It's the usual case that Chinese or Koreans run a lot or these spots. We came close to closing time but they were very welcoming. We ended up having two bottles of Hakkaisan sake. The sushi was pretty good. We ordered a la carte and I was very happy they did the Amebi (sweet shrimp)- they gave us the ebi no atama (fried shrimp head). That's definitely a very traditional take on making nigiri the right way, so I was delighted to see this. The hamachi Kama was well received and we were pretty full by the time we left. Had the lunch chirashi on my first visit at this sushi restaurant. I got inside at a little after 11 am, right after opening, and was seated quickly. So, the cuts of sashimi are quite large, compared to other sushi places, but the number of cuts is less than my fav chirashi spots. The presentation was nice and I enjoyed the garnishments that came with the chirashi. My biggest gripe would be that I was charged for hot green tea, especially when it was not that great tasting bc of water dilution. The soup and salad before the chirashi was standard. Surprisingly there aren't many sit down restaurants within short walking distance at an affordable city price for team work lunches by Rosslyn metro. Luckily Yuraku moved in years back as an option. I've been here a few times and had good experiences. This time was no different. I think because it is a little off the beaten path - by like one street - the office workers don't tend to swarm here for lunch. So although Yuraku doesn't have an online reservation system, I never worry about there not being enough seating for team work lunches. Great place to eat for lunch in Rosslyn if you're looking for something a little more upscale. The bento boxes are the perfect option for a quick and filling lunch. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating, as well as outdoor seating. I went on a weekday around 11:30 and the place was pretty empty. Service could have been a bit more attentive considering I was one of 5 customers. I ordered the ton katsu bento box. Each bento comes with an entree, miso soup, salad, two California rolls, a tempura shrimp, a few tempura vegetables, and a shumai dumpling. The ton katsu is crispy and you get a lot of it. The sides are all good, and my personal favorite were the tempura vegetables. The sauces didn't really align with my palette much, sort of just adding a goopy texture to the ton katsu. Came to eat on a Wednesday night on a whim. The restaurant is in Rosslyn, which is mainly populated during business hours. It can be a ghost town at night for sure. When we came to the restaurant there was only one other table seated. As our meal progressed more and more patrons were seated. We were immediately greeted by the friendly gentlemen at the sushi counter and seated right away. The restaurant is huge an airy, with ample seating. The menu is big, they have a large selection of entree dishes and sushi. I ordered the What a Match and my partner ordered a Firecracker specialty rolls. We also ordered a pineapple shrimp fried rice and a Katsu Kare. We received miso soup and a small salad with our entree, both tasty. THE ROLLS were huge! we only ordered an entree because we thought we were getting tiny rolls like you can find at many places here in the DMV. Both rolls were so good! We only had a little bite of each of the entrees due to being full from the rolls. The next day both were still excellent. We can't wait to come back and to try more of their food. I want to come during lunch to be able to order their bento box! Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the start, our waitress was inattentive and seemed unhappy to be serving us. This kind of treatment seems to happen more often with parties larger than five, likely because the restaurant adds an automatic 20% gratuity, removing any motivation for staff to offer quality service. Throughout our meal, the server never once checked in to see if we needed anything. When we finished eating, she brought the check without even asking if we were interested in dessert. Just a few minutes after 9:00 PM, she told us the restaurant was already closed and began clearing the table by loudly clanking plates and glasses onto her cart, creating an uncomfortable and rushed atmosphere. When we pointed out that there were still other guests sitting and eating, she almost shouted, "They are still eating!" in the middle of the restaurant. Overall, 4.5/5 but will give it a 5/5 because of the good quality sushi. While the quality here is one of the best in the area (big and generous cuts of fish that isn't overwhelmed by too much rice), it's really expensive even with 20% off appetizers during happy hour. I was impressed by how big and thick each piece of fish was and it was so fresh! I'm usually not a fan of tuna at most sushi restaurants but I felt like the tuna here was good! The salmon was super fatty and amazing! The yellowtail and red snapper were good but don't remember it too much I felt like the shrimp was too thin and didn't have much flavor. At happy hour pricing, I'd definitely recommend ordering at least one of these! SEARED SALMON BELLY (4 PCS.) - 13.95 This is a bit pricy but definitely four very delicious bites. The seared salmon belly was smoky and fatty, and the touch of guacamole was super creamy and I liked the flavor combination - definitely not something I would have thought of myself so I like how unique it is. The crunchy rice mixed in was also a nice touch. If you're looking to splurge a bit, I'd recommend giving the seared salmon belly a try. After tax and tip, I paid around $32 for my meal. I was happy to hear that the Maryland stape Yuraku came down to Virginia. For background, Yuraku was a place in MD that use to have a buffet but is also known for its endless pages of rolls of all sort. The ambiance here is a bit different as you see more dine-in customers. The chirashi and udon were both solid -- nothing out of the ordinary but solid enough that it could sustain itself as a nice local sushi joint. But only concern is how it'll separate itself from its competitors given that it's in a half mile radius of many larger and hoppin' sushi places. But all in all, the ambiance is nice and the place is central enough for a walk from Georgetown or all the Arlington locals. read more

The service was OK, and sitting outside was pleasant enough. HOWEVER, my sushi wasn't any of that. I ordered their Deluxe Sushi Assortment. That was 10 rather substantial pieces of Nigiri and a spicy tuna roll. The problem was that too much wasabi was sandwiched between the fish pieces and rice. It made the pieces barely edible, and about the only thing I could taste was the wasabi. I didn't want to return my plate because I was with a large group. I tried disassembling each piece and scraping off what wasabi I could, but too much had worked its way into the rice. If I were ever to go back here, I would request that they use a lighter hand when assembling the meal. You should keep that in mind if you try this place. read more

For two, we ordered the seared salmon belly special (which is 4 pieces of lightly burnt salmon belly that just melts in your mouth!), the toro belly daily special roll (the fatty tuna belly was amazing!) and the Salmon Ninja. We were blown away by how thick the pieces of sushi were on each roll; and the fact that they have sushi both inside and on top of the rolls was a double banger! I'm actually concerned that I came here because it might become my go-to spot in the area, and it is WAY too convenient for me.
