    Sticky Miso Caramel Cake

Every time I come to Sushi-san, I'm clearing plates--no leftovers, ever. The vibes are always on point, the customer service is top-tier, and the food? Absolutely to die for. If you do nothing else, make SURE you order the sticky caramel miso cake and the Beef'N crispy rice. Trust me--you will not regret it. The cocktails are also a hit--anything yuzu (lemonade or margarita) is a must. I've been here five times now, and each visit is just as exciting as the last, which really speaks to their consistency. My go-to order usually includes the chili crunch cucumber, Brussels sprouts, gyoza, maki rolls, beef'n bop crispy rice, and of course, the sticky caramel miso cake to finish. Sushi-san never misses--can't recommend it enough.

Sushi San was amazing! They were very accommodating to my friend's nut/soy allergy. The food itself was delicious, I would definitely recommend the crispy rice for its crunchy texture. Indoors was very well decorated and the bathrooms downstairs were clean.

Had a wonderful time sitting at the bar! Keaton and Conner took excellent care of us and gave excellent service. This place has incredible deals. You must come for lunch. Everything was fresh and delicious and if we lived in Chicago, we would absolutely frequent this place more often

Food here is really good. We had the Lincoln lunch special which is a set menu. A lot of food for the price of sushi. Favorite was the umami handrolls. Edmame was also good. We got a chicken nugget order for the table and it's their version of chicken karaage: favorite of the table. Service was spectacular. All the staff were so nice and our server checked on us throughout our meal. Restaurant is super cute and decorated nicely. Very clean. Super cute date night spot. 10/10

We had a really great experience at Sushi-San last weekend. Even though it was a really busy time, we were seated and served really quickly. The staff was really friendly and fun. I also appreciated how diverse the menu was - our whole group wanted different foods and we all found something that we really liked.

Not sure how I hadn't been to sushi-San yet but was VERY impressed - lettuce entertain you restaurants never miss! Came for lunch on a Sunday and vibes were so good. We sat by the window and got to enjoy but the lovely sunny weather and the cool interior. They have such great lunch specials here!! The bento box lets you choose any three items from the list along with a miso soup. I got the spicy salmon (5 pc) and yuzu tuna (5 pc) rolls with seaweed salad and it was so much food for $21! Very good flavor and the service was also great. Will definitely be back!

Went for a quick lunch get together with my besties here. I love the decor inside, very clean, and very bright! We tried their lunch combo deal, which is worth it, especially if you're trying different food to share with your friends. So delicious. Their drinks are cute and good too! And can't say anything bad about service, very attentive staff! Can't wait to go back!

Took my best friend here for her first sushi experience and she loved it! She did the lunch express which was a really good deal and she enjoyed the rolls that she got. I got nigiri, hand rolls and the chicken and it was all soo good! The tuna nigiri was my favorite even though salmon is typically my favorite. Love the space and the ambiance! And service was fantastic.

We came to Sushi-San for lunch because our friends had been hyping it up. Turns out, they were right. The food was fantastic and so much of it was gluten-free friendly. We started out with the tuna crispy rice and it absolutely kicked things off. I was in a true sushi mood so I went for the 8 piece nigiri. They make one substitution because one of the salmons has gluten in the sauce but it was great. I'm not normally a California roll guy but the lobster California roll was also delicious. We closed it all off with the beef n bop which is a great closer that really fills you up. It's plenty of food and great to share so I'd highly recommend. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, Sushi-San was one of the best eats in all of Chicago.

This place was so nice and comforting. We walked in and didn't need a reservation even though we did book one but it was good. The service and ambiance was great. We came around happy hour and the deals are Great. We got their spicy salmon and tuna roll and it's really good. Also tried their third eye vision cocktail which is like a lychee martini but has gin in it. We also got their combo four handrolls and they were really good. Loved the Hamachi and Toro roll that we got. Keep coming back here because they have deals for happy hour.

WOW such a great takeout experience. I wasn't expecting much because the last I ordered (elsewhere) sushi for takeout it was very mediocre BUT this place blew me away-- so so delicious and tasted so fresh. I can't imagine how it taste when dining in if it was this good for takeout. You can just tell they really put a lot of though into making a good experience for those who can't dine in. It's not cheap but it was worth it! Next time if I can, I'll definitely try to eat there and get the full experience.

