Cozy sushi place with quick friendly service. Sushi was fresh and good value. They have many specialty rolls and each one we tried was great.

This is a good place for flying solo or casual dates. It's located in a tucked away shopping center. The dining is small and intimate and traditional. When I arrived I was the only customer there and no one was behind the sushi bar so it was a little off putting almost like it wasn't even open but soon a nice woman greeted me. I had a spicy tuna hand roll , shaggy dog roll and a miso soup of course. All were tasty!

Stopped here for dinner coming home from Cedar Park. It is unassuming in a strip mall with ample parking (Yay!). Once inside it is cozy without feeling overcrowded. We had great service that quickly attended to our needs. It was great to see many regulars stop in while we were eating so we knew it had to be good. The miso soup was great. The Silver Sashimi was fresh and the fatty fish was melt in your mouth delicious. We also had the Avocado Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, and the Spicy Tuna Roll. All were delicious and I would recommend. If in the area, this is a great spot for a sushi fix!

Okay, why has nobody told me to go check out Sushi Moto is beyond me. This place is outstanding from service to food. You can just tell quality matters here. We came in for lunch so that of course might affect pricing due to their specials but I highly recommend coming in for them. Great pricing and amazing portions! I got the 2 roll + miso soup special and my partner got the cali roll + chefs choice special. We also ordered some spicy garlic edamame (not pictured sorry, we went into town so fast and could not stop ). The Philly rolls were so dang good and all the sushi pieces from chefs choice were phenomenal. Top quality fish and you could taste it. The area is small and cozy. Feels very home-y and authentic. You feel right at home as soon as you walk in, to the moment you walk out. Parking is not terrible given the amount of shops in the strip mall. 5/5 and will be back again asap!

I loved the ambiance of this place, its small but so cozy and cute and makes you feel nice and comfortable, the sushi was yummy and I loved having the fire right at my table! Our server was wonderful and helpful! It was very fun and a great date spot!

I have tried their lunch twice now and it is worth it. I get the two rolls and miso soup. Their seating area is small but comfortable. It is table service. You are brought a bottle of water and a menu. Both lunch and dinner. the rolls I have ordered were spicy crab and shrimp tempura both times. They were fresh and filling. Tasted very good. Miso soup was good also. It is never busy during lunch so food is served quickly. Yes, they can do take out. Lunch price is about $15.00 I will be going back

You cannot watch the chef prepare your sushi or drink any alcoholic beverages, but the experience is pleasant and quite gratifying. Service was top notch. My miso soup was a total miss (clearly from a package) but the shrimp tempura arrived hot and with just the right amount of batter and crunch. The real winner for me was the surprising Yellowtail Fiesta: yellowtail sashimi dressed with truffle oil, Ponzu sauce, scallions, and Serano slices. My dinner companions were especially delighted with their pepper tuna and sashimi plate. Neighboring tables were served sushi rolls on a flaming platter. Food presentation was artful and impactful. The congenial waitress was willing to write separate checks for us.

I was in the area and decided to try this place and boy am I glad I did! This cute little sushi spot studio Ghibli inspired, and has some of the best sushi I've had! The decor is so beautiful and the music is great, mostly instrumental versions of the hits! I was seated immediately upon entering. I noticed that some of the chairs were made out of plastic. Particularly the chairs at the table next to me had tape on some of the legs. I was uncomfortable and nervous, sitting in such a fragile chair. I noticed the larger tables had wooden chairs so I asked, and I asked if I was able to use the wooden chair instead. They were so kind and accommodating allowing me to switch chairs, which made me so much more comfortable and able to focus on my meal. I love a place that's accessible to all! I ordered three rolls and they were all delicious! The spicy dragon roll ended up coming wrapped in foil and on fire! Not only was it tasty, it was also a beautiful show. I also ordered green tea It was earthy and warm, just how I like it! The waitress was so attentive and helpful answering all my questions, refilling my water and checking in to see if I needed anything. It was also very reasonably priced. I really like this place and plan on returning.

Piling on with another 5-star review. I agree with Michael B. that Sushi Moto is indeed a CP hidden gem. This cozy family-owned business is turning out high quality sushi. Yes, they do have rolls and some cooked entrees if you dine with folks who are not into sushi. We are into sushi and are very particular where we eat sushi having been spoiled by Chef Andy at Soto. If Sotos is the OG then Moto is a strong second. Everything from our Miso soup to our Edamame and finally our entrees were spectacular. We opted for one of their sushi samplers. I added an order of king salmon. All the fish was fresh and had some interesting toppings (a hint really) to complement each selection. I believe one was roasted garlic. We were also gifted with an order of their truffle chu-toro sashimi. The thinly sliced toro was served with just the right amount of truffle oil and was spiced perfectly with wasabi and spicy ponzu. There are some very interesting menu options like baby octopus and calamari balls that I'll be enjoying on my return visit(s). Their lunch options look pretty darn good as well. Pro tip: We like to have something sweet post sushi. Well look no farther than the other end of the strip mall and you will find another hidden gem, Ecuadorian Chocolate.

    Nigiri set
    Cam H.

