Ate here once and was hooked. They have some great prices, a decent location (parking can be difficult sometimes), attentive service, and quality food. My family and I's first time was absolutely fabulous, with the freebie krab roll (which we've received each subsequent time) and a roll on the house (they were newly opened and this was probably a grand opening thing). Our food has never taken too long, but also hasn't been too fast either. The staff is courteous and attentive, quick to refill sodas or take away empty plates. The sushi and sashimi is has never tasted "off" and the cooked food is never over or under cooked. Portions on entrees are ample and typically we leave with "doggy" bags of leftovers enough for the next meal (which often tastes just as good as when it arrived at the restaurant). We've yet to use the pick-up service, but plan to sometime in the future to see how well good that service is. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a well priced meal. read more

The sushi was pretty good, I just got something basic, tuna roll and salmon roll. I wanted hibachi so I gave that a try, it was just ok. The noodles were somewhat bland and the rice lacked flavor. The teriyaki chicken was ok, nothing special that stood out to me. I'll be back for the sushi, but probably wouldn't get hibachi again. First time at Sushi 99! I had heard a lot of good things about it, and it's very close to my house. I ordered some onion soup and a couple rolls, my favorite one being the Fancy Q. I will definitely come here again. Sushi is my absolute favorite food, and they really did have a nice quality of fish and the rolls were creative and delicious. I do feel like they have a little room for improvement in their communication. It wasn't a huge deal, but I had ordered a quail egg on masago (fish eggs) sushi and it seemed like the waitress wasn't sure what I was talking about even though I had ordered it many times before at other sushi restaurants. I never received it, either, and it wasn't on my receipt. They never spoke to me about it, either. But aside from this lack of communication, it was still a lovely place with nice decor and great sushi. Next time I'll try the teriyaki chicken, because a friend of mine ordered that and it looked delicious as well. :) Definitely check this place out. read more

Went here for the first time last night with my mom and it was so amazing! Very nice atmosphere, great food, great employees! We sat at the sushi bar so we could have a nice view! They gave us a complimentary holiday roll off the bat, then we got miso soup after, then we ordered our sushi! We ordered the California roll, volcano roll, and the shrimp tempora roll! The presentation of our sushi plate was phenomenal as well as the taste of the sushi itself! The saki we ordered with it was delicious as well! The sushi chef was so so so nice to us! He treated us to a free fried Oreo dessert which my mom and I felt so thankful! Coolest thing about our experience is they offered a free saki bomb after 7:30!!! My mom and I tried our first saki bomb! So much fun and such an amazing experience! It was the best first experience we could ever ask for! I have been here a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. They give you a complementary bowl of soup and a crab roll and I have never had to wait for a table, but I think it's because the place is so new that no one knows about it. It is clearly the best sushi on the east side of town. I think the reason they do not sell beer and wine on weekdays at lunch is because there is a school across the street and they don't have zoning for it. I recall that they wanted to close Tijuana Flats down for the same reason. Perhaps that was the compromise in allowing them both to operate. Portions are huge. read more

I'm baffled by the ratings this place has. The sushi options were pretty sad and completely tasteless. The Lucky Dragon roll was the only thing enjoyable. The server asked us 3 times within the first 5 minutes if we were ready to order. I was so annoyed I almost left, but stayed for my husband. I should've saved us the $40 because staying wasn't worth it. The host sprawled on the front desk in boredom, but when a woman came in to pick up her Togo order, they all ignored her. It wasn't the worst sushi I've ever had, but with all the options in Orlando, cross this one off your list. Better to drive another 5-10 minutes into town and go somewhere decent. read more

Sushi99 wasn't bad at all. We were greeted by multiple employees when we walked in and we were seated very quickly. The decor was nice and the service was good. Everyone seemed very friendly. We received the free holiday roll and mushroom soup, which were both very tasty. We ordered the chefs special sushi, a tempura appetizer, a shrimp tempura roll and the chicken hibachi. The hibachi came out first and we waited a while for the appetizer and sushi. If the food came out in the right order, I think it would have been a better experience but overall, the food and service were good. read more

Ordered to-go with my boyfriend yesterday and it was really good! We shared four rolls: the lobster tempura roll, crunchy roll, Jax roll, and dynamite roll. They were all delicious, but my personal favorite is the crunchy roll. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh (none of that gross fishy taste in my spicy tuna). The rolls also stayed fresh on the drive back home. And they have online ordering, which is a plus for anyone who hates ordering over the phone as much as I do. The prices were a bit much, though. Those four rolls ran us over $30. They do have a lunch special that's much cheaper, but the selection doesn't include their specialty rolls. read more

This place is very similar to my hometown sushi spot, Fancy Sushi. I love coming here for their lunch specials and the lunch specials are really good deals. We have been trying to find a go-to sushi restaurant in the Waterford/Avalon area so we tried Sushi 99 after seeing some good reviews. I would give the food 5 stars. We had the River Roll, the Watermelon roll, the sweet mango roll, the Fancy Dragon roll, and some nigiri. The sushi was really, really good. It had some unique flavors and tasted really fresh. Every table received complimentary miso soup and what looked like a krab tempura roll as well. Our only complaint was the service. It is a small restaurant but there was enough staff to attend to each table, yet service was very slow, even for a sushi restaurant. We expected the food to take some time since it is made fresh, but we waited a good twenty - thirty minutes for our food and then waited a while again for our check to be picked up. Next time we will probably just sit at the sushi bar, which is more fun anyway because you can see how everything is made. read more

We have looked high and low for somewhere that serves hibachi and sushi that was good and would make us want to return. We tried Sushi 99 tonight and I am so glad we went. I usually order sushi wherever I go however I tried the hibachi tonight and it was excellent. The service was awesome. While we waited at the sushi bar, we were served complementary appetizers such as fried snapper and fried crab. Very good and what a nice surprise. Our bill was around $40 and that was with 4 beers between the two of us. I'm going to try the sushi next time and I hope it is as good the hibachi. Everyone should give this place a try.
