A trendy gelato spot amongst tourists. They got all the classics flavors as well as more modern ones. We went with the Stracietella and Pistachio in an edible cup and did enjoy them. They weren't bad by any means but I'd say there are better spots in the city. Their thin cookie was good though.
The best gelato! So many flavors to choose from with helpful staff! I was worried we might not get in before close, but the line moved quickly & the wait was well worth it.
Loved this place! Had the absolute best flavors in the city and we deemed it our favorite! Service was great and fast and this is a pretty popular spot in the city. Environment was nice. Limited seating but there are beautiful places in the area to sit and enjoy. Can't wait to come back here!
Wow! I can see why this gelato place is so popular. The flavors are so unique and rich. We went back twice! First time I got the sesame fig and it was delicious. The sesame flavor is very light almost masked by the fig, but the fig flavor brings out such a natural sweetness and I really enjoyed it. Second time I got the yogurt passion fruit. If you like tart Vietnamese yogurt, it has that essence. It was tart fruity and overall refreshing.
Had the hazelnut ice cream per a friend's recommendation and it was excellent. Be prepared to stand in a long line. I was lucky and went earlier in the day so the line was relatively short. Staff was very friendly and quick to serve. The shop is pretty small and only fits a few people at a time so be ready to go in and out quickly. They have a QR code to link to the menu so you can see the options while waiting in line. I really liked the edible cup and both cup or cone options come with the cookie on top.
We tried Gelatoteca Suso on a recent trip to Europe and it was perhaps the best shop we visited! I was concerned that the hype would make a visit less enjoyable but the inhouse special flavors, thoughtful ambiance and efficient friendly service made the entire experience top notch! I got the best combination of Suso (double caramel with an infusion of toffee) and Bagigi peanut (pb cream filled with salted peanuts dipped in salted caramel). It was pure heaven!! The best way to celebrate the close of a hot Venetian day!
My favorite gelato in Venice! They have unique flavors, quality ingredients and cake come cups. Line is long but it moves quickly. Enjoy!
Friendly service! We were allowed to try several samples while trying to narrow down our choices. Landed on Olympic and Suso (I think!), the gelato lives up to the hype and was delish.
We came to this gelato spot multiple times during our stay in Venice! So many different flavors and I love the waffle cone cup/waffle cookie with their name on it!
Fast service and the gelato was so good I almost wanted to go back for seconds. It was a nice in and out experience. I would recommend to anyone who visits.
There are many culinary musts when in Italy like getting amazing pizza and pasta, but not many are absolute needs like gelato. On a hot day in Venice, there are few better ways to cool off than by stopping by Suso for some of the best gelato you can possibly find. The line was long in the busy little alley in front but went by fast as the service was quick to match. I got a marostica cone which is pistachio gelato with almonds and Amarena cherries. It was rich, creamy, and made absolutely fresh. An absolute highlight of visiting Venice and a must stop on a sunny or cloudy day alike.
Seeing this all over socials I thought it was going to be all hype. Its not. They have a great variety of flavors with a good mixture being traditional and more artisanal. I'm more traditional with my choices with my favorites being pistachio and lemon. But on one trip (yes there were many trips here) I notices one called sepa. It's a lemon/chocolate mixture of some sort. OMFG I've dreamed about it everyday since I've been back in the states. I wish Suso would open here.
**Review for Gelatoteca Suso** Rating: While vacationing in Venice during the hottest time of the year, I desperately needed something to cool me off. I stumbled upon Gelatoteca Suso and decided to treat myself to some creamy gelato. I went with the Opera gelato on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The flavor was reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher--rich, nutty, and utterly delicious. Did it actually cool me off in this sweltering heat? Not really, but it was tasty :) I'll definitely be stopping by again before I head to my next destination in Europe. If you're in Venice, Gelatoteca Suso is a must-try for any gelato lover! Welp...onto the next!

