I never have any issues at this hospital. It was the hospital that saved me and diagnosed my sickness. All the doctors and staff I've encountered here have all been so nice and welcoming to me whenever I've had a stay in the ER/Hospital. I had a procedure a few months ago, to figure a couple symptoms I had been having to clear up any assumptions. Amy did insurances. Alison did all my pre procedure work up. John was my post procedure nurse. A few others helped me, and I won't disclose the Doctor that did the surgery, because I don't want all my business out there. This is for the imaging department. I believe it was Keira to schedule imaging appointments, unfortunately I've already forgotten her name, who's been very helpful. Unfortunately my primary care has been going back and forth about what type of imaging I needed. They've been confusing the imaging techs on which correct 9rocedure to use for the MRI. It's been months with myself and image scheduling calling my PCP. Finally today we were able to schedule an appointment. We recently had to take my mom to the ER and got the pleasure of being treated at the Emergency Room by the physician assistant Diana T. , and I was blown away by the exceptional care my mom received from her! She was efficient and attentive, quickly assessing my mom's condition and getting her the care she needed. And the angel without the wings, our registered nurse Sharon L, was extremely helpful, kind, empathetic, and took the time to explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. They both were very knowledgeable and skilled, providing top-notch care for my mom. Sharon made my mom feel comfortable and treated her like she was her own daughter. That's priceless. Sharon was so warm and welcoming, making a stressful situation much more manageable. I can't describe how grateful I am for everything they have done for my mom. The other day, I had to visit the ER after severely lacerating my finger. I was shocked by how much I was bleeding and was feeling extremely anxious and nervous. From the moment I arrived, the staff at Sutter Health ER were kind, compassionate, and attentive. A special thank you to Nurse Delwin, who went above and beyond. He took great care in cleaning my finger and the blood that had gotten all over me. He also made sure to keep me calm by talking about other things and keeping my mind off the injury. We (and bunches of other patients) spent 11 hours at Sutter Tracy Community waiting for ER services yesterday, after my 82 year old father's physician instructed us to bring him there to be admitted. Overall, I would give the ER staff (admitting, radiology, lab, ER nurses and PA Diana) a 5-star rating . All were hard-working and wonderful in this overcrowded hospital (Tracy has grown exponentially...they need a hospital sized to accommodate this growing population). With that said, I would give ER Dr Steven DeFord negative stars, if possible. We actually never met with/saw him personally (just his hard-working staff). After spending 11 hours in the ER with my 82 year old, immobile father, Dr DeFord made the decision (and would not budge on his stance) to discharge him at midnight. This decision came after staff recommended Dad enter a skilled nursing facility to receive and recover from needed wound care (as well as address other health issues he's experiencing), then transition him to home care due to mobility difficulties. ER staff had already inserted IV and began prep for admission. We left the ER not knowing much more (and receiving minimal care) than we had upon our arrival. I now get to start the process from scratch today to get my dad the care he needs to address his health issues. It was dangerous getting my elderly, unwell Dad out in the 40 degree midnight temps and leaving me to physically get my 6ft/ 250+ lb Dad back into the car and home. Dr DeFord apparently felt it perfectly safe to put my father through this at midnight after his long, physically painful day. I was told by staff members that this is typical practice for this Doctor, but "nothing happens because not enough folks complain". I'm making my voice heard to bring attention to this. I'd never wish for any other family to have to go through what we just did. Quite disappointing. read more

