I have had great experiences with the urgent care doctors, so was excited to get a PCP in the same practice. The experience has been beyond terrible. The doctor was unprepared, charged me for $1500 in lab work without clearing it, and then charged another $350 for a telehealth meeting where all he did was tell me to see another specialist. I would not go back and would recommend others looking for a doctor to find one somewhere else. read more

Wait time is great, however I called 3 times for my sons xray result the next day including holding for 45 minutes on the last call for someone, only to be asked, what was your question about the result? I want to know if something is broken?!?! When you walk in there there is a huge poster in what behavior is acceptable and what will not be tolerated, I can see now why patients would lose their minds and act like fools. read more

As an Orinda resident I find this location to be extremely convenient. I see most of my physicians at this location and have had to use Urgent Care twice in the last year. Both times everything went extremely well. Two keys to a good experience: 1 Use MyHealth On Line and make an appointment and use the app to let them know you have arrived. This will often get you seen before regular walk ins. 2. Be kind to the folks who work at the front desk. I have unfortunately seen patients who are just rude to these workers. read more

A fall on a Sunday morning resulted in a fractured bone and a need for a visit to urgent care. We were very impressed with Orinda's Sutter Urgent Care office. UPDATE: 11.03.2022 Sutter Health Disability Services handled my complaint (based on the medical component of my exemptions from mask wearing), and to their credit, saw the issue through to resolution. I received a formal apology from Sutter Health, and a commitment to updating training for staff across the region on mask exemptions, to ensure that the discrimination and harassment I experienced at my prior visit does not happen again. My medical procedure was rescheduled for today, and went smoothly. I appreciate that Sutter handled the complaint with the seriousness it deserves, not only for my sake, but to ensure that others who do not wear face coverings will be able to access medical care without impediment, as required by law. read more

