We Googled this place and said let's give it a try. We walked in and to note we are not Caucasian. There were a few people people at the bar and ooh the looks we received as why are they here. However, the girl at the counter was pleasant to us when we walked in. We decided to sit inside since no one was at the tables and they were a few people outside, not buy at all and it was around 8:30pm We sat down the waitress, Asian lady was not rude but not friendly. No greeting, asked if we wanted water. She got the water, placed it down a little hard and that was that. We looked at each other and said oh lord, here we go. We sat for about 20 minutes before our order was taken. I mentioned it was not busy. Once we ordered it had taken another 20-25 to get our food and you CA. See below what we ordered it shouldn't have taken that long. Anywho, we received our food, then you can feel the Asian lady energy started to change for the better. She talked to us and was engaging. However, interesting experience. We ordered the following: Chicken Karaage - 5/5: This was good and the sauce that came along with it was good. I needed more for the amount of chicken that was given. Miss soup 5/5: it was good and not salty, just enough flavor. Salad 3/5: the salad was good, I should have ordered the salad dressing on the side, it was bit much on the salad. Shrimp tempura maki roll 5/5: fresh and good. Nice size cuts not too big or small. Veggie Maki roll 5/5: fresh and good. I would return if ever back in Utah.

We had the hamachi appetizer which was a special, and three rolls. The app had a nice balance of flavors. I especially like the red pepper miso sauce on this and another roll. Our rolls were the mammoth (a special today) the green hornet, volcano and Avenue. They were all good!

The decor and atmosphere are top notch with beautiful tapestries and lighting, booths with privacy blinds, and a large layout so it never feels cramped. I truly can't say enough great things about this place. It's so affordable compared to other sushi places in the area. I have not tried the entrees so I can't speak for those yet. Our favorite food options: Bamboo roll, Won Tons, Salmon Lover roll, Summer Citrus roll, Salmon, Tuna, and Red Snapper Sashimi, and Miso Soup.

The space is large with individual pagoda to sit in to add ambience. The menu had a photo of each roll, pieces of sushi or Chinese dishes. The lobby was quite large and lots of advertisement for additional businesses. Each one of these is a warning sign, I ignored. We ordered three separate rolls with different combinations. Now, our problems surfaced as there is so much aoili sauce on each roll, I can't tell which is which. We needed a knife to scoop the sauce to the side so we could identify each roll. All you could taste was an occasional crunch and lots of sauce. Tokyo Tower Japanese is not a place we will be frequenting in the future. It is lower quality, heavy-heavy aioli sauce and cheap sushi. The signs were there, but I ignored till the rolls arrived. Diner beware!

Arrived a few minutes before lunch was ending but told our server we'd like to enjoy the dinner options. Sashimi is a dinner item, nigiri for lunch. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating around the buffet. Our server was very attentive and provided us with sightseeing opportunities for our last day.

A Sushi Buffet with Surprises -- Fresh Rolls, Friendly Vibes & a Plate-Finding Adventure…read more We finally made it to Takumi Sushi & Buffet, and if you're into sushi buffets (guilty!), this spot has some standout features that make it worth the visit. The best part? You can order custom sushi rolls made fresh--no waiting around for dried-out rice rolls here. We tried the Sunrise Roll, which was bright and citrusy with a lemony kick, and the Tequila Roll, which packed some serious heat. I tapped out after one spicy piece (spice and I are not friends), but my other half loved it and polished off the rest without hesitation. The buffet line is a solid spread too: sashimi, nigiri, a seafood section with peeled shrimp, mussels, and rock crab, plus a bunch of hot dishes to round things out. Pro tip: The plates and bowls are underneath the buffet counters. It took me a moment to find them, but my shorter half was already ahead of the game--of course. They've got a dumpling station that's worth lingering over, and the pork belly buns were so good I may have gone back for seconds (and thirds). And if you're a prawn fan? They've got them every which way: chilled, grilled, fried--take your pick. The soups are self-serve and include miso, seafood, and egg drop--classic, comforting, and great for warming up between plates. Special shoutout to Nico, our friendly and helpful server who explained how everything works since it was our first time. Always appreciate service with a smile. We left full, happy, and with a couple of come-back cards for $3 off lunch and $5 off dinner--nice little bonus! While it may not be our go-to for sushi-only cravings, it's definitely one of the better buffets in town, and we'll absolutely be back.