This is the second time I've made the same mistake of visiting this facility. While I understand that it's the closest to my home, it doesn't negate the fact that this place is terrible. The hospital is understaffed, and the ones who do work here seem indifferent to the patients' well-being. After an ER visit when they discharged, they wouldn't even remove the cables and stuff , guess I was supposed to pull those off myself If possible, I strongly advise against visiting this place. For the last two years, I regularly had appointments at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. The people who greet you at the front desk when you arrive are fantastic! They are very polite, positive, and encouraging. They are an excellent first impression of this Hospital! I received treatments from Wound Care from 2023-2025 each week until finishing up in July of 2025. They do an incredible job and should be commended for the outstanding work that they do on a daily basis! They treated me with great care and got me through a difficult time with my wound treatment. I will never forget them and I appreciate everything that they did for me! During the early hours of the morning on May 24th, 2025, I arrived at Sutter Tracy Emergency Room to be seen. I was seen by the Triage Nurse right away. One of my Chief Complaints that I shared when I checked in with Patient Access/Registration and with the Triage Nurse was that I was nauseated. During my ER visit, I submitted a urine sample, blood sample/lab work and had a CT scan. After all my results from my work up were available and reviewed, Dr. Bailey discussed the findings and the treatment plan. The only medication I was given at the hospital was Magnesium Citrate and Zofran. I was discharged. On June 2nd, I had an appointment with my Primary Care Physician for an unrelated matter. During my appointment with my PCP, she noticed my lab work from my ER visit on 05/24/2025 and she expressed shock and concern when she saw my Potassium Level was low and started explaining the dangers of having low Potassium. I told my PCP that no one at Sutter Tracy; not my nurse or Dr. Bailey told me anything about my Potassium being low nor was I given any medication to manage/raise my Potassium Level. Keep in mind that nausea is one of the symptoms of Low Potassium. Accompanied with my lab results, the Low Potassium should have been detected, discussed, and treated. But instead, I was never informed and my serious condition was left untreated and I was unaware. This situation could have ended horribly!!! read more

ER from check in at approx 1235ish pm til ALMOST bein DC 205a... YES, the following day and still currently waiting for papers and answers.. while I kno and understand that ER wait times can vary and be quite lengthy.. this visit seemed ridiculously and un necessarily long. While few staff was attentive and friendly, or tried to be, what I felt was un acceptable is no clear discussion about my Father's blood work that was done and the results of alarming results. I had to ask about it to the next shift who came on during the visit who was quite surprised themselves we hadn't been spoken to about the particular tests I questioned. And secondly, knowing a blood transfusion was needed ASSP and staff being notified at 1635 by blood bank yet having to ask for updates not once but twice only to FINALLY get the FIRST of TWO units at 1837 and the nurse walkin in with the slip like " sorry im like wheres the bloood whats goin on" but it had been ready since two hrs ago?! Make that make sense pls. My Father was advised to come in due to hypotension despite the pain he was havin with any movement and was told he'd he be DC after BP was stabilized (which it presented to be for just a little bit in and quite a few hours now) and received the blood transfusions... over 12 hrs later, still waiting for A doctor....and his nurse. It gets busy, crazy and hectic I get it but clearly there was a lot of sensitivity and discomfort in this room from their pt here, yet no sense of urgency was taken esp with the needed blood. Pain level of 8, severe crohn's flareup and they left me in the waiting room for five hours. I'm having a friend get me and take me to Pleasanton. I've dealt with this disease for 25 years, and it requires me to go to an HR every so often. I will never be going back to this hospital I went in for an emergency appendectomy surgery that was done by surgeon Dr Philip Ding after my surgery I was sent home with no antibiotics even though my appendix burst as I was going into surgery after 2 days I noticed bad bruising and was in allot of pain I had called my surgeon who did my surgery several times explaining my issues and he told me I was fine.... 2 days later It was worse so I went back in I ended up having sepsis and internal bleeding so I was admitted to the icu and to say the least it was the worst 10 days of my life the care at this hospital was terrible I would call the nurses for help to get to the bathroom or because I was in pain and they would take at most an hour to come. The nurses were rude to me and always had attitude like I was a burden to them even tho it's there job to take care of me one of the days my iv had came out my arm so they had to put a new one in my arm and the nurse tried 3 different places in my arm before she got frustrated and gave up and left me bleeding in my bed before a new nurse came 3 hours later and luckily put the iv in correctly the first time, they also didn't change my sheets for the first 3 days either. Now the dr and surgeon that had to step up to the plate since Dr Dings vacation was more important then his patient who was sick due to his mistakes were helpful for the most part they decided to put a bag in my side to drain the 2 in a half liters of blood out of my body but only ended up draining not even 1 liter but it did help ,once I was doing better and my blood levels were back to almost normal I was able to escape that hell hole of a hospital. Now it was really upsetting because with the surgeon making these mistakes and the nurses terrible care I did reach out to there patient relation representative department but they just told me they looked over it and they thought it was okay which doesn't surprise me because sutter loves to tuck these kind of situations under the rug iv reached out to other people in our Tracy community and I'm not the first person who has had bad complications from Dr Ding and I probably won't be the last since I'm sure he's gonna get away with this just like the others, it's unfortunate that our community can't have good care at our local hospital and have to go to another town because we want to be treated with care. As I did recover thankfully from this situation I still have health issues I'm trying to get under control from this situation which is unfortunate please if you have a loved one that is considering going to this place research and check reviews because I would hate to see another person in my boat let alone be in a worse situation then me. read more

