Here's the deal: The problem with the restaurant/ service industry is that one server/barkeep/employee etc can ruin an otherwise sterling establishments reputation to the otherwise unsuspecting consumer. Fortunately, this ain't my first rodeo, and I can usually spot this type of thing a mile away, determining whether or not it's the way someone was trained, or just a rogue worker. I had such an experience at this brewery just a few moments ago. I won't name names or give descriptions, but I truly believe that these smaller breweries are the bread and butter of the industry, and Swamp Head is a shining example of how to do it right. It's a clean, well stocked brewery with (mostly!) great staff. I've seen some things, so complaining isn't something I'm used to, so I'm not going to. I will definitely keep my business with them, and look forward to imbibing all of the beautiful creations and collaborations in months and years to come! Hopefully mr. rogue will find peace. I've been here once on a Saturday evening. Lots of parking as so as you turn into the driveway. We sat at the bar and immediately attended to by a knowledgeable employee. The flight is a good starting point. I had the "midnight oil"coffee oatmeal stout which was smooth and accurately lived up to its fancy description. Hubby had a honey ale which he much enjoyed. The essence of my growth into craft beer, Swamp Head holds a special piece of my heart for being among the first breweries that showed me the light of quality, local libations. With community support in abundance, they are finally getting the chance to take a huge next step out of the shadows and into the spotlight of fantastic Florida craft beer with this new location and, my, what an impressive leap it was! The Venue About halfway between Williston and Archer on S. 35th, the new location is bigger, better, and more true-to-name than ever before: large trees and a swampy pond tuck in the vibrant brew tanks that sport their name and logo. The parking lot is ample right at the brewery but overflow options exist a stone's throw away at a bowling alley that's nearby. The interior is nice and open with plenty of bar access to accommodate thirsty patrons, and they now have much more room for extending the number of taps as well (more space + more equipment = more delicious seasonals!). Aside from the bar itself, numerous tables crafted from tree trunks (some with pint holes carved into them) are sprawled out for keeping groups comfortable, and a section of the patio is also furnished that looks out onto the murky lake and tree line (there's beauty in everything, even a literal swamp at Swamp Head). The Vibe Quick, friendly, and knowledgable staff greeted me when I came on opening day, and I imagine it can only get better as the crowd stabilizes. Obviously a lot of the heavy lifting is taken off of their shoulders when you go to grab your own suds, but there is something to be said about swiftly suggesting beers to the fresh-faces without allowing a gigantic line to start forming. I was afraid they might have a less-exciting turn out because of this new location, but they did not appear to be hurt in the slightest. In fact, there are now numerous benefits to their relocating, like the proximity to that bowling alley (new clientele) and the fact that they can more readily accommodate food trucks. One annoyance they will have to sort out sooner than later: the inability to go out to the food they have arranged with glass in hand. If I chug my beer because I am hungry and then quickly chow down because I am thirsty, the result is usually a nap shortly after. The Bar They are veterans to the area so this will not be news to any locals, but to those looking to know where a good start is for a first-time trip out to Swamp Head: Year-Round Rotation: - Stumpknocker: Pale ale that I would call hop-forward and more weighty than most pales. Solid go-to pint anywhere, anytime - Big Nose: IPA and my personal recommendation for tasting a true glass of Swamp Head's roots. This is the one that changed me for the better! - Midnight Oil: Their oatmeal and coffee stout. I enjoy it on occasion but it takes a mighty tasty pint to have me sipping stouts in swampland - Cottonmouth: Not a personal favorite but I have it from time to time - Wild Night: Honey Creme ale. May be your thing but it seems to have less of a following than the others Seasonal Favorites: - 10-10-10: Love this beer! They release the standard version and one aged in whiskey barrels, both of which have their following, but the regular DIPA pulls back on the bitter enough to let the other merits of a DIPA shine through for a very tasty glass of hoppy goodness - Catherine's Passion: Their Russian Imperial and, honestly, not something in the highest demand for the Sunshine State. Does not even make a difference because this beer is fantastic and I look forward to it when the weather cools down! Final Thoughts The new space is already giving this crew much-needed room to flourish. More events have been popping up and I keep hearing whispers of Big Nose in a can, so fans of near and far will get a chance to witness what has been a VERY overdue splash in this pond we call Gainesville! read more

