Loved this place! Had the absolute best flavors in the city and we deemed it our favorite! Service was great and fast and this is a pretty popular spot in the city. Environment was nice. Limited seating but there are beautiful places in the area to sit and enjoy. Can't wait to come back here!
Wow! I can see why this gelato place is so popular. The flavors are so unique and rich. We went back twice! First time I got the sesame fig and it was delicious. The sesame flavor is very light almost masked by the fig, but the fig flavor brings out such a natural sweetness and I really enjoyed it. Second time I got the yogurt passion fruit. If you like tart Vietnamese yogurt, it has that essence. It was tart fruity and overall refreshing.
Had the hazelnut ice cream per a friend's recommendation and it was excellent. Be prepared to stand in a long line. I was lucky and went earlier in the day so the line was relatively short. Staff was very friendly and quick to serve. The shop is pretty small and only fits a few people at a time so be ready to go in and out quickly. They have a QR code to link to the menu so you can see the options while waiting in line. I really liked the edible cup and both cup or cone options come with the cookie on top.
We tried Gelatoteca Suso on a recent trip to Europe and it was perhaps the best shop we visited! I was concerned that the hype would make a visit less enjoyable but the inhouse special flavors, thoughtful ambiance and efficient friendly service made the entire experience top notch! I got the best combination of Suso (double caramel with an infusion of toffee) and Bagigi peanut (pb cream filled with salted peanuts dipped in salted caramel). It was pure heaven!! The best way to celebrate the close of a hot Venetian day!
There are many culinary musts when in Italy like getting amazing pizza and pasta, but not many are absolute needs like gelato. On a hot day in Venice, there are few better ways to cool off than by stopping by Suso for some of the best gelato you can possibly find. The line was long in the busy little alley in front but went by fast as the service was quick to match. I got a marostica cone which is pistachio gelato with almonds and Amarena cherries. It was rich, creamy, and made absolutely fresh. An absolute highlight of visiting Venice and a must stop on a sunny or cloudy day alike.
Seeing this all over socials I thought it was going to be all hype. Its not. They have a great variety of flavors with a good mixture being traditional and more artisanal. I'm more traditional with my choices with my favorites being pistachio and lemon. But on one trip (yes there were many trips here) I notices one called sepa. It's a lemon/chocolate mixture of some sort. OMFG I've dreamed about it everyday since I've been back in the states. I wish Suso would open here.
**Review for Gelatoteca Suso** Rating: While vacationing in Venice during the hottest time of the year, I desperately needed something to cool me off. I stumbled upon Gelatoteca Suso and decided to treat myself to some creamy gelato. I went with the Opera gelato on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The flavor was reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher--rich, nutty, and utterly delicious. Did it actually cool me off in this sweltering heat? Not really, but it was tasty :) I'll definitely be stopping by again before I head to my next destination in Europe. If you're in Venice, Gelatoteca Suso is a must-try for any gelato lover! Welp...onto the next!
Found this amazing gelato spot thanks to Yelp. Place was very cool, great flavor selections. Staff moved long lines in an orderly fashion. Gelato was nicely displayed. Most importantly perhaps, it tasted fantastic. I'm putting this review in a few weeks after having it but I still remember the quality of the pistachio and chocolate flavors. Truly excellent!
Suso is probably the most instagram famous gelato spot in Venice so expect a line, but they do move quickly and the unique flavors are quite worth it. You can look up the flavors on their website (qr code posted right outside the shop) before you get to the front of the line to help keep it moving. I chose maybe an incompatible flavor combo- one scoop Suso (toffee/caramel) and one scoop cheescake without really thinking that they would eventually blend together, so if I ever go back I would try to choose flavors that work better together. That being said- the actual gelato was great, very creamy and delicious. There is not really anywhere nearby to sit and enjoy it though, you have to get it to go and eat while walking.

This gelato was the best gelato in Venice! The flavors were unique and the scoops were quite generous. I loves that they had their own little biscuit cookies to put in the gelato, the cones were fresh and really good too! You were allowed so many flavors! The line is so long though so if you're able to wait in it, it's definitely worth the wait. Highly recommend! read more

They have good reason to be the most reviewed gelato in Venice - it's delicious!!! I thought the Opera (hazelnut and Nutella) was out of this world. You can tell with each bite that the ingredients are fresh and wholesome. read more
Fantastic gelato located about a 5 minute walk from San Marco Plaza. The staff was very helpful and very patient as I stared at every single gelato deciding what to get. I decided to get their special gelato that consisted of caramel, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate. It was hands down THE BEST gelato I had on my trip to Venice and Milan. The texture and creaminess can't compare to any other gelatoria. read more

An amazing hidden gem of a gelateria! (It's also vegan friendly) Easily the smoothest gelato I had in Venice. There's a great variety of unique flavours including pistachio with cherry and sticky fig and the most friendly and beautiful girl behind the counter. read more

Stumbled near this place when we were nearby visiting the Rialto bridge. Their gelato is the best I had during my time in Italy. I highly recommend Cappuccino; great strong espresso flavor with swirls of milk and chocolate. The Panna Cotta and Peanut Butter Chocolate flavors are also good. We loved this place so much that we came here three days in a row, which says a lot!! Line gets moderately long at night but goes quickly. The workers also do not really rush you, they will also give you samples if you ask. Highly, highly recommend (especially Cappuccino!!). read more

