Swad Indian Kitchen has been a gem in the West Vancouver (Ambleside) neighbourhood since 2015. It's easy to see why! This spot is perfect for any celebration with friends or family. The decor is warm, elegant, and welcoming (upscale but never pretentious). You instantly feel cozy the moment you walk in. Swad specializes in North Indian cuisine, known for its rich, creamy flavours and aromatic spices. It was truly an unforgettable dining experience. What we tried: * Chicken Lollipops * Prawn Coconut Curry * Lamb Methi * Veg Pulao * Butter Naan * Gulab Jamun * Mango Lassi * Indian Cosmopolitan Every dish was delicious, but the Prawn Coconut Curry was the standout -- creamy, flavourful, and perfectly balanced for those who enjoy a mild curry. Good food, great atmosphere, and warm hospitality! If you ever find yourself on the North Shore craving Indian food, Swad Indian Kitchen is a must-try! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: A-OK for kids. (There are non-spicy foods available.) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: Free street parking is available in the area. Tips: * 20% off on Customer Appreciation Nights (Monday & Tuesday). * Wine discounts on Wednesday night. * Private dining available for meetings or events * Ocean-view patio open during summer Would I Return: Yes

North Indian flavours done right at Swad Indian Kitchen. From creamy butter chicken to vibrant veggie dishes, every bite is rich, bold, and full of warmth. Their $14.95 lunch combo (until 3 pm daily) includes rice with your choice of Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Dal Tadka or Aloo Gobi -- perfect for a mid-day treat. Craving more? Try the Chicken Kathi Roll or Samosa & Chana Masala. Bonus: Lager, Pale Ale, and House Wine are just $6. Plus, they have a private room with ocean views that's ideal for group hangs or special occasions. I had previously only dined here for dinner. The vibes are a bit different during the day vs dinner. Dinner is definitely more fancy, intimate, and romantic. The lunch dishes are on the smaller and lighter side compared to their dinner dishes. The flavours are still there and the portions are good for lunch. 1734 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1J3 (Close to Ambleside, John Lawson Park, and West Vancouver Seawall) Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Parking 5/5 free 2 hour street parking around the block. Incredible Late Valentine's Dinner at Swad! I visited Swad Indian Kitchen for their Dine The Villages special event, and it was the perfect way to celebrate a late Valentine's Day. The Kachumber Salad was a great, fresh start to the meal. For the main courses, the Mango Chicken was absolutely delicious with the perfect hint of sweetness, and the Goan Fish Curry was incredibly flavorful and authentic. Both paired perfectly with the Biryani rice. Everything was so yummy, and the $45 set menu is a fantastic deal for the quality of food you get in West Vancouver. Highly recommend for a special night out!.