I know Swamp Head Brewery has been in business for a while. But, I just started going a few months back for after work beer with co-workers. Being older and my college bar scene days far behind me, I really like what Swamp Head has done. It can't get any better for fresh beer than going to the brewery itself, and this comes out in the taste of their beer. Always tasting clean and fresh. You can tell their beer is brewed with quality ingredients. What I also like is the setting. A nice long bar, not feeling like Lillians or any other college bar in town. The property they chose, and the large viewing windows looking outside to the pond and woods. Very nicely done. Service is always friendly with a smile. Beers are around $5-6 each. For the quality you get this is a good deal for me. I would highly recommend a visit. Giving them 5 stars, but its more like 4.5 as they don't have food inside. But I get it, they're a brewery first. They do have a food truck outside on Friday nights which works. Keep up the good work. read more

Very cool pet/family friendly joint to hang out at. Visisted this brewery while in town for a event for my daughter and had a date night with the wifey. They seem to have it figured out. The staff was all cool. Plenty of tvs to check out sporting events, games for the whole family to play and a food truck parked right out side if u need a snack. Oh ya and some very good beer to enjoy while you're chillin. Can't name them all but I didnt have one I didnt like. In fact I bought a couple six packs to take back to O-Town. Overall had a good time here sipping beers. They had a great variety of types of beers on tap. I had the beer flight and enjoyed the mix of beers. The price was about right but maybe a tad bit expensive for the beer and the ambience as well as the minimal service. You can bring food with you to have a get together which is nice. Also there is usually a good truck but the one that came had some weird varieties so that wasn't of much interest to us. Bottom line...great place for a beer,l or happy hour. Delicious selection of beer. The tasting room has ample space and plenty of parking. The best part is you can bring along your K9 buddies to join you:) There's no food on sundays but it looks like weekdays offers up food trucks and taco nights. I ended up doing a flight so I can try a bit of everything. My friend and I found some games and ended up playing trivial pursuit while enjoying our cold brews. Swamp Head is a Gainesville staple and this place has rapidly grown over the years. They are often the site of events, food trucks, and friendly gatherings. I like coming to Swamp Head because they have parking, a fun vibe, and great beers. As far as microbreweries go this place checks off a lot of the boxes for being great. I really like their Wildnight (creamy ale) and LemonHead (IPA). Note: this place is overwhelmingly dog friendly. So much so that people bring their dogs who do not behave well. If you're going to bring your dog please keep it on a leash and close to you. If your dog is a barker or whiner please leave it at home. Swamphead is one of my favorite breweries. I really enjoy their new location and most importantly, their beer! My personal favorite is their Cottonmouth which is a delicious wheat beer. They frequently hold "Timed Tappings" where limited edition beers are released on the hour. Swamped has pumped out the coolest and most unique beers, including the Pineapple Basil, Plum 10-10-10, and even Kiwi Cottonmouth! With the many games they have on site, you can easily stay all night and try them all! The staff and owners are super nice and knowledgeable. They are very supportive of the community and always help local businesses by having food trucks around the outside or inside the brewery. Ever since Swamphead extended their hours, they have become a lot more popular. It gets really crowded on Football Fridays, but there is plenty of beer to go around for everyone! They hold tours on most days at 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:30PM on weekdays and I believe every hour on weekends. The tours are only $5 and include free beer at the end. It is really worth it! There is plenty of seating, parking (overflow lot is where Alley Katz used to be), and it is pet friendly! This place was so good we went twice while visiting family in Florida. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The beer is.gooooooood. My favorite was the midnight oil (oatmeal coffee stout) and the hubs really enjoyed the wild night (honey ale). We sampled a lot of different beers and we were not disappointed with any. We may or may not have sampled ALL of the beers between the 3 of us...and they didn't care! :) Ended up doing a tour and got a couple of cool beer glasses out of it with a choice of filling it with one sample +++ The tour guide reminded us of Charlie Day from It's Always Sunny. He (the tour guide, that is) was great: detailed, funny, knowledgable. Prices were decent. Decor was swampy. Cool outside games. Food truck that made pizza. A+ read more

