For Tucson based sushi the rolls here were not too bad. There's a lot of tables and a sushi bar to sit so if you have a large party of people they can accommodate your group. The service was very fast and prompt and the waitress was friendly. I ordered the caterpillar roll and California roll, and my friend ordered the spicy tuna and spicy California rolls. For dessert we had mochi ice cream. Everything was really good. If it was closer I would go here more often!

I always love the sushi here it's so good especially for the price plus you get complimentary miso soup which is so yummy. The service is honestly pretty bad though, i've come here for the last like 4 years and i've never had really good service here it's more of a bring your food over to you and enjoy no one really checks in and you have to find your person to bring the check or go up front. Soo if you want delicious good priced sushi but don't really care about being waited on then go here!! It's also a pretty clean place.

Delicious sushi. Very affordable. Great service. Great, upbeat vibes, happy atmosphere. Great portion sizes!

Loved this place. The miso soup was free and they don't charge for sriracha (most places charge for both now). The server was very accommodating when we requested some of our food items to come out together. One flaw for me personally would be that some of the rolls were very large (the Vegas roll and vegetable roll kept falling apart because of how big they were) but that is just a personal preference. The California roll and salmon roll were perfect size. Overall one of the best sushi experiences I've had in Tucson lately.

First time trying this place. We were in the area and were looking for a good place to eat. We came across this restaurant, as suggested by Yelp. We were greeted right away and seated in less than a minute. The service was not super fast, but I think it was worth it. The place is a little outdated, and the decor is nothing special. I would even say it's a little dingy. We only had hot food and did not try their sushi. We liked what we had. The Donburi was a big serving, and we ended up taking half of it home.

Considered top 20 Best Restaurants in Tucson! We ordered a to go meal which was served in a timely manner. The place is spacious complete with an array of alcoholic drinks and on the side is a fridge with ice cream desserts. There's ample parking and indoor seating.

I haven't tried too many sushi places around Tucson yet, but the value of this place really blew me away. The complementary miso soup came out right when we sat down and it was both savory and delicate. They offer a variety of fascinating sushi rolls that were all delicious and the nigiri had a hefty slice of beautifully fresh fish. All of the staff was genial, which combined with the laid back environment to add to our sushi experience. We went with a few friends and everyone really enjoyed it and was more than comfortable with the discounted price. The Alaska roll proved to be a group favorite if you like a little bit of heat!

I was really craving sushi! So off to yelp I went...I searched "sushi near me" and this little gem popped up there were other more mainstream options bit I like supporting smaller businesses when i can. I called in my order and the lady was like what is your name I was like Alishia (I before A) and she pronounced it perfectly which is rear! I headed that way... 10 minutes later I was pulling up to a small building, not much to look at, but I walked in and was greeted graciously with a big smile. I said my name and she handed me the bag I paid and came back to my hotel room! When I opened the box, I was like okay basic but I kid u not it was delicious like really good! She even loaded up the ginger and Wasabi but also extra soy sauce yall know I love extra sauce...lol all in all bomb.com stop by if u are out this way you won't regret it.

Not good at all, the rice has no flavor, the seaweed salad is bitter in aftertaste and the basic rolls are overpriced

