All-you-can-eat sushi: thick slabs of rice (3 inches) with almost no fish and very poor quality. The sushi chef consistently skimps on rolls. The end pieces of many rolls often is only rice and cucumber. Service is poor. The food comes out extremely slow and the servers are not attentive. We didn't want to have dinner here. We drove across the river specifically to have dinner at Lotawata Creek. However, we were STARVING, and when we got to Lotawata, the wait was 45-60 minutes, so we decided to find a plan B. We'd eaten at the Sushi Ai in Dorsett a few times, so when we saw the restaurant we decided sushi was a good option. To be honest, the condition of the booths put me off a bit. While still comfortable, the material used was not designed for high traffic usage, and they look horrible. My grumbling stomach, already 2 hours past dinner time, made me put appearances aside and we sat down. So glad we did. Our eyes were almost bigger than our stomachs, but we managed to finish everything. Tempura vegetables, onion rings, and spring rolls were a hefty start. Next came California rolls, Rainbow rolls, an Angry Dragon roll, and a honey roll. We followed that up with another roll (it had tempura shrimp, but don't remember the name), and crab Rangoon. Sad to say that after the six years of loyal patronage, dispute mediocre food, I'm sad to say we just had the WORST customer service experience and urge everyone to steer clear! They are fraudulent liars! Have charged us for items ordered yet not received way too many time and this time the patience and desire to support this small business wore off. 1 of the 5 items ordered were delivered tonight. My husband chased after the delivery driver and she sped off but not before she had the audacity to accept and ADDITIONAL cash tip. When we called to explain the missing items, we were ultimately told WE were LIARS! I then heard their "longtime" driver claim she'd delivered multiple bags of food. $60 and my family is unfed. This place has really gone down hill. Nigiri is so thin in many cases you can see the rice through the holes. The rice is chinese long grain white rice, not short grain sushi rice. They were very saucy with the rolls. The lunch menu has greatly reduced their offerings. Additionally many have switched to the more costly row for ordering. My friend and I decided to go to this location today. We usually go to the location in Arnold and we love it. We were in the area so we stopped in. The place is very run down. In my opinion, if you want to bring people in, make it look nice. It doesn't need to be a luxury place, but fix the run down seats. We ordered the all you can eat deal and we both agreed it sucked. It was wrapped horribly. When we tried to pick it up, they all fell apart. The fish was rubbery and my friend's fried roll had an awful taste. Later, we both got sick. The seating is falling apart on the surface and could really use replacing, but the quality of food will keep us coming back. We used to go to the Sushi Ai on Dorsett in MO, but their quality started heavily declining and wasn't super to begin with, so we stopped going there. We were in the area of this location recently and feeling sushi, so we stopped in and were wowed with the quality so much that we came back some weeks later (a 30+ minute drive) with the same result. The service was fantastic the first time (literally one other customer that time--probably 2PM on a Saturday) and above average the second time (busier--weeknight evening)--we did have to ask again for an item and there was confusion over who's plate was whose when he brought a plate and said the incorrect name of the sushi, resulting in the person asking for hot sauce, because it was supposed to be made spicy only to realize the plates at been mixed up after the hot sauce was added. Due to the mistake and now having two spicy rolls and no not-spicy roll, they made more not-spicy sushi fresh and allowed the person who likes hot sauce to take that "ruined" sushi home without being charged for it. We love the food; lots to choose from, though the entire sushi menu is not on the AYCE menu. But unlike the Dorsett location, this one has a couple types of chicken entrees (in smaller but still decent size quantities) on the AYCE menu as well as tempura (fried) oreos--yuuummmm. I am regretting doing this review now, because I want to go back for more now! I'm specifically a fan of the yamasa roll, the eel nigiri, and my husband likes this miso soup more than any other place he's had it. We love the shumai and sweet and sour chicken, as well. The California roll is also good. My husband likes the Philadelphia roll and some others I don't remember. There is a different all-you-can-eat price for weekend and weekday as well as lunch for both weekend and weekday; weekday lunch cheapest and weekend dinner most expensive. Definitely not cheap for weekend dinner, but it's AYCE and very good. You do have to pay for what you do not finish, so don't order a ton up front. You can keep placing orders for more. read more

