Since Sushi 99 is under new management and it has been about five years since my last review of Sushi 99, I figured that it was time to update my review and give a current perspective after tonight's experience. I have always enjoyed Sushi 99 and come here on a somewhat regular basis. But since they have changed hands, I find that Sushi 99 has if anything, become an even better restaurant. The ambiance is still similar and while not a big restaurant, Sushi 99 makes good use of its somewhat limited space. I got takeout and for my meal, I went with the sizzling jalapeño steak. I found it very good and i would definitely recommend this particular dish. Sushi 99 has been here for awhile serving both the Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park communities (as well as the general area). It is definitely worth checking out and I will say they earn a five star rating from me. read more

Food: 4/5 the highlight I want to give is to the sushi combo. The price is unbelievable for the amount of sushi I recieved. The quality of the fish was great as well. A group of us went here after Megacon this weekend and it was so delicious. When we arrived it was pretty busy, but they gave us some soup and a Holiday roll while we waited to order. The holiday roll and soup were so good! Perfect little appetizers to have before the meal. I ordered the BBQ Short rib bento box and it was delicious. It came with a lot of food and it wasn't that expensive, I had enough leftover for lunch the next day! Will definitely be back to try some other menu items. read more

June 24, 2026, decided to go have sushi. The service, atmosphere were excellent. The sushi was mediocre but was ok. Did enjoy their hospitality and their server David was very kind, friendly and professional, would not hesitate to ask for him. We had a number of dishes including sake too. It was my first time here and was very impressed with their kindness and service. The only complaint was that their sushi needs to be better made, other than that, very satisfied. That is why I gave a three star on food. As a business owner, who travels a lot and consider myself as a foodie who like to rate restaurants, etc for their quality of food and service. I came here for dinner with family and was very impressed by the sushi, the service and the price! For an appetizer, I ordered the crab rangoon and it's crazy to say but.. it was the best crab rangoon I've ever had, anywhere! The sushi rolls were quite good to. Shoutout to the chef, who clearly takes pride in his work. They even gave complimentary miso soups to the entire table! I love how they do use any msg at all and offered a ton of different sauces, all complimentary. I'll definitely come back here the next time I'm in town, 1,000%! read more

Super plates, generous portions. Started with a complimentary appetizer of a small krab roll deep fried with sauce. I think it's called Holiday. I prefer crab, but Krab probably made from whitefish was tasty. No msg, all of it was good. Then a complimentary miso soup flavored deliciously with fried onion; I loved that, clever addition. First off, the fish cakes (nigiri) were really good and the only reason why I would go back. The fish was fresh and tasty, something that is rare in Orlando. The ginger was fresh and I would only recommend this place for the nigiri. The tempura was a bit too greasy and lacked the refinement of good Japanese restaurants. Everything else was kind of OK. This restaurant is definitely a takeout place, I may sit down by myself but it's not a place to socialize. This place is really a 3 star restaurant, but I have to praise the sushi. read more

I have spent over 1000 dollars here, probably closer to 2 or 3k, we live very close and my boyfriend always pick up. The owners treat my boyfriend with disdain and today it crossed the line. We have lived here and ordered here for over 3 years. We will never, ever be back. Ownership needs to learn basic human decency, my boyfriend is the kindest person on the planet; why you would continue to be abusive to him is crazy. The server working today was amazing and so kind! It's a small cozy restaurant. I ordered the chicken teriyaki combo which came with fried rice, soup, salad, veggies, and lo mein. Overall it's a great amount of food for the price but I found it to be really bland somehow. The chicken didn't absorb any flavors and the sauce itself was bland in my opinion as well. The app we got was called Holiday and it was like a tempura crab with this delicious sweet sauce and creamy sauce. Then we got a bowl of the clear mushroom and onion soup. Both were really good but I felt bad not finishing my soup. It was only because it was 110 degrees outside. We ordered another app which was the crab rangoon and they were a lot bigger than I was expecting. Lots of cream cheese and bits of crab. Perfecly fried and nice and crispy. For rolls we got the Fancy Dragon Roll and Volcano Roll. The presentation was so fun and it came with a fun fairy light! The rolls were a good portion and everything tasted fresh. I also like how our server also brought out additional sauces for dipping other than your standard soy sauce. We got the yum yum white sauce, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. I always order through uber eats and this is my go to place if I want sushi. The quality is always great and delicious. I usually get the rainbow raw role and even with delivery it's always fresh. And they always throw in extra sauces which does mean a lot to me because most of the time restaurants leave out requested sauces with delivery. Great service and great sushi. read more

This place has remained consistent over the years and I appreciate them for that. If you're a Sushi snob then this may not be the place for you to come. They keep it simple which is how I like it! The restaurant is always clean. Kudos to them for adhering to very high standards during the pandemic. You have to wear a mask to enter and all employees are masked. You do have to ask for sauces such as soy sauce and the yum yum sauce as they no longer have them on the tables. I usually order sushi but my son loves their hibachi meals which are pretty tasty. At lunch you automatically get soup and salad with your meals. Dinner you get only soup unless you order an entree. They also give you part of a holiday roll which is a tempura fried krab and cream cheese roll served with eel sauce and yum yum sauce. It's so good! I've been here a total of two times and this place never fails to amaze me. The phoenix roll with the yum yum sauce was easily a 10/10. The dynamite roll was also really good as well as their hibachi. The inside has great vibes, definitely an amazing date spot and the staff is very nice and friendly. Smallest order. Ordered a specialty roll and a regular roll to go. It was for 2 ppl, and they seemed to squish it all in one tiny container. I feel as the specialty roll should have at least been pretty presented, at least it's own presentation. I also got a side of fried rice, the side portion container was about half full. The last time I ate there I made the mistake on ordering take out and it was a disaster. My food was horrible and my roll has some sanitary issues. I called the restaurant and explained the situation and the manager was an absolute jerk to me. To him; there was no way that the restaurant was in the wrong so he decided it to take it up a notch and asked me to drive back there and show her my rolls so he can see what I was seeing to then consider my exchange. The service was fast. They were very nice. We didn't dine in. We ordered online. The sushi was very average. The grade of the fish isn't great just based off looks and taste. My husband thought the meat portion was smaller than what he received at similar places at lunch. I thought the same but it was plenty of food altogether. Been here a few times already and it's consistently good. I'd say it's our go-to sushi place only because it's close. They always start out by bringing some type of warm krab roll and miso soup which is a great way to get started while deciding what to order. All of the rolls have been typically good and the chefs find a way to build them all onto a platter of some sort. Last trip, we did the tuna tataki a krab salad and both were pretty tasty. We also had some miscellaneous rolls and sashimi, but I don't recall for sure which ones. I will say I have tried the hibachi dinner and chicken/beef on a stick and have not been impressed.