Urgent care review - I came in with my 18 mo when I was experiencing flu like symptoms and they helped get me in and out quickly after seeing how sick I was and that I had a little one with me too (I didn't have childcare this day and my husband was away for work- always works out that way right ). Is there an option for 0 stars?! This place is a complete joke. It is proof our health care system sucks. I was told they don't take appts, so I would need to walk in. I did just that and checked in. The receptionist mentioned that my insurance is out of network. I said that can't be right because I called my insurance company prior to going and they gave me this specific urgent care location and I had email proof. She then checked and confirmed she was in the wrong. Moving forward, I saw the medical assistant and she asked the reason for my appt. I informed her and she said she was going to get the doctor. As I waited, the assistant came back in and said the doctor wasn't going to see me and recommended I go to the ER. Mind you, I'm not having any emergency symptoms. My primary care Dr actually referred me to urgent care so I would NOT need to go to the ER and wait for hours upon hours. She then proceeded to say they didn't have labs or imaging there for me to do. I asked for those to be ordered then so I don't need to wait elsewhere. They refused. As I left, I noticed the urgent care facility had a laboratory(!) and imaging(!). I asked the assistant before I left and she said it's protocol that urgent care doctors cannot order labs because they are not my primary care physician! What?! I have been to COUNTLESS urgent cares between myself, children, and family members, and I have never heard of such a thing. I have had labs done at plenty of them. What is the point of urgent care then? Or having labs on property? The fact that I also was refused to see a doctor was shocking to me. Terrible. I drove an hour for nothing. Sickening experience. My husband had had a good experience at OUC and so I did not hesitate to seek care there for an extremely painful sore throat, rattling wet cough, and fatigue. Overall, I think Orinda has a good system. Both times I found much of the staff to be both professional and caring. My time in the waiting room was broken up by an interview with a nurse who was able to recommend a strep test (fortunately, negative) that was done as soon as I was called into the examining room. I had expected a COVID test, but the doctor informed me that a positive result wouldn't lead to any different recommendations than a regular virus. I mentioned that Paxlovid had helped the one time we both had COVID, but she told me it was no longer recommended, unless immunocompromised. She agreed to order a COVID test when I reminded her of my husband's immunocompromised condition. She spent quite a bit of time giving me dietary advice, going into a lot of examples and specifics to avoid refined sugar, dairy, alcohol, wheat in favor of organic and non GMO foods. To be honest, I was feeling so exhausted, I just wanted to get my test results and go home to sleep. She left, and shortly after a medical assistant came and swabbed my nose. I waited around 15-20 minutes, thinking they were waiting for the results of my COVID test. I finally went back into the hallway only to discover the nurses' station looked deserted. A young woman asked me if I was looking for the exit. In short, they had forgotten about me and apparently gone to lunch! I told her I was waiting for my COVID results and after-visit summary. The young woman looked up my chart, telling me that my results would be available online in 2-3 days. As she was printing my summary, the doctor came out of her office, surprised that I was still there, and apologized for my being forgotten in the exam room. I understand that mistakes happen and was willing to give it a pass, save for what happened next. On the drive home, I received a message from CVS telling me that 2 prescriptions were ready to pick up. The problem was that I was never told any prescriptions were being ordered. One of them I had never heard of and didn't know its purpose. Over the next few days (Days 2-4,including the weekend) I checked online for my COVID results, to no avail. More disturbing, there was no mention in my account of a pending COVID test. Finally on Day 5, I called the office only to learn that they had no record of a COVID test. Apparently, orders were never put through, and without orders, the COVID swab was discarded. This made no sense to me. Even if the doctor had forgotten to put in orders, why wouldn't someone ask her about the swab that had been administered, before throwing it away? I spent some time going over the doctor's notes and after-visit summary. The notes indicated the doctor had gone over the prescriptions with me, which was not the case. A full page and a half of the summary was dedicated to dietary recommendations. Any one of these glitches alone would not have been a big deal, but put together they were definitely problematic. I would have preferred that the doctor spend less time on healthy eating recommendations and more time on the basics: following through on the COVID test, letting me know about the prescriptions she had ordered, and remembering that I was in the examination room. I had not planned to write a review, but I received an email request from Sutter to post one. The person who answered the phone said I could call Patient Relations, but I told her I would prefer to speak to someone at the site itself, so these problems could be addressed and corrected for future patients. She said she would pass on my request to have the supervisor/manager call me. It has been well over a week and no one has called. read more

Very unhappy with this "Urgent Care". My husband went in May and we are just now getting the bill because it was not coded probably. In the end, the MD here refused to give him any medication and he was very sick. Saw another physician at Stanford the next day and was given appropriate medications. After all the billing through this insurance, the LAB test he ran was $600. ONE test. He should NOTIFY the patient if the test is this expensive. Insurance only covered a portion and we are stuck with the rest. TERRIBLE care, I would go elsewhere. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Came to this location after another location called them to confirm their X-ray tech was there to take walk-ins (the first location's tech wasn't in that day). After I got there the receptionist checked me in and told me to wait. After waiting the X-ray tech got out and informed the receptionist she wouldn't be taking in any walk-ins. Why would you direct people to come to your location as a walk-in if you aren't able to help them. Why wouldn't you inform the other location if that was actually the case? Came here the other day to get lab work done as there is a Sutter Lab located in this location. This was my first time getting blood work done here and I was impressed in how it was extremely easy to find, given I was coming from Walnut Creek, driving HWY 24 toward Lafayette/Orinda. It's not far from The Orinda BART Station! Too, there was plenty of free parking and not many patients waiting for lab work to be done so the wait time was minimal. Of course, coming in during a weekday morning, at 9:45am, may have played into my fortune. :) The interior part of the facility was clean, welcoming, an array of seats, and ease with checking-in as the Lab is immediately to the left, upon entering. Mona was the phlebotomist who took my blood as she was tremendously kind, gentle with the injection of the butterfly needle, as well as wonderful to speak to, for the short time I sat with her. :D Overall, for a first timer coming here, I can vouch for a very user-friendly experience, from beginning to end! read more

