Gelato
Bryan B.

Loved this place! Had the absolute best flavors in the city and we deemed it our favorite! Service was great and fast and this is a pretty popular spot in the city. Environment was nice. Limited seating but there are beautiful places in the area to sit and enjoy. Can't wait to come back here!

Had the hazelnut ice cream per a friend's recommendation and it was excellent. Be prepared to stand in a long line. I was lucky and went earlier in the day so the line was relatively short. Staff was very friendly and quick to serve. The shop is pretty small and only fits a few people at a time so be ready to go in and out quickly. They have a QR code to link to the menu so you can see the options while waiting in line. I really liked the edible cup and both cup or cone options come with the cookie on top.

Wow! I can see why this gelato place is so popular. The flavors are so unique and rich. We went back twice! First time I got the sesame fig and it was delicious. The sesame flavor is very light almost masked by the fig, but the fig flavor brings out such a natural sweetness and I really enjoyed it. Second time I got the yogurt passion fruit. If you like tart Vietnamese yogurt, it has that essence. It was tart fruity and overall refreshing.

Friendly service! We were allowed to try several samples while trying to narrow down our choices. Landed on Olympic and Suso (I think!), the gelato lives up to the hype and was delish.

Do many tempting choices you could visit twice a day

We tried Gelatoteca Suso on a recent trip to Europe and it was perhaps the best shop we visited! I was concerned that the hype would make a visit less enjoyable but the inhouse special flavors, thoughtful ambiance and efficient friendly service made the entire experience top notch! I got the best combination of Suso (double caramel with an infusion of toffee) and Bagigi peanut (pb cream filled with salted peanuts dipped in salted caramel). It was pure heaven!! The best way to celebrate the close of a hot Venetian day!

My favorite gelato in Venice! They have unique flavors, quality ingredients and cake come cups. Line is long but it moves quickly. Enjoy!

We came to this gelato spot multiple times during our stay in Venice! So many different flavors and I love the waffle cone cup/waffle cookie with their name on it!

Fast service and the gelato was so good I almost wanted to go back for seconds. It was a nice in and out experience. I would recommend to anyone who visits.

Marostica

There are many culinary musts when in Italy like getting amazing pizza and pasta, but not many are absolute needs like gelato. On a hot day in Venice, there are few better ways to cool off than by stopping by Suso for some of the best gelato you can possibly find. The line was long in the busy little alley in front but went by fast as the service was quick to match. I got a marostica cone which is pistachio gelato with almonds and Amarena cherries. It was rich, creamy, and made absolutely fresh. An absolute highlight of visiting Venice and a must stop on a sunny or cloudy day alike.

Seeing this all over socials I thought it was going to be all hype. Its not. They have a great variety of flavors with a good mixture being traditional and more artisanal. I'm more traditional with my choices with my favorites being pistachio and lemon. But on one trip (yes there were many trips here) I notices one called sepa. It's a lemon/chocolate mixture of some sort. OMFG I've dreamed about it everyday since I've been back in the states. I wish Suso would open here.

Opera Gelato - hazelnut and cream taste like a Ferrero Rocher :)

**Review for Gelatoteca Suso** Rating: While vacationing in Venice during the hottest time of the year, I desperately needed something to cool me off. I stumbled upon Gelatoteca Suso and decided to treat myself to some creamy gelato. I went with the Opera gelato on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The flavor was reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher--rich, nutty, and utterly delicious. Did it actually cool me off in this sweltering heat? Not really, but it was tasty :) I'll definitely be stopping by again before I head to my next destination in Europe. If you're in Venice, Gelatoteca Suso is a must-try for any gelato lover! Welp...onto the next!

High quality flavors!

Found this amazing gelato spot thanks to Yelp. Place was very cool, great flavor selections. Staff moved long lines in an orderly fashion. Gelato was nicely displayed. Most importantly perhaps, it tasted fantastic. I'm putting this review in a few weeks after having it but I still remember the quality of the pistachio and chocolate flavors. Truly excellent!

Suso is probably the most instagram famous gelato spot in Venice so expect a line, but they do move quickly and the unique flavors are quite worth it. You can look up the flavors on their website (qr code posted right outside the shop) before you get to the front of the line to help keep it moving. I chose maybe an incompatible flavor combo- one scoop Suso (toffee/caramel) and one scoop cheescake without really thinking that they would eventually blend together, so if I ever go back I would try to choose flavors that work better together. That being said- the actual gelato was great, very creamy and delicious. There is not really anywhere nearby to sit and enjoy it though, you have to get it to go and eat while walking.