This is the place for excellent gelato. We had the cherry pistachio and strawberry. Also, the caramel toffee and pistachio. All four were amazing! The staff clearly pointed out what was gluten free and not. They also offer gluten free cones that are stored separately and packaged individually. Hands down one of the best gelatos I've ever had. Super creamy and full of fresh flavor, no chemical's. Staff was friendly. Be prepared to wait in line when you go, because they are popular. read more
There's a lot of baked goods lined up along the windows, which was what first caught my eye. Then I realized that this is first and foremost a gelateria. Since I had made it my goal to eat gelato every single day I was in Italy, I decided to consume my daily dose here. Even on a Monday afternoon, it was very crowded and I could see that this place is very popular. After a couple of samples, I opted to go for dark chocolate to go for something more classic. The flavor was good and the texture was nice and creamy, but does not have much of a wow factor. Also the bowl shaped cone did not have the freshest texture. The service could be more cordial, even though I understand their job is stressful. Plus, they have a minimum spend to use cards, so that is a little annoying. The gelato was not bad, but perhaps I would have liked Suso more if I had tried a different flavor. read more

superb dessert after a long day of walking the narrow alleyways of Venice, I figured I'd treat myself to this, it tasted just as good as it looks, I would recommend stopping by and taking a break from the exploring to enjoy, they have so many different kinds it took longer to decide which one then to actually eat it read more

Best gelato in Venice ... Italy ... the world? Yes, probably, and possibly. As long as you're in Venezia, though, the answer is a resounding 100% "Sì" because the gelato at Gelatoteca Suso is so...so...so...so... dreamy! Put Apple maps to work to find this hidden, yet wildly popular, gelato heaven just off a small plaza near Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge). The shop is tiny, but the flavors from all-natural ingredients are huge. Manet Gelato is Suso's most famous flavor featuring Pistachios and Hazelnuts. It's great, but three other flavors I wanted more were Suso Caramel Gelato, Peanut Gelato, and tart Pomegranate Gelato. What you've just read could be the beginning of a search for the best gelato in Venice. It isn't. It is the end. Gelatoteca Suso has the best gelato in Venice. read more
I have been eating gelato throughout Italy during my vacation. From Rome to Sorrento, Tuscany, and now Venice. The ratings here were so impressive that I had to try it myself. Indeed, best gelato I've tasted while in Italy! First time only waited 5 minutes in line. After reading the reviews, I decided to get strawberry cheesecake and Tiramisu. I thought the two flavors paired well. Strawberry cheesecake was definitely the star. Wow. I was impressed. Second time there was no line. I got the strawberry cheesecake and Suso (Toffee and caramel). Still pretty awesome. I plan to get one more tonight as I leave Venice tomorrow. I will certainly miss this place. read more
Some of the best gelato in Venice can be found at this little spot near the Rialto bridge. Every flavor the eight of us tried was incredible. Nobody wanted to gamble on any place else the next night because it was so incredibly good. They also have a panettone gelato sandwich that is burned in my memory. Make this your first gelato in Venice and then spend the rest of your trip trying to beat it. It may be possible but it's surely among some of the best the city has to offer. read more
OVER RATED! So excited to see all the reviews of this place...and have to say that I've had better gelato from the Coop Supermarket (that you buy in boxes) on the island. We've tried 4 different flavors and all were sub par, at best. Definitely a place that attracts a lot of tourists, but other than the gimmick of their name branded wafer they top on your gelato, it pretty much falls short of my expectations. read more
OMGGGGGGGG. The gelato here was AH-MA-ZINGGGG. There was a long line and we instantly jumped in it. We tried multiple places for gelato and this place by far exceeded every other place in taste. I had the walnut and fig gelato and it was the best I've ever had. I wish we would have found this place a lot sooner during our trip. You will not be disappointed. read more

So I saw a t-shirt in a Venice stall the other day - it's a black t-shirt with a maze on it with three landmarks - Rialto, St. Marks and something else and on top it said, "Welcome to Venice!" Hilarious!! Gelatoteca Suso needs to be on that t-shirt as a noted LANDMARK! They built it and made it - now go find it! Once you've been there once your taste buds will lead the way thereafter!! Even me, the most directionally challenged person ever KNOWS how to get here lol!! I tell you why. Their gelato is legit!! First off, super friendly women work the counter and that line! If you're lucky there won't be one but chances are there will always be one. Fret not, these women are fast and friendly!! Flavors: OMG should be one since that's all I hear leaving the counter. You can tell which are the popular flavors since it'll be the almost empty still bin. Two days in a row the Strawberry Cheesecake has been emptied but luckily for me...today there was just enough for my serving and then some after. Quite a favorite...along with the pistachio, espresso, tiramisu and panna cotta. Peanut butter and chocolate are also very good but not my personal favorites. No worries about the calories since you're probably going to walk a half marathon trying to find this. And oh...forget the maps and hope you have google maps on ur cell or wifi for that matter - just ask any storefront employee and they will direct you which direction and bridge to walk towards for 5 minutes to get there. Legit texture, consistency and flavors!! And the cones - all made at the store too! Flavors change according to what they whip up and don't be afraid to ask for a spoonful to sample. Also you'll find that this place really packs the cone in and you get more for your euro here as compared to any other gelato place we've tried. read more
The line for this place is a bit out of control, but the gelato is pretty good. It wasn't the best we had in Italy, but it was decent. They have a lot of interesting flavors, but the most interesting were an extra few dollars per scoop, which I find ludicrous. It was our sixth gelato stop in Italy, so we didn't feel like reaching into our pockets for the extra cash. Maybe if we had, we would have been more impressed with the product. However, for the flavors we got, they weren't overly surprising or flavorful. If the line isn't too long, I'd suggest stopping by, and if you don't mind paying extra for special flavors, then I'd recommend getting those types. Otherwise, maybe it's worth passing and finding another location. read more