I went to this Urgent Care facility for Covid Symptoms and a hip injury. The attending physician literally spent 20 to 30 seconds with me and did not inquire about either my Covid symptoms or hip problems. He stated that he would not prescribe Paxlovid until my Covid test came back positive. I received my positive molecular Covid results the next day and the doctor was not present. None of the other members of the care team nor a supercilious physician would prescribe the medication. I strongly urge others to avoid this location. read more

UPDATE: The ultrasound results showed "concerning for malignancy". The urgent care doctor told us "She looks fine. There's nothing I can do for you." So in fact, she was NOT fine. He tried to shoo us away like a fly when she does have a serious condition. This was missed due to his dismissive behavior. I took my son here when he broke his arm. The check in staff called my insurance company verify coverage but the staff did not inform me that they were not in my network. Next my son was seen by Dr Jaber who noted that his arm was broken (I already knew this) and promptly sent him to Oakland Children's Hospital. For this failure to treat we were billed $701 of which we are responsible for $308. Sutter is great at balanced billing but bad at delivering healthcare. read more

Fraud alert: This might be the worst urgent care facility that I have ever been to. Beware, they will "balance bill" you to death. When I went there, they told me that a certain piece of equipment would be a certain price. This is how they get you to buy the equipment from them. When I got the bill in the mail a few weeks later, the cost was 3.5 times what was quoted. This places sucks so bad. I hope they get shut down for their illegal activity and fraud. read more

Pregnant wife was so sick she couldn't get out of bed. Over the phone the advice nurse said to come into urgent care. We get there and in 10 minutes are informed that she can't be seen because Her symptoms sound like they could be covid. Gotta go to Berkeley where they can do a covid screen. OK. Whatever. Drive to Berkeley but on the way they call and say they stop doing covid tests at 3 so either wait till tomorrow or go to the ER. So pregnant lady feeling ill and you can't help? There is nothing either "urgent" or "care" about this operation. I get the covid fear factor. But to allow it to prevent you from providing one iota of medical care is absurd. What a great experience! I have been sick as a dog and needed to go to urgent care to get some relief from my symptoms. Everybody at the facility in Orinda was amazing, competent, caring, and thorough. I am highly impressed! Sauna, who was the person at the front desk was super helpful and clearly explained the process for me to see someone. I came in with a very bad cough and cold and because these could be signs of Covid, she explained that I needed to be seen outdoors by the staff. All I had to do is drive around to the back parking lot where they had set up tents for the staff to see the patients.. Stephanie was the intake nurse and she was great. And probably the biggest shout out should go to Dr. Bueno. He was super thorough and insisted I get a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, and wanted me to get a strep throat culture taken as well as Covid test. Within a very short time, all my tests were completed and the results came back. Dr. Bueno got me prescriptions to alleviate my symptoms. He is a fantastic doctor and was very reassuring that I would be on the road to recovery soon. Sutter urgent care Orinda has been my go-to urgent care spot for a few years now. I live in Walnut Creek but will make the trip out when I'm feeling sick. Most recently I visited to get tested for Covid. They were fast and professional, triaged me thoroughly and accurately and gave me good advice before I left. They listened to what I had to say and really took it into account to form an action plan. Honestly it's the best service I've ever gotten from an urgent care and would highly recommend. read more

