There are long lines for this place all day, but around 9pm, it was much less crowded. We got the classic pistachio and also a dark chocolate. We were told the true test of a gelato place is the pistachio, but the dark chocolate was the highlight - intense and rich but not overly sweet. The texture was great. The cup it comes in is actually a sugar cone, but you can upgrade to a nicer cone, as well. In the case, you can also get wine by the bottle if you need a beverage! They also had some packaged biscuits and jarred sauces that you could get as gifts. Multiple locations are in the city. Cards accepted. read more

How can something so simple be such a highlight of an international trip? Walked here with friends whose tour guide cited this as one of the top gelato spots in Venice. It was crowded, and the baristas are super efficient, which is impressive given how many tourists from so many different countries they get. I only got one scoop of mint gelato, and it was HEAVENLY. Incredible gelato! Easily the best gelato we had in the entirety of our trip to Italy. We went based off a recommendation and we're so glad we did. It was so good, we got it twice and we were only in Venice for 1 night. I'm also not a big dessert or ice cream person but this was really, really good! There are two locations in Venice. We went to both locations during our trip and both locations had a line out the door. The line moves quickly though -- the longest we had to wait was maybe 15-20 minutes? Even with the wait, I would say it was worth it for some life changing gelato. All the staff were really nice and move quickly to help you as well. They have tons of flavors. First gelato experience--had to get some since every tourist was eating it on the streets! Hence, I came to the nearest top-rated spot I could find on Yelp. It's a small little shop that is open to the public. Service was quick and easy. There was a lot of business, but it was easy to get in and out. A single scoop goes for 2.5 € (collection flavors go for 3 €). A triple scoop goes for 6.5 € unless you got a collection flavor like we did. There were a lot of flavors (that you can preview on their website I just realized), and we chose three on a whim--cappuccino, marosticana, and pistachio absolute. I liked the marosticana the best. This gelato did seem denser than ice cream--as expected. It was sweeter than what I would like as a personal preference, the kind of sweet that makes me reach for water. Perhaps my experience would have changed if I had tried the other flavors or had other gelatos to compare it to. I do like how there were non-dairy options! Gelato in Italy is no comparison to the gelato in the US, which are too sugary. Suso does take card, but only for transactions for $10 euro and more. I got two flavors (the cookies and cream and the mint) in a cone and it came with the little waffle as a decoration.