So what do u know about fish to rice ratio? Take a look at how Sushi Ai does it to optimize profit. The place looks poorly maintained. Chairs and booths are damaged and look like they were bought from a fourth hand store. They look worn down, discolored, and material peeling off. I was uncomfortable just sitting there. Service was alright. Brought the food as ordered. Plus: filled water as needed. My friend and I were only interested in the normal AYCE option but the premium had the ice cream, so we asked if we could get ice cream in addition to the dinner for an added price. The server said it was no problem, which was really nice. Con: the ice cream was freezer burned. Options included green tea, which we ordered, but were given vanilla instead. When we asked the server, they said they did not have green tea so they gave us vanilla instead (without letting us know or asking if we still wanted it). Major con: the vanilla ice cream was so artificial I thought I was eating cold gum/taffy. Ok, so appearances and service aside, how was the food? Awful. Don't go here. There's an understood/implied decrease in quality for higher quantity at AYCE places. I was still blown away by how low quality this place was, despite having these expectations. It's an AYCE sushi place so we started with and planned to stick with the sushi. Well, it was so bad that we had to move to appetizers to get eat towards the value we paid for. So here's the run down: Sushi? U mean rice with a side of thinly cut fish, similar in size to when Mickey cut the bread in 'Mickey and the bean stalk'. Don't worry I'll attach a pic for reference. I lost all interest in taking pics of the food after the sushi but we got appetizers after so we could eat something outside of rice. Crab Rangoon was sweet, like a dessert (without any sweet and sour sauce, seriously?). Did they accidentally add imitation crab meat to cheesecake batter and thought it was a good idea to go with it??? Gyoza - decent and edible. Onion rings and vegetable tempura were flavorless but fried well. Drench them in the given sauces and there was flavor. Sweet and sour chicken was drenched in sauce and just flat out tasted sour. I was able to eat my half of the other stuff but I really couldn't manage this one. We also ordered Oreo tempura but I couldn't eat it bc I was so sick of all the sweet or sour things by that point. And I love Oreos. Apparently it was the best thing there though bc they only fried it and didn't tamper with it any further. I would prefer to put more effort into reviews so they would be higher in quality and more informative, but this place was so bad I just want to get rid of these memories at this point. Over the past year, I've been here a few times for the all-you-can-eat and a few times for takeout. The portions are usually pretty decent for an all-you-can-eat deal but there have been some times when I've eaten there and the rolls aren't very substantial-looking at all. I've started going to other places for my sushi fix because there's no telling what sort of quality I'm going to get here on any given day. I will say that I haven't tried much of their hot food (I usually just get sushi) so maybe that might have more consistency in quality, but I can't say (I did have shumai one or two times and it was good). The staff are usually very nice and patient if I'm having a hard time deciding what to eat. The seats are falling apart and some have holes in them so if you're looking for a luxury sushi experience, this isn't going to be it. However, if you're looking for some quick takeout sushi (they always had my order ready in 15 minutes) or a typically decent all-you-can-eat deal, this is a good place for you. read more

My friend and I ordered the premium all you can eat for $20. We didn't receive the nigiri we ordered at the same time as the rolls. I guess they hope you fill up on those and don't want the nigiri...rolls had too much rice and the fish was pretty eh. When we finally got the nigiri after our rolls(we had to order it again) I was given what my friend ordered, on top of what I ordered. He got what he ordered. So I had to either be charged for the extra sushi, or eat it all...the rice balls that came with the nigiri were MASSIVE. DO NOT get any crab or shrimp here, as it was the most gummy and chewy crap I've ever had. The slices of fish were so thin I could almost see through them. Ratio of rice to fish was absurd... The ambiance is that you're inside of a china king(it's the other half of sushi ai) so there a lot to ask for in terms of nice things. Almost every order was 20 to 30 minutes late, food was cold, tossed around, and missing items. We took a two month break because of it...and at the urging of my daughter, we decided to order again for her birthday (she loves sushi). Wow...again order was 20 minutes late, cold, tossed around, and missing all of the food for the kids. Demanded refund and owners number. They have lost a customer who typically ordered $80-$90 of food once a month (or even 4 times a month when we were busy running kids around).