One of the best gelato's I've had! So many flavors to choose from, super smooth and soft, it just melts in your mouth! And of course, can't forget their personalized stamped waffle they put on every gelato. Must try in Venice!! And hellllllo!! You get to eat tasty gelato and watch the gondola's swing by, what's better than that?! And you wonder which flavors did I get? If I didn't remember wrong, it should be along the lines of Tiramisu and caffe coffee or Suso :D read more
OMG !!!! so while is was in Italy I tried A LOT of gelato and this one was definitely one of my very favorite ones ... I got white chocolate berry papaya something or other lol honestly I don't remember exactly which flavor it was but it was definitely a white chocolate something haha but I can't forget the amazing taste and that it was an unusual mix that I just sort of tried because it a sounded kind of cool!! When you go to Venice find this spot for sure .... I didn't hit this one until I was on my way back to the train station if I had gotten it sooner I would've been there several times!! read more

This is the best gelato in Italy hands down! Don't miss the opportunity to taste this delight when you're visiting Venice. There's always a line but don't worry, it goes quick. Tip: eat your gelato fast because it melts quickly and be careful with the pigeons because they want some, too!! read more

This was my favorite gelato place in Venice! I accidentally stumbled upon it while wandering the streets. I saw a long line in front and checked it out and wow most tasty gelato I had in Venice. The passion fruit flavors had real passion fruit seeds in them, and the straciatella and hazelnut were so creamy and flavorful. I went back 2 more times actually to eat more. Would recommend as a stop along your trip. read more

I read about this gelato location and knew I needed to give it a try! I first walked by and the line was out the door and winding down one of the streets. I decided to swing by about an hour later, about 430, and the line only had 3 people in it, score! Also, I was a little surprised by the size of the restaurant, it was very tiny but bustling with people. There were so many delicious choices it was tough to narrow down. I finally decided on cherry cheesecake and toffee caramel. Let. Me. Tell. You. It was AMAZING!! I would definitely wait in the line winding down the streets for that gelato again! The cherry cheesecake was the perfect amount of sweet and creamy, and plenty of cherries! The toffee caramel was the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch with toffee bits in each bite! This is a must stop when in Venice! read more

