I come here all the time with my friend and haven't make an updated review in two years. In that time there have definitely been some menu changes. They used to have a deal on rolls which has been replaced with the AYCE, best change ever. Everything is fresh and delicious, the food comes out fairly quickly and the staff is very nice and attentive. The portions for the appetizers are not too big so you don't fill up on them and can try a few different things. I love the Rock and roll I get it every time I come in if you're a fan of shrimp tempura i definitely recommend that! It seems like a little family owned place it's very small and definitely a hole in the wall if you know you know spot. Sushi Island has opened up recently which is also good, but I like that at sushi cafe everyone at the tables doesn't have to get AYCE, also love the smaller feel, it's more like a third space feel. Ordered delivery on doordash for the first time. Tried the 2 roll combo (shrimp tempura and rock and roll) , Thai tea and side noodles. The tea was good! Sweet but not too sweet. The rolls were just decent, needed quite a bit of soy sauce. Noodles were pretty bland but decent for the price . I consider any restaurant that hasn't had a review in 6 months to basically be a blank slate. 6 months is long enough for management to fix problems that could contribute to a negative review, or for glowing reviews to slip. Sushi Cafe hasn't had a review on this site in 6 months. Yet I still see people going in and out of this restaurant all the time, usually happy. So, blank slate it is. Tonight my wife wanted sushi and we live close to Sushi Cafe and they were open so, we went. I looked at the reviews, plenty of positive reviews but the most recent review was one star and is 6 months old. So we decided to give them a shot. I've been eating sushi since the 90's and have a lot of experience with this food. First thing I look for on any sushi menu is Ikura (salmon roe). Next is the Spider Roll. These are my favorites. I asked if the chef made Ikura Temaki for us but he countered with Mosago (smelt roe) and we accepted. We also ordered a Dragon Roll (shrimp tempura cucumber, cream cheese, eel, spicy shredded krab, with avocado, eel sauce and spicy mayo) , Spider Roll (soft shell crab, cucumber avocado mosago and eel sauce) , Mango Roll (shrimp tempura, krab, cream cheese, topped with mango coconut flakes and mango sauce glaze), Jaguar roll (a tempura roll consisting of eel, avocado and cream cheese topped with eel sauce), and a Tomago Nigiri (sweetened scrambled egg omelette style sliced over rice), and tuna roll (tuna nori which is just rice, tuna, and nori wrap). They also served us miso soup and a sweet cake for dessert. The first served was the Miso Soup which was wonderful with fresh white mushroom slices and green onions. It was tasty and warm. First roll served was the Mosago hand roll with rice. Very simple and very nice. The focus was on the roe which is a good start for a salty pallet introduction and an excellent entry point to our meal. Next was the Green Dragon. This is the most expensive roll they have but well worth it (see pics). The portion is generous, the pieces are large without being oversized and the flavors are delicious. Next was the Spider Roll which was delicious and savory with the soft shell crab being the star of the show, which was served with the tuna nori (a wonderful roll focusing solely on the red meat of the tuna which was succulent and juicy in the best ways), and the Tomago (sweetened scrambled egg omelette slice which made me wish I'd doubled my order and was the sleeper hit of the evening). Simultaneously we were served the Mango, the Jaguar, and the other Tomago. The Mango was sweet, reminiscent of coconut shrimp, and the sweetness of the mango paired well with the saltiness of the shrimp and earthiness of the rice. The Jaguar was crispy and savory and the eel sauce was an excellent compliment. And my wife says her Tomago was delicious, sweet, and tasty as well. Lastly we had sweet cakes with strawberry frosting for dessert. The staff was really just two people: the chef who seemed to prefer his artistry be observed on the plate as he hid himself under a black baseball cap which allowed him to focus on his creations. He clearly takes pride in his work because though it seems he almost never looks up, he has astute observation of the entire restaurant and yet still crafts such beauty. And the server, a girl whose charm and enthusiasm add to the atmosphere nicely. She paid attention to all three tables, each booth holding one couple, a young couple on a date (they are anime fans and were an adorable interracial couple), an older married couple (he was bald and his shorts and polo say he enjoys German cars while his wife enjoys her home) and us (40's, round, quiet, interracial couple). We went into this small restaurant to enjoy a good meal and were treated to a wonderful meal accompanied by a visual display of humanity and people watching. We will return. First time visiting from out of town! Food was very fresh and tasty, I am picky when it comes to raw smoked salmon, I