Update (Dec 2025): Listen -- I've been to my fair share of restaurants, but Swad Indian Kitchen? They set the bar for Indian food! This was my second time here and I was so impressed again by the service and food! The whole place has an easy, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. The food was absolutely the best -- every dish was packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and felt so authentic. The design of the restaurant is thoughtfully curated--elegant yet cozy. What made the visit even more special was the personal touch from Reema, and Kamal. Their passion for great hospitality shines through in every interaction, making the entire dining experience feel personal and heartfelt. From the moment you walk in, the warm hospitality stands out. The staff are very present and hands-on, greeting customers, making sure everyone is taken care of -- you can tell they care deeply about the food and the people. It gives the place a welcoming charm that's hard to find these days. They personally came to my table, and made sure everything was to my liking. That kind of genuine warmth and connection is rare and really made the experience memorable. The Papri Chaat was a true highlight! The Kesariya Paneer was pure satisfaction with every bite. The butter naan and curry (Chicken Kuku Paka) is the duo that never misses. The curry is done just right! The Jeera Rice is the ultimate sidekick for the curry or honestly just as is! The Palak Kofta was nothing short of addictive! The Pineapple Mojito was serving up pure vibes - fruity, refreshing, and totally insta-worthy! The mango cheesecake was total dessert goals and their chai was so comforting! Not much else to say other than it's probably one of the best Indian restaurants in West Van. If you're craving real Indian food and a place where you're treated like family, this is the spot. I ate so much I literally couldn't move and Reema can testify to that. If you're looking for a place that not only serves incredible food but also makes you feel genuinely welcomed, this is the spot. Cheers to the entire Swad Indian Kitchen team -- you are worthy of every bit of praise. If you're looking for bold flavors, and some of the kindest people in the business, this is your place. Highly, highly recommend! August 2025: All I can say is WOW! Make this a regular spot, it will blow your mind! Food is over the top delicious! If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Swad Indian Kitchen is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the warm ambiance and the inviting aroma of flavorful spices. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by Sahib and Reema! The service was right on point. The pakoras were flavour bombs! They are such tasty little bites! The chicken tikka was sizzling hot! It's juicy bites of chicken cooked to smoky perfection - bold flavour in every bite! It was flavour-packed! The flavour of the Chicken Kuku Paka was spot on! It's cooked in luscious coconut sauce infused with fragrant spices...it's the ultimate comfort food for a curry lover! The garlic naan was so pillowy soft and fluffy. Infused with garlic and topped with herbs, it's a perfect match for the chicken curry! The vegetable pulao was so flavoursome and hearty! It's a delightful blend of colourful veggies, fragment basmati rice and warm Indian spices! It's major comfort food energy. The mocktails (Pina Colada & Virgin Shikanji) are the perfect balance of bold, fruity, and refreshing flavours to elevate your sip! From tangy twists to fruity bliss, the mocktails are made to refresh you. And the mango kulfi was creamy, dreamy, and irresistibly refreshing! It was summer on a stick! Their patio is the perfect spot to soak in the summer sun! If you're craving authentic Indian cuisine, paired with top-notch service, look no further than Swad Indian Kitchen. Be sure to ask for Sahib & Reema - they truly elevated our dining experience. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed Swad! I had a reservation here at 5:30 on a Saturday with some friends before a concert at a hall nearby, and we were about 15 minutes late due to traffic, but they didn't seem put off which was a relief, probably because they weren't too busy yet, although it was getting there by the time we left. The ambiance inside was so nice; the decoration was elegant and classy but not overstated, the lighting low and warm, and the chairs comfortable. The vibe is a little upscale (more than we were expecting) but not inaccessible at all. I ordered the Reshami Paneer, a Pudina Parantha, and a Salty Lassi - all were excellent. I haven't seen this paneer dish at a restaurant before and really liked it - it was zingier than similar paneer curries like kadai paneer or paneer tikka masala and tasted very vibrant. I ordered medium spice and it fell just about where I expected it to. The level was good for me, although I could've handled a little spicier - if you're used to the medium spice level from super authentic places, this was a little less than that, but I think about average for the majority Canadian or American Indian restaurants. Others in my group ordered the butter chicken and palak paneer and had good things to say. My one friend is sensitive to heat and ordered his butter chicken mild, and said it was fine for him. The parantha was very flaky and almost doughy on the inside, just how I like it, and fragrant with the mint. The lassi was nice and smooth, not too heavy, and made a nice accompaniment to my meal. Our food came out in a very timely manner after ordering. The à-la-carte mains and breads are decently-sized portioned for one person, but the rice sides, which others at my table shared, are enough for 2 people each. Our waiter was very personable, but he really tried to push us to order appetizers and desserts, which would have been fun and cute if that was what we wanted, but we had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted and did have somewhere to be after, and I think we all felt awkward declining. It was also a challenge to get his attention to get the bill once we were finished. When we were ready for the bill, he seemed a little puzzled by our request to have it split - it was no problem for him to split it evenly 4 ways, but we had all ordered our own entrees and breads and I had gotten my own drink; the rices were the only thing that was shared. But I guess the dishes are intended to be shared so that's what they assumed we did. Everything was close enough in cost that we just went with it, and our totals before tip came out to $26 per person, which isn't bad at all considering the quality of food and the general dining experience. I think these little awkward things we encountered can largely be attributed to our expectations being a little off and them not getting much of a uni student crowd. The experience overall was lovely.

If you enjoy Indian food, this is a must try restaurant! Great atmosphere and welcoming service. We were at Swad with another couple and shared a few dishes. Be sure and ask for them to come at the same time and not family style as they will come one at a time. I had to try the butter chicken which was at the top of the list for the best I have ever tasted. We ordered two fabulous vegetable dishes, Aloo Gobhi Vegetable Korma, both were wonderful. Lastly we had a delightful white fish that was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the food amazing. I strongly recommend reservations on a Friday or Saturday night.

Nice restaurant located in West Van with street and back yard free parking. Cozy environment, friendly service. Monday and Tuesday are customer appreciation night, you can get 25% off. For bottled wines you can get 50% off, good deal! As I am not an Indian food expert, my friend did the ordering. The Lamb and buttered chicken are must try, best with rice or naan, yummy! I also like the spinach with cheese, the waiter said the cheese was home made, so tasty!

I would also describe the food as modern since there are some cool fusion dishes such as the mango burrata (I didn't end up ordering this but I wish I did!) I want to start this review by giving a big shoutout to Pemba who was our server, he was so kind and took such good care of us and recommended really good items based on what we wanted. Everything I tried from here was 10/10! Some stand out items - :: Bombay pomfret fry - OH! The masala and coating on this was sooo good we were sucking on the bones till the very end. Such a great appetizer! :: Lasooni palak burrata - I was a little apprehensive about this at first because burrata and palak didn't seem like something I would want to try but I was wrong! This was one of my favourite dishes. It was such a delicious fusion item. For dessert, I would recommend getting their soan papdi malai khwaab and their malai ghewar. Not too sweet, just perfect. But to be honest, if I returned, which I absolutely will if I'm back in Vancouver, I'd probably order the Biryani again, but maybe I'd go with the goat, which another guest raved about.
