I rarely leave negative reviews, but after giving Sushi2Go two chances in the same week, I feel compelled to share my experience. I've eaten here several times in the past and always found the sushi to be enjoyable, which is why this recent decline has been so surprising and disappointing. I'm not sure if the restaurant is under new management or if something has changed behind the scenes, but the quality and presentation have fallen dramatically. My first visit this week was so underwhelming that I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Everyone can have an off day, and I assumed perhaps that was the case. Unfortunately, when I returned today, the sushi was just as disappointing--if not worse. The rolls looked carelessly assembled, as though fish and imitation crab had simply been tossed on top without any attention to detail or pride in the finished product. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case, I have two pictures that tell the story better than I ever could. The sushi looked unappetizing, sloppy, and nothing like what I had come to expect from this restaurant. What makes this especially frustrating is that I know Sushi2Go is capable of doing better because I've experienced better from them in the past. Sadly, after two consecutive disappointing visits, I've lost confidence in the consistency and quality of the food. I genuinely hate writing reviews like this, but customers deserve to know what they're paying for. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

    Salmon avocado roll $6.75
    Zarin B.

Grabbed a salmon avocado roll on my way home just to try this place out and boyyyy was it delicious. 6 big pieces and only 6.75 before taxes. And it was ready super quick. I also love that they give their soy sauce in a container rather than the small packets other places give. Inside the store is small and definitely more of a take out kind of place. Chef was the one who handed me my order, seemed nice! Will definitely come back to try the lunch special. Don't sleep on this place!!!

Great sushi at a great price. I ordered online and the service was fast. This is definitely a to-go restaurant like the name states. They do have a few tables but I imagine they're more for sitting and waiting to pick up your order. The staff were friendly and handed me my order immediately. I recommend this restaurant for decent sushi at a decent price.

$35ish for eel, salmon, tuna, white tuna, and a special roll. Plenty of food for two people.

You can tell that I'm a big fan of Sushi 2 Go--it may be my most-reviewed spot in the DMV! I'd say that it's still the best bang for your buck in terms of sushi in the Ballston area, and very competitive in North Arlington overall. Don't sleep on the lunch special! Great value and great taste. What amazes me is that the quality has remained good after all these years. I think it's because the owner is often at the register, making sure that her customers are taken care of. This is really a small, locally owned business, not just another soulless mediocre chain. Thanks, Sushi 2 Go, for many happy weekday lunch memories.

    spicy crab and spicy salmon

it used to be good. last couple times the ingredients were just thrown on top of the rolls haphazardly.. kinda gross

Wouldn't recommend. The sushi was below average at best. I got a deal on an ordering app and got 2 rolls for $12 instead of $20 normally priced. These rolls are tiny and not worth $10 a piece. I ordered a spicy roll and Philadelphia roll. I didn't even finish the Phili roll. Overall, for the price go elsewhere for sushi.

I went in the evening on a cold windy night. The restaurant was not weatherproof so it's also cold inside near the window (and they only have window seatings unfortunately). I spent about $25 for a roll, dumplings and salad. Food tasted just edible. Roll seaweed was very humid and chewy, while it should be crispy. Dumpling filling was hard. I had a mild food poisoning wanting to throw up for all night. Maybe something was not fresh or clean. Overall, I regretted eating here.

    Salmon Combo
    Ailun H.

My friend and I got the salmon combo ($20) & yellowtail combo ($23) for dinner. Each combo came with a roll (6 pieces), 3 pieces of nigiri, and 3 pieces of sashimi. Overall, the food was tasty! The quality of the fish was above average and relatively fatty. The rice had a good amount of vinegar in it that was perfect. Our only quip is that we weren't full from the food given how expensive it was. The sushi was good, but I'm not willing to pay $25-30 to feel satisfied. However, from what I've seen, they seem to have some lunch combos at a more affordable price. I will definitely get one of the combos sometime soon!

Miso Soup, Spicy Tuna Roll with Cucumber, plain Salmon Roll
    Reagan H.

Popped over to Sushi2Go for their lunch special: two rolls and miso soup for $12! What a steal! I ordered for pickup online, the sushi rolls were ready when I got there and they served me some fresh miso. Everything was delicious, and the people who work there are so nice! The plain salmon roll continues to be my go-to, it's so simple but so good. Sushi2Go is a super small spot right next to the Ballston metro, but don't let that fool you. The sushi is great and the prices are super

Food and service were great; small space with decent ambiance and perfect for to-go orders.

