If you live in Marin and your primary care doctor is with the Sutter system, it might seem like a better idea to go to a hospital where they can access your records--which Marin General cannot. Their computers cannot communicate w/ the Sutter System. I recently made the mistake of requesting Novato Community over pressing for 911 to take me into the city for Pacific Campus. BIG MISTAKE. The ER personnel and the hospitalist on duty were all openly hostile. Hey! I can't help it if I have a lymphoma which from time to time make breathing difficult to impossible. I am also mobility impaired w/ multiple medical challenges and have been hospitalized 3 - 5 days out each of the last 6 months. So I know the drill. The best practices these days call for getting thee patient stabile and comfortable before hitting them with endless standard operating procedure questions. Unfortunately, way out there in the boondocks, Novato Community hasn't heard bout best practices and are determined to harass patients with moronic surveys and heaven-knows-what BEFORE they will allow anything for pain control. Novato Community firmly believes their bureaucratic procedures have a higher priority than patient care. It is all about "This is how we do it here." If you resist, they withhold your pain meds. These are not good people. In short, admission was an extended nightmare that took over 8 hours! There is no excuse for such inhumane treatment. If you are a Sutter patient, insist that 911 take you to a Sutter hospital in the city.

"People will not remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel." -Maya…read moreAngelou This review is for my Saturday afternoon visit to the Emergency Department. I was in excruciating pain. My husband drove me to the er. He couldn't come in with me because our little dog Max needed to be watched so they sat in the car while I went in alone. Check in and triage went smoothly. I especially appreciated the acknowledgment I was sweating and in pain - that someone would take me back soon and to breathe slowly. I sat in that wheelchair terrified what was happening. When I was wheeled back, I met Dr Kimberly Schrage. She examined me, took a photo, sent it to OB/GYN, a doctor from that department came to examine me, they spoke and then sent me off to get a CT scan. Another exam. Then the diagnosis. I was being referred to Gynecological Oncology. I was in pain, scared, and alone. The exact words I was told are understandably fuzzy but what I do remember is how kind everyone I encountered was. Whether I was being wheeled in the bed to get the CT scan, signing for my take home meds, or someone coming in to bring me a commode - everyone treated me with kindness. My ER doctor, Dr Schrage, offered to hold my hand and whispered I can squeeze it as hard as needed while the Gynecologist Dr Brookhart was examining me. She was proactive sending a message to oncology so that my issue could be addressed expeditiously. The doctors said goodbye and wished me well. Next day, the Gynecology Oncologist phoned me. It was Sunday. He called me at home on his day off after reviewing the referral and notes from my Saturday visit to the ER. Impressive. I had a negative experience with a surgeon at this location which made me nervous to go to the ER. I am glad I went scared because my issue was an emergency and everyone who helped me that day was exceptionally kind and professional while performing their important roles. I am grateful to everyone for this positive experience in my moment of great need - especially Dr Schrage. Based on this visit would I continue my Kaiser coverage? YES. I've been a member over 30 years. Based on this visit would I recommend Kaiser to family and friends? YES. The quality of care, coordinated centralized depaptment and electronic access to my medical information are excellent. Based on this visit would I recommend Dr. Schrage? ABSOLUTELY. Compassionate skilled care is what I seek and she delivered even more than I sought. I will never forget the way Dr Schrage, Dr Brookhart, and everyone I interacted with that day made me feel. I am thankful. Five stars for perfection.

This is for the mammogram and vaccination areas of this facility…read more Mammogram. Have to. Early detection can literally save your life. I am having a lot of pain with my implants which makes the idea of enduring the pressing plates terrifying. My technician was really gentle, took the time to position me so I wasn't straining too much, and she got the images needed. When you tell people you're in pain/hurting and they make accommodations for you, that kind of compassion is wonderful. Vaccinations. Have to. I need to do a number of vaccinations (Over50, you need the two part shingles vaccine) the vaccination nurse helped me space out my vaccines so I didn't feel like I got ran over by a truck that night. She made sure I was well informed what was ordered that I was getting, why, and how often I would need to repeat if at all. Sore arms, going back for more, really pleasant and informative appointment. Kaiser Marin takes some getting used to. Kaiser Daly City, South City, and San Francisco have it down. Obviously my vibe vibes with theirs. Kaiser Marin - different locations, the style of the doctors, nurses, and technicians. But on the whole, it's been good. I had one really terrible experience with a really unprofessional, rude, cruel surgeon a few years ago. Everyone else has been great. I am really happy. Fiver.