Absolutely horrible. We came in for my MIL who is a cardiac patient having active symptoms for a female patient and they took over 30 mins to see her in triage and do her EKG. Then had her wait in the waiting room for over 2 hours, no lab draws , nothing for 2 hours. I had to call the house supervisor twice. I understand the ER is at max capacity, all ERs in our area are at max capacity. But per NIHSS and Joint Commission, symptomatic cardiac patients should be evaluated within 20-40mins. There are time sensitive life-saving medications that need to be administered for certain diagnosis. This was horrible. We left and went to another hospital, 30 mins away to confirm she in fact was having an active heart attack. Thank you Sutter Tracy for delaying her care. It's sad to know that this town's only ER takes suck lack of seriousness for its community read more

I have had 6 to 8 incidences with my house mates having serious issues such as heart attacks and respiratory failures and the staff at the hospital have been absolutely first class in dealing with their medical issues. This review is solely for the emergency room, as I am unfamiliar with how the service is for the hospital side of things. I want to start off by saying thank you to Sutter Emergency and the doctors and nurses, and even the security guards and receptionists. I imagine that what they do is not easy by any means, and they do a good job of diagnosing you well, in my personal experience. That being said, I think there is something structurally and fundamentally wrong with the organizational aspect of the emergency room, and because of this it does not run as efficient as it needs to run for an emergency room that it's purpose is to provide the community with comfort and faith. My wife and I came in at 4 am and it's now 9:30am and we were told since 6 am that a room would "be available soon," hence one reason why I'm writing this review. Some examples of what I mean by lack of organization include: 1. A nurse comes out to the lobby, calls someone's name, and the receptionist says, "Oh that person is already back there." Lack of communication that wastes time. The last time I was here, this happened multiple times. 2. Can they have a person to check on patients to see how they are holding up? Perhaps offer some bottled water? Would be nice if they at least showed they cared. There were three ladies at the reception earlier today enjoying their time, which is refreshing to see in an emergency room, but I'm sure one of them could come to the lobby and do the suggested above. Takes no more than 5 minutes and somewhat assures people they haven't been forgotten. 3. What is this system they have going on where just one person is in charge of obtaining guest information, (ie. blood pressure, temp). If this nurse needs backup, can someone jump on another monitor for 5 minutes and get the line moving? 4. After experiencing today and reading some of the reviews here, I think the biggest problem is a lack of transparency. If there was a system created where patients could get an ESTIMATE of how long they would have to wait in the emergency room, they would be much happier. Even if they have to highball it. Tell them it's going to be 5 hours but in reality it'll be closer to 4, then no problem. Could there be a button the doctor pushes to let the receptionist know in front that it'll be about another 30 minutes for a patient whom he/she has confirmed is good to be released? The fact is that the reply from the receptionist of "I don't know" isn't only not good enough, it's not believable. Again, it's probably not their fault, but this is why I believe something is going on at the core of this emergency room. Thank you read more

It is absolutely ridiculous to have sick people waiting for up to six hours in the waiting room due to a lack of staffing and no beds available in the emergency room. My father in law is 91 years old, with chest discomfort, he hasn't eaten since breakfast, and he still has to wait to be seen and examined by the doctor. It is now 8:50 pm, got here at 2:00 pm. There were many others who experienced the same service waiting due to insufficient staffing in the emergency room. The city of Tracy is growing immensely, but our hospital system and staffing are stuck in the 70's. The hospital is too small for a city that is growing at the rate we are now experiencing. Hopefully, in the near future, there will be some upgrades and an increase in staffing. People are threatening to find another hospital, which means they will have to travel to another city. In essence, that resolve is Tracy Sutter Hospital and the city of Tracy, losing money. Also, it gives the appearance that we can't take care of our sick and elderly. WE NEED A BETTER HOSPITAL AND MORE BED'S AND MORE STAFF! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR OUR CITY! read more
