Peñon Amador is a pretty nice, pretty remote beach in the Camuy area of Puerto Rico…read more There's lots of cool vegetation in the hills of the beach, and rocky formations that look really sweet when the waves crash against them. One thing you'll notice at Peñon Amador is the little island a ways out into the water that has a cross on it. I've heard people say it's a memorial to a maid that drown, or that it's to all the people who have drown there. Whichever it is, it's definitely a warning that the surf can get really powerful and to enter the water cautiously and carefully. We noticed it was super choppy too so just viewed it from the beach without going in too deep! The beach is very clean and not super busy, in comparison to the beaches in the larger areas of Puerto Rico. But it is a little bit of a drive from the central areas of San Juan, etc. You may notice I have mentioned the remoteness a few times. And that's because we accidentally locked our keys in our car at this beach (totally our fault), and it took the roadside assistance service that we called about an hour to get to us - as it was getting dark! Luckily they came just in time and we were able to get into our car, but if you aren't staying nearby, just be sure to have enough gas to get back to where you came from (and don't lock your keys in your car! LOL) Aside from the remote nature of Peñon Amador, and the choppy water situation, it was a really nice beach area that's clean, quiet, and beautiful.

I literally could just watch them for hours because it was so peaceful. ~ Plenty of parking at this beach (paved parking lot & a small sandy parking area located right off the road) ~ 4 rinse-off stations located outside for beach goers to use to help w/ off sand ~clean beach ~This beach has a giant bench to strike a pose with. ~Plenty of sandy beach so not easily crowded FYI(s): ~ Watch out for sea urchins! During our visit we saw sea urchins black in color near the boat ramp. Be careful not to step on them w/ your bare feet because it does hurt (thankfully NOT speaking from personal experience ) - see video of the sea urchins posted in this review Even though we stopped by this beach when it was a cloudy day & there were only a handful of people at the beach during our visit, I really don't see this beach being a super busy beach. This time, I stayed in Isabela with a couple of friends and we decided to drive over to Rincon for the afternoon for some sun and paddle boarding. The beach itself was quieter than I had expected, but that's definitely a good thing. The beach itself was super clean and the area felt safe. Beautiful spot. Paddle boards are available for $15 an hour. You can get a life jacket too, but they're not required (damn, I would have felt much better if I had gotten one though lol paddle boarding isn't easy when the waters get rough). No lifeguards here, so be sure to take safety precautions before you dive in!

The waves are definitely aggressive and I wouldn't risk going further out than about 30 feet because the sand quickly changes to bedrock and you would risk getting extremely injured if swept under by a wave.

As of August 2025, this hike is OVERGROWN and not clearly marked, imho. The info board says that it takes 30-min but it took us 45-min one-way. - You need to have closed toe shoes and sufficient water. I think one thing is about managing your expectations which may not be fully shown disclosed in certain tik tok videos: - The view is descent, but the waves are aggressive. - The beach is not crowded since it is a bit off the beaten path - BUT does it really worth packing two types of shoes (sportswear and beachwear), 90-min hiking in the jungle, and risks of washing away by aggressive waves. Overall, I'd NOT recommend this beach to my friends unless he/she is adventurous and physically fit.

We took their advice after asking about nearby snorkeling locations and were blown away. The flat rocks and reef right off the coast attract all sort of different sea life and as result, this quickly became over favorite snorkeling spot we found on our trip. It really feels as clear as it can get. The feeling of watching hundreds of beautiful and blue fish glide beneath you while you're effortlessly floating along the warm saltwater is like no other. This beach is extremely chill and low key. Parking is super simple as people just park where they can along the side of the very long dirt road that leads down to the beach. You're basically behind the backyards of a long row of houses that line the beach so everyone is mindful of the neighbors. As with many of the beaches in Puerto Pico, the jetty corners of the beach curiously invite you to take a peak around them. One fella set up an entire hammock within a large tree and even started a small campfire. No one seemed to mind, again it was all very chill. The beach gets its name from this set particular of steps (stairs?) that jet out from the water. It must have been from a previous dock or structure that was originally there and it makes for a really and unique cool setting. There is also a swing set that is a popular photo spot on social media but I could not manage to get up up on it (seems like it's easier to do during low-tide). We did however to capture some pretty fun photos of different angles all around the beach. So if you find yourself on the west side of the island and want to experience some phenomenal snorkeling, you've got to find this spot!

This is public beach in Añasco, Puerto Rico that is very close to the well known city of Rincón…read more This beach, though public, has a government owned campground where anybody can rent a cabin. Even though it's public, it's often very calm and empty; probably because it's surrounded by a campground and people often think they have to be renting a cabin on the campgrounds in order to visit it, but this is not the case. This beach is very clean, has plenty of trashcans, and is located on the West coast of Puerto Rico, being a great place to watch the sunset. Has playgrounds nearby and plenty of parking if you go into the campgrounds (entering is free, staying on the cabins, you have to contact "Centro Vacacional de Añasco".

The parking does suck, but it's worth it. The roads to get to the beach are narrow so be careful. We left after sun down so that was a bit rough because there are not alot of street lights. Tabletop Beach is located between Surfer Beach and Survival Beach…read more On 04/25/2023 while hiking to Survival Beach we came across Tabletop Beach, which has a cool rock formation in the water that actually looks like a "tabletop" (see pics/video included in this review). IMO, this isn't a good beach for swimming since the waves are rough but this is a PERFECT beach for hiking, walking along the shore, while enjoying the waves crashing against the huge rocks, & just enjoying the beautiful scenery around you. Tabletop Beach really is a pretty beach and also very clean -please make sure to take your trash w/ you! There are also huge rock formations in the water and along the shore that just added to the beauty of this beach. I also loved how secluded this beach is. We only saw a few other people while we hiked to this beach but there were plenty of surfers in the water & it was very cool getting to watch them do their thing!
