The space is bright, more like a lab feel than a spa. This was my first time here and my first Microdermabrasion. Megan did my facial and she did a wonderful job. She was prompt, thorough and informative. Her professionalism and service level were superb. We started off with a consultation to discuss the process and my specific needs. From there she mixed up a custom serum and massaged it over my face and neck. She then used a diamond Microdermabrasion pen. We finished up with a 10 minute LED light treatment. Upon arrival, my fabulous esthetician Kristin, customized my facial according to my skin's needs. Not only was she enjoyable to chat with, but also extremely knowledgeable about product ingredients and skin-types. I left relaxed with my skin hydrated, smooth and glowing! I was so relaxed I forgot my complimentary and customized skin serum (which the owner personally curated!), so the wonderful owner was kind enough to send it to me via snailmail. Ok so let me start by saying I have pretty good skin. I never break out, it's relatively plump and bright, like, I'm blessed. Now last week, for some unknown reason my ENTIRE face broke out horribly. I have white heads everywhere and it was incredibly red. I was mortified and had no idea what was happening. Luckily there was a gilt city for Sutro so I bought it and was able to get an appointment for the very next day. First of all, the location is pretty low frills. It's just one room so if you're a "spa" person you may be turned off. However my technician was SO SWEET! She immediately greeted me and asked me about my concerns. Once she saw my skin she said she knew exactly what to do and went to work. The facial itself was lovely and relaxing. She didn't talk too much but kept me informed as to what was going on. At the end she sold me some serum to take home and told me to wait a a day or so for it to clear up. I may see another purge then my skin would be fine. OMG SHE WAS SO RIGHT! Two days later and my skin is back to normal. No bumps, no redness, no white heads!! Sutro knows their stuff!! read more

I really wanted to write a review for this place because of the impeccable service I received and I think that it needs more reviews for others to give it a go. There are a couple of things that you should know though because there are some things you wouldn't know just by looking at the website. Appointment: I had no problems making an appointment through the phone. They confirmed my contact details and I received an email and text message promptly. I also got a reminder text a couple of hours before the appointment. Thumbs up for that. Location: Blink and you might miss it because it's nestled between some drab looking businesses and you wouldn't expect it to be there. It looks like the one clean/bright business on the block. Space: Okay so the space is really small! I actually thought it would be much bigger but it was reception/display/facial area all in one. Doesn't matter though, for privacy they lock the door and pull down the blinds and it's really really clean! Service: I got my eyelashes done and here's where I had a bit of an issue. I think the lashes were actually a lot thinner than I'm used to so even though I got 100 lashes per eye it wasn't as dramatic as I had hoped. They have a 200/eye option which I might try out next time. Natasha was warm, precise and did a good job but I'm not sure that the lashes were suited for me. If you have naturally lush lashes you should definitely give it a go, my puny straight Asian lashes need a bit more oomph. read more

So-so experience. This feels like a more gimmicky version of the proper facial + LED light experience you'd get at spas. If you want to get regular LEDs (i.e. 3+/ month), a subscription here may be worth it. Otherwise, you're better off getting facials at a more technical esthetician's studio or at a spa. read more

Got the microdermabrasion with LED light (purchased it from Groupon) and absolutely loved it! The store is really cute and modern, with a lot of really cool products to try out and buy. I have been getting eyelash extensions here for about 8 months and I love them. Natacha is super helpful in curating the right "look" for you, a process that can seem daunting if you're not used to getting eyelash extensions. I've tried eyelash extensions at other places before and they have felt fake, or stiff. These lashes are soft and light and natural. I go to Natacha because she is really accommodating with scheduling and, like I said, very knowledgable in what she does. I have recommended this place to all my friends and everyone always raves about the lashes. I'm trying microdermabrasion next week and can't wait! read more

I really needed a beauty boost and wanted my lashes done...so I decided to check out Sutro and was thankfully able to see Natasha who was really nice and kind and super pretty !! Which I love! The place is very clean and chic and has great face products in general and they do lots of different betterment in there. However were my lashes are looking fabulous!! I left it up to her which lashes to do and all I can say is these lashes they are making my baby blue/ greens stand out!! I love that these lashes just complete my look! I was a bit skeptical, but was having chronic acne that just wouldn't go away so was willing to try anything. I regret having to write this, as Natacha who works at this place is wonderful but the owner sadly, is not! DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTS HERE! I was sold an Atomizer, which they seem to be trying to get rid of, as the price was half what it had been, but she had used one on me, and it seemed like a good way to keep my face moist on the plane. They were not surprised when I said it did not work. I was told I would be given a refund, but now suddenly the owner says he won't issue a refund. I spent $40 for a piece of plastic crap. I will never go back & I will report to my credit card company. I had send him clients, but now I will caution everyone against it. Just got a peel with Joanie. I was nervous with it being my first peel. She led me thru the service and calmed my nerves. We picked a peel that would help with sun damage but wasn't super strong - just right for me. My skin felt so good and was def brighter afterwards. I'm going back in a month. I went to Sutro Lab right after they opened their spot in Nob Hill, for a gentlemen's facial. I didn't know what to expect, since the services were advertised as "the advanced facial". But that's exactly what it was!! I was impressed with the very modern equipment (like for microdermabrasion, and the LED light therapy), and with the fancy mask and serums.