Even when…read moreit's really busy, a group of 4 can be seated within 20 min and there's Hall Pass or The Bruce around to walk to if you wanna wander. The appetizers come with the hot pot and there are plenty of options to munch on while your ingredients heat up. Korean fried chicken, edamame, and gyoza are my favorites. After ordering your drinks, soup base, and meats (vegetarians get a cheaper option), you can get right to the veg/seafood buffet. They have a great sauce station and a big wall of different kinds of popular ramen packs to use if desired. Once you get settled, you can keep ordering the meats you like until you get full. I like to keep a little note of what I think of each one so I remember for next time. These are my personal opinions: 1 Mr Shabu ribeye - tender lean, best 2 oyster blade muscle - meatier but only ok 3 Mr. Shabu beef kurubi eye - chewy, wavy, not good 4 Mr. Shabu pork single rib belly - fatty, bad 5 US wagyu beef round eye - tender lean, good 6 US wagyu beef clod eye - jerky striated texture, bleh 7 Mr. Shabu beef boneless short rib - oily but in a good way, little chewy, great flavor 8 Mr. Shabu pork collar butt - fatty but comes apart easy, ok 9 Mr. Shabu lamb shoulder - no Usually if I'm playing it real safe with just two, I pick 1 and 7 :) I hope you come to try all the different flavors for yourself!

The corn cheese was pretty good actually, but the korean fried chicken was hecka dense. The meat wasn't dense, but the starchy layer on the exterior was really stiff. Didn't taste like the other korean fried chickens I've had. The mushroom beef was really salty.. and the beef itself was really tough. Next, I feel like the selection here is pretty small. There's not a lot to choose from at the bar area, though I admit that I am pretty impressed by their ramyun collection. Their crabs were literally minuscle, and I find it extraneous that they serve their noodles in bits. Yeah, you read it right: bits. They cut up their noodles, probably because it is easier to pick up with the tongs. But, is it even noodles at that point? The staff was pretty lethargic today, even though it wasn't busy at all. Took me a while to get their attention for more meats. They do have some great meat, but in my opinion, it really is a hit or miss. Stray away from the meats that start with "MR. SHABU", because they're not the best. The ones I've had were too lean or sometimes tough. However, I think the cleanliness of this place is on point: shiny tables shiny counters, and dry floors.

Found this place and ordered miso soup, salad, sashimi, and two rolls. Everything tasted fine, the service was fine, and I left. Not even halfway to the hotel, which was 20 minutes away, my head started pounding and my stomach was turning. I thought I was catching a cold, maybe being under dressed for the weather (even though had layered up). I barely made it to the parking lot and basically vomited my dinner. I then spent the next hour in the bathroom, after which I felt relieved, so in a way I was glad that I wasn't getting sick. I figured it had to be the food and after I felt better I decided to call Mint to at least let them know that maybe something was in the food so at least they might prevent this for someone else. The manager apologized for my experience and that was it. I think it was either something in the food or had remembered earlier at the dinner all the employees were in the kitchen and I guess one of the sushi chef's just adopted a dog. Everyone was saying how cute it was and petting it, which I thought nothing of at the time other than it being cute. Then because of my experience, I don't really recall that chef, who was the one serving me, ever really leaving my sight or washing his hands. Just speculation of course but hey I got food poisoning from something. And anyone that knows me, knows that I always wash my hands before a meal, especially if I've been in the field working that day. I thought of posting here, but whatever it was over with and I'm busy. The next day, I got a voicemail letting me know that they felt bad for my experience and would compliment the dinner. I thought that was a nice gesture so I returned the message and left a voicemail of my own. No response, and I tried two more times over the next week. So here we are two weeks after and I'm thinking of sharing the story or not. Maybe they thought I was grifting for a free dinner and changed their mind, so that's why they didn't call me back? Maybe no one else got sick and there was no way to prove my story other than my word. Maybe they thought because I saw the dog, I would use that as an opportunity to eat for free? I never asked for my meal to get comped, I just wanted the establishment to know so they could prevent it from happening to someone else. Again, wasn't planning on sharing this on Yelp, but this happened two weeks ago and I feel that if I didn't share my experience it would be like a tree falling in a forest, does it even make a sound or did it really happen? Yes this actually happened to me so I'm letting management know that I'm not some anonymous guy that was trying to victimize myself for a free meal.