Even though there was a mixup with a duplicate order, I still enjoyed my visit. Since there were so many options, I'm only going over highlights. Favorites: Salmon Volcano, Dragon egg, Salmon Roe sashimi/nigiri, Naruto roll Salmon Volcano: (5/5) Spicy imitation crab wrapped with 4 cooked salmon slices and topped with spicy mayo and sweet eel sauce. Presented beautifully and tastes even better. Dragon egg: (4.5/5) Lots of Imitation crab wrapped with thinly sliced avocado to look like an egg and drizzled with eel sauce and spicy mayo. I mainly like this one because how it looks, the taste is decent but not exceptional. Salmon roe: (5/5) This dish is usually limited at other ayce sushi restaurants because of how expensive it is. At kintaro, it's unlimited, fresh, and you can order it without rice to enjoy more. (Order as sashimi and not nigiri) The taste is very salty and umami. I like to think of it as big caviar. Naruto roll: (4.5/5) Salmon, tuna, other fish, and avocado wrapped with cucumber served in a slightly sour sauce. It has NO rice. Honestly a good pick if you like fish but not rice. Least favorites: snow crab hand roll, fried scallops, miso soup, surf clam Snow crab hand roll: (1.5/5) I'm 90% sure there is no snow crab. It tasted like imitation crab to me. Fried scallops: (1/5) Tasted like imitation crab/fish. It lacked both the slightly chewy and springy texture of scallops and the scallop flavor. Miso soup: (3/5) Last time we were here it was loaded with tofu and seaweed but this time it was just the soup. Surf clam: (2/5) It didn't taste like anything. One issue was the service. The food took 15-30 minutes to come out per order, which was understandable due to how busy the restaurant was, but the worst part is that it came out incomplete so I couldn't tell how much of an order was left before I made a new order. The 2hr time limit doesn't help either. On top of that, our server got our old order confused with a new one so that we ended up getting duplicates of a huge order which we couldn't finish. Luckily, the manager was nice enough to not charge us for the extras if we didn't take them to go and offered us to take the leftovers for $20 if we wanted to take it to go. For the ambiance, it's pretty nice. Music loud enough to mask out the other tables and decorations on the wall. Overall the sushi was mostly fresh and the ambiance is nice, just the food comes out a little slow. I would still highly recommend kintaro.

From the time we arrived to the time we left, the staff were incredibly kind and courteous. Our server Reuben was especially great. As my sister has been here a few times already, Reuben immediately knew her choice of drink and starting appetizer. Any time he was checking in on us, he was incredibly kind and offered some very helpful recommendations. As we were being seated, my sister had mentioned offhand we were celebrating my birthday. Before we received our check when all was said and done, several of the staff took a moment to wish me happy birthday along with a slice of cheesecake! Obligated or not, it was incredibly sweet and I was truly humbled. The food itself was superb. We chose a variety of sushi rolls and each were bursting with a distinctive combination of flavors; everything from sweet and tangy to spicy with the perfect amount of bitterness. Each roll was well crafted had the presentation to match its splendid umami. I can't speak on behalf of the more busy nights but at the time of our meal, the restaurant was pulling in some steady business without feeling noisy or chaotic. Tables were clean, staff were attentive to customers and I just felt so very welcome there. Needless to say, I left Kintaro positively beaming. I'm already looking forward to my next visit which will likely be sooner than later.

The menu seems a bit more fusion than traditional but a good balance of pushing boundaries without trying too hard. We made a reservation for lunch on a Sunday but were only one of three parties. The ambiance inside is cute and cozy and I'm sure the patio is nice during the cooler months. We ordered quite a bit but our favorites definitely were the pork belly appetizer, the hafu roll, and the neo-genesis roll. I'd love to come back and try their ramen.

Walked in, immediately greeted and sat at the bar, our request. The hostess also our cocktail and beer server. Hubby had a delicious clarified cocktail which was absolutely yummy but at $18 a pop for a good four drinks and it's gone cocktail, ok. I know they take time to make. I had a $10 Sapporo draft. We then ordered two pork Bao Buns, two sushi rolls, the Shiro Maki and the Tataki Maki. Both really good, really well rolled, not an abundance of rice either. I am obsessed with Ramen, I decided to order the house Ramen, the Obon, without the Bonito flakes because I'm not a fan. Looked good when it came, I just wasn't happy with it. It lacked something, umami, a well developed broth, who knows, I just know it wasn't what I normally like. It gave me heartburn from hell too. Overall, $150 later I left somewhat dissatisfied and disappointed. For a Sunday, at noon, four tables worth of patrons. Not loud, not super quiet, nice ambiance. I doubt that I'll go back, if we do, it will be for their $22 rolls of sushi.