Excellent gelato and genuinely friendly service…read more Dennis was our server and he could not have been nicer or more helpful. I asked for recommendations and his were all on point, including the changing daily special flavor. Today's was dark chocolate and it was the best gelato we have had on this multi city Italian tour, and Venice is city #10 on this tour for us! In fact it was so good my family of four went back after dinner for a second helping and to try other flavors. We experienced the same fast and friendly service from Dennis, and the same outstanding quality and deliciousness from the gelato. Highly recommend grabbing gelato here for anybody visiting. You will not regret it!

According to our guide, he explained that this place was selected not only because it's still family owned...but in addition to organic ingredients...they've still held true to the process of making gelato, smaller batches without an excessive amount of sugar added as a preservative. I honestly can't say I've had any bad gelato since I've been in Italy. I can't say I have a super discerning palate, but if there are unique interesting flavors...that's a winner for me. My go to flavors usually include hazelnut or pistachio. At this place however, I had the ricotta cheese with honey and sesame seeds...highly recommend

So, I was super excited to stumble across this self serve gelateria close to the Rialto Bridge The shop is shiny and modern, especially in such a historic town as Venice. The staff are helpful and offer tasting of the gelato if you're not sure which flavour to choose. They haven't quite figured out using small sample cups yet, so you get a generous helping of samples They had 12 flavours on offer, a mixture of creamy gelatos and fruity sorbets. Both were amazing, especially considering they came out of machines. My fear that they'd taste like soft scoop ice cream proved unfounded. I chose a refreshing zingy tangerine sorbet and the girlfriend went for decadently luxurious vanilla They offer paper cups in 2 sizes as well as waffle cones and cups To finish off your creation, they offer a wide mix of sweet toppings, sauces and preserved fruit. Some fresh fruit might be a good addition for them to consider Payment is by weight. For our full small bowl, we paid 3.95 Euros

There were tons of flavors and even more toppings. They even had a whipped cream dispenser that was to die for. The milk flavor was especially good. I didn't care for the berry syrup(?) that I tried but my boyfriend was fond of it. The decor was really cool, everything in the store was white and everything added to the atmosphere of the store. Very clean and the employees were very nice and both spoke some english. Reasonable prices, about what I'd expect to pay a self-serve frozen yogurt place in America. Both my boyfriend's and my gelato was around €7. If I could take any piece of Italy home with me, it would be this geletaria.

The dark chocolate, oh my god, I could just eat it every day for the rest of my life. My grandchildren had the chocolate chip, the lemon and the coconut and couldn't get enough (as well as the dark chocolate)! I also had the pistachio and it was just as amazing! This is most definitely a five-star establishment, but a certain rude employee brought it down. For the first four times I went there (3 in one day!) the man working allowed me to pay for two of the larger cups (2-2 scoops) instead of four small ones. It saved me almost a Euro which was very nice of him. When I went back the fifth time I was charged individually even after telling the person how I was charged before. He was rude and unhelpful and wouldn't allow me to do that same thing and I didn't go back after that, unfortunately. I hope that you won't let one crappy employee keep you from enjoying this treasure, I just couldn't bring myself to go back after that kind of service.

It was near our hotel and had a good variety of flavors so we decided to give it a go. There isn't any seating, so we took ours over to the base of the bridge and sat on the steps by the water. This was our first Gelato experience and I must say I was tickled pink! So yummy! We both decided to get ours in cups, although there is an option to get it in a cone. We got the three scoop option, but there were smaller sizes available if wanted. Naturally, I got three different flavors (gotta take advantage of the three scoops!) - a dark chocolate, mint chip, and a cream/orange flavor that tasted just like a creamsicle. I knew I'd like the chocolate and mint regardless, but wasn't so sure about the orange flavored one. It certainly did not disappoint! My boyfriend was not as adventurous as I however, and just got a chocolate/nutella flavor. He said it was super good though. I think we both ate ours in a matter of minutes. Cost is based on size. I think it was 5 euros for each? Worth it! I am writing this review post trip. I made it a goal to try Gelato in each area I visited during this vacation including Venice, Florence, and Rome. I'd honestly have to say this Gelato stand is a gem and takes the number one spot. Definitely don't miss out!
