Catering by Bryce catered our conference for 75 people in Holladay and it was a great experience from start to finish. Delicious food, top-notch service, and fair pricing. Bryce returned my call right away and was great at getting my event on the calendar and answering my questions about guests with food allergies. After my initial call, they recommended I come in for a free sampler which was very nice since I'd never tried their food before. The food is amazing - you can visit their storefront in West Jordan to have lunch with a limited menu of their catering options ($4 entrees, $2 sides, includes a fresh roll). Their restaurant is cozy and clean and tidy, with a small seating area in the back. They do a brisk lunch business on weekdays from 11am-2pm for the local business crowds and most people pick it up and eat elsewhere. For the sampler, we tried the Buttercrumb chicken, chicken cordon Bleu, Hawaiian shredded pork, lemon chicken, rice pilaf and red roasted potatoes - our favorites were the Buttercrumb, cordon Bleu, and the pork. We also ordered lunch so we could try a few more things - the chicken enchiladas are FULL of chicken and so yummy and rich, salad was nice and fresh and the dressings were delicious, and the rolls are soft and fluffy. They have an enormous catering selection, including buffets with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options from a variety of cuisines (including prime rib, lasagna, enchiladas, salmon, taco bar, BBQ, orange chicken, etc.) and all the add-ons (drinks, desserts, side dishes) you need. All their meals are served as self-serve buffets and include disposable plates, napkins, utensils, chaffing dishes and serving utensils, so these are great for more casual setups. The table cloth they bring is a black faux-cloth plastic but is nice for easy cleanup. You can use your own linens if you prefer. The only small glitches I experienced were some funny communication mishaps - i.e. I got an email from an employee asking me to call with my credit card, and the number I called had a full voicemail so I couldn't leave a message so we played phone tag for a few days. Not a big deal. For our event, we decided to serve the Buttercrumb chicken with mashed potatoes for lunch - which was so affordable at only $8.95/person. All catering includes fresh green salad with two house-made dressings (a vinaigrette that is also gluten-free, and a delicious house ranch), and fresh-baked rolls and butter. They also provided 5 servings of gluten-free chicken in a small chafing dish clearly labeled, which my attendees told me was delicious. I also had many attendees make a special note in our conference follow-up survey that they loved the food! I appreciated the clear pricing and options on the website so I could plan ahead for our budget. They are clear about tax, delivery fee, and base order requirements. The pricing is competitive with other companies but I think they offer larger portion sizes. We had a good amount of leftovers from the main dish, side, salad, and rolls, and I was glad nobody at my event left hungry. You can also opt to pick up and save yourself the delivery fee but the service of them setting up all the chafing dishes and utensils and plates, and then coming to pick up all their dishes after is totally worth paying for. The lady (Bryce's wife) who dropped off/picked up was prompt, came back right when she said she would, and was polite and friendly. She was setting up inside the conference room and was quiet and quick, a real professional. They told me when we ordered that we could keep the leftovers so we brought dishes/Ziplocs for that. Very pleased with the level of professionalism and quality of food from Catering by Bryce. Service is awesome. they only had 3 people working and it's a very small place. They were always smiling and always happy to answer questions. The food for its price is really great. there is definitely value at this place. an entree is 4$ and sides are 2$. So you can pretty much get a yummy legit meal for 6$. Super random fun little hole in the wall. This is a catering shop, but they also serve lunch. The shop is super small, just two tables, but there is outside seating as well. It was delicious and cheap! The entrees are 4 bucks and come with a roll, sides are 2 bucks, and drinks are $1. I split the mushroom chicken w/ alfredo pasta, as well as the breaded chicken w/ herb potatoes. Both chicken dishes were really good, very juicy. I ordered my food months in advance and received a confirmation order email to follow up on the details/order. Plus I got a complement from every guest how delicious the food is. Since my university is right down the road, I love that I found out about this place. It is a catering company and that is the company's main focus. But it does have a take out corner with seats inside and outside. It has its offerings of traditional American food serving up dishes with either chicken or pork . For $4/entree including a roll, bun, or chips, it was fairly cheap as well. Their food tasted amazing, just like how mom would cook it at home with a little extra flavor. This is one of my favorite catering places in Salt Lake. I have used them a few times for big events and have been very satisfied with their food. Every time, it has been hot and ready when we picked it up. You get so much for your money. For our last event we ordered chicken cordon bleu, rice, homemade rolls, and a crisp green salad and dressing for $8.95 a person. We had several people ask us where we got the food because it was