We share the d-luxe nigri and a couple of rolls, each week the d-luxe nigri is a little bit different which makes it interesting but it always has a nice serving of bluefin tuna. Did not expect to like Sushi-San as much as I did! Still thinking about the tuna crispy rice and tuna avocado roll in particular. Both were simple but done so well. We also tried the Peking duck crispy rice, it wasn't my favorite but everything else made up for it. The dish had a bit of a warm spice flavor which just didn't all go together in my opinion. Our waitress was great, I can't remember her name, but she gave us some recommendations and was very helpful in explaining everything that could be made gluten free. They put the gluten free soy sauce in a white bowl to differentiate it from all of the other black bowls which I thought was smart. I like the atmosphere in here but it is loud. The space seems to carry noise so coupled with the music they were playing it was a bit hard to hear at times. Would definitely come back! read more

My friends and I were a little disappointed by the service, but the atmosphere was nice. If you're looking for truly amazing sushi, there are other places in Chicagoland. However, if you're in the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area, this is a definitely a better option if you're looking for reliable sushi in a nice looking establishment - perfect for a date night. I have been dying to go here for their lunch special and finally had the opportunity! I arrived around 12:30 and it wasn't overly crowded on a Tuesday afternoon. I ordered my drink and my meal at the same time. The sushi and the drink were both amazing!! I loved it. The edamame was leaving more to be desired and I will probably skip it next time to get more sushi in the Express Lunch package. I will say the service was slightly disappointing. Everyone was nice but my soup, drink, and meal all came at the same exact time after waiting almost 25 minutes. I wished the drink would have come out closer to when I ordered, especially since it wasn't too busy that day. Also my drink came out in this ridiculous cat cup, fun, but just not very easy to drink out of and personally made me wonder how they clean all those crevices fully. Every time I come to Sushi-san, I'm clearing plates--no leftovers, ever. The vibes are always on point, the customer service is top-tier, and the food? Absolutely to die for. If you do nothing else, make SURE you order the sticky caramel miso cake and the Beef'N crispy rice. Trust me--you will not regret it. The cocktails are also a hit--anything yuzu (lemonade or margarita) is a must. I've been here five times now, and each visit is just as exciting as the last, which really speaks to their consistency. My go-to order usually includes the chili crunch cucumber, Brussels sprouts, gyoza, maki rolls, beef'n bop crispy rice, and of course, the sticky caramel miso cake to finish. Food here is really good. We had the Lincoln lunch special which is a set menu. A lot of food for the price of sushi. Favorite was the umami handrolls. Edmame was also good. We got a chicken nugget order for the table and it's their version of chicken karaage: favorite of the table. Service was spectacular. Not sure how I hadn't been to sushi-San yet but was VERY impressed - lettuce entertain you restaurants never miss! Came for lunch on a Sunday and vibes were so good. We sat by the window and got to enjoy but the lovely sunny weather and the cool interior. They have such great lunch specials here!! The bento box lets you choose any three items from the list along with a miso soup. I got the spicy salmon (5 pc) and yuzu tuna (5 pc) rolls with seaweed salad and it was so much food for $21! We came to Sushi-San for lunch because our friends had been hyping it up. Turns out, they were right. The food was fantastic and so much of it was gluten-free friendly. We started out with the tuna crispy rice and it absolutely kicked things off. I was in a true sushi mood so I went for the 8 piece nigiri. They make one substitution because one of the salmons has gluten in the sauce but it was great. I'm not normally a California roll guy but the lobster California roll was also delicious. We closed it all off with the beef n bop which is a great closer that really fills you up. It's plenty of food and great to share so I'd highly recommend. I wasn't expecting much because the last I ordered (elsewhere) sushi for takeout it was very mediocre BUT this place blew me away-- so so delicious and tasted so fresh. Sushi-San is a very high quality restaurant. I've been here multiple times and it always delivers! Their appetizers are smaller so make sure you choose 3-4 options if you're with a larger group! Everything I've tried has always been served to be aesthetically pleasing but also delicious! They have amazing cocktails. My favorite is Thank You Enjoy which is basically like a spicy margarita. My group ordered a few items from the HH menu and some from the regular menu as well. I've tried: MISO SALMON- delicious. I wish it came with any kind of sides (vegetables or carb). I ordered a side of plain rice to eat it with. JAPANESE EGGLPLANT TEMPURA (HH menu)- this was really good! BEEF N' BOP SIZZLING RICE- outstanding. We also ordered a variety of sushi rolls and handrolls, they were all fresh and delectable. I liked my LYCHEE MARTINI as well, I did not expect that the dried fruit was soaked in vodka then dried. It gave a little kick when I ate it. Service is attentive and friendly. The bathroom downstairs are clean and nice. Parking is of course challenging, given that it is in a busy street and area. I also got the crunchy avocado, miso soup and shrimp tempura rolls which were all delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Also just fyi the valet stand is in front of the Santa Monica restaurant. Parking can be tricky on halstead on weekends so I'd recommend uber or valet. The only thing we didn't like were the e-moshi desserts. The coating was dry and not tacky enough. Would definitely pass. Also because you pay with QR code at the table I think it takes people longer to settle the bill because you keep talking/ forget.