Was surprised to see a vegan gelato. I am not strictly vegan but was wonderful to try, I believe the server recommended it without the cup if strictly vegan. He was very knowledgeable about the dietary restrictions. This gelato was made of rice milk and had cherry swirls. Surprisingly creamy and rich for being made out of rice. There were also multiple vegan options and even more gelatos with dairy. Definitely recommend! read more
Huge lineup...for good reason. Very friendly staff. Patient as well, they don't have an issue explaining their many different flavours. Try a taster spoon of gelato if you're unsure. My choice was the vegan raspberry/chocolate, boooom. read more
Be prepared to stand in line, but don't be discouraged. The line moves fast! My husband and I passed by this spot after eating gelato somewhere else (see other gelato review) and decided we would come back. We stood in line for about 15 minutes and came to the front quickly. There is a minimum for card purchases, so make sure you have cash available if you're only going for one scoop. I ordered the cheesecake with cherries and the pistachio with cherries. Both were very tasty; however quickly melting. The cone and cup are standard, no frills, but the ice cream is where it's at. The flavors are more unique then other gelato shops and the quality for me, was at the top. If you don't mind waiting in line - this is a great stop to treat yourself. If you're nervous about making quick ice cream decisions with a long crowd behind you and not having a spot to sit and enjoy, maybe search for a more relaxed spot. Not going to lie, but expected a bit more from this gelato place after reading the reviews. I don't remember the name of the bottom flavour I had, but it tasted of vanilla and vaguely something else with graham cracker crumbles. It wasn't really my style, 2.5/5. HOWEVER, the top scoop I had was yogurt flavoured. This one was amazing. It tasted like yogurt; tangy, not that sweet, a bit lemony. Amazing. 5/5 My brother got the watermelon flavour, please don't get it, it tastes like kinda cheap bubblegum ice cream. 1.5/5 (unless that's your style, which then, go for it!) My mother got the vegan chocolate and the special (salted pistachio on top of... chocolate? don't remember). The vegan chocolate was amazingly chocolatey and creamy, and it's amazing they have vegan options! 4.5/5. However, the other scoop was a bit disappointing as it didn't really have that pistachio flavour we were going for or the salt. 3/5. I think you could possibly find a better place by looking around, but I'd come back to this place just for the amazing yogurt flavour! read more
I came, I saw, I conquered! Yelpers deem this gelato spot as a worthy foodie pit stop, so I made it a mission to try their gelato prior to the end of my trip. Apparently, they serve the best gelato in Venice. This place is tucked within the, at times, perplexing labyrinth of Venetian alleyways, somewhere between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. If you're fortunate, you'll just haphazardly stumble upon Suso without even trying. BTW, their gelato passes the real gelato test! **Hint: Read up on how to spot fake gelato in Italy. Ultimately, their gelato is supposedly real and it's indeed tasty. However, if you're not a big gelato fan, don't expect to jizz in your pants, because there's no wow factor. It's good for what it is! Nevertheless, when in Venice, why not give it a try? Don't forget to take a quintessential Instagram-worthy photo of your Suso cone with one of the beautiful canals in background. + Vegan and gluten free option available read more
Long line but the gelato was well worth it! The workers were super super nice and would let us try flavors without us asking! The wager was also really good and it went wel with the gelato. The gelato does melt rather quickly so definitely keep that in mind. There were a lot of people taking a photo by the water and their gelato was dripping down their hands hahaha Must go if you're in the area! read more

Delicious, creamy gelato for a great price! We tried about 5 different gelato places while in Venice and this was definitely my favorite. All the flavors were nice and creamy and had good flavor. I opted for the salted pistachio and hazelnut which was so so good. I love pistachio and hazelnut and with the hint of salt it was perfect. They also sell pistachio butter for 4 euros!!! Definitely a steal, however I think they hand package it and mine had 105mL so they took it up at TSA because I was carrying-on so beware and look at the mL at the bottom. I'm so sad it didn't make it home with me, I was so excited to eat it with some bread and strawberries. read more

I knew about this gelateria on cursory research for "best gelato in Venice", but I accidentally came across it while wandering around the back alleys of Venice. If a gelateria (or any food business for the matter) has a long line, chances are what they serve is good. The line went by quickly and I was served within 5-10 minutes of falling in line. This gelateria easily passes the gelato test. Lots of natural flavors, no excessive coloring and gelato is dense (not stacked excessively high). Gelato can be purchased in a cup (regular or waffle cup) or cone (regular or chocolate). I got one of their premium gelatos, the Manet (€2.20). This is a combination of pistachio and gianduia, chocolate flavored with hazelnut. I usually get pistachio/hazelnut combinations as hazelnut is a common flavor and pistachio is one of the most expensive flavors to produce, which can say a lot about a gelateria's quality. While I enjoyed my gelato the hazelnut flavor is stronger than the pistachio. I've also been spoiled by a gelato I can find back home, which has the perfect synergy of nut flavors and is considered my gold standard for all gelato. read more

When in Italy, you must have GELATO, not once, but everyday. :) This place is my second favorite gelato place in Italy, and the best in Venice! Go try this place if you're in Venice!!!!! And try it multiple times because the other places aren't as good as this place. This place is almost impossible to find, you got to walk through small alleys to find this place! This is a super small shop and they have a 10 euro card minimum. I loved the pistachio with tiramisu flavor. Their fruity gelatos are also amazing. The waffle chip and the edible cup complement the gelato soooo well! HIghly recommend this place! read more