so delicious. The rolls were some of the best I've ever had. They also give you plates, napkins, utensils, and serving utensils. Truly the best kept secret in this area. The store is easy to over look cause they don't have much outside the store that screams "come on in, we offer lunch". The staff was super friendly. She helped me figure out my order and get me all taken care of. I didn't need full service catering - just the fabulous food for a party at my house for 18. We had the Tender butter crumb chicken and diced potatoes and when I mentioned it might be nice to have a sauce given the season, he provided an orange cranberry sauce that was the perfect compliment. TL; DR- Catering by Bryce is difficult to work with and deliver poor results. Do NOT use them should you find yourself seeking a catering company. Under no circumstances would I recommend Catering by Bryce. I chose to go with this company because prior to my wedding I had experience with the company and in general my experience had been good. In fact, due to my past experiences I chose to go with Catering by Bryce despite the fact they were slightly more expensive than my budgeted amount and they seemed reluctant to provide what I had originally asked for. (I ended up with french toast instead of a waffle bar). The best way to thoroughly outline my displeasure can best be noted in bullet points. First, I feel maintaining good communication with Catering by Bryce can be hard to come by. They did not return my emails, and it took several phone calls and voice messages before I was able to reach a live person. While this was not always the case, more often than not it took a lot of effort on my part to get a hold of someone from the company. In addition, despite several requests for a confirmation email after having provided my credit card via email and booked Catering by Bryce for my wedding, I never received a return email. Second, when I called to confirm my order a few days before the wedding, I learned I would not be able to receive all items requested under the originally quoted price. Had I received a confirmation email as requested, I feel this entire point never would have been an issue. Originally I had asked for food enough for 30, with a breakfast including french toast, two kinds of syrup, whipped cream, scrambled eggs, hash browns or some kind of alternate potato dish, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, water, juice, two coffee air pots, one hot water air pot, and a corresponding tea service. Two days before my wedding when I called to confirm my order, I was told for the quoted price I would not be able to receive the hash browns/alternate potato dish, tea service, and sausage. I decided to pony up for the tea service as that was all my husband had requested, but the rest I was not able to afford. Of all the disappointments I experienced with Catering by Bryce, this was probably the biggest. Had I had an accurate representation of what I would be receiving for the quoted price along with written confirmation, this could have been avoided. Third, the day of the wedding the caterers were late to the event. Breakfast was supposed to be served at 11:00 with caterers arriving around 10:50; at 11:00 AM the caterers were just barely arriving. To worry about ten minutes probably sounds like a bride-zilla sort of thing to do, but on top of the issues I was already having with Catering by Bryce it felt like one more slap in the face. Fourth, Catering by Bryce forgot the water. I only noticed this when my almost 90 year old grandmother asked for a glass of water in order to take her pain medication for a major fall that had fractured a bone in her shoulder. Imagine my embarrassment when I told my grandma there was no water. The wedding coordinators at my venue called Catering by Bryce and they did bring water, however, by the time they got there it was nearing the end of the event, just in time for them to clean up breakfast as my guests made their ways home. Fifth and finally, when I called to complain following the ceremony, their blase attitude, lack of compassion, and complete lack of understanding was staggering. The response to my complaint of unhappiness was more or less an "oh well", and that basically I was out of luck. They also were uncouth enough to let me know my credit card did not go through and that I would need to provide another. Had they actually referred to my email which contained my credit card number, they would see the fault was actually theirs; they had failed to enter the credit card number in full. Catering by Bryce offered an apology over text; had they done the adult thing and called to apologize I might have retained a bit more respect. Catering was probably the most expensive aspect of my entire wedding, and for Catering by Bryce to display such a poor performance was miserable. While I understand not everything will go perfectly or as envisioned, the difficulty of working with Catering by Bryce was ridiculous. I will say the food provided was tasty, but that's about the only accolade I can give. I would like to say I was willing to work with Catering by Bryce (see change from waffle bar to french toast breakfast; willing to give up some items and pay more for others to receive specific items for my breakfast), but I cannot say they did the same for me. Fortunately I will not let something like that ruin the wonderful memories I now have of my special day, but I would NOT recommend Catering by Bryce to anyone searching for a reliable, communicative caterer. read more
