Very happy with my new style. Over the last few months, I've been consistent with Daniella doing my hair and it's been exciting to watch her skill level shine. She is so conscientious and takes her time. With newly acquired knowledge, she took the time to nicely blow out my hair, leaving it looking great. I graduated from Sutter Beauty College in 2010 and I highly recommended it for perspective students. All of the instructors are very knowledgeable and really prepare for for state board! Of all the beauty schools that I looked at I was so fortunate I chose Sutter beauty college, because I learned a lot! As far as the service from the students.. remember it is a SCHOOL, and they are there to learn. If you are looking for a perfect up do, or color service etc, you should probably pay the price and go to someone more experienced. I will say from experience though that some things take practice-- but the instructors are always there to help and guide the students through any type of service.. That's how we learn . read more

The students are very skilled and have proper oversight from the educators during the processes. The students are very friendly and professional. Those students that are now working on clients are busy with styling heads practicing skills. The educators are friendly, polite, professional, and attentive. I am being asked if I'm happy, and greeted with smiles at every turn. The school is clean and well lit, it's a comfortable and pleasant environment. Chatting with students while I wait for my hair to process, I have found them to be happy and very excited to graduate and begin their careers. In all honesty, the services I have received are awesome. My daughter is looking to attend cosmetology school, I think this would be the perfect fit. read more

If I could give Zero stars I Absolutely would! This was the Worst hair style I've ever paid for! I asked for a wedding style updo with a braid across the top of the curled up bun.. Instead I was given 2 poor girls that not only didn't know where to start.. But had absolutely No clue whatsoever of what they were doing.. Said they had never even been taught how to do any of what I had asked for... I understand they are students but even the instructors kept telling them how great they were doing and how wonderful it looked! It didn't look wonderful and they didn't do a good job! I paid 20 $, couldn't bring myself to tip and left with Hideous hair and a bloody scalp from all the Bobbie pins they literally gouged across every part of my scalp.. Words of wisdom, spend more.. Get what u want.. This place is a Joke!!! read more

I LOVE this place. I'm always wanting to support places -- especially students in training. I have gotten haircuts in the past, but the amount of time they put into asking if the haircut is okay and shampooing it along with drying it is outstanding. The cut was fantastic. You cannot beat a $5 haircut! Love, love, love this place. read more

Wow, just wow. This place. My sister and I came in here yesterday to get updo's as a trial for my wedding in October, bad move on our part. When the 2 girls that were assigned to my sister and I came over, I knew I should have spoken up and asked for someone else, neither had confidence or an air about them that said, "I got this". We proceeded to their stations, my sister and I are separated at this point. So the gal that is assigned to doing my hair is nice but is absolutely clueless. I show her a picture of what I want and even a few other examples of the braid I want on the top, she manages the braid but it is completely tight to my head and started in the middle of my forehead not the side so I asked her to start it closer to the side and make it looser like the picture. She moves it over but it is still so tight it looks awful. So after this point the girl has zero clue on how to proceed; no clue at all, and as time goes on I've learned that this girl is graduating in October and going to be on her own to do hair. I know at this point it will not turn out like I wanted and had very little hope at all that it would even look good. Long story short, Luckily another gal (thank goodness because it had already been an hour and a 15 minutes and I only had a horrible braid and 2 pony tails in the back of my head) comes over actually looks at the picture I kept trying to show the first girl and starts helping, well actually taking over (thank goodness for the nice blonde girl that drives in from Natomas) Low and behold the braid has to be redone cause it looks like garbage and isn't even the right braid. So after 2 hours and 30 minutes I left with hair that I was so embarrassed to run my last errand with so I went back to my sisters and took every last Bobby pin out of my hair, shook it out and pined it back myself, then my hair looked semi decent. I am all about giving chances to people learning but wow just wow. It was also frustrating that there were 3 to 4 girl at the station next to us flat ironing each others hair and laughing, having a grand olé time while the first girl has no clue, there was not a sense of teamwork until the blonde from Natomas offered to help. So low and behold I have no clue if the hair style for my wedding is the one because it did not look anything like it at all. read more

