Hackleboro Orchards - Who doesn't love apple picking!?

Nice people. We showed up right before the skies opened up and it began to pour. The people were…read moreattentive as they could tell we didn't know anything and weren't from the area so they gave us the run down and let us go out and get soaked. Was really hoping to get some apple cider but then we're making it, so we picked some apples, bought a pumpkin, apples, and syrup, and headed out to dry off. Would have liked to try this dry, and with more stuff in their selling barn area but - can't win them all.

Hackleboro Orchards is THE place to go in northern NH for pick-your-own apples and all sorts of…read morefresh produce. Easy accessibility from exit 18 off of 93 and ample free parking makes getting here and getting your wares out simple and part of the fun. The drive up to Canterbury and through the town is absolutely gorgeous, and traffic levels stay relatively low. Hackleboro boasts acres of apple trees of many different varieties -- McIntosh, Cortland, Red and Gold Delicious, Puritan, Empire, and Northern Spy (call for availability). Long-handled pickers are provided, and the management requests that patrons refrain from climbing trees. They also have pick-your-own blueberries, peaches, strawberries, and other fruit (when in season), as well as a farm stand with freshly-made apple pies, apple cobblers, home-made cider, honey, maple syrup and candies, flowers, cookbooks, pumpkins, and lots more. Everything looks and tastes wonderful, and I make a special trip up whenever I can during the fall because of the sheer quality as well as my belief that it's important to support local farmers and family-run businesses. I know the family that runs the orchard, and they give the utmost care to the trees and animals under their watch. Speaking of the animals, there's a goat pen and some rabbits, as well as a horse, some chickens, and a number of farm cats and dogs. The farm is extremely family-friendly and bringing children and (leashed!) pets is encouraged. There are even free tractor rides on weekends! There is also an observation deck at the front of the orchard -- it boasts vistas of the mountains superior to anything else I've seen in the area. Treat yourself to a trip to Hackleboro Orchards. (There's a farm stand in Boscawen, too, and the farm attends various fairs each year, including the largely popular Deerfield Fair.) You will not be disappointed -- the quality of the products, the care of the people in charge, and the overall air and feel of the place is unparalleled. Hackleboro isn't just a business -- it's a family, and when you visit, you're a part of it too.

Hackleboro Orchards - HORRIBLE !!!! Apples are pitted and gross. They make you prepay and won't refund your money once you find out how bad they Are.

Fun, FUN, FUUUN BLUEBERRY PICKIN'!! We were looking for…read moresome activities that didn't require Blue Light Glasses (PTSD from Zoom'n 24/7 lol) for the family while we journeyed through the New England States. Turns out BLUEBERRIES are a big deal here! Also found out there are a lot of options all over the New England states to PICK YOUR OWN BLUEBERRIES! Alright, let's get yelpin'! We looked for blueberry farms on our route from Boston to Maine, but struggled to get ones to answer their phone or were closed for the season (late July 2021). Sadly, not many options on Yelp either. To our good fortune, though, Keenan Family Farms answered the call and fit our time schedule for travel! Yay! Here we come Keenan Family Farm! So off to New Hampshire we went! We used Google Maps to find them, and it worked out just fine. Small sign on the roadside "Pick Your Own Blueberries" pointing us in the correct direction. Also note a small blue farm stand sitting in the front driveway. Grass lot off the road for parking was easy to get in. Followed the blueberry signs to the back and found Ms. Candice in the back lounging, appearing to be waiting for our arrival. Pleasant lass to chat with, down to earth, seemed to enjoy sharing this experience with the world! No strict rules to contend with. Pints or buckets are the options for holding containers. 100% organic grown here, so you can eat straight from the bushes even! This was our first family outing picking anything and it was a fun time! We spent over an hour wandering and leisurely picking to our hearts' content. Solid family bonding time! Once we were done, we gathered back at Ms. Candice's table, happily paid for our loot, graciously thanked her, and off we went, chowing down on blueberries for the rest of the drive. We were able to refrigerate our blueberries every day and they lasted a week before completely finishing them. So pretty nice not having to stuff our faces all at once! VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! Yummy blueberries to nom nom on, solid OUTDOOR family bonding time, pleasant owners to interact with... what's not to love about any of that!?! Enjoy!