I think this is a great place for rolls - especially for lunch. I would stick with the spicy tuna or similar basic rolls. The take out process is seamless and very quick. A good local spot for quick sushi!

Street parking. Keep in mind it's right next to a metro and bus stops so parking is limited as is.

I think, after being twice, that the AYCE is not as worth it for me personally because I'm not a big eater, but it's totally worth it if you want a lot of variety and you have a good appetite. I really liked the rolls in particular. The service was excellent- it was a nice balance of coming over once in a while to ask how we were doing without coming over too much. The vibes are awesome with a really nice interior- definitely a nice place to go for a date,!just to go with friends to have a nice meal, or even to grab a meal alone since the center has a large area for single seating. Also, there is a time limit to the AYCE (I think it was 90 min). This'll definitely be a place I go to regularly in the future!

My husband and I dined in for the first time today, and we were both very impressed with the atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Hayden was our server, and he showed exemplary hospitality skills. He made us feel welcome, checked in on us frequently without feeling overbearing, and made sure we knew the AYCE menu is double-sided. Speaking of, the AYCE is such a great deal! I used to live in Vegas, where AYCE sushi is very common. Unfortunately, for most of them, since the focus is on quantity, the quality suffers. This is not the case for Toryumon! Maybe it's because it isn't strictly an AYCE place. You can absolutely order items a-la-carte from their regular menu (as I had done previously for take-out). The items are exactly the same whether you order from the regular menu or the AYCE. Same quality, and, this is important, same size! Yes, you will receive a FULL-SIZED bowl of ramen if you order it from the AYCE menu. Not all of the menu items have descriptions, and I was surprised by some of them (not in a bad way, just wasn't what I was expecting), such as: The avocado salad. I was expecting it to be cubes/chunks of avocado tossed with a dressing. What came out was a lettuce salad with sliced avocado on top. The dressing was good, slightly sweet. It was a good salad, just not at all what I was expecting. The sweet potato sushi roll is served warm, the sweet potato is deep fried, and there is eel sauce on top. The sweet potato rolls I had other places were not fried, and served cold. I really enjoyed this one! Everything seemed very fresh, not a hint of wilting greens or brown avocado to be seen! I am so grateful to live right down the road from this amazing establishment. If you enjoy ramen, sushi, and other Japanese items, def give them a try! There are bathrooms available for guests. What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to recommend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up recommendation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may recommend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of recommendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return.

Service. Absolutely inappropriate and inadequate…read more I walked in at 8:30pm on March 5th, 2026. There were two young female staff apparently taking care of something on the phone. Instead of actually greeting me, and asking me to give them a moment, she looks up at me (not even the staff member on the phone) and raises her finger at me??? The audacity of that was plenty of fuel for the one star. As if that weren't enough, when the associate that was on the phone was done, her colleague looks at me and asked what I "needed"...I chose to tell her I was there to dine, again, standing there alone, and her response was, "I'm not supposed to automatically know that." Representing the restaurant in this manner let me know she didn't desire my business, or presence. I promptly let her know that I'd pass on dining there, and left your establishment. I don't care HOW good your food may be, your staff's customer service and attitude ruined the chance I was taking to try a new local establishment. I'll be sure to share my experience with whoever asks, but I encourage the enhancement of customer service training to prevent losing more diners like myself.

I was hungry so ordered the spring rolls appetizer AND one of the lunch specials (choose 2 sushi rolls + salad/soup) Spring Rolls - 6/10 They are actually fried and hot to the touch so be careful! I cut mine before eating. At $6, they are pretty decent value. Lunch Special Salad - 8/10 I loved the carrot miso vinagraitte on the iceberg lettuce. The only thing that would have made it better would be a nice crunch (toasted sesame seeds/wonton crisps) Shrimp Tempura Roll - 7.5/10 This is an elevated tempura roll with orange roe and eel sauce. Very filling as far as sushi rolls go. Salmon/Mango/Avocado Roll - 5/10 The rice layer on this roll was paper thin and the salmon tasted flat and flavorless, instead of that rich, buttery taste that high quality fresh salmon should have. On this visit, I noticed that the fillings are generous here but the rice is sparse/underseasoned on vinegar. I'd love to better appreciate the fine balance of the ingredients. Overall though, I enjoyed my meal. It is a strong spot and one that I would return to.

They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying.
