There is nothing therapeutic about this massage. As a matter of fact, it was stress inducing. I called in to make an appointment and asked her how much a certain type of massage was, perfect i decided to book. Coming into the run down office suite, I made sure I brought the exact amount to pay Susie in cash plus enough for a cash tip. During the entire massage she was asking me if I wanted to upgrade my massage and add-on of Hot stones - during the ENTIRE massage I could just not relax. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. After telling her multiple times I only have $70 cash with me and I don't have enough cash to upgrade, she still persisted on asking me. So she would stop, I ended up just agreeing to add the hot stones. This felt worse than one of those non certified rubbing massage places, I did not feel she had a good understanding of anatomy or musculature. I was not relaxed at all and being very much on edge due to her begging me to upgrade my massage and multiple times I had to ask her to adjust the pressure and it was never right. It was just plain too painful or too soft where I felt like nothing was really happening. After her asking me to upgrade for nearly the entire hour. I agreed to the hot stones, whatever I guess I'll just take the extra out of her tips. The stones were her just swirling around some stones for about 5 minutes, I feel it added nothing to my relaxation, I'm not even sure they were cleaned. She spend about 3 minutes in the back just to get them out of my times session. when it came time to pay, Despite me telling her multiple times on the table and during checkout that I only had exact amount of cash for the massage session plus a tip, She charged me $90 due to the forced upgrade. I told her I only carried cash and then she insisted that I just pay her through Venmo, which I really don't like doing so I ended up paying her $90 for what I originally wanted a $60 massage and planned to leave a 20% tip. After I cleared the transaction, she stood in front of me wide eyed like, and LITERALLY ASKED ME "What about tip?" The absolute audacity! I explained to her that I asked her that before coming, while on the table and during checkout I asked her what the full and final price would be. Even after a horrible session she was still expecting a tip for a massage office that she fully owns and dictates the prices for. I felt like I was in a chop shop!! I doubt she is even licensed as a massage therapist, I should have gone to one of the massage parlors that are sketchy, it felt like the same experience. My massage was with Susie, the owner. I am never coming back and really don't understand who gave her all those good ratings. My regular masseuse was not available & I needed a massage desperately. Susie was able to squeeze me in the same day. She's located in the 1st floor of the Powerhouse Professional Center. You walk in & it's a bit confusing because there's nothing inside that tells you you're in the correct place. It was a couple of chairs against the wall, a table, an office chair, & a massage chair. The door across from where you entered looked almost like an emergency exit & I was worried I didn't find the right place. Waited a couple of minutes & Susie finally popped out & said she'd be with me as soon as the last client comes out the room & she can clean & freshen it up. Cool, no problem. So then it was my turn. She gave a great massage. Good pressure. Her style & technique was a bit fast for my liking, fast strokes & used her forearms a lot. She is strong! Worked out my knots though. She offered to add on cupping because she said it would help relieve the tension in my upper back. I told her I was scared because my brother got it done once & it left marks on his back. She then explained why that happened & talked more about the benefits of cupping. She offered to do just a sample, no charge, so I can see what it feels like. I agreed. I didn't like it haha, so she took them off & said no problem. Overall, good massage. Susie is a sweet & funny lady. I can see why other clients love her. My only feedback would maybe be to spruce up the lobby. Susie asked me what areas I had pain in and asked what types of massage I would consider. The office is quaint but had a calming and relaxing feel to it. Susie is very compassionate about her client's needs and inquires as much as she can and then tries to help as much as she can. She is seriously concerned about each and everyone of her client's. I just came back from a vacation in Hawaii, I was originally going to get a massage there but due to timing I wasn't able to. My back and shoulders were sore since I carry my 20+lb 9 month old around for long periods of time so I knew I wanted one and ended up booking one with Susie for the day after my return. Communication was flawless and easy! Susie was fully understanding of my time changes. When I arrived I was slightly lost finding the right place to go as the building is shared office spaces but I found it using the photos Susie sent. The massage room is simple, nothing fancy but who's looking at the room anyway while getting a massage face down on the table? The massage was good! I was worried I was only going to get massaged through the sheet at first as it's how this one started and because I paid a lot for a massage before ocean front in Hawaii and that was all they did wasassage me through the sheet! But thankfully that's only how this one began. A majority of massage was spent on my back (no sheet) and the lady that gave my maggage was skilled. Mid massage she began cupping, I hadn't asked for it when I booked but I didn't say anything either when she started. I guess I should have because it was a mix up that another client I guess had asked for it and she thought it was for me? So when I went to pay I gave $65 in cash + tip and she said it was supposed to be $85 for the cupping added. She called Susie and sorted it out, I was told it would be free of charge since I hadn't asked for it. I gave the lady an extra $10 since she didn't seem pleased she had done cupping for nothing. I had told Susie when she asked on the phone post massage how the cupping was and I said it was fine and it was. I honestly myself personally don't feel cupping is all that beneficial to my body but maybe it is to someone else. I would be a return customer for a massage here, with added hot stones which came free with the cupping but I would skip the cupping myself. The only thing I wished is there would have been a bit of the time spent on my feet as in past massages I've gotten it's usually been a small part of it otherwise I was pleased with the massage I received and happy to have found one where prices are very reasonable! An earlier review referred to Susie as "Susie Magic Hands", and I totally get it. I have a torn rotator cuff, so the right pressure is critical for me. She was gentle with my shoulder and applied perfect pressure for my back and legs. She has fantastic technique and communicates well during the massage to ensure a truly a relaxing experience. I am so happy that I found this place. Susie does an excellent job. Sometimes I go there for back pain and I can barely walk and I get the massage and cupping and it always relieves my pain. I always get quality Care this is a real therapeutic massage place. I really like the deep tissue massage she does on my back with her heels and her toes digging hard into my muscles.