Zero stars. I had something that felt like gallbladder stones attack in November of last year. I was in pain and called the urgent care in Orinda. They told me I should come in so I did. I repeated my symptoms to the front desk and they said it was smart that I came. Then, an hour later, the physician came and told me that there was nothing they could do at urgent care because they don't have any diagnostic equipment!!! She apologized profusely and admitted that they shouldn't have told me over the phone nor at the front desk that anything could be done. I was so frustrated and in pain. I drove from Oakland to be seen! I waited for an hour before the doctor came to see me and nothing! No diagnosis, no tests! She wouldn't even order any tests to be done the following day or at a different site because 'my primary doctor should do that'!!! I was very disappointed. THEN they sent me a bill for over $300 for the visit! Unethical doesn't begin to describe this clinic. I tried to dispute and reason with the billing department. I told them to go and talk to the doc because she would surely confirm that's what happened that day. But no. I still owe money for a visit they tricked me into. read more

Little did we know that would in reality be a 2 and a half hour wait along for a 15 minute webMD diagnosis. My time is worth something to me. I'm not a huge fan of Sutter in general. It seems like the fees they are charging are not in line with the service they provide. Recently my son broke his arm. Given the angle that his hand was pointing, it was quite obvious that both forearm bones were broken. I took him to the urgent care clinic and asked the receptionist if that was something they treat and she said yes. However, when We were seen by a doctor, she took one look at his arm and told me we need to go to Oakland Children's Hospital. They didn't give him a sling to wear or provide any other treatment. Fast foreword and I just received a $231 bill for our visit. Seems like the exact same issue that Suzanne R had. I'm all for paying for medical service, but if your just telling me to go somewhere else, I don't think I should be charged hundreds of dollars for that. I did call billing to but they said there was nothing they could do since he was seen by a doctor. I get that medical care can be a touchy subject and that people's reviews can reflect that, but if you read the reviews of Sutter Urgent Care Orinda, it seems like a common theme is that billing seems more important than service. ***Update*** Just a quick update. Sounds like the urgent care department is no better than the regular care department, which is what I am reviewing since I don't see a listing for their regular practice here. I have 2 primary issues with the experience at Sutter East Bay in Orinda: 1) In my opinion, they have dishonest and deceptive billing practices - the cost estimate they publish on their website for the type of visit I had is $65; the actual bill I received was $330. I contested it, and after having to follow-up several times after they didn't respond within the time they said they would (over about 3 months), they finally reviewed it and (of course) re-affirmed that it was correct and threatened to send it to collections if I didn't pay (they had been billing me and threatening all along). They would not provide details about the billing codes they used, nor how the bill mapped to the cost estimates that they publish on their website. Insurance bill up-coding (e.g. charging for a more complex service than was actually performed) is a huge problem in this industry, and a major reason behind why health care costs are so out of control. 2) The quality of care is unacceptably poor - while the doctor I saw at this most recent visit was very nice (as was the other doctor I saw last year for a general check-up), he wasn't able to add any more value than I got from searching my symptoms on Google or speaking with the advice nurse over the phone when making the appointment. The only value I got from the visit was a referral for a blood test (which didn't require the visit), and a referral to another doctor to try and figure out what he couldn't (for another charge, of course - the good-old boys referral club). Definitely not worth the $330 they charged me. Additionally, unfortunately even with the blood test, nobody ever followed-up to give me the results. Initially I figured that may be a good sign - there were no issues (although odd that nobody would let me know that). But after about a month, my curiosity got the better of me and I called to ask about it, at which point they told me there was actually a slight abnormality which I should come back in for (you guessed it - for an additional charge). Finding new and innovative ways to bill me never seemed to lack; competence in care and concern for my well-being certainly didn't come across as their priority. Overall, this is a very poorly run operation, built around their prioritization of profit over patient well-being. Had their response to any of this been to take responsibility and correct the issues, I could accept that - even honest businesses make mistakes. But businesses with integrity own up to those mistakes and make them right. Sutter East Bay did not do that in my case - they did exactly the opposite - and judging from the other reviews I've seen online, that seems to be commonplace for their business. read more

