New Trail is a small cycling studio in Lake Anne Plaza that has a close family feel to its…read moreoperations. The folks here are very helpful and informative, and there are thoughtful little things that make the studio stand out. They have cycling shoes in all sizes that you can borrow for free every time, which you never see at other cycling studios! They also have cold scented towels available after class to wipe off all that sweat and cool you down. Although I've only taken a few of their regular cycling classes, they also have cycling classes that incorporate strength and barre-type exercises, and classes dedicated to 55+ folks as well. I also really like that the bikes have an RPM/calorie tracker and that you get a performance report of your metrics after class. As for the class itself, if you're expecting something similar to Soul Cycle or Zengo, this is not it. New Trail does pedal to the beat of the music, but the focus seems to be more on strength, pushing up hills, and reaching certain milestones as opposed to crazy speed, push-ups on the handles, and "choreography." So if you're looking for a no-frills kind of cycling class, or just don't want to be in a super rowdy or "spiritual" atmosphere, New Trail is an excellent option.

We've also visited the water park several times, and our kids always have a great time. It's clean, well-maintained, and offers enough variety to keep them entertained for a few hours. Overall, I'd consider Cub Run one of the better rec centers in Fairfax County. The facilities are nice, the pricing is reasonable, and it's a great place for families.

Seems like he had the entire gamut -- blow up couch, blow up bed, portable grill, speakers for music, bug repellent, food, and libations ;-) You will hear everything that is nature at night. I swear I heard a fox howling/barking. All-in-all, it was a cool experience...five days later, still itching from those bites. Oh! I also remember having a great time on the lake paddle boating and swimming in the big "L" shaped pool. Fast forward decades later, I have taken a liking to camping. I still consider myself a novice, and over the last 3yrs, I have accumulated some cool stuff. I have an annual camping trip with a large group next month, but I wanted to do a small intimate trip to one of my favorite childhood places. I must say, Lake Fairfax has one big change from when I was a child. It now has a HUGE waterpark that has giganic water slides as soon as you enter. I was a little disappointed to hear from the check-in Park attendant, who had the personality of a disinterested teenager, that the L shaped pool I referenced was no longer there. My picture of laying poolside or chillin in the pool were shattered, because with waterparks, comes tons and tons of young kids.. and honestly, I would just rather not..LOL! Once we made it to our assigned camping lot, I was super pleased at how close we were to the extremely clean rest rooms that were equipped with showers. The camping site was noticeably quiet, almost library quiet, so that suprised me a little. I didn't want to disrupt the flow, so I kept my speaker at a low level. :) All in all, I had a memorable experience at Lake Fairfax Park and I can definitely see myself coming back sometime next Spring/Summer!!

Just bought a paddleboard and was searching for places closest to my house. I knew about this one,…read morebut didn't initially know that I had to have a season pass to the nova Parks and this marina was more expensive on top of the regular annual pass. It cost around $150. And you can't get in to this marina without a key. The marina is great for kayak, canoe, paddleboard, not big boats. It's buggy there. No walking trails that I saw. Of the two times I've launched my paddleboard, one time was nice, the other time the current was fast enough that it kept spinning my paddleboard around, so I couldn't get anywhere. But I think it's probably usually calmer than that. There are no concessions or bathrooms. And that's the reason I won't get a pass next year.

There are some vestigial "storefronts" inside of the gym. Perhaps it was a small facsimile "old town" or showroom before. Either way, the climbing was... decent. They use a grade range that usually erred on the low end of the range. For instance a V4-V6 was most likely a v4. The setting was not very creative. There was perhaps a few that were tricky. For instance there was a dual text white v4 (in pictures). The staff seemed sad... not at all interested in engaging with customers. In fact, there were no customers. We went on a weekend and it was practically empty except brand new people trying out climbing for the first time. And one crusher. There's always that one crusher. I really wished there was a sense of community. The gym seemed void of the typical vibe you get at a climbing gym. There was a lot of empty, unused spaces that could be filled in with climbing walls. Even though I went with a group, the gym seemed empty and lonely.

Excellent place to boulder!…read more We're from CO and while visiting family in VA, they decided they were game to try bouldering. My husband & I do this fairly regularly in CO, but this was the first time for my SIL & two of my nieces. The facility was bright, open and CLEAN!, the routes were fantastic (great job route-setters!), and the staff was really friendly! We were really impressed with how we were greeted upon entry and given a tour of the space. And to add to that, did I mention how much we loved the routes?? They were super fun to climb- the V0's & 1's were legitimately 0s & 1s and the rating system made sense as we climbed higher V-routes. It seems like this would make sense across any gym, but as we'd been on vacation for three weeks & stopped in at a number of climbing gyms on the east coast, this is NOT always the case- so we were SUPER happy to see that the ratings & the progressions were solid. Needless to say, I think we've gotten a few more family members hooked on bouldering. I'm SO happy that they got to experience their first time at your gym- a great environment makes all the difference!

They are nice, well maintained, and soo pleasant. I especially loved the setup of this Glade Pool. It has a decent sized free swim area, swimming lanes, a water slide, diving board, and even a hot tub (that was reallyyy awesome). Along with the pool there are some tennis courts, a park, and walking paths that are all considered a part of Glade. It's setup, man. I believe it is $10 for a visitors pass, or you can get a season pass and if you'd come a decent amount and are in the area the season pass is the way to go.
