and her follow-through and care with my item truly went above and beyond. I can't say enough good things about the service at Wild Thyme. Awesome!!! Our waiter was super friendly and attentive! Offered suggestions and never left a glass empty. We sat outside on the large patio. The burger was the star here for me! It feels rare these days to find a burger that's not a paper, thin smash patty. This burger was thick and juicy! Reminded me of an old-school backyard burger. Just add spicy bacon! So very disappointed that the female hostess looked down upon our beautiful special needs granddaughter ( a perfectly well behaved and beautiful child) in her wheel chair and sneered. Located right in the center of town this restaurant has become a Highlands institution. We stopped in for lunch on a busy Sunday and had to wait 10 minutes or so. Love that they have a dog friendly patio and bring water for your pup. We enjoyed the fish & chips, the goat cheese salad with chicken and my son got the kid's grilled cheese. All the food was delicious and service was knowledgeable and speedy. We also really appreciated their extensive wine and spirit selection... we both enjoyed well made martinis. This is a lovely restaurant on Highland's Main Street, tucked into a corner near Kilwen's. There is outdoor seating which you really should request if the weather is nice. The interior of the restaurant is contemporary and country-club casual. White tablecloths, flowers, and a candle grace your table. The menu is varied, with dishes ranging from chops to pasta to fish. I selected the halibut special, with a lemon beurre blanc sauce and capers. So delicious! The warm bread was a lovely accompaniment and the French martini was tasty and strong. Desserts were as delicious as the entrees . We selected the chocolate pate and the bread pudding. Perfect ending to a delightful meal. I took notes And will probably try to make this at home it was so good. The hostess insisted on seating us in the corner of the bar, even though the bar was empty, and her tone felt curt -- we even noticed her being dismissive toward the bartender. We drove 2 hours to eat here! The lump crabcakes are hand formed and no fillers. They were perfect over arugula, and the sauce was just right. Fish and chips are always an easy choice, but they aren't overcooked, dry, or oil filled. The local Wagu beef burger was ahhhhmazing. The side dish was the star of the show. I like Wild Thyme in Highlands N.C because it is in the center of town with a great open air area with lots of umbrellas and is dog friendly in certain areas. Most of the restaurants in Highlands serve similar food and for some reason they all serve asparagus but wild Thyme has a bit more selection. The menu is more varied but the setting is the best. Throughout Highlands most all of the restaurants are on the expensive side with good but not exceptional food. I would put Wild Thyme as one of the more enjoyable experiences with well trained wait staff and nice dining choices. read more