Their rolls were excellent, but I wasn't a big fan of the nigiri. For some reason, the fish just wasn't distinguishable from one another, they all tasted very similar and the toppings/taste were not remarkable. It was a good deal though for the price. I would definitely come back for their rolls though. The flavor profile of the wagyu was amazing! I love that it was initially lit on fire, creating a perfect smokey flavor. The waitress was very nice. I liked the music that was playing (spirited away theme song) in the background when we were there.

Foreground: Sphinx Roll. Background: Sumo Roll. Both excellent!
    Michael B.

TLDR: This is one of Cedar Park's hidden gems. Sushi Moto's got that Japanese family vibe, with fast and friendly service. The menu's extensive, with lots of rolls that cater to both an Asian and Western audience. (There's good quality uni available, as well as more American rolls that use cream cheese, for example.) Fried gyoza, tempura shrimp, and egg roll appetizers were uniformly freshly cooked and excellent all the way around. The eel roll, sphinx roll (fried roll with assorted chopped fish), sumo roll (tuna, salmon, cucumber, avocado), all very good. The smelt eggs in sushi form was perfectly crisp. Of special mention is the spicy garlic edamame. Garlicy, slightly hot, and finger-licking good, I said that the sauce was so good that I'd eat it on chicken wings. Not to be outdone, my friend announced that he'd eat his own flip-flops with this sauce on it! Definite recommend, if you're in CP and need to get your sushi fix, this is the place to do it. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Soto consistently delivers beyond fresh sushi and straight from Japan specialties. Want to mix some meat with your sushi? Then go for their imported Wagyu beef. It will melt in your mouth. The prices are certainly not on the "all you can eat" sushi restaurant scale, but you are paying premium for premium. On this visit, we arrived during their happy hour. Do check out their HH menu; it is more than generous. I'm not going to bore you with our selections, but the sushi is so tender and fresh that you are insulting the chef and the fish by adding soy sauce and wasabi! One highlight was the Spicy Tuna Katsu Maki; this entrée is wrapped in a seaweed cone with asparagus, avocado, wasabi mayo, and eel sauce. Another was Uni from their imported from Japan menu. My oh my, it was so fresh and creamy! If you do not want to break the bank, their HH and lunch specials will do you right. Do make reservations if you wish to sit at the sushi bar. Speaking of bars, they have a full bar and their martinis are perfectly made. You can expect 5-star service at this 5-star restaurant. Who would have thunk that one of the best sushi restaurants (IMHO) in Austin would be in the CP and located in a strip mall next to the Dollar Tree store!

We finally made it back last Saturday for lunch, and it was definitely worth the wait. I was initially excited to try one of their bento meals after seeing the menu online, but the prices at the restaurant were much higher than what was posted. That's understandable considering how much costs have gone up over the years, so we decided to go with the AYCE option instead. It turned out to be the perfect choice. A special shoutout to our server, whose name I unfortunately forgot to ask. She was friendly, attentive, and honest enough to recommend that we not order too much at first because the tempura portions are much larger than expected. The portion sizes here are much bigger than what we're used to at AYCE sushi restaurants in San Antonio. The shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura were generously sized, with thick, crispy batter that was still flavorful and delicious. Some of our favorite were the Salmon Skin salad, which stayed perfectly crispy even with the dressing, and the Mushroom Soup, which was light, flavorful, and not thick or creamy like many other versions. The shrimp and chicken shumai, chicken karaage, mango rolls, and all of the sashimi we ordered were fresh and delicious as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Between the generous portions, fresh and tasty food, and outstanding service, Sushi Bang Bang reminded us why we enjoyed dining here years ago. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Austin--and now we know to order a little more wisely because the portions are huge!

I started with the gyozas -- filled with chicken and veggies, and really affordable at around $6 for 6. The sauce was delicious, and I shared them with my family, who also thought they were great. You can get them fried or steamed; I went with steamed. Next, I ordered the salmon avocado roll, and it was literally the best roll I've ever eaten. I dipped it in soy sauce, and for those who avoid preservatives, they even offer a soy sauce with just soy, wheat, salt, and water -- perfect for me! I ended up ordering four orders of six rolls (yes, they were that good) and ate them all by myself. Each order was about $9, with $7 for just salmon -- avocado was an add-on. The Sexy Mango roll was my mom's favorite -- she said it tasted refreshing. We also tried sashimi sushi, which was served in a cool cup and tasted amazing. My brother went all out and ate 30 avocado rolls, and the chef was kind enough to give him a super-sized sushi with extra avocado and rice -- I was so jealous! I also tried the Beef Bulgogi, which was delicious and priced at about $13 -- very reasonable. Around 4:00 pm on Saturday, the restaurant wasn't crowded, which made it perfect to enjoy our meal. The K-pop music in the background was a fun touch, too. Seriously, the salmon avocado rolls were the best I've ever had. I'll definitely be back next time I'm nearby!

The quality of the fish seemed decent, but I wish there was more of it in the roll. And I wish the wasabi was a little stronger. The chicken udon bowl was probably my favorite of the night. The udon itself was the perfect texture and really bouncy. The broth was deep and had a rich sweetness. And the chicken was really juicy. The chashu ramen was okay though. I wish the noodles were cooked a little more, I wish the pork was more tender, and I wish the egg was jammier since the whole yolk was basically hard boiled.
