I attended several classes at Homegrown Power Yoga during a recent business trip…read more The studio space is large, open and full of natural light thanks to all of the windows in the front of the space. The space also has a bit of a giant "living room" or "home studio" vibe because of the sitting area which was staged in front of the studio's largest windows. Allison (the owner) mentioned she was aiming for this "home-like" vibe during one of her classes, and I think she completely nailed it. Sometimes when I attend a studio out of town, I feel like an outsider. But I felt like a member of the tribe right away at Homegrown which was wonderful. I also was happy to see men and women of all different colors, shapes, and practice levels in the studio. It truly felt like a judgement free zone. As far as the classes I attended, to me they were reminiscent of Baptiste style classes. This was a bit of a challenge for me because I ordinarily practice vinyasa or Ashtanga. But as I practiced, I noticed that I had a little extra time to explore some postures further and to modify which isn't always the case in vinyasa. I think the classes I attended at Homegrown would suit just about every level. If you are looking for a great place to begin or further your practice, Homegrown is that place. Yurie was very kind, introducing herself and explaining the class to us before staring. She offered modifications throughout the class and as a first timer we followed well + felt comfortable. We received a follow up after about signing up for classes regularly but I explained we couldn't due to our schedules/distance and this was kindly responded to/respected which we appreciated too! Would definitely do another pop in/if my distance to the studio changes I'd definitely go regularly. The studio was clean and parking was easy too.

Little did I know how strong it would make me physically and mentally and I stayed consistent and grew my practice to a level I didn't think I was capable of. The teachers here are so observant and pay attention to each practitioner. I never once felt pressured to catch up with the class but was taught to own each practice as my own. Johnathan has to be one of the best teachers I've been fortunate enough to learn from. Jayme, Michelle, Gretchen all have such unique and amazing teaching styles and make yoga feel like your own personal practice- and not a commercial exercise class. That is incredibly important to me. I can't recommend this studio enough. I wish I lived closer to take advantage more often!

The combination of the heat and the targeted spine strengthening series has made a huge difference in alleviating pain and building back strength. I've attended three bikram studios in the DMV area and Reston Yoga is my favorite. The instructors mentioned in previous negative reviews do not teach here anymore. The studio is cheery and clean and the staff, instructors, and students are very friendly. Particular shoutout to Yun and Julie for their calm but motivating teaching style and for being so welcoming when I brought my partner to try a class! Tip for first class - attend an Original class (and hydrate a lot!) Request - Please add more weekday morning options (60 min or a 6-7:30). I loved the 7am pop-up class last Friday! The evening classes can be challenging to fit with work schedules. I appreciate the mix of original and limited instruction classes; please continue to offer both!

Not recommended. EDIT: Responding to the owner below, Groupon was purchased over 2 months ago and I waited for reformer classes schedule for over a month and not one available. I think this was reasonable wait period. As for the relocation out of this area (something out of my hand), I was offered 1 reformer private session (in place of 5 group sessions) as substitute, but wasn't made aware of $45 additional fees on top of groupon I had already purchased (I should have asked). Overall, not a pleasant experience.

The instructor was just super nice overall and did a great job motivating quotes and also demonstrating the moves. They definitely take pride in their studio by keeping it clean. After each class, they go in and clean/sweep the studio. They sell alo mats, but everyone can bring their own mats or rent one. A drop-in class is $10, which isn't too bad. I didn't get a chance to find out about the memberships as I booked through ClassPass. There is plenty of parking directly in front and also shared by surrounding businesses. Would I return? absolutely!