high grade sushi accompanied by delightful appetizers - the chicken nuggets are an elevated Japanese take on a classic dish. I was thrilled by the crispness! the dunking sauce was a bit like a tartar, but not enough for all the chicken pieces - the chilled soba noda noodles were like peanut noodles. they were bouncy, nutty, and vinegary. definitely light and refreshing - the wrinkly green beans had a slight sesame flavor but were overall pretty bland. they barely carried a flavor or texture - the spicy scallop roll was fascinating, thick layers of chewy rice surrounding avocado and cucumber topped with a chunk of chopped and mixed up scallops. they were a little bit too fishy for me not to notice but the texture and volume was incredible. - the snack-o had smooth buttery salmon with delicate avocado and a crunchy bite of shrimp tempura. perfectly created sushi with fresh ingredients rolled right in the back - the space is large and spread out, the downstairs bathroom is super nice and there's a counter in the back to watch the sushi magic happen

Came for happy hour with my best friend and loved it. The vibe is sleek and modern, with wooden tables and black plates. Really stylish without feeling over the top. Service was great, and the decor makes the whole experience feel elevated. We had a couple glasses of wine--rosé and sauvignon--and ordered the salmon and avocado rolls. Both were really good, though the avocado roll was my favorite. Happy hour offers great value, and we'll definitely be back to try dinner next time. There's paid street parking available and possibly valet, though it took me a few minutes to find a street spot. I got lucky finding one just across the street. Paying was super easy with the QR code at the end, and we were even able to split the bill through it, which was very convenient. I highly recommend this spot!!

5 star service and presentation and the price is right.

I could hear the sizzling from the grill, smell the food cooking, and by that point I was more than ready to eat. Our server was really nice and gave us a bunch of recommendations. Everything sounded good, but I ended up going with the Pork Belly Yakisoba. This dish was packed with flavor. The noodles had that smoky, slightly charred taste, and they were coated in just enough sauce to make every bite rich. The sauce brought a nice balance of savory, a little sweetness, and plenty of umami that soaked into the noodles. The pork belly was easily the best part. It was incredibly tender and juicy, with just enough fat that it practically melted in your mouth. Every piece had those caramelized edges that added even more flavor. Then you get the crunch from the cabbage and bean sprouts, the freshness from the scallions, and the little nutty flavor from the sesame that tied everything together. Hahaha I'd definitely come back. This is one of those dishes that sticked with me long after I left.

I got the pork okonomiyaki lunch set and added a fried egg to it. I like that the table has a built in grill to keep it warm (I'm a slow eater, so this is extra beneficial for me). The bacon was quite salty, compounded by the okonomi sauce. Hoping the kombu vegetables would offset this, I mixed them into each bite to no avail. The pandan coconut mochi donut holes I chose were probably the highlight. They were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and there was ample sauce for dipping. I think some people would find the service top notch here--constantly checking in on me and keeping water refilled. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

Watching an employee use their bare hands and mouth on food that was then served to a customer was extremely concerning and completely unacceptable from a food safety and hygiene standpoint. I was lucky because there was an opening at 6:00 but it's very difficult to get reservation here. All of the dishes were exquisitely crafted with meticulous attention to taste aesthetics and bar seating allowed you to experience the craft. Many of the people dining were there for celebrating birthdays or some type of meaningful event It is omikaze style. there's a set menu I had.23 course- maybe two drinks and skip the wine pairing because that would have been too much alcohol. The bill was around $800 Atmosphere: quiet almost church-like. nobody really talks at the beginning- made me a little bit uncomfortable but I guess that's what's to be expected from Michelin star restaurants? When the wine pairing options started flowing people begin to chat and even giggle towards the end of the meal, which made it feel like more of a communal experience. Interior: low light with dramatic spotlights highlighting the shifts. preparing your meal. clean. simple interior Zen like. no background music. again, sort of feeling like a meditative State focused on food. Birthday planning: I had called earlier and asked them if they could bring out a small dessert with a candle for birthday and they said no. the menu was already special. At the end of the meal , the host did offer a parting gift- it was the paper menu and chefs signed it. The same was given to the couple celebrating a birthday right next to us . While the sentiment was there. It felt like a last minute hack not at the level of a Michelin star restaurant. They could do better. People are paying quite a bit of money for the experience and if especially they're celebrating a birthday, it should be marked by Michelin star effort. Final verdict: I didn't feel warm welcome here despite the fact that the chefs here were well trained. it's unclear who the staff / waiters are and when you ask the wrong person for napkins You get an odd look. Staff there were quiet - no smiles. There was no inherent happiness, no synergy amongst the crew like I've felt at other restaurants. At one point an older gentleman scolded my guest for unraveling the wet towel ( oshibori )saying that it was not to be unraveled but pinched. He replaced it with another one. While I understand tradition and the craft behind following tradition. For me it was the subtle micro aggressions that made this experience fall flat on its face. We didn't have a warm feeling when we left the restaurant. In their defense: They are a new business. I really wish them the best of luck. I hope they can work out some of the hospitality kinks but the food and creativity is top notch. Unfortunately, this app does not allow me to separate the food (5/5) from the hospitality (2/5) and service. Score becomes three stars
