I've never been here and I was adventurous. I came in 30 minutes before closing and right away, I received attitude. Apparently he was the owner : Michael. He was very rude and did not want to help me what so ever and was not willing to explain the menu. I assume he was on drugs because he licking his lips and his eyes were weird... but 90$ for rude service and food wasn't tasty and honestly we didn't try it because we aren't sure what they were capable of on the food. Jim was also a worker there and was giving same attitude and honestly all I wanted was to try new food and to have good experience. I know should've ask for refund but I'm sure they need the money more than I do. I'm a server myself and I know restaurant industry standards and this was beyond unacceptable and unprofessional. Wow. What a hidden gem! Did not expect to find such a great poke/sushi spot coming home from a rodeo in Salinas. The ratings are 100% correct. My girlfriend and I both got a poke bowl which is stacked with toppings. They also had noodles and wontons etc that looked good, but we didn't get that. They also have tons of cool Japanese snacks and treats which I also didn't grab because I'm tryna cut back for my summer body unfortunately. Next time! But there was packaged/prepared sushi in an open fridge for a grab-n-go experience. The sushi we decided to grab was pretty good. The California roll was only $6.50 which is a steal for the quality. The pork chashu ramen was a tad bit too salty for my liking but the toppings were plentiful. The seaweed salad was $5 dollars, not too bad but it's a little pricey for a side dish. It's a tiny and very casual shop with limited sushi roll options but the fish was very fresh. There are 3-4 tables inside for dining in but you are served with take out material. This is the only thing I was a bit disappointed, maybe it will change in the future! I have had so many pushes on this place that I finally decided to try it out. I hadn't tried Sushi Hut before because, c'mon, man, it's a Japanese/Korean "fast food" restaurant in the late Bill Shaw's Shaker Square Shopping Center sitting between El Super, and Cricket Wireless and a Michoacan paleteria. I was so wrong! Sushi Hut is AWESOME!!! Food? I ordered a poke bowl with brown rice, eel, double salmon, yuzu and chili sesame sauces, onion (crunchy deep fried onion flakes), and everything to go. It was $16 and came in a recyclable, reusable bowl with lid. I ate almost all of it, and I'm not a big eater. I liked the pineapple in it, but the yuzu sauce was a touch sweet for my taste. Everything in my bowl was fresh and tasty. There are grab-and-go sushi boxes in a cold case that are an exceptional value. I'm sure they would be a fresh and tasty option too! Ambiance? While I waited for my bowl, I browsed the snack racks, and then started looking at the paintings on the walls. I asked about them as they were so striking. They had been specially commissioned by the artist Paul "Bika" Steinhauer. They were very colorful, emotionally alive, abstracts loosely based on an Asian religious and/or food theme. What an amazing art display to find in a Latino shopping center!!! I would recommend going to Sushi Hut just to see a world class art exhibit! Service? I knew what I wanted, and so didn't need help. However, if I had questions, I could tell that they would be answered in a friendly manner. When I asked about the paintings, the young man was very informative. This is by far one of my favorite places. Service is amazing, very down to earth. The ramen is to die for, unfortunately I could never wait long enough to take a photo. I've been going to Sushi Hut for about 2 years, and noting has changed, always a very chill environment. The ramen broth is so good, savory and tasty, I always enjoy every bite. We enjoyed the meal, the people were friendly and welcoming, and the store itself was pleasant with some unique art on the walls which we enjoyed looking at. I am but a mere mortal whose tastes are entirely subjective. However, I pride myself on finding the best of best. Now let me tell you, this was the BEST poke bowl I've had in long time. The ingredients were fresh. The cucumber was crunchy and refreshing, the avocado was included (huge plus bc most other places add a charge), and the sauces were light but tasty. Sushi is great as well. However, their taiyaki (fried dough w/ red bean paste) wasn't the best. The flavor was good but the taiyaki wasn't as crunchy -- their not meant to super crunchy either but some vendors do give it some nice texture. Which was lacking here. Yet, this place warrants five stars alone for its poke and sushi. Again this place is located in a plaza so don't be turned off by that. Also, the ambiance of the place is that of a bodega. There are snacks and people coming in and out, however, this place deserves the old college try from everyone. read more

Very sour, strongly flavored, tasted like tamarind, cranberry, and raspberry had a threesome. No ice, but there was lots of frozen fruit -- I think I saw raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Really liked that -- cold drink that stays cold yet doesn't get watered down. Was not expecting boba at the bottom. Did not taste tea, other flavors were overwhelming. I'm not a fan of sour drinks, I wouldn't get this again. This most definitely contains real fruit and I'd recommend it to ppl who like drinks that make you pucker. 5/5 I won't be back and I would not recommend getting anything with raw fish here. read more

I was looking forward to enjoying a good sushi spot and this place popped up as a very popular place for sushi in the nation. They mostly serve poke. I did get in line behind a beautiful lady. She just finished ordering and I proceeded to order a poke bowl. Five minutes later both of our orders were completed and promptly handed to us. I think this place does a wonderful job for providing multiple combinations of flavors. My only complaint would be that the size of the sushi servings were much too small, they offer three choices of protein, but I'm not sure if it came from a baby spoon.