I GIVE SUTTER BEAUTY COLLEGE 10 STARS!!! I really enjoy the atmosphere and the way the staff cares for the clients and the students. I also love the way the whole school is a close knit "family". I have been attending this school for 7 months now. In the past I attended a couple of other trade schools to only find that cosmetology is where my passion has always been. I am no spring chicken I have done a lot in my years and I really want to do something I LOVE to do while having that rewarding feeling I get when someone sees their new do! Before I signed up for Sutter beauty college I toured Paul Mitchell and a couple of other high dollar establishments only to find that, it was a very pretty building, the atmosphere was undesirable, I was starting to feel that all places for beauty school was going to be a challenging struggle to maintain a positive attitude. The moment I walked in to Sutter Beauty College I felt accepted and a wave of positive energy rushed through out the building. The student were complementing each others progress with smiles and wonderful words. I knew I found the school for me! I was pleasantly surprised at the price difference. WOW was I going to save some money! They take Financial aid and I did not have to take a loan out for $30,000.00! Whoo Hooo, my excitement soared! The teachers really go out of there way to make sure your comfortable and understand the whole not just the little. I also really enjoy the structure and stability the school provides for their student and faculty! Don't just take my word for it, If you're looking for an awesome school to attend or a wonderful set of men and women to give you the change in look you have been wanting or just a quick trim come to Sutter Beauty College and let us show you how passionate and knowledgeable we are! Isabel recently did an awesome job on my updo. I was planning to attend a wedding and after spending a lot of money on evening wear for my entire family, I wanted a low cost way of doing my hair. Sutter Beauty college came to my mind because I know students are learning so they will take extra care in doing my hair. I will be going back for sure. It's friendly, budget friendly and local. Okay so not the best place to go to. I went with my family and thought I'd give it another go because I haven't been there in awhile. We walked in an the ppl at the counter were really nice. Once I was called up to get my hair done I went to my ladies station (not sure what her name is she never told me). I had paid for a wash and cut and the girl for some reason had no clue that she was supposed do both considering she had asked me what I wanted to pay for. After informing her that I had paid for a wash and a cut, she asked me if I wanted my hair washed before or after she cut it. I said before and she looked surprised like that was something that's never been asked before. After washing my hair we went back to her station where she told me she had to get her instructor before she could start cutting my hair. The instructor told her to start by taking 2 inches off an then see if I would like it shorter. The instructor walked away and the girl preceded to cut twice as much off than what her instructor had told her and then told me she doesn't listen to what they tell her because she does what she wants. As normal before moving to the next step you have to get the instructor to approve of what u have just done. The girl informs the instructor that she needed her and then because the instructor didn't come immediately she started complaining about the instructor. During this time she began tellin me about her marriage (that she apparently didn't enjoy) and my fiancée an I had just finished talking when she told me that I sound like an will be soon be calling my fiancée a jackass and dumbass like he is. Then my fiancée comes over to look at the haircut a lil bit later and days oh wow babe got more off than I thought u were an laughed and the girl told him well ur just a typical guy. Finally the instructor got our station but was interrupted by someone who was getting their dyed(which was fine by me considering her hair was now 3 different colors) by the person cutting my hair was highly mad that the instructor had stop for a mere 2 minutes. During all of the time my hair was getting cut an styled I kept getting thumped in the back of head by the hairdresser. Not once was their an apology givin to me. I am so disappointed in how I was treated an I'm really not sure I want to return again. The rudeness of my hair dresser was completely beyond me. read more

As a recent student at this school, I would tell you to look at all other possibilities before you come here. You get what you pay for at this school. My experience at this beauty school was horrific. It is very unproffessional. My personal information was disclosed from instructors to other students. They yell, scream treat every one like little kids. This is college!! They make all these rules as they go. And it is a family ran school. And the few that are not family also have family working at the school And if you ever have a problem they will side against you because they are family. I would not recommend this school to anyone. The instructors all are very young. A lot of them just graduated from the school, meaning they have no real life experience in a salon. The education you get here is sad. I made a huge mistake by chosing Sutter beauty college. I would give anything to go back And spend the extra money to go elsewhere. Also want to mention, they are very nice to you until you sign up, then you are just a number, the treatment I recieved at this school is unbelievable. I wouldnt treat my dog the way they treat the students ( like $&;?!). Just look else where, And talk to other students at this school before enrolling. Its not worth it. I waisted so much time all for a crappy education And total disrespect from instructors. read more