I was directed by my insurance to go see them, however they wouldnt see people till 12, so I went to Berkeley where I wasnt covered, only to go back to Orinda where I was also not covered. The front desk saw the lack of intellect and immediately jumped on the situation. Ultimately I was able to make my bus in San Jose to LA and beat the horrid commuter traffic. Booking an appointment here was easy, and the receptionist was very pleasant, but unfortunately, I am unable to rate the service at the facility itself, as my appointment was canceled 30 minutes before I was supposed to arrive. I received the cancelation phone call when I was already on my way to the office (in rush hour). They told me that the doctor I was supposed to see was in surgery, which seems like the kind of thing they should typically be aware of more than 30 minutes in advance. Can't say I appreciate taking time off work only to have my appointment canceled at the last minute. The staff was nice enough about it, but it doesn't really change the fact that I completely wasted my time. read more

I've seen both OB GYN's and Primary Care Physicians at this location in Orinda. Completely unsatisfied with their service and the performance of their doctors. The only "efficient" department is their billing dept. Expect plenty of costly bills for sub-par medical treatment. I have one sitting on my desk for seeing a nurse practitioner - I made an OB GYN appt and THOUGHT I would be seeing a doctor. They scheduled me with the nurse - who couldn't help me and told me to make yet ANOTHER appt with an actual doctor. Thanks for nothing - oh wait, except for the $136 bill. I guess they expect me to pay for their wasting of my time. Again. Never seeing a doctor with this group again. read more

The absolute worse place to go. From the staff at the counter to the staff that care for you, they seem not prepared and terrible customer service attitude. First and foremost they don't open until noon. "Urgent" Care should open at 9 (at a minimum). And although we have Sutter Health PLUS insurance the "Sutter" Urgent Care required us to pay up front? Come on folks get it together! I called Sutter Health and they are handling BUT what a poorly run system. As a patient I don't care about medical groups and who is in what group or about the back office process. You should see me or my child and bill the insurance company! Period. read more

Dr. Lee is my current Primary Care Physician. I think the only negative I can think of with this medical practice is possibly Sutter's inability to retain good doctors. My partner and I have been patients here, since we live in Orinda, for several years and have had to change our PCPs 4 or 5 times. As mentioned, Dr. Lee is our current treating doctor and we are very happy with her compassion, wonderful bedside manner and knowledge. When she is not available, we see Christine Tsang, Nurse Practitioner. She is amazing as well, and we know we are always in good hands. Imaging is on site, as well as some other specialties and the lab is as well. Never had a problem with parking. Super convenient. read more

I started having severe balance problems, my head was spinning constantly, i couldn't even walk without help and had terrible nausea. After a few days with no improvement i got very anxious that i may have a neurological condition and worked myself into a panic attack. I was taken to Orinda Sutter Urgent Care were thankfully i was seen immediately due to my heart racing and shorness of breath due to the panic attack. I tried to convey how serious my vertigo and dizziness was but they just made me comfortable and did a EKG. My heart was not the problem so they sent me home. I asked what about my balance issues and they said my primary doctor, who's in the same building, would contact me about it. Never heard from her. A week later i saw a ear, nose and throat doctor who diagnosed me with vestibular neuritis, an infection of the nerve in the ear. Inner ear infections weren't even mentioned at the Urgent Care, why not? It would have put my mind at ease. I was treated well overall but i don't feel i received the care i needed. read more

I don't know why this place gets such terrible reviews. I go here for the Ob-gyn docs, for my general practitioner, and for the lab. I've always had top notch service. As for the lab, the two ladies in there are ALWAYS friendly, they work fast, and they do a good job with the needle stick. After using LabCorp, this lab deserves 100 stars. The receptionists are always pretty friendly, nothing extraordinary, but good enough. Also, every once in awhile, the wait time is a little long but I've NEVER waited longer than 30 minutes for any doctor. As for the doctors, Dr. Taborga saved my life when he diagnosed a blood clot so there's nothing negative to say about him. I didn't care for the nurse practitioner, but I've seen almost every Ob on the staff with nothing but excellent care. read more