give everyone a try.. they have the freshest tasting smoked salmon I've tried. The service was fast and very pleasant, our server was great and made sure to help me with my food allergies to the best of her ability and even gave us a souvenir for our first time! We found Sushi Cafe about two years ago. It was a rough night and finding a place with a quiet atmosphere was great. The owner was kind and quick to say hello. This place has a calm and relaxed vibe to it. Perfect for a break from any hustle in bustle in daily life. Whether it's your first time or not, feel free to walk in and sit down wherever you'd like. You'll quickly find someone coming to bring you menus and asking what you'd like to drink. There are printed menus that you can use to mark down what you'd like to order with a provided pen. We always order shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura. However, on our first time here we asked if it was possible to do only sweet potato. The owner was happy to do so. If you have a preferred veggie from what they offer, don't be shy about asking for only that. Mom and grandma shared a chicken hibachi which brings white rice and a miso soup. They said the sauce was delicious and the portion was great. I ordered a pick two rolls and did the Tiger roll and Chicken Tempura roll. A friend recommended this place for cheap sushi, so we decided to give it a try and placed a pick-up order. We got 9 rolls and a spicy salmon seaweed salad. Three rolls were only $12.99, which is very inexpensive for sushi. I didn't have high expectations given the low prices, but some of the rolls were among the worst I've had, while a few were just alright. The fish was of low quality and did not taste good. The sushi rice was decent but not the best. The spicy salmon seaweed salad was not good; the salmon seemed like scraps. If you decide to go, I suggest trying their cooked rolls, like shrimp tempura. Husband and I decided to eat here for Valentines Day from their new AYCE menu. And under new ownership. SUSHI: All the sushi was FRESH and DELICIOUS! I ordered the Mango roll (shrimp tempura, crab, cc with fresh slices of sweet mango on top ) so good and my new favorite. Perfect. The Sunset roll with large slices of fresh tuna on top was probably the best tuna I've ever had. Also had the Rock and Roll, Philadelphia roll , salmon and tamago sashimi and salmon avocado toll. The rolls were huge so keep this in mind as I couldn't finish all and hubby who also had AYCE had to help. He had the Mexican roll and others and said they were very good and fresh. PLUS: they let me custom roll by substitute salmon for smoked which I appreciated. APPETIZERS: really impressed. They were tasty and come out hot and crispy- fried fresh we had to let cool down to eat! Loved the shrimp tempura (2 pieces) we ordered it twice! Also had steamed gyoza (5) shared veggie tempura which included broccoli, slice sweet potato, onion, asparagus, whole mushroom, and for dessert had ice cream and shared the yummy banana tempura and Asian donuts (both about 4-5 pieces). Everything was closed today due to Hurricane Nicole and I didn't want fast food so we checked this place out and. We got the veggie tempura which was so good!! And we got the shrimp fried rice which was more hibachi style but still delicious. I have been wanting to try this place since my sushi loving friend told me about it. We went today and I thought it was awesome! For $15 you get all you can eat sushi with appetizers. There is a great selection of rolls and there are also premium roll options for an extra cost, but I was perfectly happy with the included options. I tried the steamed gyoza and found that enjoyable. I tried several different sushi rolls and enjoyed all of them. I really felt happy about getting to branch out and try different varieties since I knew I could get others on the next round. One of my favorites was the yummy yummy roll. It had spicy krab and avocado and was very good. The salmon and tuna nagiri were good. I liked all of the rolls I tried honestly and felt it was good sushi for a great price. Our server was very friendly and checked on us regularly. The food also came out very quickly. Stopped here for lunch yesterday. Was surprised how busy it got on a Friday. They had every other table blocked off for social distancing and had hand sanitizer at every table. We opted for the ayce lunch option. You choose what you want by marking it on the menu. You can choose as much as you want and can order multiple times but they do charge for wasted food (as they should!). At $17.99 this was a great deal. I didn't take a picture of the menu but I believe other people posted some. On the ayce menu you have appetizer options, sushi rolls, and sashimi. They have speciality rolls for $1.25 up charge. The rolls they give you are smaller than normal rolls which is nice so you can try multiple rolls. Everything we had was delicious and fresh. The only thing we didn't like were the fried "scallops" which were not scallops at all but were some type of white fish. Will definitely return. read more

