I've been seeing Dr. Babcock for years and he is really an excellent doctor and I hate having to switch from him. However, SAMC recently switched to One Medical (Amazon), meaning you have to pay a $200 subscription to even be able to read messages from the doctor, book an appointment, view/ refill prescriptions, etc. You can get a 'free' version if you're ok with being on hold for half a day but all that gets you is the ability to login and view messages when you owe them money... not doctors messages. They no longer have a direct number to call even though there's usually 2/3 people working at the desk every time I've been in there. This is truly saddening as again, Dr. Babcock has been a great doctor for me but this model is truly terrible. As bad as health care is in the US I can't believe we're straying even further in the wrong direction with subscription based health care! Well-run office with diligent attention to detail--COVID-19 care has been well-run, with due concern for everyone's safety. Never had a problem with parking; office is well set up. Exam rooms are clean and well-equipped. Blood can be drawn on-site. I rarely, if ever, have had to wait long before my appointment time; I'm surprised, as medical problems don't necessarily fit into nice reliable blocks of time. Getting through to talk to reception can be a challenge at peak times--but I suppose that is true with any office.

The communication is terrible and someone may tell you something one day and someone else is gonna tell you something completely different the next day. I wish these things could be said the first time instead of having to call 3 different days to get 3 different answers. The communication is terrible and seems like they don't know what they're doing. I wouldn't have an issue if these things were told in the first call i made. Ive been needing PT and its been beyond a hassle to get a referral after they recommended someone. I had a good experience in my first visit but this just voids that good visit. If you decide to go with them, make sure to ask every question and find out everything before hand so there's no surprised later.

But that's just one of the many things I have always respected about Dr. Fehrenkamp. His wife, Lisa, worked the front desk and I also think the world of her. They made a great team, had a wonderful caring staff, and, on the rare occasion I had an emergency and needed to see him quickly, they would go out of their way to find a way to make that happen. I was incredibly lucky to have Dr. Broberg randomly assigned to my daughter the day after her birth. He just happened to be on rounds, which was really a great sign, when you think about it. I had been previously stressing out about interviewing pediatric doctors to find that right one we could trust. After the first visit, I knew I would happily join his practice. Lo and behold, Dr. Broberg's calming bedside manner totally won me over. He talks to us in such a manner we feel comfortable and educated. None of this talking down to us for asking the most ridiculous questions. Plus our daughter doesn't freak out on him when he is prodding her. She senses his calmness too I'd like to think. His bedside manner is perfect and I couldn't imagine finding another doctor that is quite as soothing. He is located at the ARC South 1st office, which is slightly sketchy at times. Just suck it up and deal with it, he is totally worth it.