With all the hype on Yelp, the gelatos are definitely delicious here! I couldn't stop consuming and wanted seconds immediately! I ordered a chocolate gelato on a cone and my husband ordered a salty pistachio with a waffle cone. He says the salty pistachio is definitely different, but a good different. We are coming back for sure before we depart Venice! read more

I am a frozen dessert fanatic so I have high standards for ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt, etc. And Suso tops the list for gelato for me. There was a bit of a line but not long and it went quickly. My family and I (of 4) were having trouble deciding and the employees were so patient, translating everything we didn't understand into English and letting us try tons of flavors. After trying several flavors, all of which were delicious, I couldn't decide which I wanted and asked the young man helping us what his favorite was. He suggested a flavor called Sepa, which is hard to explain but it's essentially chocolate (and another flavor I couldn't put my finger on) gelato with lemon fondant, mixed together to make one delicious mixture of flavors and textures. we've had gelato almost everyday during our stay in italy but this place was by far the best gelato we ever had. EVER. its a small gelato shop so i can see why people wouldn't want to come here if it was packed but when we went there was no line at all. service was terrific. they actually let you taste before you order just like in america so you actually like what you get. everything about this place was amazing. this is definitely a must go!! read more

So good, we came here two days in a row! My favorite combination is the cherry (amaretta) with the chocolate chip (stracciatella). You can get whipped cream, and they give you a complementary waffle cookie to top it all off! My husband and I traveled to Rome (where we went to Giolitti's) and Florence (where we went to Gelateria dei Neri) before our stop in Venice, and we think Suso is the best! read more

Awesome staff, good prices, a great service and a more Italian range of flavours. There are a few flavours at a premium price but worth it. We had the opera flavour, costed like €0.60 extra but was a fantastic choice! When in doubt ask for recommendations . Also love the edible wafer cup it comes in, topped with a wafer biscuit. Find it! read more

Best Gelato I've ever had. I had the Suso and Opera flavor gelato and it was amazing. The flavors of hazelnut, caramel, and perfect texture forced me to actually sit down and enjoy it. It's been a couple of months since I've had Suso and I still constantly think about it. Might be worth the flight just to go back. read more
We just happened to stumble across this ice cream parlour on our way back from dinner at 11pm, which was fab as we hadn't had any dessert. The parlour was pretty much one of a few places left open that was not a restaurant. We loved all the flavours on offer, but I stuck to the simple flavours of a scoop of hazelnut and a scoop of strawberry. I enjoyed this whilst walking back to the hotel. As we ordered a cone, we received a wafer coin on top, which was a nice touch. I thought I would go back during the day, but forgot about it and then stumbled across other ice-cream parlours, as there quite a few of them. read more

Stumbled upon this place on the way back to our hotel. To my surprise, they had legit vegan options (other than the typical strawberry and mango sorbetto flavors)! They had three other options: dark chocolate, raspberry & dark chocolate swirl, and a cherry/cream type flavor made with rice milk. I sampled the cherry and dark chocolate (both good) but ended up with a scoop of the raspberry and dark chocolate. It was sooooooo good! My husband got a non-vegan flavor: pistachio which he really liked as well. I absolutely recommend! read more

I can see why Yelp reviewers are giving this place so much praise. After getting lost in the corridors of Venice waiting for our GPS to load and update to find this this place, we were glad we did! There was a short line of about 5 people ahead of us. That gave me time to peek through and see the unique variety of flavors to choose from. The prices were reasonable for a 1 scoop, 2 scoop, specialty flavors, regular cone, waffle cone, chocolate dipped cone, cone with chocolate and nuts, or simply a cup to inhale the decently sized scoops they provide. The specialty flavors were worth the extra $. Friendly service and English speaking staff. 5 Stars for one of the best gelato I've had in Italy for a decent price w/ wonderful service. read more

This is a must visit gelato place in Venice. I loved it. Its very delicious. I chose the suso flavor which tasted like caramel and a fruiti flavor which tasted like strawberry sorbet. I paid 4.50 for two scoop and choco nut cone. Its reasonable and worth trying!! read more

Can't remember exactly which flavors I got but this place was pretty good. The presentation is great and it makes a good insta pic if that's what you're looking for. For a short simple dessert this hits the spot so if you are within the area you should stop by this place. read more

My boyfriend and I traveled to Paris, Venice and Rome over the New Year (2019). I have a love for ice cream that is unreal. I was SO excited to check out all THE BEST gelato places during our trip. I read a blog on Pinterest that said to check this place out and it did not disappoint. I had Cherries and Queso (Cherry Cheesecake) and it was the best ice cream I've ever had! I don't think I've seen a cherry cheesecake flavored ice cream before, but it's genius! Take the time to find this place and enjoy eating it while walking the streets of Venice. Suso, you get all 5 of my stars! read more

Yup, like the other reviews , this place is a MUST try. And get the Manet , it is OUT OF THIS WORLD. It is a pistachio chocolate mix, not overly sweet , extremely rich and decadent, with bits of saltiness and actual pistachio bits .... soooo goood read more
This place definitely has the best gelato in Venice. I had the 'Opera' flavor which cost a little extra but it was so creamy and delicious (with chunks of Nutella in it). It was one of my favorite gelato places (and I went to many while visiting Italy). read more