The food that you get reflects how much you pay. It is about ~$16 a person for all you can eat sushi and appetizers. There is an additional charge for each plate of specialty sushi. You will get their menu and a pencil and this is where you jot down what you would like. Once the waiter collects the paper it takes about 7-10 min for your food to come out. This place is top tier. Not comparing to places like Kabooki/Ootoya/Hinode/Hatsuhana due to pricing of course. Not upscale, but if you're looking for an affordable but still good place to stuff your belly, then this is it! Over the years, they've been experimenting with prices and portions of their rolls and I think they have reached the golden spot. Their all day sushi special is sooooo good! If you don't eat much and usually want/have leftovers, go with this over the all you can eat. They have a lot of delicious options, they all taste amazing, and the filling is generous. We ordered from them twice in one week, and I can't wait for dining-in to become normalized so I can experience the all you can eat again. Go with ayce if you're craving a variety of appetizers! I was sad when they removed the tempura krabsticks from 'ayce' appetizers a while ago, but I'll try their fried scallops when I can! Maybe they're even better. And you bet I'll try putting them on top of the sushi too! My favorite small roll is Tai because I obsess over seaweed salad and they're one of the few places around here who put it in a roll! I love their Heaven roll. (Lemon on it instead of ponzu would be amazing, but still good!) And I think the BBQ Chicken roll is interesting! Most places have just plain chicken with sauce on top, but this one was shredded and mixed into the sauce! It might be a bit much on its own if you're not looking for American bbq in your sush, but pair the bite with their veggie roll, and that is a perfect combo. I thought it would be nice to try a sushi restaurant in Orlando as there AREN'T many good ones in the city (in my opinion). Sushi cafe is one to add to the list. I wasn't impressed at all. The restaurant is adamant on no sharing and although I can understand it to a point, having someone try one piece of one roll doesn't mean that they're sharing. The clear soup was delicious and not overly salty as was the miso soup. The gyoza were very greasy. This little place located in an unassuming plaza is great for simple sushi. They have a pretty comprehensive all-you-can-eat (AYCE) menu and the staff is friendly and efficient. It usually isn't crowded so there are no issues finding where to sit. They have a new policy where everyone at the same table must order from the same menu (i.e. one person wants all-you-can-eat means that everyone must order from the all you can eat menu.) I typically order tuna and salmon nigiri, spicy tuna rolls, avocado and salmon rolls, and their clear soup. They do not have sashimi as part of the AYCE menu which is unfortunate since it's my favorite! They do have a standard menu which includes speciality rolls and hibachi but I haven't given those a try just yet. All in all the Sushi Cafe is a good option to try if like sushi at reasonable prices. read more

This place is pretty decent. For about 15 dollars, the fact that you can eat all the sushi you want is pretty neat. The sushi on the menu for "all you can eat" is limited to the more simple rolls. The fancier and tastier rolls you have to pay an additional 2 dollars for. They do issue a penalty if you order more than you can finish. So please be wary of that. This place was AMAZING! It's quiet and small, which I prefer over the loud sushi joints. The AYCE menu is small, but the portions more than make up for it. I ordered several nigiri (salmon, yellowtail, eel, krab and tamago) and the pieces of protein were double or triple the usual. The rolls were pretty sizable as well. And the price is unbeatable, $15.99 any time of day. If you visit, try the fried scallops. I usually dislike scallops but they melt in your mouth and taste so sweet and salty. The staff seemed to be a family, with 2-3 young men working and an adult woman. The service was perfect, all smiles and checking in and filling drinks. They answered any questions about the menu and even offered the table next to us the option of making them a roll off menu if the guests had the recipe. My only complaint: the water was very mineral filled and "hard", even with a lemon. But most restaurant water in FL is and I got sweet tea to make up for it. 5/5 read more