Loved the atmosphere. Loved the bartenders. Loved the beer. And the decorative pictures hanging behind the bar are a unique touch. The only critique I can give is to let your customers choose their own beers for their flights. Swamphead offers a very cheap flight ($6) of their five everyday beers. However, they had so many other interesting beers on the menu,I would've enjoyed picking my own. Overall the experience was great and my favorite of the five beers was their Wild Honey Cream Ale. Love the outdoor seating! We had a few beers on a warm day in December, there was plenty of outdoor seating with a view of a little pond! My favorite beer was a peanut butter one, it was so good! The were really resourceful too, it was during Covid so they had a beer truck with taps parked outside their main building along with outdoor bathrooms, not portapotties, the nice air conditioned ones. I've always loved Swamp Head's offerings and The Wetlands is a fantastic taproom. Within the last year or two, the amount of people coming to the taproom had increased, so certain events (Halloween, Star Wars Day) have become nearly impossible to visit. Bring cash, because their $15 minimum on cards is rough, and if it's an event you won't be able to cash out your card for nearly 45 minutes because of the amount of people. The tasting room and brewery at this much bigger facility is really nice and really represents this part of florida well. Cant wait until they fully reopen (post Covid) and allow patrons back inside. I was definitely fangirling about finally having coming to Swamp Head and was ecstatic as I drove up. I did a flight of their IPAs and the porter. Whilst I enjoyed most of the beers, that porter is the smoothest, sexiest beer to ever pass my lips. I could not get enough. I'd give them more stars for their beer. It's delicious. However, my complaint is about serving their customers. I travel here frequently on business. I entered last night; not too many folks in the brewery (about 10). I sit at the bar and order a beer. I looked up at the two flat screens above the bar. Both are turned off. I say, "hey there is a playoff baseball game starting. Can you turn on the TV?" The bartender, who was having his first night and knew nothing about the beers except how to pour one, says, "let me check." He returns and says "they don't turn them on except on the weekend when (university of ) Florida plays." I was stunned. I did not request audio, just to watch the game. This is a bar, right? They have two tvs and no crowd. I was alone and was hoping to catch the first few innings before heading back to my hotel. Was this an unreasonable customer request? Was I out of line? Of course not. Poor customer service. I had my one beer --would have had another at least. There are other Gainesville breweries happy to meet their customers' reasonable requests and their beer that is just as good. #FAIL read more

It was my first time at Swamp Head but I loved the vibe here. It's super chill and dogs are welcomed! Which I didn't know, but next time around I'll bring my pup! They have a great variety of beers and at inexpensive prices. If you are looking for a place to hangout, relax and drink a couple beers, this is the place for you. Very nice looking place. Much better than their old place. The have a huge selection of their own beers and guest taps. Plenty of seats and some games in the brew house. Everything is very clean and organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Having a food truck there every night is a plus. Cilantro tacos was there tonight, Awesome tacos. The only thing I didn't like was the flight option. You can only get their 5 standard taps which are not bad, Midnight oil was my favorite, but it would be better if I could try the other beers too. That's the reason I enjoy tap rooms, to try all the beers without paying 6 buck for a bad beer. In my opinion they are barely 5 stars. This is a cool place to grab a pint and a standard stop on my way to Tampa from Jax. Always like to check out what's in the tap room and get a growler to go.