Change is the one constant at Sushi Cafe, and unfortunately I'm on the edge of adjusting my rating to three stars. Not yet, but I'm on the verge -- we'll see what the future holds. Much of my original review still stands, but the prices and selection are constantly in flux on the AYCE menu. Lunch/Dinner used to be $12.99/$19.99 with more options on the dinner menu, then it was $12.99 all day with the same menu regardless of time, then it was $12.99/$14.99. They're clearly trying to find that sweet spot where the maximum number of people are happy. They said they got complaints about the dinner prices when it was $19.99. Frankly, I think that's ridiculous, because one look at the dinner menu's nigiri options and you'd know that it's worth the extra money for the extra selection. But hey, I'm only one guy, so they took that menu away, using the lunch menu as the all-day $12.99 special. The lunch menu was still pretty good, and for the price it was an absolute steal, but then this $12.99/$14.99 change happened. We came in for lunch (our 7th visit, I believe) and the menu was missing the unagi nigiri. My brain went: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Apparently the unagi is only available on the dinner menu now. Dammit. But we soldiered on. Unfortunately it also seemed that, on the nigiri we did order, the cuts were noticeably thinner than previous occasions. Oh dear. That's the mark of a restaurant struggling with unsustainable prices. However, it IS still a good deal at $12.99. Just not the "too-good-to-be-true, angels singing, unicorns prancing" kind of good deal that it was when Sushi Cafe first opened. Part of me is glad that they're trying so hard to keep that price intact, but I personally would shell out an extra couple of bucks to see their nigiri stay at the level it had previously been at. I may be in the minority though, so we'll just have to see what happens. I'm sure this won't be the last change we see. I really wish them the best of luck, and I hope to see that big dining area of theirs a bit more full next time. read more

Second, I asked for a vanilla ice cream for 15 minutes, the waitress just talked to other table, ignored me for 15 minutes. Sushi, I can understand, ice cream, come on! Third, the waitress didn't tell me if you can't eat 100% the food you ordered, they will charge me money. I only leave half of a sushi, a tiny piece, twice. I have never written a review before on Yelp or anywhere else and created an account just for this review. I apologize at how crazy long this review is but I've never BEEN THREATENED by a restaurant manager before, so I wanted to explain what took place. My boyfriend and I decided to eat lunch there the other day. As soon as you walk in to Sushi Cafe you are bombarded with ads and signs for all of their specials. Their "All You Can Eat" Special is $16. It seemed to be a bit much to spend over $40 for one casual lunch for 2 people, so we asked if we could share the "All You Can Eat", I doubted she would yes, because it makes no sense to be able to share, but to our surprise THE SERVER SAID YES and went on to say that you had to eat everything you order or else you would incur extra charges. So when she says this my date and I look at each other and go: 'Ok, that must be how they get you." We should have ordered a la carte but we decided to get the special anyway. We filled out one card ( Oh yeah, there is a whole complicated system that goes along with it) for both our orders. Because we were warned about eating everything, we ordered a very conservative amount. And the serving portions you get are pretty small. Our server seemed very rushed and her over all demeanor to us was that she simply did not want to be there. After we finished we are brought our bill and see that it is $45 ( tip not included ) and 2 specials are listed. We ask our server why she put 2 specials and says very rudely that it's because we both ate, which was confusing because SHE LITERALLY SAID WE COULD SPLIT IT. We ask her to bring the manager and she leaves the table for like exactly 20 seconds, so there is absolutely no way she actually talked to anyone. She simply walked into the kitchen, waited a few seconds, and then returned to say we had to pay the whole thing. This is honestly the part that had us the most ticked off- because this server had no intention of doing her job and seemed enraged that we were asking her to do it. At this my boyfriend demands to talk to a manager. She returns with the owner/ manager and he very rudely asks what the problem is. HE IS ANGRY WITH US BEFORE WE EVEN SAY ANYTHING TO HIM. We try to explain to him our confusion over the special and he scoffs and says of course it's' only one special per person. I tell him normally that would make sense and I see his point but we were confused because: 1. I've never eaten an "All You Can Eat" at any place but a buffet before. 2. There are no details or instructions written on any of the litany of ads, menus and printouts they have. 3. THE SERVER LITERALLY JUST SAID "YES YOU CAN JUST DON'T ORDER A SHITLOAD OF STUFF." Instead of any sort of apology we got a lot of defensive behavior which ended with the manager saying we had to pay or HE WOULD CALL THE COPS!!! As a result, we had a whopping $4 taken off of our bill ( thanks). We paid $41 for 3 rubbery, small rolls ( which would have been $11 if we ordered a la carte) We also had a very bland miso, watery salad, edamame, and drinks ( Maybe another $15-$17 worth of food) And it was all delivered with a very sharp, snarky attitude. read more

They are always refilling your drinks and making sure you have everything you need They have amazing prices $2.50 for 4 average sized rolls -- however you can get plenty for such a low price There is outdoor seating and nightly specials.
